Spent like 6 hours trying to mimic the look of the octane Specular node in cycles…You def convinced me to give octane a try. Gonna see how it is in the morning!
I feel you man. I used to love octane but it's just not updated frequently enough for blender so I ended up not using it. The displacement is the one thing I miss though
Ive never heard of octane after two years in blender so far. There's still so much to learn to even make decent things that I'm not sure if i have it in me anymore 😮💨 This video makes me feel like a beginner again, ill have to come back to it in the future maybe
Hello buddy! incredible video! But I have a question! In the latest version of blender/blender octane, the "Octan tools" addon has disappeared! Do you know where to find him?
Cycles is usable but Octane is production ready. The only drawbacks of Octane Blender are: 1st. It is a Blender branch instead of an addon which could cause some conflicts like you have other addons which are Blender branches as well. 2nd. You will have to convert maps and shaders to Octane format in order to make Octane work. Sometimes it is time consuming. Other than those 2 factors, Octane is just a better choice.
@@chlbrn there is a blender addon version. it's in beta I think, but that's not a concern in my experience, because the 'stable' version is just as buggy
These comments weren't meant for you they were meant for somebody else who had made a comment about octane never being used in a VFX studio or in a professional pipeline only Cycles has been he deleted his message after he researched and saw that it was the opposite way around that comment was not meant for you 🙏🙏
And yes there is an actual add-on that's in beta right now on my channel I have a video talking about the new blender add-on that works with vanilla blender I'll drop the link for you and ask for the scenes and materials I start off my scene in octane so I don't have to convert materials there are tools that allow us to convert simple Cycles materials to Octane materials which I always use importing assets from blender kit
I've been running the stable version for the last 7 months and had no issues most people have issues when they don't have their GPU drivers properly cleaned and installed I had an issue with that when I upgraded my driver for my GPU blender started acting funny after I properly cleaned off the old drivers and reinstalled the new drivers I had no issues with octane blender standalone version what are you actually having issues with??
That's necessarily not true cuz I actually know people who have massive scenes built in blender octane but it all comes down to your system resources they have 40 80s supras 4090s and they have no issues with octane at all on very large scale scenes with lots of instances On the other hand when I was using my 1050 TI laptop I had issues just with small scenes it really comes down to your system hardware and that's why on OTOY website there is a free GPU benchmarking that will allow you to download for free and test your system to see if it's capable of running octane
I don't use blender but yes! It should at least. I've always just used an animated image sequence in the displacement slot if I needed it, like any slot. Otherwise an animated noise pattern will also work.
Hi ! I have a question about octane . What version should i get . blender version or addon version of octane and what's the latest and stable version of both standalone and addon? i tried c4d and octane before (as a blender user) . loved octane but c4d was not for me. ever since i am dreaming to try octane
At the moment the add-on is in beta I would recommend down to the loading the standard standalone version first I've had most successful and less issues running that until the add-on is out of beta if you need more help and information I have a Discord server where we're all about blender octane there and we can help you out Join the Octane Blender Discord: discord.com/invite/ZUvM3SrKqs

Octanes displacement is so superior to cycles. It was a real game changer for me.
I’m curious in what ways is it better?
I feel you man. I used to love octane but it's just not updated frequently enough for blender so I ended up not using it. The displacement is the one thing I miss though
What’s better about octane’s displacement compared to cycles’ adaptive subdivision?

Yes Octane tool is not working fully it's not converting materials but some of the other functions still work
Damn I never knew about this. That's awesome.
Ya it's a lil different from cycles
Octane Tools for Blender 4.2 is not working :( is there any stable version for 4.2 blender ?

@@1polygonewithme I don't see what is wrong, could you please point out?

Hey, nice video, dude !! tks !
Glad you liked it!
This is fantastic.
octane looks amazing, but i found that for big scenes cycles is way better, I don't know if it´s the build or what.

Does Octane render supports animated mapping node on displacement?

Yes the displacement note allows for animated sequences
Great
how can I use a dome proyecting a hdri texture

O 💩 😮 what happened?
@@1polygonewithme my laptop didn’t blow up) btw I’m genuinely surprised how well octane performs on a MacBook
Really 🤯 nice 👍 that's good to hear 🤓🤓👍
Hey man , any idea why my octane shows all black instead of showing the octane render??
