- The ROG Ally is here! And I think a lot of Steam Deck owners are asking, should you buy an ROG Ally if you already own a Steam Deck? So here are my thoughts.

What do you think!! Will you be getting an Ally?
steam os is a branch of linux not built from the ground up., id say from linux up ;D but i still like the video :D
also emulation on rog ally gives a endless all in one experience
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY 😊🎉❤😮
I think just get the new ayaneo 2s or ayaneo geek 1s before the price goes up 💕
Definitely the game pass, GOG, epic games and anti cheat games. Really not all steam deck games work well that are verified.
Yeah windows is janky but everyone uses it so it's positives outweigh it's negatives.
WTF YOU DID MAGIC YOU TURNED THE DECK INTO THE ALLY
That transition was magic!
That was 🔥
She used her wallet to do that!
Yeah that was pretty pro tbf
Haters will say it's editing 😂
That transition at the start was just.... Chefs kiss.
I’m sorry I’m just here to compliment that insane transition in the intro. 🔥
I have both and the asus is really doing it for me (minus bugs that will definitely smooth out). People have different game preferences that will benefit from the steam deck touch pads, but otherwise the asus just has the all-in-one nailed from the start. I don’t feel like I need to hack everything, and in general it feels more future proof for the time being. Asus is definitely better hardware too, where the steam deck feels 3d printed.
I love them both, but Asus figured something very viable out.
@@wigglytriangle explain why it’s horrible
what do you mean by 'future proof'? games you can run? not so long ago, all sd reviews were saying you can run everything on it. same will happen with ally. there will be games rather sooner than later, that won't be running all that smoothly. regarding support, sd is way more future proof.
Your transitions are fire!!!
Wow, absolutely loved the clean edit transition flip from steam deck to Rog Ally. This video gets a like from me just for that alone!
Cool transitions between the devices!
nice simple easy to explain video . many thanks
I liked the moment you did the flip 😅. Well done editing
Ooh thanks for 2:20, all the reviews and comparison seems to miss such important point but you talk about it. Thanks!!
Thank you for making this video, it has helped me about what I need to know about the rog ally.
Excellent review, I appreciate you getting straight to the point.
Love the review!
I really enjoyed this video thank you for putting the time into it
Ok, that intro handheld swap was slick as hell!
Just stumbled on your page for the first time, I love your video!
I've seen a lot of comparison videos, this might be my favorite. Subscribed.
Great review!
Finally an honest review! Love how you just get to the point and get facts straight 👌
Sick match cut!
this is the kind of video i've been looking for thank you
i absolutely love your steamdeck and general gaming content. you are just great :)
Nice video! Everything on point!
What an awesome channel. I’ve gone back through and watched all your content. Great content, awesome presentation, and you are a joy to watch and listen to. Keep up the great work!
Wow, I had to watch that intro a few times, what a transition!
Lovely review and great content. Subbed
You won me with your Steam Ally transition. 👏
nice edit on that flip of the steam deck becoming ally.. love it!
Great comparison thanks
That flip was sick :D
Love your micro 4/3 channel and I'm glad I found this one now! Awesome! 😊
Loved this video. You earned a sub!
Thumbs up for that cool flip transition alone.
That's one next level jump cut, holy moly!
that intro where you switch devices mid flip was freakin amazing.
Wow just found your channel and I love it!
This was really a good review.
Subbed for those amazing transitions , could not even see the edits , great overview and unbiased look at the devices
If i was to buy a new device and did not come acustomed to th QOL traits of the steamdeck i would go ally , but having a steamdeck makes the purchase a little tougher
Thank you for a proper review of the ally, I m definitely getting one ,
Great content. Excellent editing.
Honestly best review I've seen of the ROG Ally. Thanks for the vid!
Fair and honest assessment. Very informative. Thanks.
That intro was really cool! It was worth almost breaking your devices! hahaha. Great video!
Good comparison and as the first of your videos I've seen, I appreciate your style of presenting. Subscribed!
Just subscribed. Great video.
Great review by the way
Thanks for the video, I can't wait for the ally to be available in my country
Wow this video was GREAT. Just subbed 😎
Didn't watch the whole video but I loved the flipping editing trick at the beginning :)
Awesome video!
Wonderful review!
You got yourself another subscriber =)
Love the transistion, good video editing and great review 😊. I'm planning to buy once its available here in the Philippines just to make a full review and comparison video on Steam Deck.
Congratulations, this is one of the best comparison videos I've seen! I love your transitions and the way you explain things :). Whether it's the Steam Deck or the ROG Ally, I believe it's just the beginning of handheld consoles. There will be even more powerful ones coming in a few months, like the AOKZOE A1 Pro with an 8-inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel display, an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor, and support for up to 64GB of RAM.
What a great video. New sub!
Such a genuine review. I love windows and was raised on it and I have a steamdeck but I'm learning how to use the rog
This far the best video of comparing the steam deck vs the Ally. Thank you 😊
LOL this video is awesome thanks!
That beginning magic trick was awesome!! Great review!! I am still going to wait a bit to pick up the ally. It is looking great though. The reason that the battery life is so much better is that Valve's choice of APU is a very custom chip designed for great power at low TDP's, where the Z1 chip in the Ally is a laptop chip that is slightly tweaked for the ally.
Really well done comparison here - I think I'll stick with my Steam Deck for now, but I'm going to keep a close eye on the Ally and see how the software experience develops. There are times I find myself wishing the Deck had just a bit more power, but I'm sure if I had the Ally I'd just wind up thinking the same thing. Honestly, the prospect of quieter fans and better temp management is the biggest temptation for me. The Deck isn't really that bad in this regard (long as you got one with the "good" fan), but it would be really nice to have something quieter. It might be worth holding off for now and waiting another year for the next round of processors - that might make a new device feel like more of an upgrade.
I love the Steam Deck but want to own an Asus Rog Ally as well. The Steam Deck for games through Steam, and The Rog for those tough to play games on the SD like Returnal, FIFA 23, Hunt: Showdown... and Gamepass cuh!
Definitely just wait till the ally 2 comes out
The future is here
That flip 😮
Nice review 👍
Love finding awesome small channels before they become big.
Aww thanks so much!
Thanks for the comparison video! Now i gotta figure out how to sneak the ROG Ally into my house. :-)
This is the best video for the comparison of SD and ally . I have the means and pre-ordered the ally . Was thinking to cancel my preorder as I just love my deck . But won't cancel now . Thanks
Great video! Kudos on an objective review that mentions where you're being subjective because of your own preference
I love tech and I've had the steam deck for about 5 months. I was on the fence, however I think I'm good with the deck. My fear is that eventually I feel like everyone will begin releasing these and it'll turn into the gaming laptop world where nothing is unique or as unique as the steam deck. I love the specs, but I'm holding off until there's a legitimate need for an upgrade. I'm still blown away about the ease of use when it comes to the steam deck. It's an exciting time for gaming right now. On a side, note, excellent video. First time, I'll smash the sub button. Continued success and we'll see you soon.
I'm blow away by my steam deck also, If you want to see the absolute best looking game with crispest smoothest best graphics possible, I would recommend getting the division 2, my god man! It will make your jaw drop, I was completely blown away by the graphics, and how smooth it plays. Works exceptionally without even going into the options menu and doing any tinkering.
i also undervolted and overclocked my deck and tbh it squeezes out that last lil performance i needed, rog ally got nothing on customizability of the steam deck .
it can run some games the steam deck can't but i also have a decent pc rig for that to handle such things.
Nice video, greeting from Italy
This has been the most objective and best video I've seen, congratulations. I have also ordered an Ally and I'm waiting for it. A few friends of mine who have used Ally with the Windows operating system say it's a terrible experience, encountering a lot of errors in games and such. However, 90% of the people in the other videos I've watched say that Ally is a fantastic device with excellent performance. As someone who is not familiar with the PC side, I am very curious about what I should do. If the console works in a similar way to a PC, it will be very challenging for me
First time looking at your video and i must say im very impressed #subscribed
Yeah, it really depends on what you plan on playing. If you’re after higher graphics and performance, go with the Ally. If you want something more affordable with certain additional features (trackpads), go with the Steam Deck. Personally, I can’t give up playing Starcraft 2 trilogy in handheld mode. The trackpads are a must lol.
Trackpad don't mean shit and they about the same price
@@chriswright8074 lol no they're not. Base model Steam Deck is $399 and base model Ally is $599. And trackpads do mean shit when you're playing RTS games and using desktop mode.
@@amit_patel654 the track pads are a nice addition but aren’t necessarily needed. If you have the money why not buy both
@@hcastro35 The Ally is completely useless to me without trackpads, so no reason to buy both... plus I already have a high end gaming PC and gaming Laptop, so I only need 1 portable gaming device. Its not about money, I could line my walls with them if I wanted to... its just useless, same reason I hate consoles is I hate gaming controllers, and the Steam Deck fixes all that with the trackpads.
So if I wanted to Play wow what would be better?
When you said that we should get the Ally if we want it because it's our hobby... OMG it was so nice to hear. I sometimes feel bad about spending so much on gaming, but it makes me happy. Thank you!
OK those transitions are trippy.
that was smooth
The way she doesn't even flinch on the flip transition. I'd be terrified I would drop my device and am genuinely curious if you dropped it on any of your transitions
one of the coolest opening I've ever seen.
Great video! Although, you’ve stressed me out with your device tossing 😂. Turned out pretty cool though haha.
They collided at one point on the floor. My life flashed before my eyes 😂
@@Emily_Lowrey I reported you for device abuse! The authorities will likely be there soon! I’ve graciously let them know I can adopt them, we can discuss visitation at a later date.
I definitely like your conclusion! 🙂
I might think about getting an ROG Ally 2 or 3. At the moment the Steam Deck is more than sufficient.
Facts same here I'm satisfied with my Steam Deck at the moment as well I'll wait it out for the Deck 2 in a few years
@@brotha1984not facts performance sucks
@@chriswright8074 It's good enough for me 👍🏿
@@brotha1984 i hope valve doesnt change too much about the physical shape on the steam deck and only does other improvements like a bigger battery oled display and better fans and a slightly faster cpu for better ps3 emulation i would like these 4 the most
I fall in love with your channel from this review bravo !
I think people are more affection towards steam deck because they spent more time with it + valve support
cool flip
Your video is very informative. Subscribed. I’m thinking about getting in the handheld world.
I just have a series X and a 3ds to my name.
Thank you! 🙏 Warning: handhelds are very addictive 😂
@@Emily_Lowrey I’m on the recovery train so I spend a lot of time at the gym. I workout at home to. Other than those things I occasionally hang with friends or play games at home.
Quite exciting life I lead
nice jump cut effect in the beginning of your video
Great review and comparison. I’m like you, I’ll have both please, even though windows 11 is a major pain and somewhat hard for those of us less tech savvy to navigate. Well worth adding to the collection.
Bro what type of mud brain people are you navigating windows is not hard at all
Hi Emily,
Great comparison I have the Ally from one month. I love it, i use together with the nintendo switch. I travel a lot for work and i already have in my backpack a laptop for work, so the Ally is the best option for me. I like a lot play games when i am moving or waiting for something. So i like a lot the ally for this. I can even use photoshop, premiere or microsoft office in it. I have my 140watt powerbank and my xbox series x gamepad. I need only replace the external drive with 2TB and i have everything i need. Maybe if i want more power i can take a XG Mobile.
I just picked up an Ally last night and I have a Steam Deck since Feburary of this year and I must say I am extremly impressed with the Ally! It plays many games at not only a higher frame rate but you can get medium to high settings vs low settings on the Steam Deck, it charges much faster and the thermals are so much better as my hands dont get hot and sweaty like they dont on the SD. With all that said the Ally is not all gold check marks, navigating Windows with no track pads is a PIA especially when you need to do things like right click etc, I have had a few hiccups with just random hangs and things crashing or just not wanting to open up and of course your random Windows bugs you encounter.
With all that said I still will reccomend the Ally if you are familar with PC gaming and fiddleing with games and having to adjust settings, there have already been a few posts on Reddit where console gamers bought this to get into portable gaming and getting upset and returning it because the frames are to low or the game runs poorly but in reality they are setting all the game settings on Ultra performance expecting high FPS. I would reccomend the SD if you play a bunch of retro games since it can run at a lower power limit than the Ally can, want the track pads to navigate or just want a simple to use UI that all you need to do is download games and play them.
Overall they both are great but for serious gamers that want the best bang then the Ally is it!
the best thing about the steam deck is the fact that its pretty much the most comfortable handheld on the market valve really nailed the ergonomics
@@EuropaeusOrigo not really . I have both and I stopped using deck because its big and bulky
@@hk6926agree big and bulky and runs to hot
I have both now and I really like the steam deck but then again I also really like the R.O.G ally there both amazing handhelds in their own, ways one deals with Lenix, and the other one deals in windows it’s going to be crazy later on because I already see the handhelds wars coming like the Xbox and PlayStation wars I think the future is just around the corner if not here already have fun and thank you for the video it was inspiring 😊
Currently saving for the ROG ally. It will be my first handled device.🙏
I’m interested in the Ally but I’m gonna wait till the quality issues with buttons etc are sorted.
Really good vídeo
great videl
I subscribed because of your magic tricks 🤓
Oh god...now I want to buy an Ally now Ahhhhh 😅 Good work Emily, subscribed 👍
What a nice well balanced video compared to all the other videos I've watched on RUclips. Great Job👍 Subscribed
Ally can also run lightroom!!😂 I didn't know micro four nerds run tech channel. I am so happy to see you!
Ally seems to be for small group of people who need first pc on budget or want to play of exlusive aaa or online games in 1-2 hour short sessions.
Nice review. Windows 10 is the only OS on my Steam Deck and I'm happy. Roughly 250+ games playing on my Deck with little to no issue. 👍🏾
That’s probably the best of both worlds!
Hey M8! Do you happen to have any links to a tutorial on this process?? Thanks in advance!
yes get it its awesome
Great video. First viewer and I'm impressed 😊
Had to comment just due to the first three seconds. Brilliant magic trick 😦
Wow such magic 😮
Winded up owning both and your video sums up everything in a nutshell. You got my sub and my SD is going to be used for Emulation and Indies while the Ally will be used for AAA gaming. I am guilty for having Overwatch 2 and Forza Horizon 5 on both.
