Assembling a phone is not that difficult, a lot of people do it in factory and it's easy once you learn it. Most people don't know how to do it cause 99.99% of the time it's not needed and of no use.
The Samsung parts are hard to tell the difference between, but that's what makes them so good normally. Samsung perfected the design for their parts to make it simple to assemble, so they don't make drastic changes for every new model. Apple, on the other hand, focuses on making their phones difficult to assemble, and more importantly difficult to take apart, so they change up the shapes of their parts every new model. That leads to more unique shapes for Apple, but a far simpler construction for Samsung, which I appreciate as someone who likes to fix my phone instead of throwing it away for every little problem that comes up.
@@moizahmed7392 I wasn't aware of that. Yeah, that's a pretty dumb thing to do, but I'm sure they did it for a simpler production process, not just to piss on people who want to fix their own phones. Still sucks though.
@@sudonim7552 i believe it was to remove the connection between the sub pba(motherboard) and the main pba. on a s9 the main board and the board with the charging port are separate and they have a small cable that connects them both, by making the board one solid piece they save on time and save space in the phone for a larger battery
The sheer amount of engineering in Samsung devices is wonderful. I've worked on a variety of mobile devices, but the pentalobe screwdriver and multi-length screws boggle me. I've also loved not only iFixit's guides and parts, but their fervent (if self-serving) participation in Right To Repair legislation. Your videos get watched every time I see them and I've subbed for years, so glad to see the content continuing.
Making a phone like that would be impossible. Different manufacturers use different connections, drivers etc. Even if he would be able to make one, he'd have to build an os + kernel for it.
Koome His concept, not theirs. Point would be to buy parts openly that are what they are, not looking for dubious spares or clones of a specific model. So he could start with a reference board from one of the chip makers (Qualcomm, MediaTek, or a less known brand), hook up parts like battery, cameras, screen, plugs etc. Use the part factories software kits and the Android reference software to cobble together a working phone. Fun part is finding suppliers who don't require a minimum buy of 10000 units to give him the files.

Exactly what I came here to say. The traditions especially are super tight.
I worked at a repair shop and we used midframe+screen replacements instead of just the glass. And I was able to pump out 8 to 10 Samsung's for every 3 iPhones.

Not cheaper than a used s9.
All the time and he did not mention the price of all the parts but he did bother to film how he was looking for S10. A flagship phone. Did he seriously expect there to be parts available already? What is even the point of this video?
@@DjSeptimus Well, yeah, I assume he thought he'd be able to find some brand new parts. It's been out and around for at least 4 months. Either that or he thought it was last years model or something, like he said, he never deals with android phones.
He was curious to know if they were available YET - As he pointed out. Then he went down a generation to see if that was possible.

@@BrawndoQC Fingerprint data isn't stored in sensor, your argument is invalid
@@kvviingu2507 It's stored on the phone. There's a reason why Apple wants you to pay between $269 and $329 to replace your home button, and it's security. When Apple introduced its Touch ID sensor for the iPhone 5s, the company needed to reassure its customers. Your fingerprints don't get uploaded to Apple's servers.

I'm phone -agnostic. I don't care what brand I use; BUT I just got a Motorola stylus 2021 and I love it. *Ensamble a whole Android in China

what was the total cost for all parts?
now you can try to build a samsung galaxy tab :-)
The Samsung parts are hard to tell the difference between, but that's what makes them so good normally. Samsung perfected the design for their parts to make it simple to assemble, so they don't make drastic changes for every new model. Apple, on the other hand, focuses on making their phones difficult to assemble, and more importantly difficult to take apart, so they change up the shapes of their parts every new model. That leads to more unique shapes for Apple, but a far simpler construction for Samsung, which I appreciate as someone who likes to fix my phone instead of throwing it away for every little problem that comes up.
It ended up with s10. The usb c port is now connected with the motherboard. Which makes it difficult to repair
@@moizahmed7392 true
@@moizahmed7392 I wasn't aware of that. Yeah, that's a pretty dumb thing to do, but I'm sure they did it for a simpler production process, not just to piss on people who want to fix their own phones. Still sucks though.
@@sudonim7552 i believe it was to remove the connection between the sub pba(motherboard) and the main pba. on a s9 the main board and the board with the charging port are separate and they have a small cable that connects them both, by making the board one solid piece they save on time and save space in the phone for a larger battery

Yep. It's not so hard when the manufacturer isn't literally doing everything they can to fight you every step of the way.

I would love to see a strange parts phone. no brand. some kind of hybrid would be awesome to see.
much easier to make a Generic Android smartphone with unbranded OS.
Thats what I was thinking,I'd love to see one with the best parts of every other phone
Making a phone like that would be impossible. Different manufacturers use different connections, drivers etc. Even if he would be able to make one, he'd have to build an os + kernel for it.
That would be hard since parts are very different from each other no standard is followed when making
@@markplott4820 what's an unbranded OS there no such thing as that. You can call it stock Android which phones do come like the Pixel

Challenge: Build your own concept phone.
Your dreams specs of course if possible
I was kind of hoping that is what this video was going to be.
