This is so informative and I think everyone should be on the look out for traits like this. Even within yourself. YEEEEESSS!!! I am quick to the slow. I have a cousin who is like this. She never was accountable for anything she did. If I was happy, she'd turn it around IMMEDIATELY to make me feel "guilty". And I would hate that I felt guilty for nothing. I finally (after 40+ yrs) just cut her off completely. No warnings. I didnt want her to have time to turn things around. Never been happier. Like this HUGE burden has been lifted. . .
Jealousy is not a toxic trait, but how someone handles that emotion that is toxic. Being a bit jealous is a valid emotion so long as one doesn't act in a negative way due to that feeling.
Bullying is one way someone shows they're jealous of you. As is putting your accomplishments down or needing to outdo you.

I was unaware that people, especially females are like that. I've learned that every-damn-thing is a competition....the man in our lives and who can get the "better" one, children, jobs, hobbies, weight, beauty....EVERYTHING and when they feel as though they can't compete...WATCH OUT and they are snakes about their leveling the playing field. I'm been through it with females. That's why I don't have any female friends.

Perhaps they would be father along if they weren’t trying to jam up other people’s feeds with their stupidity.
What's scary is how far jealousy, envy and greed has taken individuals. It's not so much experiencing it but acting impulsively. It's not always evident but there's pretty obvious signs of jealousy like being possessive and passive aggressive in words and actions.

Don't listen to others, especially those who are jealous of you. Remember no one knows your story better than you do and only you know your true potential. And yes there are people who try to uplift you, but remember most want you to be successful but not more successful than them. The only advice and criticisms you should take are from yourself.

I had to cut off a toxic "friend" awhile back. We both have anxiety/depression, but the way they chose to handle their mental illness was not healthy (for themselves nor the relationships with the people around them). I started to work on myself to give them some hope that recovery is possible. I started seeing improvements after a lot of trial and error (I still have a ways to go, but I'd rather be where I am now than six years ago), but aside from my friend taking their meds they didn't do the work necessary to change their toxic behavior and their mental health and relationships suffered because of it. Long story short, whenever I saw an improvement for myself they would always tell me how "naturally" things came to me and would imply that I didn't have to try or that I wasn't truly struggling due to the results I got that they didn't. For awhile, it made me feel guilty for getting better and taking care of myself; they would use my accomplishments to self-deprecate or to win arguments between us.
Never feel guilty about helping yourself; you deserve to enjoy your accomplishments, especially when it comes to your mental health. If you have to cut anyone off that makes you think otherwise, it is perfectly understandable. Your relationship with yourself comes first before your relationship with anyone else.

Me and my friend had a crush on this boy, she ended up dating him and I was fine with it because me and him stayed friends, but I've been noticing that anytime her bf or any other guy gives me any form of attention, like praise or something, she's always quick to make rude jokes about me infront of them or quickly try and talk about herself to make her seem more interesting, like one time she made fun of my earrings because they were "too thin" and whenever one of my boy bffs asked to see my grades she'd always butt in and show off her's and she even told me once that I should ask HER boyfriend out to the school dance since I didn't have a date, I just found that completely disrespectful towards me and her bf.
Edit: She only started showing interest in him because she noticed me and him getting close.

One way to tell if someone is jealous of you, is to do something that you already know what you are doing , watch what that person does while you are finish doing it. They always try to emulate what you did, but try to talk down on you. I have always have this happen to me.

I had a friend (a boy), he liked me for a year. He would be “nice” but he’s worse than you think. He would make sexual assumptions behind my back, sometimes around me. My friend told me everything that he told her, telling her to not tell me about it but she had to tell me. Talked about s**, kissing, babies etc. I was so uncomfortable. Now I’m here. He talked behind my back, saying to spy on me and then, he backstabbed me. Whenever I come to talk to his friends, he just leaves. It was my birthday, I came to say hello and then he never said anything with a straight face like I was a stranger. I asked to be friends again, he just left with no consent, I asked again, around his friends. You guessed it, he turned around to his friends, then kinda shouted no. I’ll never forget that year

I loved the twist on this video! There was one consistent reference instead of many because this went hand and hand with specifically MHA. I also loved how the sticky-note pad with the reason on it flipped so that the end of the section reminded us what the reason was again. Don't get me wrong, I also love the usual format but it's always nice to see one of my favorite youtubers trying something new. The new animator seems to work really well with the team! 😁

I think to a degree I experienced that with one of my parents.
It’s pretty hard to live with someone who is constantly jealous of you. My older sister is very jealous of me sometimes to an extreme and harmful extent and always has been because I was considered the favorite child when in actuality me and my mom just have a better relationship. But I’ll never forget when I told her a got a new job that paid $20 and hour and she was so angry at me because I was making more then her or when she told her friend we were hanging out with that I never had a job and despite having multiple jobs or when she gets a better score on a video game we both play she won’t text me for weeks but as soon as she does some accomplishment that I am trying to do in a game like get a special character she has to let me know that she did it before me aka one uping. So yeah I’ve just sort of accepted it at this point and that she has to live with those difficult feelings of jealously.
Sorry about this... she may be projecting her own insecurities...

Jealousy is a form of selfishness. Try not to have this behavior. It is not becoming of a person.
Are you talking about jealousy or envy? We have the same words in french and the difference is that "envie" is trying to have something an other person has, and "jalousie" is the fear of losing something we already have. A husband is jealous because he is afraid his wife may leave him. "Envie" is also synonymous to desire, craving, or longing. I don't know if english has the same nuance.

If you have envy over someone when you are 11 years or older, that sure is pretty embarrassing. It shows he or she can’t appreciate the good things in your life, so you try to take that away from others.
I have a family member who is extremely jealous as well as his wife. They are even violent and aggressive. I always wondered if this was a combination of jealousy and something else. It’s like they enjoy hurting people. They have so much hate in their heart. I had to cut them out of my life for good due to their toxic behaviors. My roommate in college was exactly like this, and it's crazy because I really considered her my best friend. I'm upset at myself for not seeing the signs sooner, because she truly caused a lot of damage to me and my personal life. I'm glad to know now that I wasn't the issue, it was her just making me feel like everything was wrong with me. These people have no hearts. Stay away from them at all costs.

To be hones with you, this is really portraying someone with narcissistic personality disorder, as they will target you etc in the ways that are mentioned in the above. Sure , lots of people feel a bit envious or jealous of someone , but in moderation. Behaviour disorders are cruel and unkind , and many people who have them know exactly what they're doing to others.

Jealousy is something that I can't control control. At this point I don't even know if I'm jealous or just severely dislike her. I want to cut her off in my life, but I can't cause she's my friend. I'm afraid to hurt her. We were bestfriends, but lately we fought alot. So she found another group of friends. I didn't mind at first, but I found it offended how she blame me for make her suffer, and her new friends were the one's who kept her sane. This is where it got intense.
I'm an average girl, I don't do great at things. I'm just living and playing games. Just casual, and don't have alot of friends, but still functional. It’s the same with me. Been friends for nearly 6 years. This one friend is so successful that I start avoiding the person because I don’t want to handle my own insecurity when I’m with the person. The person said “it’s okay because I’m not that smart too” to comfort me and I decided to trust the person but then BAM, the person result is so good and mine is just the worst.
My friend once used to do all of these things to me, it was somewhat awkward because he always used to make me look stupid in front of others, thankfully we are now ok and he aparently no longer feels jealous about me, im kinda grateful to have him tbh

I have this ex-friend, ex-crush from college years who exactly describes like this. I try to be friendly with him, but turns out that my effort is in vain I decide to distance myself from him. We are both artists and I think he's jealous of my talent. He never leave me alone, he persistently picks on me and try to show the public everything he has that I don't have; spouse, children, nice car, money, fame etc. It is so childish. Honestly I don't care of all that, I have my struggles, he has his, I believe we all have them, too. He started to become a real pain in the ass. Seems like it's best to avoid him completely than letting him continue ruining my day.
My ex best friend acted like all of these, she talked behind my back, called me mean names, gaslight me, made a whole GC to insult me, disappeared for 3 months, tried to impersonate me.

im ashamed that I used to be like this :(my bad attitude and mental health caused me to be a terrible friend and yes it's not an excuse but it is a reason and I lost so many friends because of it.) I'm really glad that I became better this year and improved a lot but I still think about it from time to time :/
So what do you do when you know that someone is jealous of you and constantly tries to bring you down? How do you deal with someone like that? Do you cut them out? I have had this happen often and it has really bothered me to continue to grow and live with others around me always hating or having something mean to say about what I do. And on top of that copying me in what I also do. How do you as the victim deal with that?
I ended a twenty year friendship for these reasons, it obviously took me awhile but it's a very unhealthy thing for both of you, best wishes to you and take care
If you can't outright cut them off right now, try distancing yourself from them. And keep gradually increasing that distance until they are not in your life anymore.
