Fantastic video Al ! Ripper kingie ! Always wondered what a fishing guide does on his day off - Go fishing of course 🤣
Hahah yeah well I would like to fish even more often if I could 😅👍
G’day Alex , good to see you in your element mate. What a nice King fish! Cheers….
Yes felt like right I’m my element. Love kings ❤️
What a fight Alex! Well done.
Hey Carol
Yes it was a real blast. And when they get 3-4 times heavier in weight it is spectacular!
Outstanding Alex! When the camera captured your screams from that distance I knew it was a cracker 👌 👌 👌
Hahah yeah I get pretty excited. Cheers mate
Just before the big swell bits us too.
Nice catch Alex
Yes the big swells were consistent back then
Good fun mate, I'd love to see how you rig the gatfish
Amazing Alex! Good stuff mate. Cracker fish!
Thanks mate
I was fortunate to get that one strike and land it.
Another Amazing video!
Hey thanks mate
Wish I had more time to do them.
Awesome result , good luck
Cheers mate
I would like one more before July 🤔
Nice fish off the rocks. Good job 👍your scales are spot on . In New Zealand we measure then from the nose to the v in the tail and that fish looked 80 to 85cm. When they hit a metre ( to the v) they go over ten kilos. Nice fish. If you iki and bleed them the flesh is white. If you let them flap around they bruise themselves, and marinate themselves in adrenaline. Much better to eat if you can kill them quick and prevent flapping
Hi Joe
Yes understand the measurements to the fork which is practically. But fisheries measures it to the tip of the tail. And yes understand flapping around on the rocks which I try to avoid but I am filming trying on to get footage. And keeping fish alive in a pond in a keeper net enables me to decide whether to release a fish or upgrade.
Thanks for your advice cheers
Fish that have been out of water for about an hour or so often loose about 1kg of water weight. The bigger they are the more they loose in weight. It's water weight that gets out of the fishes body.
Great work 👏👍👌
Thanks mate cheers
Nice fish Al.
Cheers mate much appreciated
That first Watsons would be an epic live bait.....:D
Yea it sure would have been I will do a vid on large live baits for kings in the future 👍
nice video I like this video
thanks for sharing
Hi Turkey 🦃

Love it
thanks mate the person that gaffed it very component angler too
Go Alex King of the stones mate havernt seen ya for a while sick rsd kingfish good old ganged gar dose the job gaf old school to
Thanks mate
The sea gars work so well, unfortunately they are pretty expensive now day’s especially the large ones.
Freaking awesome catch!
Personally, I wouldn't release it and just call it a day. Never caught a kingfish so far - only bronze whaler shark of the same size.
I do a lot of kingfish guiding tours so maybe in season consider doing one.
@@AlexBellissimo I'm keen. How to organise?
Alex as a part time visitor to the rocks I am yet to get a suitable life jacket for rock fishing. I have the carbon dioxide gas pull string style in my boat. Can you recommend one and let me know where they are available?
I recommend the PFD 50+ Hobie life jacket. You should be able to purchase them at BCF
Solid kingy Alex. In your experience do you think decent kings are harder to find? I used to fish the rocks off the east coast very regularly and it was common to at least hook a decent king every now and then. These days rarely come across them.
Yep definitely harder to find decent kings! Funny that anglers that hook and get annihilated by big kings and say there going to catch that again one day. Often not the case! A lot of those kings are hooked too deep in the mouth or even worse in the throat and to add a 10-13kg drag setting or even more , it may have ripped vital organs. If the king cuts them off the king may not survive anyway.
A percentage of the large king population are gone from anglers being way too heavy handed. Also the spearos contribute to the decline. And of course the largest percentage the boat anglers that intercept them in Late Oct and early Nov before they come in closer for the rock angler for the late spring/ summer run.
@@AlexBellissimo hey mate. Great insight. Thank you for your reply. Really appreciated.
The fact they can pull so hard and don't know when to stop, The ultra heavy drags on modern reels would definitely have an impact on their survival rates after being hooked and released.
I've moved out of the Sydney area and no longer fish northern Sydney ledges anymore. I'm Up near Newcastle and given it a good crack off the rocks up here, with not much luck. I've noticed there is always a stack of bait at the spots I fish at and can catch them at anytime of the day. Sounds promising but that suggests a lack of bigger fish eating them maybe? Thank you again for the reply. You are a gentleman. It was a pleasure crossing paths with you about 15 years ago at North Head ledge. Take care
Hey man I got smoked by kings or sharks or what ever that kept on eating my yakka 8 time, 8 TIMES so I am gonna upgrade my gear, was looking at the saltist hyper stickbaiter S792-4/6 with a 8000 Saltist MQ with PE 4 j braid, how about that as a Sydney harbour land based heavy live bait set up?
Awesome catch Alex is that a Penn ss reel your using?
Thanks mate much appreciated.
The reel is a Daiwa 10000 BG MQ
Hi Alex, may i know how is cost if i tag along when you do this sort of fishing?
Hi Teemoos
I can organise a group of two which for example will be you and another person for a total of $550.00. That will be $275.00 per person. Please send me your details on my website inquiry www.bellissimocharters.com.au with the days you can do like week days or week ends and I will contact you when I can find another person. Also take into account it is near the end of the season.
Great fish, hard to make the gaff call while landing on the stones in the wash zone.
Thanks mate and the angler that gaffed the fish is a talented angler and great bloke
Also have a seajigger 325h is yours the lighter one is that a bg 4000 on it thanks alex🐟
Hi Brett
Check out the description for all of the gear cheers
Awesome video mate, quick question what brand are those rock shoes?
Cheers
It’s Nike brand bro.
@@brucewu3622 you are worse then a puffer fish.... bro...
how often do the 15,20 or 25kg models turn up there in sydney?
The larger models have become much more rarer in the past five years or so. They can turn up In Nov/Dec/Jan then in May/June and July.
Nice one… where do you get your gars
You can get sea gars from some tackle shops or from good fish shops.
Still got my Craig mcgill fishing Sydney DVD were he get u to take him fishing for big pigs and kings McGill useing big pink sluggo plastic u on garfish that pic of you holding yur biggest king at like 27kg on a rogger popper so sick al
Hahah I had hair back then 🤣.
Hope to catch a massive king again in my life time
I guess you are fishing the East Coast, a person wouldn't last long on the South Coast fishing like that. You might be familiar with those waters but they look damn frightening to me, stay safe on the rocks everyone.
Thanks for your advice but I calculate wherever I fish up and down the coast which I also fish thanks 👍
What’s the weight of the egg sinker that you have on?
it nis a size 2 or 3 ball
Hi Alex, great fish mate, I have a question for you. I’m partially disabled and that place looks safer than other spots I’ve tried to explore, would you mind sharing that location please?
Trust me this place is not easy to get to and you have to fish this platform on the lowest of swell.
It's a dangerous spot if you don't read the weather properly
I was fishing today and someone caught 2 80cm king on the same rig as you. I’m a beginner how do you set up this rig
Garfish one
if you wan to learn a lot more contact me for a fishing/guiding trip
Good job Alex
What rod reel and line did u use
Regards
Hi Alex
Check the description for the gear used

The earth
@@brucewu3622 you must have spent hours to come up with that one.....quite a genius!
@@davidc3311 what a dumb sentence.
South curl curl
I know a guy Jim Bardman he likes to catch big dog salmon. He like it a lot
Massive salmon in that 4+ kg size are great fun on the right gear.
Keep fishing ,still young
Hope to fish for at least a couple more decades at least ❤️
G’day Alex , good to see you in your element mate. What a nice King fish! Cheers….
