    Thank you for your instructions. It's now January 2023 and I was wondering if you could do this all again with present prices please. I did all this when we were students with half a pound of mince and made it into Lasagne, Chilli con Carne, Spaghetti Bolognaise and Shepherd's Pie. Made the mince go further by packing it out with vegetables. Another quick meal was a pork leg steak (small) grilled with one round of tinned pineapple (saved the other two rings for dessert the next day) and a large tin of sweetcorn. Beans on Toast, Grilled Tomato sandwiches, omelettes, cereal for breakfast or toast and honey.

    I just found you and Subscribed! LOL I hardly know you and we've already been through so much! I'm going to watch all of your videos that I have missed. I see (on the side) 10 Family Fish meals in 1 Hr. Can I tell you I have just recently been looking for Fish Freezer Meals? I think Batch Freezing by Proteins is brilliant. If you think about it -you can take 100 pieces of chicken season each one differently, wrap it in foil and you are good to go for lunches, dinners, salads...Grill it, Broil or Bake several for the week and surprise yourself with creative meals. Sounds perfect. Or Do 10 Fish, Beef or Pork and really switch it up. Thank you, for saving the world from Fast Food health problems! So many people don't even know where food comes from.

    I love the theory of one hour prep. I have only just found you and I have subscribed so hope everything you said is in typed up form as I could only catch every 2nd or 3rd word. I have trouble with fast talkers here in Oz, but I have an even harder time with your beautiful English accent. I’m sure my prep will take much more than 1 hour the first time but I am going to give it a go! Also wondering if you have alternative suggestions for the tinned soups as most tin soups have gluten ingredients. I have celiac disease and if I eat gluten food I am violently I’ll 3 hours after eating and am in bed for several hours.

      I don't know if you could eat corn starch or arrowroot or whatever other thickener you would use to make a gravy. But I think "cream of" soups are basically different types of milk gravy. I imagine you've already figured out the solution for yourself, but I thought someone like me might be reading that message and wonder.
      So I would recommend that however you can safely make gravy, make yourself some tasty gravy using your choice of tasty broth and/or milk, safe thickener, and appropriate additions such as mushrooms, onions, spices, sauces, etc.
      I don't know how well milk freezes, so I would recommend trying it first on only on one meal to freeze.
      Once you find a gravy base that you enjoy and that freezes well, you can make it, and freeze up a bunch of meals at once. Best wishes and good luck!

      I used to use a china marker. DON'T DO THAT! It flakes off. Now we use Sharpies, a permanent marker that works on most surfaces.
      Personally, I like to put a small scrap of paper on the inside of some bags, with important info written on it. I can read it through the plastic bag.

  • @dianehealey479
    @dianehealey479 5 лет назад

    Nice idea to have meals in the freezer. But I think with hunters chicken you could just save time and buy hunters chicken and put it in the freezer. And I'd rather just buy a ready meal curry if I was going to use a shop bought jar of sauce. I prefer recipes that contain actual ingredients rather than jars of sauces and cans of soup. Otherwise its no better than a ready meal.

    • @MissDarleneRae
      @MissDarleneRae 5 лет назад +4

      So, what's your point?

    • @TheBatchLady
      @TheBatchLady  5 лет назад +9

      This concept is all about saving time, while creating home cooked meals rather than eating ready meals full of E numbers etc. I generally never use Jars of sauce instead opt for Small jars of concentrated pastes which are great for adding flavour. Cans of soup are fab for making healthy sauces, compared to ready meal sauces. If its not your thing no worries, 70,000 people so far love the concept, why not give it a try, its cheaper than ready meals too

    • @katyjo4166
      @katyjo4166 3 года назад +1

      There's no reason why you can't apply the same method with homemade sauces. I think its more about time saving during the week whilst working all day. Granted woukd take longer prep, but still worth it.

    great preps, but why don't you keep your meals in washable boxes instead of so much plastic bags that will end up in garbage?

    • @TheBatchLady
      @TheBatchLady  5 лет назад +3

      Hi Orange 386, Thanks for getting in touch. So glad you like the idea of prep. I'm very conscious of the plastic used too but these bags are washable, and can be reused over and over, many people think they are single use. If you have room in a large freezer then I recommend freezing in glass pyrex dishes with removable lid, but if you have a small freezer as many people do then this allows you to save space. I also promote using silicone reusable bags as an alternative to plastic but they are still rather expensive for the majority of people to use all the time. I desperately hope someone comes out soon with a cheaper silicone bag. Ive made lots of video promoting cleaning bags and silicone bags etc, but will do another one on recycling your old bags, as I think its important that people see that they don't need to be single use. Thanks for watching, hope this helps alleviate your concerns. Happy batching x

    • @starilvara
      @starilvara 5 лет назад +2

      @@TheBatchLady What bags are these, I've not seen ones like this, only the thinner ones from the supermarket. I'm thinking of asking people for some silicone bags as birthday presents, because apparently that's who I am now... The ones I've seen are all really small, though, cool for freezing leftover bananas or whatever, not much good for this kind of purpose!

    I like the premise but you dont wash ANY of the chicken. Straight from the packet is gross!!!

    • @TheBatchLady
      @TheBatchLady  5 лет назад +13

      Hi Candice, Glad you like the premise. Please be aware that the health and safety food hygiene standards nowadays all state that ' Washing raw chicken before cooking it can increase your risk of food poisoning from campylobacter bacteria. Splashing water from washing chicken under a tap can spread the bacteria onto hands, work surfaces, clothing, and cooking equipment'. So I'm afraid I cannot advocate washing chicken in a home kitchen environment. I think this only changed a few years ago and not all are aware of it. But rest assured the chicken has been washed before being packaged in a safe environment.

      No don't wash chicken !! It's really bad for you . I got campylobacter a few years ago and was told it was because either didn't wash hands or washed the chicken . I was violently ill for 2 weeks 🤢 it was awful . I always wash hands surfaces etc but never wash the chicken itself . I also wash all utensils by hand then put in dishwasher. I'm paranoid about getting that ill again .
