Reclaimed Wood, No Posh Tools, Folding Table Goodness
I wanted a folding table for the workshop, and I could ('should') have looked at other examples to find out how they are made. I chose not to and wanted the challenge of figuring it out with relatively basic tools and reclaimed wood. Here's how I did it!

Soft Start upgrade for my Evolution R255TBL saw
Просмотров 3 тыс.Месяц назад
The base model of the Evolution R255TBL site saw doesn't have the luxury of a soft start. The jolt as you turn on the saw can be quite distracting, also a big amperage drawer on power, as well as wearing on the motor. So I bought a soft start module to attach myself - Buying the Plus version of the saw would have this as standard. I AM NOT AN ELECTRICIAN AND IF YOU DO AS I HAVE IN THIS VIDEO IT...

    Great video. The reviews I've seen of the R2555TBL+ have all been very poditive so I've just ordered one. I was aware of the riving knife issue as it had been highlighted in a couple of reviews, but I took the easy option of getting Evolution's shark fin riving knife. Evolution also offer a zero clearance insert, but I didn't get that as I thought I would try to 3D print one. Not sure whether you've perfected your insert design yet, but if u have, and if it's available, I'd be interested in your AMF or STL file.

    Nicely done Dean. I had a groan of self righteous indignation when the inevitable 3D printing arrived as its such a waste of unrecyclable resources, but thats just me. That drill guide geegaw looks it was designed by someone who has never used a drill. I wonder how many tons of landfill are generated by people browsing and printing this rubbish

    • @WoodworkJourney
      @WoodworkJourney 3 дня назад

      LOL Thanks Richard. Annoyingly the same things are all over Amazon etc etc, and I can’t see how they’d help drill straight regardless of what they’re made of. In positive news though I’ll be recycling my failed prints etc though, so it won’t go straight to a landfill. Don’t forget though, while PLA does need higher temps, it is recyclable as opposed to things like plastic bottles and other plastics so that’s better than nothin’ 😊

    Dean, great video. I've been meaning to do something similar. Steve Ramsey (WWFMM) in the US has a video on the exact build process. Great instructions on how to. BTW, I just noticed that we share the same medical conditions, including AS. I totally understand & feel your pain & resting periods. This is no joke & something I don't wish upon anyone. Unfortunately, my left shoulder/neck bones are fusing together. Extremely limited on motion, both looking left & right or up & down. Not something I expected to deal with in my 40s, but gotta roll with the punches sometimes. Hope you have more, better days than bad. Take care of yourself. the proposed regulations were on the HSE website when I looked a few months ago. The proposal does not apply to domestic users. I agree about the comapny and also wouldn't want to have to use something that has been forced on us through lobbying and NGOS, Sawstop became a youtube fad at the start of the decade, because influencers gobbled up the free saws, but I've noticed quite a few makers returning to other brands like Grizzly and Powermatic.

    I have a secondhand Ryobi 10" table saw, i use it to joint pallet boards, with a jointing/tapering jig I've made. It does the job I need it to do and I give it the utmost respect it deserves. It has a brand new blade on, but the fence needs sorting as it does not go all the way across the table, and flexes. My biggest concern with the fence is that it is never going to be capable of taking sheet material, which is what I would like to be able to cut down on it. I would like to be able to make a new fence eventually when I've got a bit more confident in my new found hobby. Or better still replce it with a better table saw, like the new Evolution. Keep the great videos coming Dean take care, and Merry Christmas matey.
