Do the seedlings roots completely cover the CD? Do you remove the cd once the tree outgrows it so the trunk can continue to thicken with out the cd interfering with growth? Also how have the mesh projects turned out so far! Definitely sounds like a fantastic experiment that could end up with great results

What growing zone do you live in? I just purchased a twisted pom and think it may need a couple of years in the ground. I live in zone 6a in Southern Ohio do you think I could get away with growing in the ground a couple of years. It's root base needs big improvement and there is very little twist in the trunk as of now. It's probably close to a 3" thick double trunk with the split an inch and a half from the root base.

If you're making air layers on the field, where you won't see it too often, make it with a bag... pots require watering, bags don't, at least until well rooted.

Dear, I have bought "wonder cat" cat litter to use it in my mix for bonsai soil. I discovered that it has a smell of lavander. can I use it or it will heart the roots

I think if you don't want to take off branches etc in the last one- just cut your plate in half down the middle after drilling the hole, then attach it back together after putting the two pieces around the base of the tree? you could weld it, tie it via a couple of holes, etc etc ?

The washers are too small imo. You might get better results using some CDs since their surface area is wider, the roots will grow more lateral.

I thought it was best practise not to cut more than 60% of the tap root off ? And also if the Nabari gets big and chunky ,will the branch structure ever catch up so that the tree will look in Proportion,do you know what I mean ?
