My mum happened to mention ‘The Batch Lady’ after reading an article and I’m so glad she did.
I have been searching for ‘normal’ recipes instead of all the fancy ones found in lots of cook books.
I have tried in the past to be a good cook and have failed plenty of times. Your recipes are making my life easier and I am so enjoying eating the lovely meals.
So far I have tried your chilli, beef burgers, chicken enchiladas, chicken pie, homemade pizza and pepper popper chicken. They have all been a hit and my husband thinks I’ve swallowed a cookbook.
    Thank you :)

Lisa, what a lovely commit you have brightened my night. So great that you have tried so many recipes, Im all about normal cooking for normal people! I have a huge following on Facebook and give lots of top tips on this page, do come over and take a look, we are starting batch club and a club group where everyone can chat who's into batch cooking. xx

I add butter beans and baked beans in to chili to make it stretch further. I also add (about half the weight of the mince) red lentils adding extra fiber and protein ☺

Yum sounds lovely, rather like my vegetarian chilli recipe... I adore butter beans

I have been wanting to try this for a few months now and today I finally did! I think I ended up making too much chilli but overall I have probably 8 meals out of 2 hours of cooking for me! I am a bit slower but this is still so much easier and quicker! I followed the video for the overall ingredients and didn't really measure anything or check the printed recipes. They all still turned out great! I just made sure to taste them as I went. I also threw some bread crumbs in the meatballs and burgers. Thank you so much for this - it is life changing!

For anyone who wants the exact ingredients (I didn’t double the recipe as there is only 2 adults and 1 toddler in our house so this would still make us 10 meals)
    Chopped Tomatoes: 6 Cans
    Passata: 1,500g (3 cartons)
    Tomatoe purée: 6 tbs
    Oregano: 9 tbsp
    Garlic Puree: 3tsp
    Mince: 2,600g
    Grated Carrots: 6 cups
    Frozen Mushrooms: 3 cups
    Frozen onions: 7 cups
    Chilli powder: 3 tsb
    Kidney Beans: 1 can
    Mustard: 3tbs
    Worcester Sauce: 8tbs
    Fajitas Mix: 2 Packs (30g)
    Basil: 3tsp
    Egg: 1
I went through all the recipes to add this up😂
I’ve also just added all of this up into Asda’s App and going by the cheapest items I could find it came to a total of £24.03... Which is £0.81p per serving.

Can also get kidney beans in chilli sauce (bit extra cost but nice, not too spicy), which will add extra flavour and sauce along with saving time rinsing!
    Excellent ideas. 👍

I'm inspired by you to become a more efficient cook for my family of three. Just have to make space in my freezer like most of us here :)
I have a couple of questions:
    1. Normally we will only have beef once a week. Will the ten meals stay fresh in the freezer for ten weeks (given I have enough space in the freezer) or would it be wiser to make half the amount?
    2. Can the freezable sealer bags ;) be used more than once? I feel like it's a lot of plastic to waste if they're used only once.
Looking forward to hearing from you! You are amazing!

The Batch Lady Just finished batch cooking the now! It took a bit longer than I thought as obviously I wasn’t used to it and was checking recipes, etc... But I think I’ll be quicker next time! Plus I did it with kids on my own while hubby was at work and that was an experience itself!😂 Got them to do the burgers and we have very odd shaped ones. It was good though, will definitely try this again but I’ll be more organised and have my hubby help! xx

    • @TheBatchLady
      @TheBatchLady  6 лет назад

Love that you did it and super hats off for doing it with the kids!! how fab you now have 10 meals in the freezer. you will get quicker each time you do it, as you get used to the recipes etc. I have a video on how to prep your kitchen before hand so it helps with time, such as emptying the bins, filling the sink, emptying the dish washer and laying out all ingredients in order. Well done you, hope you keep going with it, I promise it saves time and money xx
