I find that the little things are what make great games.
You can expect to find in-depth video essays, reviews, previews, rankings, and much more on some of your favorite games, or even titles you may have never heard of. I like to dissect these games to discover what truly makes them special. I especially love Nintendo and Indie Games (Nindie Games) and enjoy playing Metroidvania's, Action-Platformers, and Action-Adventures. However, you can expect to find a little bit of everything here.

Ultros Review - A Beautifully Colored Metroidvania with a Surprise "Loop"
If you take one glance at Ultros you might be drawn in to the aesthetic such as myself. The story is set on the Sarcophagus, where you seemingly crash your ship and have to unravel the story around you, while gardening the land and fighting monsters simultaneously. Although this is a Metroidvania, there is a surprise “Loop” system. But to better see if this could be a game for you, tune in to My Thoughts.

Mario Wonder has now been out for a few months at this point so the hype behind it has finally dwindled. Leading up to its release, there was a lot of talk that Wonder would be the next Super Mario World. Mario World is considered by many to be the best game of the franchise, but does Wonder do enough to pass Mario World as the best 2D Mario game? 00:00 - Intro 1:19 - Super Mario Wonder 5:53 - ...
Faeland Review (Early Access) - A Beautiful Metroidvania with Zelda-Like Dungeons
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.7 месяцев назад
Faeland is a wonderfully animated Metroidvania with RPG elements, however, it seems to take a lot of inspiration from the classic Zelda games by implementing dungeons, and a more narrative focuses story. The story is set 1000 years after humanities creators (The Fae) wage a civil war wiping their race out. The protagonist’s (Sam) house is raided by ogres and sets you on the game’s journey to fi...

Kingdom Shell Review - A Wonderfully Crafted World

Project Blue Review (Nintendo Switch) - A Challenging but Fair Retro Platformer
Просмотров 5429 месяцев назад
Project Blue is a surprisingly fair experience for a game built for the NES. There’s plenty of challenging platforming and optional paths to choose from as you make your way to defeating the leaders of Omni Corp who partook in the experimentation on the protagonist, Blue. Best Contra game since Super C! Great game!
Game is clunky and frustrating but I keep playing it
@@nullf6950 that’s a good way to summarize it
I adore this game. I just wish there was more than 4 worlds. Granted they're really big worlds. I just can't help but wanting more. I've plugged 12 hours into it and I still haven't beaten the final world, but that's also cause I lowkey suck at it lol
@@abrasivesoup it’s not an easy game by any means!
@NindieGames Anxiety tower is an absolute bitch. And some of the void screws require the most precise timing it's insane.
There is one extremely irritating bug. You can't pick up a ring called Korkut's Ring. If you do, the game freezes and you must restart it. After that all the progress is lost. The ring would give you a faster refilling rage bar by the way. Great game anyway. But the bugs are annoying.
There is a weird solution. You can start moving, if you open the inventory. The information window will be still frozen to the screen blocking the view, but you can move. If you die in this state, the game will load you back to the spawning point with the ring in your possession. It is not nice, but it does the trick, this way you can have the ring.
@@szabolcskunkli8782 interesting. I never had that problem or maybe I didn’t pick up the ring if it was optional. Truly would have been a fantastic game if it wasn’t for some of the bugs. The soundtrack and environments are great
I feel the music of Dread is underrated, its far from the best ost but its more atmospheric vibe and the lack of fimiliarity with upbeat chill music (except the remix songs, wish those werent there) it adds to the idea of Dread in the game for me
The mechanics of dying/waking up is really cool, but the art style is absolutely blasphemous. Just completely denies the iconic art of Winsor McCay, which is already sorely underappreciated and forgotten, in favor of this modernized, cutesy, twee, art school crap. Literally the main, enduring aspect of Little Nemo is the Winsor McCay aesthetic, but yet for a few years now we've seen nothing but these bizarre re-imaginings through comic books, movie and now a game that captures only the most basic plot point and has the gull to still call it 'Little Nemo'. You wouldn't see this level of vandalism with Walt Disney, Charles Schulz creations or any number of other artists. So why is it okay with Winsor McCay? He created this amazing stuff, predating Disney by several years. He was an animator and a showman, and he's almost NEVER recognised in the modern world for his talents. This game could have introduced new audiences to that. Little Nemo is Winsor McCay's surreal world, not this watered down hipster coloring book art. You want to put that in an original creation, go for it, but why with this? This was a golden opportunity to make his bizarrely unique world come to life in a really neat interactive way, and we get this toddler game.
2:12 3D World*
Try HUNTDOWN, one of the best games I have ever played with a 16-bit graphical style. It's amazing, trust me.
Just put it on my wishlist and subscribed after watching your take on this gem.
Awesome game. Went totally under the radar unlike similiar but worse games like Völgarr - The Viking.
If you liked this you should play Odallus, it’s a lot more polished than this one but similar. I’m quite surprised that the comments show that people either loved it, or absolutely hated it
I think it's a matter of personal history. If you grew up playing games in the 80s you really just don't care if a game has minor hiccups. In contrast younger gamers render a game unplayable if the fps drop below 60.
@@FalkFlak That makes a lot of sense. I grew up in the 64/gamecube era so minor things like that never bothered me either, especially if the game has other solid qualities
neat review
Metroid Dread is a Metroidvania game. Super Metroid is a Metroid game.
I'm thinking about getting the Doinksoft triple pack to try this one out
This game SUCKS! Glitchy, clunky controls and often unresponsive which makes the platforming an absolute joke! Keep dying in a difficult spot, next thing you know you're out of money! Fuck this game it's horrible
Remarkable channel, I've noticed quite a few videos with my game interest. Bravo!
Much appreciated! I’ve been on a hiatus as of recently but am planning to drop some more videos soon.
Super Mario World of course. In fact Mario world is the best game in all of existence. Nothing comes close
Dick eating
and now it’s on switch!!!
wack
Game is preatty much unplayable!!! AVOID!!!
I saw this game at a pitch meeting called " OTK PIXEL PITCH EP1 [VOD+CHAT] " I had to come and check it out, the developer talks about the game and there are some really insightful information about it.
I just missed the non dying achivement for the platinum 🙏
Think Wonder is better than world but worse than mario 3. Yes i think mario 3 is better than world and wonder. 1. Mario 3 2.Wonder 3. World I do see myself going through world from time to time but wonder captures my attention more.
Solid list! I’m due for a replay of 3, I just remember those last two worlds giving me a lot of trouble
These games are so high that i could change them any moment . I love world interconnected world and ton of secret exits but i love wonders creativity in the wonder effects and power ups. Mario 3 is great and has my favorite power ups being the hammer suit and tanooki suit. Its so hard to pick one between these 3. Heres my overall list 2D games only 1. Mario 3 2.Wonder 3. World 4.super mario land 2 5. New ds 6. New wii 7. Mario bros 1 8. New u 9. New super mario bros 2 If i include the newer mods by newer team surely you have heard of these mods then here is where i would put them. Newer ds would be at 4 and Newer wii at 5
Both Indie games and AAA games are valid
For me Super Mario Land 2 6 Golden Coins is the best 2D Mario game, due to having more bosses & coins actually having value. The level designs are all unique with you exploring the level & discovering secrets along the way.
Rastan is a sega mastersystem game this really does look like a sequel to it Rastan however is mad hard and very stiff controls
I was like take my money now! We need more games like this one!
Release date: November 12
It will rival Mario and Luigi brother ship
@@2_many_alts Antonblast is gonna be way better. I’ve played the demo and I’m already having a BLAST.
@@FB64_Fakebeta did you just say Anton is gonna be better than Mario and Luigi.
@@2_many_alts kinda. It’s more fun, that’s for sure.
Is the full game done in confused by all these parts on steam....
The full game is not done. Only the first two chapters are playable, with the third one coming out in around a week I believe
@@NindieGames oh so no point in buying this yet since it's not fully complete?
@@peterc504 I wouldn’t necessarily say no point because you will still have access to the full game as it’s being released. You just won’t be able to play the game in full up front unfortunately

GTA V Themes : ☠
It is difficult at first but gets easier, fund game but I still don’t know why you can’t use his shield 🛡️
It’s all about balance
I just bought the collectors edition for this on Amazon France 😁👍
"they do test your ability at the game" shows the one boss that doesnt test your ability at all
fun fact: you can literally edit its save file to your liking. example. damage
I feel that the only Prime game that doesn’t do this well is Prime 3: Corruption, Echoes is also super interconnected and isolationist. As for the remaster, I think it’s nearly perfect with my only gripe being the capped fire rate for Power beam and the forced double/triple shots for Wave and Power.
The Divine Beasts were better and under appreciated.
I still prefer the TOTK dungeons, however, I’ve grown to appreciate the mechanics of the divine beasts more with time
reminds me of rygar, ghouls and ghosts, and symphony of the night
As I’ve gotten more experience with reviews since this video, this game definitely had some minor bugs which are probably fixed by now. That being said, it was still great with its platforming, enemy design, and especially music. A game similar to it is called Odallus and that one is also a lot of fun
I honestly love both and felt wonder was the first time i truly enjoyed a core mario platformer since world wkth the amount of passion, creativity and originality that the nsmb games simply lacked. But there is just something so flawless about the platforming and difficulty progression about world that to this day now game has come close to rivalling. In my opinion world is probably the most timeless game ever and while i believe no game is truly perfect, world to this day is the closest a game has ever come. That said, wonder is still an absolute must buy for fans of world. Truly a gem of a game in its own way.
Completely agree, both are great games! As you said though, the difficulty progression in World is pretty much flawless, which to me, is very important for platformers
I'm not joking when I say this was my favorite game of at least the last 5 years.
A real review. Thank you.
Appreciate it!
Look Amazing, it's on sale now.
This and Psedoregalia deserve a sequel!
Which one do I prefer? This question could not be easier to answer: Of course the traditional ones. I hate almost everything about Botw, from the non-existing dungeons over the artstyle to the fact, that it is an open world game. I in general hate the trend, that every fucking game needs to be open world. The linear way of progression in the traditional Zeldas feels way more rewarding than getting all items in the first hour. In my opinion Totk is a bit less bad than Botw, but not nearly as good as the traditional Zeldas. In some aspects, e. g. the story, Totk is even worse than Botw.
The art style looks basically just like Hollow Knight, except with colour. I hated Hollow Knight, so I'll probably hate this too.
I found this game quite confusing. I spent 75% of it not knowing who I was or what I was doing. I thought I missed important dialogue somewhere. It's a miracle I figured out the plants mechanic 😂
This is gorgeous! AAA would never make something this pretty.
how long was your playthrough and did you try to 100%?
I have almost 7 hours logged but honestly feel like I played more than that. I'm not a completionist at all, so no, I did not try to get 100%. If you're a completionist then you will definitely have a lot more playtime than I did.
The only metroidvania I've ever 100%'d, without using a guide, was Metroid Dread. That game is just built for that kind of completionism. The secrets can be difficult to work out how to get, but there's never anything hidden completely in such a way that you have to either have lottery-winning levels of luck to stumble upon it, or use a guide. Like, the original Legend of Zelda was complete bullshit that nobody in history has ever managed to find every secret of without using a guide. You have to bomb and set fire to literally every square inch of the game and you have to spend hundreds of hours farming for bombs to do so. No human in the history of that game has ever been able to 100% it without a guide. But Metroid Dread was the opposite. It didn't just hand you the secrets, you still had to earn them, but it was actually designed in a fair way. Better than any other metroidvania I've ever played. It's the only metroidvania that is the equal of Super Metroid, those 2 stand at the top and everything else is below them. But yeah I don't know what to think about this new game, Ultros. I wanna get it, because it looks gorgeous. But from what I've heard, it's way more like the first Legend of Zelda game than it is like Metroid Dread. And the original Legend of Zelda is the quintessential example of bad game design, that every subsequent Zelda game learned from and didn't repeat the same mistakes. So I'd have to put hundreds of hours into Ultros I expect, if I wanted to get anywhere in it. And I've already got too many games to play right now that I need to dedicate time to, like Tekken 8, so I can't add another. So it'll stay on my wishlist for now, and I'll see what the general consensus is from the entire gaming community, a few months from now. It's not the first metroidvania in the last few years that seems really inspired by Hollow Knight. Some of them are terrible, some are great. I hope this is the latter. I just really loathe having to use a guide to just play a game. No game should require a guide, they should be intuitive enough for people to work out everything naturally.
I had to double check who made the game because it looks so much like dead cells. That's not at all a critique because I love that game. I love the art style of that game. I'm really excited to get more into this one.
The word "critique" doesn't mean "criticism". It's not that at all. A "critique" is simply an analysis or review of something, and it can be positive OR negative. Just because it shares some of the letters with the word "criticism", doesn't mean that it is a synonym of that word. They mean completely different things. Comparing the graphics to Dead Cells _IS_ a critique, but not a criticism, because those are two different things.
Thanks for the review! Made some good and interesting points. It is a pretty looking game!
Much Appreciated!
