- The Retroid Pocket Flip is a beautiful device, that's super capable. But it isn't without its quirks! Here's my review after using the Retroid Pocket Flip extensively for the past 3 weeks.

I love this device! #TeamWatermelon what do you think of it?
Could you please do a setup video or a tips video I just ordered this and want the software you have to the run the games please.
Hey! I didn't know it was that easy to play NDs and 3ds on my flip. I'm glad I watched your video.
Really enjoyed your review! Thank you!
Thank you for introducing me to this device, this looks amazing!!!!
Nice video! Straight to point, I learned alot..
Nice video! Now I am even more sure to go for a Watermelon one. Love it!
Solid info and review 😊
Also agree with the intro noise when booting up! So annoying haha
Brilliant. I'm team 16bit US but I see the charm of the unit.
I'm with you on having too many games. I don't collect all of these handhelds like some people, but I do have a few just for different form factors. If it's a device that I'll only use occasionally, I've decided to only put my favorite games on it so it's less overwhelming.
Best real-world usage review of the Flip out there. Might just buy one, either the indigo or the 16 bit US version
great review! I was looking at this one, but ended up with a Miyoo Mini +
Man, totally agree with you on choice paralysis. I got into hording PC games, but finally uninstalling things has felt great.
Hoping they make a Flip+ soon.
You look just like someone I know who uses Micro Four Thirds cameras ;)
Enjoying this new channel :)
Haha amazing! My secret channel shhh 🤫 😂📸
I'm going to purchase one for exactly the same reasons, I love the clamshell design. It can just be thrown in whatever and the screen is protected, something I cannot do with my RG503. I own a steam deck, but just want something light for travel with limited hand luggage weight or to take on flights/coaches/trains etc. Steam deck in a third party case with everything (Power bank, 3rd party 65W international charger( Thank you for that one, worked a treat in Spain), Bluetooth controller, wireless ear buds, mp3 player and a wireless keyboard and mouse weighs about 5KG. Ok if going on long holidays where you know you are going to play it, but just for short ones where maybe a quick burst of gaming is required, I'd like something more portable. Once again a great video which seems to be in sync with my thinking.
Absolutely - once you add a power bank to the steam deck and the other accessories it’s a huge undertaking! The Flip is sooo handy for shorter trips!
Great review, I had a GPD XD and the clamshell desing is awesome in these handhelds. Unfortunatelly with a deck I can't justify buying this
Justification is overrated anyway😅 I have a Steamdeck as well, which I l absolutely love, but as far as handhelds go is at the extreme opposite end of ‘portable’. I can see myself take this to friends, hook it up to a TV with a couple of bt gamepads and rock some retro games. Above all it’s the clamshell design: I cherish my GBA SP Special NES-edition, my white DS-Lite, my DSi XL (so awesome) and my 3DS XL Samus edition.
Wowww 🤩👌🏻
Citra is running well on it?
I've been thinkinf of getting the Odin, but honestly if citra is playable on this, might get this instead. I love thay clamshell design.
Excellent video Emily. I don’t think I would really need this as I have a Steam Deck, 3DS XL and a ps vita. So for gaming on the go I’m sorted. I do like the clam shell design but it’s a little to pricey for me.
The Flip rocks! 16Bit is nice too.
im also thinking to buy this device how are pkmn games from gen 1-7 are they normal speed, and can blue be in color
I’m not going to lie, I am tempted to buy one of these 😅
I’ve got so many devices already, multiple 3DSes, Vitas, Anbernic things, a Steam Deck - I need to be strong and not buy more!
Great review though, cheers
I’m the same 😂 handhelds for days!
Sorry for the likely stupid question but does anyone know if I have to download a separate emulator to play the PAL version of PlayStation 2 games? Some of the games I want to play perform better if they're the PAL version.
how does it handle gamecube emulation? thanks for the video. hope we see more clamshell devices on the market
It depends on the game. Some play fine, some are awful. For example, the racing game, F-Zero GX, was very stuttery, I deleted that. But then some classics like Luigis Mansion, Mario Kart, and Metroid Prime were fine 😊
The screen is protected but I'd still NEVER throw it in a bag without a case because I don't want the shell to get scratched either.
Hi Emily, the Retroid Pocket Flip looks awesome! I enjoyed checking it out with my best friend. The emulation looks really nice. It is convenient that you can play classic Gameboy, Gamecube and PSP and N64 games. I have a question about the Retroid Pocket Flip
Sure what’s your question? 😊
Is there a limit to how many games you can download on the Retroid Flip? Can you play multiplayer games with friends if you both have one? How much storage space does the Retroid Flip have?
@@Emily_Lowrey Does the Retroid Flip come with a charger?
@@glx3846 It comes with a USB-C cable in the box but without a charging brick. You can just use one of your own or plug it into your laptop however :)
@@glx3846 Retroid Flip comes with 128GB of onboard ROM. Plus a Micro SD card slot for up to 1TB. You can fit however many games you want within those. And since it is based on Android 11, it can do multiplayer--depending on the game. Emulation-wise, it does all the retro games up to PS2 and Gamecube. It can also stream games from your PC/Steam, and from PS4/PS5--despite having to use Sony's proprietary Dualshock controller. You can also connect it to a monitor/TV via mini HDMI to HDMI cable.
hi emily,i have just 1 question,this or psvita cfw.or anbernic rg405m...almost 1 month and i couldnt decide.
Hmm the vita also has a lot to offer! I really love them both to be honest!
Does the device heat up just from inserting a sd card in its slot ,my phone does lol
Haha no not so far but I do know what you mean 😂
How's the Hinge?
So far so good, but I can see it being a stress point further down the line
Great video, hope it doesn't get dmca by nintendo
Me too 😅
I love this video 😊
