The Nike TNs are absolutely huge in german speaking countrys. These were already really popular but the influence of 187 (the guy in the TN car is one of them) pushed this shoe even further.
I am 56 years old now and in the 80 and 90s the Nike Cortez was known as a gangster shoe so much that they banned them in some high school in Los Angeles, if you wore them to school they sent you home. I was one of the guys they sent home from school and had to get a parent's note not to wear those shoes to school in order to come back lol.
Air Max Plus (TN) was the most weared sneakers by drug dealers in France too. If you was wearing one in the 90's you was labeled drug dealer. We don't see them much in the shelves of US big collector, it more an european trend. Just bought a fresh all white pairs lately (now that I'm 51 !) to remember when I was a young thug :)
100% accurate: the relevance of TNs in France is maybe the reason why TN are big in Italy too. Squalos (that's the TNs nickname here in Italy) were sported by the first generations of north African drugs dealers by the end of the 90's as heavily influenced by French rappers.
I’m from Baltimore and Growing up in 2000s and early 2010s Nike Foamposites were expensive and were so popular amongst drug dealers the whole city referred to them as “Dopes” and still do to this day.
I have 75% of alllll these shoes in multiple color ways in my closet today! Wearing Air Max 95 right now! Being a 70’s baby from NY, my closet has always resembled a hustler😩😫😆😆Great vid!
Here on the West Coast, dope boys also wore Filas, Ellesse, Diadora, Troop, and BK (British Knights). If you really had loot, you rocked the latest Air Jordans.
I was a kid in the 80s, my older cousins wore all these shoes. I was 10 in 89, my granny got me a pair of red & white lo top BKs.. my dad didn't like me wearing them lol...
I think Pro Keds are massively underrated. Compared to the regular converse they are much more comfortable. A little wider in the forefoot. Canvas thicker; just a better shoe. Also fila has some nice styles very classic.
In Detroit, It was Adidas Top Tens, Concords , Forums and Fila Original Low Tennis shoe. OG's in Boston and Detroit to this day still rock Adidas Top Tens, Concords and Forums
My mother and grandma grew up in a neighborhood near Watts that eventually became crip territory, and of course the shoe of choice in the neighborhood was the Nike Cortez. My grandma still lives there to this day and they have mad respect for her. The cholos still got on the Cortez' and the whole neighborhood know that I'm her grandson so they don't start beef with me 😂😂
To this day that's the reason I dont wear them. I've had buddies pulled aside and searched I think just because they had those on...they also did other things but yeah

Yeah man and Air 1’s got popular in the 2000’s. Fila Fx 100’s weren’t out in the 80’s either. There was other shit too that was just wrong. Dope topic, poor execution.
That Slick Rick line referred to the Bally Classic shoe. Not the sneaker. Look at his red ones he’s wearing on his Great adventures of Slick Rick album cover. No one wore green socks with sneakers like they do today but we matched our socks with the Bally shoes because they came in a lot of colors. Sneakers weren’t the only thing we wore in the 80’s and 90’s in NY. Look at that pic around 5:40. We wore linen and silk dress shit with Ballys & Wallabees compared to DC. Ny did not wear track suits. We wore Lees jean jacket and pants. Something Run DMC emulated from them boys in the streets.
Lmao definitely an interesting topic! I was waiting for you to mention the black AF1s! Funny to see that even NB was favored by drug dealers for their comfort! Great video as always!
Absolutely loving your channel's content. Utilizing sneakers as a prism to look at the cultural and social contexts in which these shoes became prevalent - now that's interesting and substantial content
I’m a District native. We were the front runners of street style in the late 80’s and early 90’s. We had a signature style and it all started from the hustlers. Madness Connection is the first street clothing line ever and it was a must to rock either Gucci, Fila, even New Balance with your Madness fit. You’re on point with your most of these picks. However I will say you missed one of the most significant shoes for hustlers ever - Jordan 3. 1988 was the height of the era and the Jordan3 was thee must have for status seekers.
I'm from LA i took a trip to Atlanta for a work convention. Of course I wore my Cortez because that's the only tennis shoes I own. I went to a nightclub but they didn't want to let me in with the Cortez even though half the crowd had on tennis shoes. I was able to convince the bouncer to let me in by showing him my convention I.D. I didn't know they recognized Cortez in Atlanta.
@@cobracommander9138 they don’t the bouncer was just being a dic head it’s more like how much more are you willing to pay me to let you in they be trying to get their hustle on
Man I love this video. It reminds me of the iconic 95s when in queens NY I would come outside as a young teen and see all the Colombians that hustled on my block wearing the neon 95s. Now I own 5 pairs because of that era.
I'm from Liverpool in the UK and 95's have always been the most popular shoe by far especially the og neon colourway, we call them 110's here though because they retailed for £110 when they released in 95, if you go the next city over to Manchester they wear TN's instead
You got it wrong. Those Adidas sneakers were a ball player sneaker. The song is La Di Da Di. The Bally shoe in the song referenced the rubber bottom Bally shoe not the sneaker. The Reebok Exo-Fit was a hustler dress sneaker yiu chilled out in. Pro-Keds Royales and 69ers were a NYC lifestyle basketball shoe that came out out decades before Gucci Tennis 84. Pro Keds were a 70s sneaker. AF-1 was a ball player shoe All that hustler stuff comes decades after
Always wanted a pair of OG AM95s but never been lucky enough in recent years or had the £ in the early days to own the OGs. They were being rocked with striped Polo rugbys and Armani denim in 90s South East London
Here in São Paulo, Brazil we have 3 iconic dope boy sneakers, the Mizuno wave prophecy line, nike shox (specially the TL and R4) and oakley boots. If you see anyone in one of these shoes in the street, u know he either did or is doing dirt
Curious selection. Mizuno have never been a popular street brand if have always been a specialize sport brand. More for volleyball, running and baseball. But almost invisible in the streets or casual seting
I remember so many of these 90s sneakers. Funny cuz like he said in the beginning, after hustling all day or week, we were just trying to buy stuff to show out
My OGs was chopping it up about this last week! Lol They said all the Pushers from 1980 all the way to about 2005 in New York City would rock AF1 high mid or low, any Adidas Classic, Air Max 87s and 90s, Pro Keds or if you was really earning money, the Gucci Tennis or any Air Jordan 1 thru 14. Yo they even remembered during the peak of the crack era, like ‘87-‘90, Air Js flooded the streets. EVERYBODY was making money during them years! And then in ‘91 heroin took over and cocaine made a comeback. A lot of people were still earning, but the late 80s very early 90s ANYBODY WHO WAS ANYBODY was getting money. I love them stories man. What a time to be alive for real.
Fun fact: the air max plus is also France’s Nike Cortez. It is often called TN or “requin”, for its resemblance with a shark, shapewise and colorwise with the OG Hyper Blue colorway
And that's why you guys are one of the most interesting channels about sneakers. Just like you said there are sneakers on this list that I do not wear due to the area I grew up in, or visit around the Bay Area.
Hip hop historians always say the 4 parts of hip hop are 1.Graffiti 2.DJing 3.MCing 4.BreakDancing, but the one part we always forget and was before those 4, is FASHION.The way we dressed in NYC in the 70s and 80s defined and spoke a lot about us.You could even tell what borough a person was from by the way they dressed. And when we went outta state EVERYBODY knew we were from NYC.
Bruh, I feel like I'm being profiled in this video lmao. As a former street pharmacist Im dying laughing remembering buying several Cortez, Reebok classic and the air limited. Like a status symbol for the hood. Good times
As a former dealer myself, I wore what I liked. If it wasn't a common sneaker, I'd bust those down too. I've always been known for having a good fashion sense before I started hustling.

Man I know I'm late to the party but, I remember being in high school in 85/86 and the dope boy shoe was most diffidently the Gucci and Bally competition(also the Bally Ace). Both pairs were over $200. Also down here in New Orleans the Fila jogging suits were ok but the true dope boys had the Christan Dior Velour with the matching suede Bally boots. Man talk about ice cold ha ha ha. I was lucky enough to not be able to afford any of those(meaning it would have brought too much attention to me) and my mom would have beat the crap out of me if I had tried to sell dope LOL. I loved that style.

In Houston the air flights was a big hustler shoe when I was a kid. There were red, black, baby blue and white ones. I wanted some of those so bad lol. Actually got some when they were sold as retros!
NYC was defininently rockin the Gucci. we use to go to Secaucus New Jersey, because the Manhattan store wouldn't let us in. I remember making $3.35 an hour at burger king, and wearing$150 bally shoes.
Where can you get Ballys for $150? Lol after they pulled em out of a dumpster? Their Ballys not Jordan 1s, you should look up a pair before you say something so stupid…
In the 80s everybody in the hood was into sneakers. We didn't consider ourselves to be "sneakerheads." It was just our culture. Everybody wore fly shoes because that was the culture. The only shoes that were strictly drug dealer shoes were the Gucci sneakers and Super-Tims. Most of the other shoes were a little expensive but still affordable if you or your parents had money. Drug dealer stuff was anything that cost more than $200 or $300. $300 in 1986 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $786.96 today. So drug dealer stuff was: Anything Gucci, Super-Tims, Triple Fat Goose Coats, Serac Coats, Eddie Bauer Coats, EK Glasses, Sergio Tacchini Tracksuits...etc. Drug Dealers wore the super expensive stuff. It's not accurate to say that everyone in the hood modeled their style after drug dealers. Drug dealers are just dudes that grew up in the same hood we did, going to the same schools. They weren't always the trendsetters.
I absolutely love this Channel but I feel the need to correct you on this, a lot of the sneakers on the list were just popular in the inner city overall. I would not call them “drug dealer “sneakers of choice. Please don’t confuse drug culture with inner city, black or hip-hop culture. A lot of those photos that you shared of people from the 80s are images Jamel Shabazz captured and mostly all of them are just neighborhood people, not drug dealers. A lot of the sneakers on the list were made popular by hip-hop, not drug dealers.
Thank you for pointing that out. I’m definitely going based off lore and things I read online. I also asked a bunch of homies who lived through that era in Harlem and the Bronx. Obviously drug dealers weren’t heavily photographed and I felt like Jamal’s photos really captured that era so I used them. My bad if it offended you in anyway! Much love -Bryan
WRONG. People imitated the drug dealers, not the other way around. Hiphop / black / inner city culture has always started with the dope boys or pimps and trickled down the the everyday school kid. Not the reverse like you are implying. The fact that these figures are glorified in this culture is a whole other topic.
the dope dealers were the fashion icons cause they made the money.. they had it first.. and the block was their catwalk.. the inner city youth then adapts it
Reminds me of this kid I knew in Gatlinburg TN that wore 3 sizes too big skater shoes (DC probably) and kept weighed out quarter bags of weed for quick sale in them while wearing. If you saw him in these shoes he was holding.
We can’t leave out the footwear upper level Jamaican drug dealers were wearing, travel foxes. Most of the Airmax 95s were won by a lot of drug dealer baby mamas in Brooklyn as well as pastel Reeboks otherwise known as 5211s
I didn’t realise my collection was so bad but good at the same time. The TN here in Australia really is the pinnacle of up to no good shoe. For the price you just about have to rob someone to get a pair or just rob someone of there shoes. There is an article Australia’s most F$&koff shoe. And it goes into great detail around the stigma of the shoe.
Fun fact: @9:38 187 Straßenbande's rapper LX based out of Hamburg, Germany sitting in the Nike TN wrapped C-Class, which I believe they had wrapped when they dropped the single "Haifisch Nikes", a now synonym for the Nike TN in Germany. Not only does LX and the crew around Bonez MC sport a lot of TN sneakers, you will also see them rockin the Nike Presto.
I had all those except the Bally’s. Gucci and Fila tennis were my favorites and I still wear them. Nike Cortez we’re my first Nike’s. Before that we only wore chucks and pro keds. I’m a early 70’s baby
Cortez's are a great shoe. Comfy as fuck, last forever and damn near waterproof. A great shoe to go on a nature walk, go on a bike ride, or run from the cops.
Great indepth content, wasn't expecting a history of drug dealer's sneakers to go back a century. On the subject of hood foot ware, I was wondering about the current trend of work boots from the Tim's, choice brand in that show The Wire, to Nike boots that I'm seeing more of. There's always a popular trend, boots being the current one, and that filters down to the hood and how the outlaw faction chooses their own version of it.
the timbs/nike boots thing in the eastcoast was probably born out of the same thing as the skinheads in london in the 60s adopting doc martens, working mans uniform that eventually became wider fashion.
Really enjoyed this one lads. I always find it a little strange how people who try to avoid the police end up adopting some kind of uniform. That essentially makes them easier to identify but I’m sure we’ve all adopted a style (uniform) of some sort, at some time.
If you a salesman you have to look the part. Nobody wants to buy drugs from someone that approaches them looking like a bum. It was some lowkey dudes that didn’t dress the part but they were guys who were supplying the block like Fritz from Harlem
So when you see colored wear them cheap to expensive shoes that means there drug dealing ..I have seen everything. Lost hope for this place renamed called america... stereotyping based on shoes ..tf out of here .
I remember (2005-6) that all the crack dealers in the midwest seemed to be rocking gray Jordans, but at that time, I (and a lot of dudes) also had the black forces. At my peak (2016) I definitely favored the Cortez or air maxs. I always stayed with some addidas in the closet too. Great video. My dude and I used to have this discussion at work from time to time. Other than the fact that I would have added some Jordans, I'd say you have a pretty solid list.
Forgot the Foams they called em Dopes cause only Dope Dealers could only get em do to their high value & side pocket sock liner to hide baggies And Diadora’s they used real Italian cut leather
I went to high school in the 80's and I tried to be original in my dress. I used to wear diadora, Avia, and le coq sportif sneakers, but Lotto, Kangaroo, K-Swiss and the Reebok classic were stylish also.
@The Loser Network i only wear the classic adidas, such as the Rod Laver tennis. They're all white, canvas material green on the bottom and back of the heel. Timberland had a casual sneaker also.
Now, that i've collected the "first award" 😏..... as far as 80s-90s california. .. the all white k-swiss, Chuck taylor high tops, nike cortez, stacey adams boots, and jordans
In the early 80s , in Philly and Detroit, the adidas Top Ten were almost strict domain of dope boys and stick-up kids . I have to correct the video's assertion that the NB 990 was the first $100 sneakers, because the Top Ten in 1980 was that . You would rarely see your average nerd kid wearing them even if his family had the means . My own older brother who sold drugs and bought me things was adamant about not buying them for me because he knew I would have been tested. Also, wearing Top Ten Adidas then were indicating to the neighborhood that you were nice with your fists .
In the 1980s, Baltimore had Top Tens in flavors both highs and lows, Ivan Lendi shoes, gear and warm ups. Velour adidas warm ups as well as Nike AF1s in flavors with the warm ups and gear. Mondawmin was the main location in West Baltimore to set you straight for any event as a teen.
I don't know, I was born in 1975, BX NY. Had all these styles, wasn't a drug dealer, just fashionable. From Pro Keds to Lottos where you can add different color patches, Filas, Adidas cleats, Reeboks, the hightops that came in all colors and the white running ones, all white K-Swiss, Diadora's, Asics, then Nike, we had Cortez, Bo Jackson's, Air Max, then Jordan of course. Til this day I am a sneaker lover - just stick to Jordan 1's, Air Max and Yeezy now. But cool vid, thanks.

I remember the Dug E Fresh video with his Ballys sneakers shooting the Adidas in 85 ,Heavy D and the boys with the coco cola suits and their Diadoras 86 , KRS and Doug EFresh with Nikes in 88, Slick Rick with Bally shoes in 88, these were the big shoes in my hood in South Side Jamaica Queens in the 80s
Back In the 90's in my little home town Colón City Panamá the Adidas Stan Smith were the Narco kicks, I tried getting a pair and it didn't go well for me at home.
What about post-early and mid 1990s? I feel like street wear took over the early/mid 2000s. Saw a lot of Jordan brand, Dunks, Bapesta, Ice Cream, Supra, AF1s, and Air Max 95s. 2010s were so varied. High fashion crept back in. YEEZY was launched. SB Dunks took a nose dive then found relevance by the end of the decade. No one stands on the corner unless they’re pushing low quantities. The dudes at the top have always rocked expensive leathers for their boots/dress shoes. Real bold skins or high end full grain leather, at minimum. I’m 28 years old, and god damn are fashion trends so heavy on ‘90s styles again. I don’t think there’s many rave kids still selling ecstasy and acid in D3s or some puffy DC or éS throwback skate shoe.
you could look back on the last 5-7 years and definitely see the popularity of older air maxes, superstars and air forces. I just bought some 90s but swear i've seen them almost my entire life except I wore skate brands more when I was younger.
@@NachoAverageFinds now days they want all the exclusive over priced limited addition jordan 1s like dior's, travis scott's, etc.....basically the ones no one else can afford besides ballers and rappers
The sneakers street hustle culture started from a brother in Harlem by the name of Guy Fisher. Back in the 70's when he started rocking the Adidas with his tuxedos and suits etc. Russell paid respect to him through the group RUN DMC.
In Detroit in the 80's the Adidas Top Tens and Forums were definitely the dopeboy shoes of choice. YBI, the biggest drug ring of that era made them part of their uniform. They're still popular and have almost a cult status there even today.
This is a phenomenal video idea. I’m only up to Gucci’s but I have that the Bo-Jackson get mentioned for the early 2000’s.. that’s what i wore as a failed drug dealer..

I have 75% of alllll these shoes in multiple color ways in my closet today! Wearing Air Max 95 right now! Being a 70’s baby from NY, my closet has always resembled a hustler😩😫😆😆Great vid!
Former hustler from Detroit.... I had those Gucci gym Shoes....
I want to do a whole video on the rise and fall of British knights
We didn't really do BK's that much, but the rest were common here in NYC.
Bk's aka "Blood Killers" on the west coast
Ellesse 👟 Str8 facts had a pair in 93 on clearance 😂😂😂😂
I think Pro Keds are massively underrated. Compared to the regular converse they are much more comfortable. A little wider in the forefoot. Canvas thicker; just a better shoe. Also fila has some nice styles very classic.
Every drug dealer in New Olreans in the 90s rocked the Reebok Classics
In Detroit, It was Adidas Top Tens, Concords , Forums and Fila Original Low Tennis shoe. OG's in Boston and Detroit to this day still rock Adidas Top Tens, Concords and Forums
My mother and grandma grew up in a neighborhood near Watts that eventually became crip territory, and of course the shoe of choice in the neighborhood was the Nike Cortez. My grandma still lives there to this day and they have mad respect for her. The cholos still got on the Cortez' and the whole neighborhood know that I'm her grandson so they don't start beef with me 😂😂
Haha It’s wild man. They’re hoods like that were fashion is frozen in time. All the cholos still think it’s the 90s. Thanks for watching man!
I mostly wore the road runners

You are spot on about New Balance in the DMV area....The sneaker still is the #1 sneaker in the DMV...Keep up the GREAT work!!!

It's true bro! The New Balance 990 man
First 100 dollar pair of sneakers was new balance
Black AF’s are not drug dealer shoes. They are “rob the drug dealer” shoes. They are the choice of sneakers for dusty smirkish individuals.
Good orthopedics for back alley athletic situations

Good vid. NY did Cortez before the 90s. Wow! It’s crazy how you actually showed all the dope boy kicks. Great research bro-
I’m a District native.
Down here In Atlanta in the 80's we called the Cortez "Dope Man Nikes". I didn't even know they were called Cortez until I got older...lol
That’s what we called dem in the mid west too homie
I'm from LA i took a trip to Atlanta for a work convention. Of course I wore my Cortez because that's the only tennis shoes I own. I went to a nightclub but they didn't want to let me in with the Cortez even though half the crowd had on tennis shoes. I was able to convince the bouncer to let me in by showing him my convention I.D. I didn't know they recognized Cortez in Atlanta.
@@cobracommander9138 they don’t the bouncer was just being a dic head it’s more like how much more are you willing to pay me to let you in they be trying to get their hustle on

Same. If my youngest kid woulda been a boy, his name woulda been Cortez.
The Nike TN Mercedes is from Germany bro, wich where and now again are also highly sought after almost displacing the reebok classic 😴
Being raised in NY from the late 80s I also remember seeing the D boys rocking Reebok pumps as well as Ewing’s And Jordan’s

Hip hop fashion was inspired by the dope boys

I didn’t realise my collection was so bad but good at the same time. The TN here in Australia really is the pinnacle of up to no good shoe.

I was going to say the K-Swiss was missing.
Speak on it!!! ALSO, am I wrong, but, wasn't the shoe worn by the Top Ten Players of the era the 1st $100 sports shoe???
I don't know, I was born in 1975, BX NY. Had all these styles, wasn't a drug dealer, just fashionable. From Pro Keds to Lottos where you can add different color patches, Filas, Adidas cleats, Reeboks, the hightops that came in all colors and the white running ones, all white K-Swiss, Diadora's, Asics, then Nike, we had Cortez, Bo Jackson's, Air Max, then Jordan of course. Til this day I am a sneaker lover - just stick to Jordan 1's, Air Max and Yeezy now. But cool vid, thanks.

Back In the 90's in my little home town Colón City Panamá the Adidas Stan Smith were the Narco kicks, I tried getting a pair and it didn't go well for me at home.
95's and tn's still everywhere here in UK. Classic trainer.

The sneakers street hustle culture started from a brother in Harlem by the name of Guy Fisher. Back in the 70's when he started rocking the Adidas with his tuxedos and suits etc. Russell paid respect to him through the group RUN DMC.
In the UK and Europe a lot of these trainers and others, particularly addidas and reebok were popularised by football hooligans not drug dealers.
In Detroit in the 80's the Adidas Top Tens and Forums were definitely the dopeboy shoes of choice. YBI, the biggest drug ring of that era made them part of their uniform. They're still popular and have almost a cult status there even today.

I've ROCKED sum FLY ASS KICKS IN MY LIFETIME!!!!👟👟👟👟👟👟👟👟👟👟👟
Air Max 95 were big in the UK (London), I got kicked out of college trying to hustle the money to get a pair😦.
RT fam they were sick
which year was this?
@@visualsbts1547...... Summer 1995 with the original colourway neon green and grey. The Air Max2 set the pace with the three air bubbles for the first time in summer 94, they caused a frenzy that summer but for some strange reason up until today Nike have never released them again.....maybe soon?. Most so called sneaker heads below a certain age don't know about the Air Max2 1994.
@@equinox95 ohh ok ok , what were the mandem wearing in ends during the early 90s like 1993 or 1994 times?
@@equinox95 air Max 2 in 94 , you mean the Charles Barkley?
I maybe am new to New Balance, but I didn't expect the new balance 990 to be "gangsta shoes" 🤣.
Speaking of NB, could you please do a video on the NB 574? Since I just got a secondhand pair a few days ago and I'd like to know more about them.
Yea that’s really a DMV thing they mainly wore NBs. Especially the 990v2
@@jwhite7104 ah... May I ask what's this DMV thingy? Since I still don't know a lot about American culture and all 😅
@@Krisna404 DC, Maryland, and Virginia.. mainly the Washington DC Metro area which encompasses Maryland, DC and parts of Northern Virginia
Higher numbered New Balances have always been more expensive than Nikes and Jordans..
@@Christian9TNAT3 ah ok. Thanks for the info mate.
Regarding NB retail prices, as far as I am concerned, NBs cost almost the same as their rivals in Indonesia. But in the resell market, NBs are somewhat cheaper (maybe due to the "not-quite-hype" factor?). Although the higher number NBs like 99x series are harder to come by, since many folks here (including me) are concerned with the usage of pigskin and all that.
Respect for learning aussies street culture
I’ve been thru 90-100 pairs of Tns so far and they are overly well known here 🔥
9:40 nike air max TN are the equivalent of corteiz but for FRENCH people not australian
The biggest drug dealer shoes here in Australia are the Nike Air TN s !!! Very notorious for drug dealers
I need that Air Max TN car
in italy too
Would have thought more just Eshays that drug dealers
@@NachoAverageFinds this picture is not of Australia , its from Germany and especially Hamburg .
And the look alike car is from a gangsta rap crew called 187 strassenbande .
@SPNKr16 Where are you from? To be honest though at least its not other Air Max's though because the other AMs are a much better shoe in my opinion so its good the eshays / drug dealers wear the TNs hahahaa Got a big criminal stigma on them here in Australia, all eshays wear them and dealers, dont see much eshays wearing other Air Maxs tbh
In Detroit, it was the Gucci's, Top Tens, and Cortez which were literally called "Dope Boys"... I know some parents including my own who refused to buy them because they thought they were only for drug dealers lol... They were great for running in though so maybe they were good for drug dealers lol
lol yeah like in 2004-2005 ?
Here in Italy they were drug dealer shoes in that period
I mostly rocked top tens and dopemans in the 80's, i remembered having about 10-12 pairs of Nike Cortez, at one time
@@dimmacommunication In the late 80's, early 90's...
@@ddogg71 I've only had 2 or 3 pair ever
@@robert.mills5 Nah, in 2004 too
"these reeboks were equipped for withstanding long hours on the block" 😂🤣😂
You showed Fila but don't forget "LL Cool J" troop in the early days. Then with reebok classics were its rival k-swiss classics. Loved the video.
We kept a lot of sneaker companies in business smh. All capitalizing off the culture.
I had Reebok Classics and Forces growing up and a closet full of Fila Nike and Jordan right now
“ Drug Dealer Shoes “ 🤣😂
All this ties to the hip hop culture that started in NYC ! White/black AF1 got their name “ uptown’s “ because it was an uptown thing to rock Nikes.
LA Lights. Still remember stories of cops finding dealers because of those things lighting up.
Lmao haha that's funny. I believe it!
Troops were a popular dope boy sneaker for summer 88 and immediately fell off after that. I remember they had different models all named after sports cars. I had a pair of the Lamborghini. I remember Diadoras were also popular around that time as well. New Balance being on the list surprised me. Those were more popular amongst the backpackers and what we would refer to today as the "woke" crowd . Native Tongue rappers Tribe Called Quest and Jungle Brothers were known for wearing NBs . I guess Iit really depends on what area of the states you lived in during that time. Great video!!
I'd have to agree.... Maybe it was a Native thing, but I think I mostly saw those guys in Wally's or Butters.... FIla Original Fitness, FX 100..... Ice Lamb by Troop..... BK..... sergio.... ANYTHING "Italian" colored..... (SMH)
Troop cobra 🔥🔥
