I really like that bike, like you I am in my 60s and suffer from AF, I think this was caused by cycling to hard, and carring too much weight in my 50s. I still enjoy riding but for me it has changed. I now take it easy and try not to go anywhere near my max HR. My Orbea Gain has been great for this, I can still go out with my son and all, but if I could afford it I would get that machine, the Niner. A great post as always from you. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Tony, Sorry to hear about your health issues and the cycling restrictions they impose. They seem to be similar to mine, although my main issue was a stroke. Do you carry beta blockers with you in case of AF? The bike is super powerful, which makes it heavy and very ponderous when not using the motor. Not like my Gain at all which feels quite nimble when the power is off. If you're interested in that particular bike, I believe Merlin cycles are currently selling them for £3,000. Again, thanks for the feedback, it's great to hear from other riders.
Hi Terry, I was proscribed beta blockers statines and blood thiners. I am hoping to come off beta blockers and statines soon. It would be nice to have the extra power the 85nm provide, but on second thoughts I think I agree with you the Gain is light and easy to pedal with the motor off altoghter, and above 25kph. And please keep up the posts, you are very talented your posts are always interesting and entertaining.
@@tonystone3397Hi Tony, I take All three of those types of medication too. However, instead of a beta blocker I take a ACE inhibitor, Ramapril. ACE inhibitors don't limit your maximum heart rate in the same way that beta blockers do. As for the anticoagulant, I'm on edoxaban which is supposed to help with AF as well. You might want to ask your GP about these drugs? Finally, thank you for your kind words, it's feedback like that that makes making the videos worthwhile.
