Five Minute Velo
Великобритания
Добавлен 6 апр 2020
My name is Terry and I love cycling. I have cycled for over 40years and in that time I have ridden well over 350,000km, see my Strava profile. I am a member of Cambridge Cycling Club and Audax UK.
Why Five Minute Velo. Well there are a large number of cycling channels but many videos are too long to fit in to busy lives. So the five minutes relates to the maximum length of my videos, many will be shorter. I will aim to upload one video per week.
In this channel I'll pass on my cycling experience through video blogs, tips, tricks and maintenance advice. I do like good value (not necessarily cheap) in what I buy and like to make my equipment last, this will definitely be a feature of this channel.
If you like what you see, please subscribe and click the bell icon. Also if you like the content, buy me a coffee: www.buymeacoffee.com/fiveminutevelo

How do you cut the outer cables or measure the exact length by outer cables by not cutting the inner cable at the same time?
@@MatīssPriede > Good question. I left the outer and inner cables over length with the extra length at the gear changer and brake ends. I then withdraw the inner cable enough to be able to cut the outer cable to length. I then fully installed the outer cable and pushed the inner cable through. I did leave the outer cables two to 3 cm over length so that I could push them back into the frame. The extra length allowed enough cable for the steering to turn without the cable stretching. I hope this makes sense and helps.
Considering buying this seatpost as i am a very tall man. What is the highest you can put this seatpost? 300mm with 100mm inside the frame? And how is the quality?
How to connect dji mini 2 mics to insta 360 when I try to connect 1 mic connects and other automaticlly disconnects need help
Unfortunately, you cannot connect two mics using Bluetooth. If you want to use two (2) mics, you'll have to use the dedicated receiver and then plug that into the Insta.
If I may politely disagree, IMHO I thought the audio quality improved dramatically vs the cheap legacy system
@@thecorporategypsy > thank you, that's the sort of constructive comment I was hoping to hear.
@@FiveMinuteVelo I literally received my DJI mic mini yesterday and am experimenting with how to use it. Used it on an iPhone and it is dead easy with the receiver and transmitter. The quality with Bluetooth, while better then the camera mic and with noise canceling on, will do in a pinch but using the receiver is just too quick and easy. Looking at the X4 as you have done and think using the receiver, vs Bluetooth esp for vlogging, will be the way to go but in a pinch the Bluetooth will work in adverse conditions as you have shown. Well done and thanks!
@@thecorporategypsy > thanks for the feedback and comments, useful. I still have a lot of experimenting to do. However, I have used the mic and transmitter with my DSLR and it worked great. I have tried noise cancelling in the DJI desktop app and I find it if anything too effective, it cuts out background noise that I would really like to keep as contextual audio information. The only a vlogging I will do will be on the bike and for that convenience is just as important as sound quality for me. That is why I'm so interested in the Bluetooth connection. Thanks again, happy to receive further information on your experiences.
@@FiveMinuteVelo note that I have not done anything with the 4 yet (have not bought it yet as found out I need a new HVAC system for an old house so feeling poor) so take this with a grain of salt. Using the mini (receiver and transmitter) with an iPhone was simple because once they are paired, they stay paired and the sound quality was excellent. For the X4, having the receiver mounted on the X4, might it be easy to use like on an iPhone? The question is does it stay paired when it is turned off or do you have to pair it each time (again don’t know that will be my question). Second if the receiver is mounted on the X4 will it “latch” and not fall off (you are on a bicycle and I am on a moto) AND is it water proof?
How did you get on with these?
@@GreenEverAfter > these brakes have been fantastic. They are so good. I have bought another couple of pairs that I fit on other bikes. 🍰🎂

Hi, good and informative video, thanks. I'm 6'3" and weighed 117Kg and in August started cycling. Got the bug for it and kept on going. Down now to 110Kg with exercise and some small changes to my diet. Like you I stopped the chocolate and biscuits. Bit of cake now and again but generally don't miss it. I set myself a 2Kg target and only weigh myself once a week. If I maintain the weight for 3 consecutive weeks then i consider the goal reached and drop another 2Kg. If it takes me 6 weeks or 60 I'm not too fussed as the excuse to go cycling is all I need. I'm 60 as well so I've learnt over the years to not focus on the number but just be reasonable and keep the activity going. I haven't always been this pragmatic - 117Kg can attest to that - but its the tortoise and hare; slow and gradual wins in the end. Subbed and liked and thanks again for the vid.
Thank you for the positive feedback. Also for telling your story which I enjoyed. I have not given up biscuits, just chocolate biscuits 😋. Like you, I've learnt not to completely deprive myself as it's not sustainable, although it took me a long long time to learn that 🤔. Slow and steady, trying to keep things in balance is definitely the way to go. I must admit, and I didn't mention this in the video, that a medical incident in 2018 did give me extra impetus to control my weight. Like you, for me, the weight control is more about the love of cycling than the need to be thin. Keeping me updated on your progress. Have a couple of Calorie-Free 🎂🍰- not chocolate 😋.

I did a test Today using Bluetooth only while riding Harley. I did notice that changing the db, when connected via Bluetooth doesn’t seem to change as all. I did it on 0 then -18 on the camera interface. Did not notice a difference in terms of my voice level. Then I thought I’d try noise cancelling. It completely drowned out the sound of my motorbike. I think there is some secret sauce going on the protect the Dji ecosystem. I have that strange reverb in the back ground noise also.. the vids up if you want to check it out.
Thanks for the extra info, it's great to hear other experiences. I've put your video on my watch list. Thanks again 🍰🎂.

Thanks Paul for taking the time to share your approach. Even if I were to use one, finding a full length mirror that is wide enough 😁 would be tricky. Honestly, after a year, I didn't and don't feel that not eating 🍫 is deprivation (except maybe brownies) - there are lots of other lovely 🍰🎂
The 12/12 thing resonates! This isn't for everyone but it ABSOLUTELY works for me. I do a 16/8 fast, so after my last bit of food at the end of the day, I wont eat again till 16hrs later, the next day. It helps me maintain my weight (70kgs @ 52 years old) and I eat the things i like, including sweet things! I dont diet but i do make sure i eat a balanced diet. It was a little difficult the first couple of weeks but your body adjusts and it's now quite normal for me.
It's great to know that some of the things that I do are used by others. I'm not sure I could stretch a 12-12 to a 8-16 though; it would not fit my lifestyle. Agreed that the changes need to be compatible with one's lifestyle. I think it is important (at least for me) to make the changes into habits. Thanks for taking the time to comment and sharing your experiences. 🎂🍰
I am a similar height and age, currently I am around 81kgs, I used to have a fairly active job that helped keep weight down. I was around 77kgs Since retiring although I am doing around 6000miles a year those 4kgs are bothersome. Around ten years ago I went through radiotherapy and a daily enema for 6 weeks and my weight dropped to 71kgs, but I felt terrible. Not sure about dieting in 2025. PS my wife gave me a chocolate selection box this Christmas. Here have some 🍰 non fattening.
Thanks for the non-fattening cake. Your story makes me feel overweight, but I'll resist making any rash changes. The last time I was 81kg I was a fetus 😁. I bought 2 SRAM chains off ebay. Swapped them on/off in a three month cycle along with thd genuine SRAM chain that came with my new cannondale bike. After 11 months, the ebay chain were showing 50 wear, while the original was barely worn at at all. They'd all done about the same distance - approx 1800km. And I gave them the hot wax treatment every cycle. I reckon the ebay chains must've been fakes. I'll be buying ALL future chains from bike shop. Apart from nuking the site from orbit, "it's the only way to be sure!".
@@BrianRPaterson > Thanks for taking the time to leave your story. LBS is not immune to fake chains either. I know someone that bought two chains from his LBS that turned out to be counterfeit. I think the shop was genuinely duped too and they did refund my buddy. 🍰🎂
You have a specific ebike frame for this right to get the battery into the downtube?
Yes, the bike manufacturers have to design frames to accept a down tube battery.
Great informative video! I was looking for more information about these brakes as I am looking for areas to drop weight on my bike. Your video told me everything I need to know about them and I'm now ordering a set! If you had an Ali affiliate link in your description I would have used it. I will try to make a video me installing them, but I'm pretty terrible at recording myself working on the bike 😂 I''m a fan of your content, I also love shopping in Ali, subscribed 😊
Thanks very much, I'm very glad it was useful to you. I wouldn't post affiliate links, I don't want to be beholden to anybody but my viewers. I'll keep an eye out for your own posting. 🎂🍰
Oh, and I just bought myself another set.
I've been thinking about an e bike as I'm wanting for an operation on my back and will.need something with a bit of assistance afterwards. Is the Giant you bought pedal assist or a throttle type
It's pedal assist. In general, although there are some special cases, throttle E-Bikes are not legal in the UK. Mind you that doesn't stop many people using them. Ultimately, I want an assisted bicycle, not a motorbike. Thanks for taking the time to post. 🍰🎂
Just to add, I also used an e-bike to help recovery from illness - in my case a Stroke. I now use it to control the lingering symptoms while riding. I hope it helps you as much as it helped me. Keep me updated. 🎂🍰
I just bought the DJI Mic Mini (1 transceiver only) today, connected it to my Insta 360 X3 via bluetooth and I have the exact same problems, hammering background noise and slight/moderate distortion of my voice. I think, the only solution to this issue is connecting the mic via the receiver by mounting the Rx to the Insta 360. At least, this was the thing I've read online so far. Connecting the mic via bluetooth disables the noise cancelling feature of the mic, they say. I believe that's the reason behind it. Mounting the receiver to the Insta complicates the set up, I'd like to avoid it if I can. Recording the audio in another device means more editing, I would like to avoid that as well. So, experiencing this distortion will probably convince me to buy the mic mounting brackets and plug the receiver in. 🤷♀
@@SallananKuyruk > thanks, that is very useful information. I do have the full kit with the receiver. I tried it out earlier today with my DSLR and it worked beautifully. I will do some tests with various connections and setups, but not until next year. Like you, I think, I wanted to keep the setup as simple and clean as possible. Looks like that may not be practical. Again, thanks for taking the time to comment, I, and I hope my other viewers, will find this useful. 🍰🎂

Any idea if the pistons are ceramic on these ones now?
> I do know. The Zrace calipers have aluminium alloy pistons. This may seem like a 'downgrade', but I consider the Al alloy a good choice for my riding style. I don't do heavy braking so heat transfer through the pistons is not an issue. The advantage of ceramic is the material has a lower thermal conductivity which insulates the pads from the hydraulic fluid.
I'm confused: my out of the box rotor was 160mm, and I had a FM adapter wich says "160mm". I've bought 180mm rotor and the recommended adapter from video but it is quite far from the rotor, it is for 203mm even if it says 180mm. Also I see adapters on the internet which says "140mm" but it looks exactly like my 160mm )) crazy
@@sergeykosyy4805 > thanks for reaching out, I'll do my best to help. The standard FM will do 160mm and 140mm discs. The caliper mounting plate is usually reversible to get 140/160mm discs. I believe it is possible to get flat Mount adaptors that will only do 140mm discs, these will look very similar to the 160mm version. Standard FM will not do 180mm discs. The adapter that I show has to go directly onto the fork and the caliper, you don't use the standard brake caliper adaptor as well. Also, make sure that the adapter is the correct way up and around. Finally, Peak Torque, another RUclipsr sells a different 180mm flat Mount adaptor. His is a little more elegant although a lot more expensive: peak-torque.com/products/180mm-flat-mount-adaptor-for-road-gravel-bikes I'd love to know if you solve the problem and if so, how. Feel free to clarify and ask further questions.
Connecting DJI microphones to non-DJI cameras via Bluetooth degrades the quality of the recorded audio. For full quality, you need to connect via the receiver that comes with the microphone. Have you tried connecting the microphone to the camera using the DJI receiver?
@@tatulda-z-hor > Yes, I agree, see my response to hydra3three's comment. From a pure audio perspective Bluetooth is probably not ideal. Although Bluetooth has come a long way in the last few years and many audio devices are now connected using the protocol. However, as you say, the receiver should be better. As for DJI cameras, as I understand it, and I may be wrong, they use the Bluetooth to connect their proprietary wireless protocol as used in the receiver direct to the cameras. Hence, they don't use Bluetooth for transmitting the audio. This is probably why the DJI to DJI sound quality will be better. As for my Insta360, yes, I have the choice of using the DJI receiver. There are a couple of issues with this. Firstly it complicates the setup. Secondly, and more importantly for me, see the weather in the video, connecting the DJI receiver will break the waterproofness of the X4 camera. Ultimately, life is all about compromises. I choose to get what I think is good enough audio, although I accept this won't satisfy all of my viewers (let's be fair, my viewers would have to be a bit strange to come to my channel for the audio quality!). Having said that, I will be trying the receiver plugged directly into the X4 and compare that to the Bluetooth connection. I'm happy to receive further advice. 🍰🎂
@@FiveMinuteVelo As for ease of connection and waterproofness, I would plug the receiver into my phone and record the audio into it. When editing, I would then combine it and use both the audio directly from the camera for ambient noise and the audio recorded on my phone for commentary. Is the DJI microphone actually waterproof?
@@tatulda-z-hor > if I were to record a separate audio track, I would have got the DJI mic 2 to which has internal recording. I can't say I like editing and I spend too much time on it so I don't want to have a separate audio track and additional complication of syncing them. The DJI Mic Mini is water resistant. If I want additional waterproofness I can put it inside my cycling jacket.
I'll be honest and suggest the sound isn't a hugely massive improvement. Could it be the 360 just doesn't work that great with the DJI mic?
Thanks for the feedback, I'm more than happy with honest. Now I'll be honest, I don't have the greatest narrating voice - I don't think I'm going to get any voice over jobs 😕. On the indoor test, I thought the DJI was certainly less muffled than my cheaper system. Outdoors, I didn't do a direct comparison in this video. I've just been out for a ride and I was thinking about doing a video comparison between the different mic systems and different setups and settings. When sitting in a quiet space, away from wind and background noises, the Insta360 X4 does a really good job of audio using the onboard mics. I would hope an external mic wouldn't ruin that, with one exception. That exception is that the Bluetooth connection protocol was originally not designed for audio transmission. It has been modified over the years and has improved but I'm still not convinced it will be as good as it needs to be. Hence, I probably also need to test with the Insta360 receiver plugged into the X4.
@@FiveMinuteVelo did you mention the cost of the 2 mic setups (DJI vs Cheapo Aliexpress jobbie)? This would further fuel your debate and whether the expenditure justifies the change in quality.
@@Hydra3Three> I didn't mention the difference in cost. Good point, something to talk about in a future video. But just between you and me, the AliExpress system was about 1/10 of the price of the DJI.
@@FiveMinuteVelo if that's the case, i didn't hear a 9/10s improvement in sound quality! Not sure if that's how to do the maths but it i think you know what i mean! Of course, this is all IMO.
@Hydra3Three > I know what you mean, I was thinking 'is the investment worth it' myself? Well, I suppose it's water under the bridge now. I should say, it's not all about audio quality, there are other benefits including ease of use and (in particular) the time that the battery lasts for. Having a single system that I can use across all of my devices is useful. Finally, in terms of audio quality, I have yet to test out the noise reduction. So that should be interesting.
Good content but I have to disagree with the noise. The x20 is definitely louder than the x35+ and x30. It might be lighter and it comes with some nice features but we haven’t sold some e-bikes cause of the noise.
Thankyou for your input. You are not the only person to tell me the X20 is much noisier than the X35+ system. I can only go by my test experience and I did not notice any significant difference in the noise level. The noise may be bike dependent as it is possible that the sound could resonate in certain frames or others 'damp' it out. Another explanation could be my ageing hearing, my high pitch sound sensitivity is not what it was. However, I have to stick with my own experience, but accept that many other people may not be wrong! 🎂🍰
I have these on my bike, and the 4 piston ones fitted to the front of a tandem. I am not sure about putting one on the rear of the tandem the bleeding is a bit of a pain.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I haven't tried the four piston version, but I've heard good things. I think you're right about the bleeding of the system. The bleed port is not very convenient. I do have a special adaptor to screws in the port which does make bleeding the brakes easier. I have developed the technique now, so I find it not too much of a problem. 🎂🍰
I was fortunate to purchase one on a cycle to work scheme which saved c 1/3. I recently spent a day touring Arran & it performed great, it also works well as a commuting bike. But my gosh it is heavy & my bike lock is too big to fit to the frame. Happy with purchase but maybe a Vado SL would have been a better choice.
@@barnster5844 > thanks very much for the feedback. I did try out an SL before going with the full fat version. For what I wanted, the battery in the SL is too small; from my test I estimated that I would struggle to get 50 Mi out of the battery. Also, I found that the motor didn't have enough poke for what I wanted, which is touring. Ultimately, I decided to get more than one e-bike so I was happy to compromise and the weight and the ungainliness (if that's a proper word). 🍰🎂
hello would you mind sharing what filament and print settings (extrusion width/height) you used for this print? I'm considering doing something similar (also simpler) with converting tcr custom spacers to normal spacers so i can put any stem i want. I'm slightly concerned about the flex characteristics and rigidity of the end product.
@@trends-friend > okay, I'll do my best because I didn't make notes about the settings so I'll be going from memory. Each of the spaces was in two halves rear and front. For each of these halves I used a different material. For the rear spacer I used PETG+ because he's less prone to environmental degradation than The standard PLA. For the front half I used TPU because it's flexible. I was happy to use 3D printed parts for a couple of reasons. First of all, the Cross-Sectional area could be quite large, much larger than traditional round spaces and therefore the stressing of them would be low. Secondly, the spacers are under compression and the 3D printed materials are much better under compression, no chance of interlayer delamination. Now, as for the print settings, this is where things get a bit more hazy. For the rear parts of the spacers the perimeter (I think) was about 2mm thick and the top and bottom of the prints about 1 mm thick. I used a 30% hexagonal infill. The front parts of the spacers, printed in TPU, were solid. For the initial trial prints I used The fast print settings which gave thick layers (0.4mm?). For the final prints, I used finer settings. As far as temperatures were concerned, I used guidance that came with the print media. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I have used flts for nearly 60years, everyone giving out trying to get me using the new ones, still i wll keep me flats. Get well some pal.
A good video. I will be interested to hear about any pedals you use in the future. Keep up the good work. 🍰 🥞🍪. I will also donate so you can have a real cake.
@@hilaryford8547 > thanks for taking the time to comment and for the 🍰. Maybe I'll post a picture of the cake, or perhaps I'll put the 💰 towards better audio equipment. Again thanks.
good ole campa flat pedals . way less CO2. way more fun. one pair for a lifetime. ❤
I can't argue against that. I remember 30+ years ago having a lovely pair of campagnolo pedals. I wish I had them now. 🧁🍰
I'll be on a Giant Explore with a 625WH battery. Wondering if I'll have enough juice to come back up.
There are a lot of factors that influence range, these include: The total weight of the bike and rider... Speed that you travel up the climb. The length and steepness of the climb. How much effort, you as the rider put in?. To some extent temperature and other climatic conditions Size of your ebike battery. In this earlier video I made: ruclips.net/video/4cNLBN5QN2M/видео.htmlsi=3FiAQ4VXkLGlwxAY I used about 160Wh of my battery to raise me up about 400m. Sa Colobra is about 800m vertical ascent. Hence if you have more than 400Wh you should easily have enough juice, even if you and your bike are heavy. There is a charger at the bottom of the descent, but to be warned, it can take a long time (many hours) to charge the battery. 🍰🧁
@@FiveMinuteVelo I'm fairly light...110 lbs. But the bike is a bruiser...maybe 50 pounds. As to climb speed, with an average 7% grade over 6 miles, it'll be slow! With the help of the motor in eco mode I imagine 6-7mph.
@@illtakemanhattan > I would estimate that if you have at least half the battery when starting out from the bottom you will be fine. You should nope though, if you're going to ride from the top of the climb (Coll dels Reis) back to almost anywhere, there are a number of other uphill sections (despite it being overall downhill).
@@FiveMinuteVelo yup....we'll surely need some juice to get back to Port d'Alcudia
@@illtakemanhattan > yes, there's quite a lot of climbing between the top and the start of descent to Polenca.
terrible audio
Thank you very much for your feedback. I appreciate both positive and less positive comments. I realise my audio is not the best, this is partly I hope, because I don't record in controlled environments, my recording is in the real world. If you could be more specific (hum, crackle, background noise... @ time) about the lack of audio quality, that would help me improve it. I have made efforts to improve the audio quality more recently, but I still think I have a way to go. For this reason I'm considering getting a set of DJI wireless mics. I am using the funds from the buymeacoffee to fund the new mikes, but I have a few donations to go. Again, thank you for taking the time to comment. I hope you found the content useful ? 🧁🍰
@@FiveMinuteVelo while out on the bike it's fine when you're "twirling" the caliper in your hand it sounds like you're mumbling.
@@Daplinksta > Thanks, Ill take a look at that. It could be I'm using a different camera system, in the case of the twirling its an Olympus DSLR (mirrorless) which does not have a very good amplifier. I may have overdone the noise suppression to get rid of the hiss. Thanks.
I’ve got the SRAM bb Gotta remove clean degrease and apply new grease … my bottom bracket and crank stem had rust from riding in the rain /wet conditions. All good now same for all bikes … put in the maintenance.
Unfortunately, I don't know about SRAM, most BB these days are 'sealed' for life and maintaining them basically means replacing them. The one shown is a Shimano plastic (not so) fantastic item. Shimano refused a warrantee claim on the grounds it is a consumable item, but the UK distributor and bike seller (J E James who were great) agreed to replace it (for free) any way. I have been using the ZTTO BB shown in this video which I have found reliable and long lasting. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I'll have to look in to SRAM BB's as I do like things that are maintainable. 🧁🍰
i patch with rubber cement and butyl patches and they last, never had such patches last and only using to get home.
@@voidonscreen9017 > thanks for sharing this information. I have never been able to get ordinary rubber solution glue to stick to tpu tubes, not even close. However, I do know there are glues out there that will allegedly work with both butyl and TPU. Let me know what glue (type and all brand) you are using. The patch failure I show in the video is not the only one that I have experienced.
@ I use a generic rubber solution that came with patches, unbranded basically. My method is the same as with butyl. Sand, degrease, apply a layer larger than patch, wait to dry and apply the patch and compress it with something flat for 10 minutes. Guess I got lucky that solution sticks to tpu because I see why it wouldn't.
Beautiful scenery

I co, jesteś zadowolony z tych zacisków po takim czasie? Warto kupić?

😋😋
Did you clean the tube with the alcohol wipes? I understand the tube has to be totally clean to make them stick.
Yes I did, I followed the instructions to the letter, using the wipes that were supplied with the patches. I've also tried lightly sanding the area to be patched, that did not help either.
Given the problems you have encountered with this second hand e bike, is it really worth the time and effort? 🍰 🍪🍪🎂
The second hand bike has certainly not been plain sailing (or rather cycling) However, give that the price was about a third to a quarter of a new bike. That's the substantial saving. Also, I actually like tinkering and solving problems so for me it's a challenge I relish. However, I can understand that a new bike would be preferable for many. Thank you for taking the time to comment for the delicious cakes.

Yum, yum, yum and yum. You will make me fat.
I remember seeing an old bike with two top tubes in Turkey (made by Hisan, a Turkish brand) and there are many in India too, from local brands. I think it's to add rigidity, as the steel they use for their tubes is probably not very good, or it's because of the length of the wheelbase or the general geometry.
Yes, double top tubes are nothing new. Pashley used to make bikes like that; I think the ones in developing countries are copies of those. That was a good choice because those bikes are often used to cart very heavy loads including half a dozen children on the cross bars. 😮 🍰🧁
@@FiveMinuteVelo Indeed, many cycle rickshaws have double top tubes.
Great stuff thanks for sharing

@@jaymontie > if comfort is ones priority then the Brooks is much better. If lightweight is ones priority then no. ,🧁🍰
If it snaps in the first 100miles you have the answer..
My last counterfeit chain must have lasted a good 300miles before it broke 😢. Perhaps I should have paid a bit less 😅.
Guess the key is what you paid!! I've been caught out with a Shimano chain which looked great and cost a few quid cheaper than buying via a bike shop. Lasted about 150miles before it was ready for the bin.
£17.99, which is about the going price for a standard 'black' chain. Buying from an LBS is no guarantee. I know someone who bought a couple of chains from an LBS and they turned out to be counterfeit. He did get his money back though, which is not something you can say of many cheap sellers. I don't think the shop was trying to pull a fast one, they were genuinely duped too.
Blimey.... Then you have to buy one and cross your fingers😅
@@Hydra3Three > if you buy a ceep chain, yes. The idea of the video is to raise awareness so people can be a bit more canny about their purchases. If one is aware of the issues and shops smart, one can minimise the risk of getting counterfeit chains. If one buys from a good seller one can get a refund should the product be of substandard quality. 🧁🍰
Orange Seal instead of Stan’s will vastly improve your experience. Use proper techniques when taping up your rims…aka choose a tape that is 5mm wider than the internal width of your rim, double wrap it with very high tension and let the tape run up the sides. Run a tire lever over the tape at the edge of the rim to ensure proper adhesion/sealing. Heat up an awl or screwdriver to poke a hole in the tape at the valve. Use only tubeless valves with conical bungs.
Thanks for the advice. I started using Continental sealant, which did not work. I was recommended Stans Race which was the best thing since sliced bread (apparently), as you can see from the video that was crap. Your advice about taping is sound and I had tried all that using three different types of rim tape, I'm sure that was not the source of my problems. I've now given up on the tubeless experiment and now use TPU tubes. Tubeless, for me, was just far too much faff and the tubeless failures I have seen (mine and other riders) has reinforced my decision. I may try again with larger volume, lower pressure tyres. 🍰🧁
