I wanted to clarify - when I said "please don't post unrelated stuff" what I meant was "Please don't spam links to unrelated things for sale".
That being said, I'm also trying to actively remove racist comments, direct personal attacks and the like. That stuff isn't acceptable, particularly here. Be nice to each other!
thanks for the advice & i see this as more how to videos!!!!
Strange Parts can it be possible to get these parts to build my own iphone with taobao. Thanks.
I hope RUclips is paying attention. Twitter too. These standards we all practiced when conversation meant being toe to toe with someone. When there was no place to hide. So many benefits available but being subjected to the needless cruelty that's so common in the digital world is a price we should not be paying. Thank you Strange Parts for demanding the respect you (we all) deserve. I'll get off my soapbox now. You struck a nerve by saying what needs to be said.
Can you do video about the clones phones market in china? what are the price range, how similer are they to the real deal?
Thanks my nigga. :D At least you don''t censor shitpostings. You just censor perceived racism and shit that hurts fiffies. ;)
create your own subreddit!
Love these videos where RUclips’s and creators take time out of their projects and regular postings to answer questions thoroughly, give back story on who they are, what their up to , their thought process -basically real talk. It’s like a cool intermission filler, breather episodes to take a quick break before one dives back into work. Keep it up yea.
Holy shit this man could have sat down in a park somewhere or his apartment and just explained the answer in one place but he went to the effort of walking all around Shenzhen so that it could have lots of backgrounds and look cool for us. 😍
I think you could talk about literally anything you're passionate about, and people would listen. Your so charismatic! Keep doing theses smaller "vlog" type videos. They´re great!
3 vids out and almost 400 k subs that how u know his vids are quality
And almost 15 million views 3 videos
Big Daddy I read that as shit at first
Quality over quantity for damn sure.
He made $14,000 with 3 videos!
Yea it kept hitting my suggested videos and after 5 or 6 times I was like Okay you wore me down. Now don't regret it.
Keep up the great work! I'm a third year Comp. Science degree student and you have me totally hooked. I have watched three of your shows so far. Your determination to succeed, is admirable. Keep on keeping on and I can't wait to watch more from you.
awesome video as always, thank you. the money issue of cost to build an iphone is a bit of an issue but the fact you researched, learnt, and then applied yourself and just committed to building an iphone... wow! you have dedication, guts and a vision. what you built was custom and to your own spec (you cant put a price on that) and involved lots of learning. thank you so much for sharing:) you are inspirational, looking forward to more videos. thank you.
This is my number 1 question I get , and the answer is
Shenzhen, China
WTStudios 哈哈
another answer is how?I'm Chinese😺
i see what you did there!
China numba wan!
The phone creation looked really interesting, i'd always wanted to build a circuit board for a computer or a phone and this insight resonated with me, loved id.
WTStudios at least you get it
@iTheGeek lol
Missed this guy so much...
He didn't make something new 🙁 i thought he will make how to add 2 camera's in iPhone 6.
BTW I love her love from Mars
I was waiting for him to post a video for soooo long😫 thank you for showing a sign that your back and making new videos!!😁
Same
Don’t need to say anything more
He showed up on Winston's channel, serpentza.
I have to say I found your channel by accident and watched you upgrade your memory on your iPhone. That's what got me hooked on your channel. I like your honesty and pace of the videos you are posting. Please keep up the great work and wish you much success on your channel and future endeavours.
Love your story and the journey that you been through. Thanks for sharing and this isn't just about a phone anymore but a lot more than that. I believe many out there shared your interest and you just get the ball rolling.
fantastic youtuber that doesn't clickbait, please keep it this way
True,
I met him while he was shooting some stuff in Mumbai. He told me i was the only guy to recognize him. Even I called him "the guy who made his own iphone".
+ayush parikh It was great meeting you! Not the only guy, but the first to recognize me:) Still not used to that yet - walking down the street in a country I've (almost) never been to before, and have someone randomly recognize me. It's pretty crazy:)
Strange Parts would’ve been nice meeting you, missed the thing
Strange Parts It was nice to meet you too mate. Hope your videos are always as awesome as you are.
Hey Scotty - Thanks for answer the question and your insights. The total cost of experimenting the first iPhone rebuild is my burning questions on the entire video "How I made my Own iPhone". I like your personality and your courage on roaming around the city for parts. The cutting of your video was on the spot too. I don't recall any boring moments.
Extra kudos to you for the video. I know it can be difficult and intimidating at places you've been. As a Chinese, I get anxiety for going to places you've been.
Good luck! I look forward to more of your videos
I watched all of the videos and I have to say...I'm sad that it ended. It was an awesome set of videos. It's very cool to see the parts market in other parts of the world. You make some high quality videos showing the failures and successes. Every time you got something right I felt like I cheered with you! Hah!
Well deserved man! Your videos are amazingly edited and interesting, it was so easy to watch through a full 30 minute video of yours. Keep it up.
Keep uploading small videos....update us what ur doing on...and what about fixing headphone jack in iPhone X...Love ur videos...keep it up
omkar bhosale also the google pixel 2 would be great!
Dennis8844 ya..
omkar bhosale I mean it'd probably be the same process for the X
Bill Bob I would guess that they've at least changed some of the insides
Tyler Weigand didn't he pretty much put a lightning to headphone jack adapter inside of the iPhone? Since both these use the same port I thought it'd be the same
Wonderful videos. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Answering viewer questions like this is the logical thing for you to do given a growing audience. There's no way you're going to be able to answer everyone's questions, and this addresses a lot of people at once, in an eloquent and useful way. Just subscribed to you today and love it! Keep finding your passion and sharing it (well, as long as it's still fun for you!). I'll keep watching.
hey scotty i just wanna say thank you so much, because of you now i have my own iPhone repair shop and i build my own custom iphone 6 with a glowing apple logo and a glowing speaker im so sorry i havent take a picture yet but its pretty awesome, anyway thanks scotty god bless
Paused Stranger Things to watch Strange Parts.
Bissy HOW DARE YOU!!??!?! Strange Parts is good but it ain't no Stranger Things😂😂
Bissy bob dies
Underrated comment
SK SAKIB Yea its quite sad
Dude. I did the same shit. Season 2 baby
Big project or short clip doesn't matter to me! I like both.
Hey Scotty, I just wanted to say good job on making that iPhone. I remember the first computer I made from scratch. Of course the first time you make it it will be kind of a learning curve / experience but I bet if you were to make it again it would go smoother. But that is why we do it on our own though because now you know everything you need to know about it cause if you didn't do it yourself it would of been as fun lol or learned so much. I like how you kept at it the whole time and didn't get anyone's help! That is a true geek man! Great job!
Hey Scotty I love your channel !! Awesome content. Hope the future keeps bringing you great things
I think I found Conor McGregor's smarter older brother.
For the logic boards, there's a bunch of agent services where you pay them to purchase the item off Taobao etc. and then mail-forward it to you. If the boards are available on Taobao, that might help quite a bit. And if someone can just find any place that's willing to mail the logic board, there's plenty of places that do mail forwarding from China to worldwide - Ian from Dangerous Prototypes offers that service, at least.
Thanks - I haven't seen logic boards for sale on Taobao much. I think they may be banned? Also, Ian is a good friend. Not sure what he would do someone tried to export iphone parts through him though - I don't think he'd be super pleased:)
Found a couple of logic boards on aliexpress. But they don't really go for cheap
aliexpress is really the only place I've found for logic boards as well. They are easier to find for earlier models, but yes, they aren't really cheap.
To be fair, logic boards aren't cheap in the markets either. Easily the most expensive part in the phone. By a lot.
Oh man, I love your videos, but even more, I love how you tell the stories and interact with all the people. I know it's been a few years, but I hope you found time to finally get some rest!
You are an awesome person who not tired of trying and trying. I admire you becoz you are not like an typical RUclipsr out there who make video for such a small small things. Keep that up because if you keep posting video often people will skip your videos because they will think it's just an usual stuff.
Be deferent so everyone will eagerly waiting for your every project.
another quality upload! Wish you the best❤️

Love your video's man, I appreciate the content, no matter the quality (because it's always there!). In fact, I'd love to have some more video's on your daily thoughts. Doesn't need to be technical, can be anything you like. You've proven yourself to be an excellent vlogger, so I say, standardise a "low effort" setting, and sit in front of the camera whenever you feel like throwing some thoughts out into the world. (Read more: My suggestion)
My ultimate suggestion; Well, it's kind of a long story, but it started with Dave Hakkens, a fellow Dutchie, who took the world by storm with his Phoneblok's concept a few year back. Now he's back in full swing with Precious Plastic, and that's wehre his soul is now. Exciting stuff. Sadly, the concept he pitched to Google got moved to a subsidiary (Panasonic iirc? Anyway, "some" big name phone fab), and from thereon out, it kind of got canned.. tldr; I'd love to see what you can come up with in terms of the whole "modular" phone thing. There's data already there on Dave's forums, so lots of research and design has already been done. Probably available cad models and the lot. Hope you see this dude, I bet that's gonna be another smash hit in terms of viewcount, and I bet Dave would be over the moon to see someone in Shenzhen picking up the pieces of his brainchild.
Cheers!
Wow, didn't realize both Phonebloks and Precious Plastic were the same guy - that's crazy. I've been following both of those projects from afar. I'll probably do a video about the modular phone idea at some point, and I'm very curious to do something around Precious Plastic. Maybe this is a sign I need to get in touch with Dave:)
YES! Oh this is awesome! Would love to see a collaboration between you two. Maybe have a little get-together in China. I'm sure Dave would love a small tour. Seeing as he's all about re-usability, I'm sure the whole Shenzhen business (and product) infrastructure would impress the hell out of him. Cheers man, thanks for replying!

@Strange Parts You don't have to make whole process merge on 1 video. Actually I'm really enjoy your videos, so you can make the whole process like an episodes.
Edit : It also make you can post a videos frequently.
I stumbled on to your videos completely by accident, but you're the best thing I've come across online in a while. All the best.
meee tooooo !!!
Really like your personality Scotty, never judge, always curious, trying to learn and make new things. Keep it up!
What a great man!
To quote Casey, keep on unloading. I've loved the mega projects but look forward to other shorter videos, China and it's tech markets look fascinating and keen to see more.
Coming at you from Ireland. 💚
I sincerely appreciate the fact that you are genuine. Keep it up.
Sweet videos man, keep them coming. Doing things I wish I could, thats for sure.
The cheapest way to buy used (unlocked) motherboard is to go on internet and try to found people who are selling broken phone because half of the people don't know how expensive is motherboard. And ask them is the phone from them (owner of that phone, not found phone) and if it's unlocked. I builded three iphone 6 for 250$-320$. (Sorry for my english i am from croatia)
This is the best way for sure. Phones with smashed screens are particularly good, assuming the Touch ID still works and is swapped in to the new housing too.
Izzie yes, i forgot the thing for touch ID (if it's not from it's first motherboard it doesn't going to register fingerprint but it will work like home button)
And if you buy white phone but you need black home button for the phone that you are fixing you can put original white button and order black protector for home button. It will be little bit thicker but just putt screen protector and it will be perfectly flat and the touch ID function will work perfectly fine
Hello, This is Kelly. we do the iPhone parts in shenzhen, if you need add me whatsapp8618018718841.

It amazed me ! The city, the quest, the explanations : thanks Scotty ! Greetings from Bordeaux :)
Hey brother. Thanks for the small video. I really enjoyed it. I actually went to shenzhen inspired by your video (I went to china with my gf on a trip) . I tried to find the same places that you went. Whoa! I was blown away of the things you went to. It was intimidating just to walk up to people and ask some questions. Keep motivating us brother. take it easy.
Huaqiangbei(华强北)electronic market is regarded by many geeks as a shopping heaven selling gears and components which have been disappeared in other part of world 10 years ago.
When I saw your first video I was like, oh cool an Iphone, but what I realy enjoyeed was your personality and all of the amazing and diferent places you visited. After watching your latest videos I really love what you made out of this channel.
Many thanks for making these videos, they're informative and entertaining. And cheers to you for asking (demanding!) people to have respect!
Great ideas discussed! Can't wait to see more of your content, as your insight is more than half of what makes your content so worth watching. If you DO however decide to make a bunch of smaller videos, I'd probably make it pretty clear in the title which type of video it is we're about to watch. That way in the future it's easy to go through your channel to binge through both types of content individually. Looking forward to the next one!
Yeah, good call on making it more obvious. I was actually thinking about that a bit before I release this one, but didn't have a clever idea on what to add to the title. I'll think more on it, and see if I can figure out a good way to convey that.
Probably something like Q&A
Scotty, Thank you, That was a great project for you l and ultimately enlightened us all, 5 Stars
I've only watched a couple of your videos. Not only do I like your content, but I also like the way you stage the background. I'm in Korea and you capture the beauty of your surroundings. And no, I won't be building my own iPhone! Thanks!
Scotty I wasn't going to watch your iPhone video at first when it came in my recommendations but trust me i thought to give it a try and God, I never had seen much quality content on RUclips, you actually are so modest and calm with your works, no bloats, no bad mouthing that many RUclipsrs do nowadays, you're just doing everything perfectly brother. Keep this up, you got a long way to go.
Waiting to see more,
Love from India :)
Most people want to travel to Japan, Europe as dream destinations.. But as a geek Shenzhen is probably the one place I really want to go. Closest I have been was Hongkong and I did love shopping for electronics tools there.
I am just a bit worried about language barrier. But hopefully I will go there soon.
I am myself a european and still want to visit Japan & Shenzhen if I have opportunity
Welcome back!
Make more videos like this, really enjoyed it and is delivered perfectly. Cant wait to hear about your next projects
hey, i just wanna tell you that i LOVE your videos so much. im someone who knows cero about technology i can say that im a little afraid about technology, but watching your videos its so much fun! thanks brother. have a great day!

GREAT job Scott! Fantastic video. I have watched several videos of yours and have just subscribed. Keep it up!
Not sure if you will read this, but this was something I have always wandered, both if given resources it was doable (build a phone from parts) and of course, if it was worth it on the cost perspective. Big thank you from Denmark for making it clear! Keep up the good work!
Man! What two GREAT videos! Educational, inspiring and, maybe, anthropological. Yes, it makes me to figure out how China became the greatest tech country in the world. You can build an iPhone from scratch in your garage in that country. This is crazy, but, this is also beautiful. Let's get some knowledge to do it as an hobby.
It really is impressive how technical and savvy they are. I just can't see this working in a western country.
Thank you for giving us an update! I'm months late on this but keep up the awesome projects
I love the project and drive, Scotty. Shine on!
Thank you for your video "How I Made My Own iPhone", I really enjoy it watching it, keep doing an amazing job here on youtube. Greetings from California USA, you have one more subscriber
i subscribed too!
Let me save you some time..Around 300$
thanks
somewhere between 300 and 100 he says. uh.
thanks
and money
If u don't break anything in the process and it all goes well
Nice video and subject buddy! Short video's like this are nice to watch! But most important, do what you like to do and what the best is for you!
Your videos are my wikipedia! Extraordinary work... well done!
Quick answer around 300$ and in the end 1000$ to make a good one
this should be at the top lol
What about making your own mac ?
oWo
Hackintosh? Or an actual computer
Intergalactic Gamer You're clearly missing the bigger picture. He means an but actual Mac. Building a computer or hackintosh is relatively easy. all those parts are readily available. Wouldn't be a great feat to do so.
Question is, why would you want a mac
Hackintosh?
I saw your other vedio how I made my iPhone..I like very much your patience and labour you done ..Nice appreciable ..Thx sharing d beautifully vdos ..!
Hey Dude,I just wanted to tell you-This video is as useful as your other "huge project'' videos!Keep up the good work and don't worry about the short videos,we love em too!
The answer lies at exactly 3:02.
Showing you the love by commenting love the videos you produce! I’d love to see a v-log showing China off! Or even like this one on set topics!
You sir earned a subscriber..... Really nice work.... I watched two of your videos before this one and I really liked them too..... Keep up the good work ☺☺☺
Please keep up with the making things videos as I can watch those all day! Your videos are very entertaining thank you
Yeah fair enough, because probably foreigner like your self, don't bargain much as local do ... I'm sure if someone buys in bulk or regulars can get a far better deal.
Fun project tho ... LOVE it ... you rocks
Showing some ❤️
My first venture into making my own iphone was back with the 4S, many people I knew were breaking theirs and planning to get rid/throw out these smashed up phones so I would get them for cheap/and or free.
Pull them a part and create working ones, swap parts for new screen etc sometimes to repair stores...
I at one time probably had 7-8 phones which made wonderful gifts to nephews or friends kids.
Thanks for the vids, enjoying them.
I'm glad you did this video. It answered a question I had after watching your build of the iphone video.
Your editing is TOPS!!! And thanks for the info!
You were in india 😱
Can you please mention what was your india visit was all about?
Yeah i think he want to eat dosa and samosa
Yatin Jethi he was? When tell me
butttaarrrr chikan
I think he was in Mumbai or thane
When i have time, lets build together..
It's always expensive to build something on a small scale. But it's more worth it to know you did it yourself! Your doing some great stuff bro. That is some detailed work on the headphone jack.
always a pleasure to watch your video's scotty...thanks bud
Now can you create your iPads ?
Guys like you inspire me. It is truly amazing to see how passionate a human being can be. It makes me sad sometimes that I cannot find something that drives me this badly. But watching your videos is a start and it really motivates me to get up and so some things that will bring some excitement into my life
This is a great end to the vids, and to tell ya about the quality....I never watch all of someones vids back to back like i have yours!!! Keep up the great videos, and thanks for the content!!
first, I heard about you but, REALY !! today (so 6 years later) just watch your video -- Thanks for sharing that experience
Next Video: How much does it cost to build your own Lamborghini?
Alfie Moon 😂😂😂😂😂😂
lmao
Alfie Moon it will cost around 10k for the frame unless you actually buy a actual lambs frame which is 50k+ But a homemade lambo frame is 10k the engine and .. inside is 45k and tires and chassis everything else is 50k so in total 105,000k
FPSNitron I can build you one in $45K
Alfie Moon iii
Very useful vid! And the burning question on everyone’s mind has been answered!
serpentza cheese and bacon

Your videos are awesome! Keep at it because you bring excitement and amazing content all the time.
