keep us updated on the progress. Gonna use the alcohol trick again on my ficus now . never got it to take after 2 tries last year using bag/moss/twister ties as it only developed slime and no new roots Also gonna us e the pot/putty method instead this time to avoid the issues thanks !
Good luck with the new job! Just started one myself and know how it consumes time and energy. Spring is so slow here in the UK the first leaves of the maples are only just pushing on some. Hope the airlayer takes this time. With that flair you created it will be worth the wait.
If you're making air layers on the field, where you won't see it too often, make it with a bag... pots require watering, bags don't, at least until well rooted.
The younger one is probably only five years old. The older one is probably 20. I've had it for about 8 years and it was already fairly old when I got it.
@@smalltrees should have took a couple off, even straight ones so you could get the goodness to the bottom, would have took another year are two but would have been worth it buddy

Sounds good! Let me know how it works!

I appreciate it! Yes, if it will take, it should be pretty nice. Fingers crossed!

Any update?
Hi, how old approximately is the trident with the seeds?

why did you airlayer that far down the tree, could have two good ones off the top and done that one a year later
Very true. Last year the tree wasn't nearly as thick and I didn't see anything but straight lines above where I tried to layer.

@@smalltrees you might do best to chop the hight down m8, if you not bothered about little ones,
Car reveal!!!
I think your exposed layer is to small, it might work sometimes but doing it like that will not give you a lot of chance of success.
I noticed that too when watching the film. I may go back and widen it further.
