I would say one of the best Tedtalk I have ever watched. First time I listened to it was a couple of years ago. It changed my tolerance to bs and I value myself a lot more.
Worry comes from the ego. Unconditional love comes from the soul. And when you get in touch with your soul, you will learn your self worth, your value as a divine being, and you find you have no need for worry. This is a great talk, thanks for sharing!
So true! After I going though separation from my ex, my "appointment's with worry" was my therapy I had for a year. Talking about everything that I was upset about and going through used to make me feel worse. I felt relieved when it ended. Going to the gym during that year was very therapeutic and empowering. Also, saying "no" to toxic people. 💪 Amazing TED talk, thank you!🙌❤☺
Wow. That is quite an interesting insight. "What we tolerate we worry about". Means we aren't taking action. I suddenly see worry as a friend, just getting my attention to do something about what I'm tolerating. Like a light on the car dashboard indicating I need to make an adjustment. Cool. That is quite a paradigm shift.
Fantastic! Merci Isabelle! My mother made me embrace my hero within when I was around 12 yrs old, and I am also forever grateful. Love your energy, your passion and your humor!
This is awesome and very well told! Love your style and you do look free from worries! My father was a worrying person until the day he died. He worried about his children, family, loved ones, even the politics and the country, so we, as the children, have to make him not worry. I quit that cycle because it was manipulative and I don’t want to hide things just to make him not worry. I was hated big time by the family when I told the my truth. Felt guilty a bit but I felt free and liberated to be me and live my life. It is my life, his happiness is his responsibility, not mine.
Today I spoke my truth and got rid of such a weight !!! THANK YOU. I'm glad I stumbled upon this eye opening message a few days ago. I've been very stressed about a project I was asked to volunteer for. At first I was in but once I started to get more information about it and start to work with the team I had this guy feeling inside of me telling me I wasn't feeling it and that I didn't want to do it. But I didn't listen to myself and tried as hard as I could to force myself into it but deep down, I knew I was forcing myself (and not in a good way). It was litteraly consuming me with worry. So today I decided I was going to be brave and SPEAK MY TRUTH, be HONEST. And guess what ??? The person I spoke with was really understanding and kind and thanked me for my honesty. I am so happy that I took the decision to be honest. Now I feel so relieved and I feel stronger.
@@mahaswetadas7260 That is not what I meant, I should've clarified. I think it is possible to take care of your mental health without becoming apathetic to what is happening around you.

I love talks like this one, where the speaker is sharing the wisdom that they learned from life. Be true to yourself, and don’t tolerate anything less than that from yourself.
Things are never as bad as we think and they will never be as good as we want them .to be !!!! so we just gotta take things day by day and appreciate the life we are blessed with .
Wow empowering changed my prospective. Im one of those who always finds herself saying yes and constantly worrying the outcome or why i have to always. Working out of those habits that do contribute towards worrying. Amazing talk!! 👏
I can’t hit the like button enough. This is something I need to forward to my entire family, to my kids and hear a couple times til I get used to not tolerate the things I know I will worry about if I do. She is brilliant.
Parabéns, Isabelle, amei a palestra.
This TED talk gave me chills! Such an amazing, charismatic, and inspiring speaker! I think the best TED talk I’ve ever seen. Thank you for somehow with your words making me cringe at how weak I have been being and how strong I will become.
I must tell you Isabelle, you are truly a gem. You have incredible insight into how worry directly relates to everything that can negatively impact one's life and how it holds us back from happiness. Thank you~
"Do not be afraid to speak your truth" That's exactly what I did 7 weeks ago before I handed in my notice of resignation after 11&1/2 years as a financial controller of a private co., instead of slaving long hours for another 6 months to implement a new system with no guarantee of a promised pay rise. Bloody Amazing feeling to take back one's power when your boss denies your request for a review & attempts to discredit you 'as a person' to justify his decision instead of judging my "impeccable work" performance. Yes you read that right "impeccable..." - and those were his words.
A wise man once told me "If you wake up tomorrow morning, and you think 'Gee, I'm glad I worried about that!' then it was worth the worry... if you worry about something, think "will I be happy to have worried about this tomorrow morning," dismiss that thought and do something that makes you or others happy instead.
H=Hush the noise and chatter so you can reconnect with what you truly want E=Evaluate what and who you are tolerating in your life R=Ritualize the habits that have the habits to be your best self…daily rituals ie “me time” O= Own what you stand for
I very much enjoyed your stories and the formula! I truly admit when I keep to my routine in the mornings, walking my pups first thing, and spending an hour moving around. Playtime with my family and animals. Then I head to the computer, open the Tube and start a motivational video. Then I write down the "Start Today" by Racheal Hollis. Where you write out 5 things you're grateful for, 10 dreams I have already accomplished, and the last is the goal I will achieve first. Then I am usually mentally prepared to start studying. What she has to say really has resonated with me and I am going to watch it a few more times. Thank you, Isabelle!
I'm always seen as someone who observe zero tolerance, which my family and friends find it quite annoying. Sometimes, I feel I'm being mean to others because of this, so it's nice to know from this talk, that all this while I was doing justice to myself for a worry free life (:
What we tolerate is what we worry about... what a great point. It's like saying, if you don't want to clean the stains off the carpet later, don't let the muddy shoes walk in. I LOVE it!! We don't listen to our thoughts enough to know that we actually know that we have the CHOICE to think them, we just assume they come and we NEED to think them. And it's so not true. God bless you and your share, it was refreshing to hear you talk.
Loved her more than her speech. What an amazing way to live life to the fullest. Love the energy, love the idea and absolutely loved you for sharing in such a hilarious way.
TRUTH ON FIRE. love it. I strive to live this way...compassionate but honest and yes, some people may not like it, but as soon as I feel an unease or just "tolerating" something, I shift, speak my truth and low and behold...I am peaceful, satisfied and the other person or situation can get on however it does...it is personal freedom on a daily basis that can then translate miraculously into peace of mind, better health and better more fulfilling relationships. Booya.
This was a very enlightening video. Often times I worry abt what my family thinks and so called friends. Especially in situations that causes anger and frustration. This was very helpful.

Very compelling video about worry. I like "what you tolerate, you worry about." Kill worry with decisive action.
nothing in the world is worth of your peace of mind
Exactly.
That seems to be a bit selfish.
@@walidchtioui9328 is it selfish to care about your own mental health?
@@mahaswetadas7260 That is not what I meant, I should've clarified.
I think it is possible to take care of your mental health without becoming apathetic to what is happening around you.
@@walidchtioui9328 I was saying this on the reference that not all battles need to be fought.
Tx Isabelle, this is one hell of a powerful talk.
Tx Marjorie. I had fun delivering it and I learn A LOT about myself in the process.

I like u
Marjorie J. Renn only if you put it into practice :) Good luck blossom
Isabelle Mercier-Turcotte ... I discoevered this talk quote by chance but at a real struggle in my life. I just brought a book to help me lay out the steps in to succeed. Thank you, Ms Mercier-Turcotte. This has been a breath of fresh air. :)
I love talks like this one, where the speaker is sharing the wisdom that they learned from life. Be true to yourself, and don’t tolerate anything less than that from yourself.
The most inspirational talk I've ever heard. Bless you wherever you are.
Anastasia G. Thank you soooo much for taking the time to comment. I am on Vancouver Island and loving it ;-)
The power of saying, No! It's absolutely freeing. And the power of confronting a bully is indeed life-changing.
Isabelle's passion and amazing energy is contagious and addictive - simply amazing
What a privilege to be there live to witness this talk!!
Loved loved loved having you there. Experiencing this great moment with you was a total treat ;-)
I must tell you Isabelle, you are truly a gem. You have incredible insight into how worry directly relates to everything that can negatively impact one's life and how it holds us back from happiness. Thank you~
I LOVE her hair, her outfit, her showcasing that tattoo AND what she’s saying. She’s being herself and I love it. Also love the shoes. 😊
A wise man once told me "If you wake up tomorrow morning, and you think 'Gee, I'm glad I worried about that!' then it was worth the worry... if you worry about something, think "will I be happy to have worried about this tomorrow morning," dismiss that thought and do something that makes you or others happy instead.
man, this is what I needed as a teenager... but growing up in the 90's we did not have youtube or TED Talks... todays youth is SO lucky
H=Hush the noise and chatter so you can reconnect with what you truly want
E=Evaluate what and who you are tolerating in your life
R=Ritualize the habits that have the habits to be your best self…daily rituals ie “me time”
O= Own what you stand for
This woman is a brilliant speaker. Her delivery is captivating. She could be used as an example in any public speaking class.
Love this talk in every way possible. Thank you.
Isabelle you are a beautiful and amazing force! Your presentation is brilliant! Your talk will help millions the world over! #RepurposeWorry #HERO
Thanks Maureen...that's a huge compliment coming from you ;-)
Still is one of my favourite tedx talks. I re-watch it regularly
Booya.
Absolutely brilliant how she connect with the audience.
This is so deep. "What you tolerate, you worry about."
Wow!!!
Beaming from ear to ear.....thank you Isabelle...it's for you:) Love it.x
Very deep. I think more people need to listen to this amazing woman. Thank you Isabelle.
This woman is an exceptional speaker. Many of the Ted speakers are good but not great
I love LOVE the line what you tolerate you worry about.
This was a very enlightening video. Often times I worry abt what my family thinks and so called friends. Especially in situations that causes anger and frustration. This was very helpful.
People pleasing is a curse. 😭
Very inspirational
You go girl!!! So sweet to see a young woman speaking her truth!! Special thanks 😊 to you for sharing your life and loves. Bringing joy to a very older woman who chose to live ✨ ❤ in another way.
and this is how it's done!
LOL! Thanks Mary!
I REALLY enjoyed this Ted talk
It is her rich personality, funny présentation, great insight that makes all the difference. The ending was great, the karma part. My morning ritual is watching One or two Ted talks on my way to work, wouldn't change it for the whole world. Thank a lot ! A Ted talk to watch again and again
Oh how I needed this talk right now ..Very insightful and a down to earth charismatic lady delivering it .Thank you
Thank you much Isabelle! This was a powerful and inspirational talk. "What you tolerate you worry about." wow this phrase made realize how many things we tolerate and sacrifice our own life just because of our fear to say NO and put our needs first. Thanks again.
This was most electrifying TED talk I have ever heard ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
I cannot express how much i apreciate this speech. She adresses everything that needs to be adressed, I wish more people could see this.
“Do not be afraid to speak your truth.” 👏
You have a wonderful presence and I love how you told this story of yours. I'm sure you'll become many people's hero's ✌️❤️
Thanks for this talk, Isabelle. I am a therapist and I can definitely use some of these ideas with my clients. Great stuff!! :-)
Same here!!! Hello my fellow change agent👋🏾
This was wonderful! I've had my fare share of worrying. The "what if" or "what will they think". Trying to keep things together & recently learned how to let go of the toxicity. People love to project their issues on others, I've stepped away from it. This talk gave me one more tool in my journey. Thank you! 💙
I love how she speaks.
This is one of the best TED Talks I have ever heard. Wonderful Isabelle.
Stuart Liittle | Thank you for taking the time to watch my TEDx talk and to actually share with me your appreciation. I am thrilled to hear that you found it valuable. Tell me...What’s one thing that you will change in your life as a result of it?
"what you tolerate you worry about.... when you say yes and you really want to say no. what you tolerate will always sooner or later, drive you to worry"
that's why Jesus says let your yes be yes and your no no
These individuals really need to grow up yes if that's what you want to do... And no to things you don't agree with or unacceptable behaviour it really is that simple and the sooner we learn this lesson the better our lives will be.
Brillant, absolument brillant! Ciao, L
I was greatly impressed by your topic which is so relevant especially for our previous generations (I was raised mostly in Québec, during that era) where we spent most of our time and energies pleasing everybody else but ourselves (friends, neighbors, community, town, etc.). I got to a point where people like me would lose their own identity and become chameleons. Time for a change, time to act! Thank you for this great lecture, Ciao, L
Such an engaging talk. She's a great storyteller 🖤
One of the proven formulas to become a hero. Being who you really are and what you really want equals being a hero. Thank you.
