Wild camping, hiking and bike touring videos of places I’ve visited in Ireland - from mountains, islands, coastal and inland trails. The majority of my trips are done alone which make them very personal in the time I’m spending with myself.
They might inspire you to visit places you haven’t seen before or re-visit a place you once visited. Solo trips like these have become a valuable part of my life and maybe one of these videos might inspire you to do the same if you feel any inner yearning to do so.
I’m pretty new to wild camping and hiking - but in a few short years I’ve learned the basics of navigation and invested in gear that makes it more enjoyable and comfortable for me. The freedom and pleasure that comes from spending time with myself in nature will hopefully be evident to you in some small way from watching these videos.
I hope you enjoy the content and thanks for watching!

A strenuous yet rewarding hike & camp - Glencorbet Horseshoe, Twelve Bens Connemara
This is a strenuous walk but so rewarding when you have the weather like I did to take in the views. I’d imagine most walkers would complete this as a day hike but a high camp was certainly attractive given the conditions. The small lakes at Benbrack and An Lochán on the Benbaun descent provided me with enough water for the duration of the hike and camp. The visibility was spectacular throughout and it definitely paid to wait until good conditions allowed me to see where I was going and that I could show the place off. The traditional Glencorbet Horseshoe route excludes the ascent of small Benbaun and Mucanacht - but sure why not!

Highs & Lows while Brompton Touring the Ring of Kerry - 185km (3 nights camping)
Просмотров 8 тыс.5 месяцев назад
Having never seen the entire Ring of Kerry before, I took the opportunity to cycle a loop of the Iveragh peninsula on my Brompton. Altogether on this trip, I cycled about 185/190km and camped for 3 nights along the way. This is a wonderful loop which brings you through a number of small yet busy towns and includes coastal views with some mountain passes thrown in for luck. This is a popular rou...

Some of the places explored included: Poll na bPéist (Wormhole), Dún Dúchathair (Black Fort), Na Poill Séideáin (Blowholes/Puffing Holes) & Tigh...

An overnight trip with the Brompton to explore the Sheep's Head Peninsula in West Cork. I started this cycle at Gerahies and cycled to the lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula on the first day (24km with steep hills and passing through Ahakista & Kilcrohane). On the second day I went back in the direction of Ahakista and finished at Durras (27km and a lot easier than the first day). Even whil...

Phenomenal footage, great to see you back. Last summer was a washout but I did manage to visit both Inishbiggle Island and Inishlacken Island. Greetings from a hot and sunny Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. I couldn't resist that. It's back to the wind and rain in Galway on Friday. lol
Thanks very much Damian! Your island visits sound great (even your Caribbean islands!!) - what a time of year to be experiencing that. You will be arriving home to a storm on Friday...a grounded weekend yet again! Anyway - enjoy the last of your trip and thanks very much for watching this one 🙂
Awesome, right in my back garden...
Thank you Tom - you have a fine back garden 😉 Lucky you!!
Hi Miriam, told all about radiotherapy and then told surgery. Now meet surgeon and this will happen now.
The very best of luck with your treatment journey Alan! I hope you travel lightly through it all 😉
@MiriamKennedy thanks Miriam, 😊
What is your new tent, please?
Sorry I'm not sure what you are asking me, is it that you want to know the name of the tent in this video? If that is what you mean - its called the Durston X-Mid 1.
Yes, thanks very much👍
You’re very welcome!!
Amazing route and spectacular scenery view in Dún na nGall. I have never been there but I hope to go in future👍👍👏👏👏
Wonderful mountains and another great part of the country to explore! You’d love it I’m sure - getting such nice weather might be difficult though 🤭
@MiriamKennedy yes😅😅
Do you have Instagram?
Hi there - I don't use Instagram...another rabbit hole I could get lost in!
True🙏
I hope you are well, Happy New Year. We look forward to new videos.🙂
Thank you! Wishing you a wonderful 2025 also 🤗 All is good here thanks - I seem to be taking a break from the videoing for now. Not sure when I’ll be back at it but it could happen any time!! I’ve been getting out and about which is the important thing 😉
I have been 3 months every summer from 2000 to 2004, it is the most beautiful place in the world❤
Awww - you must have some wonderful memories from your time there Jofre! I agree, its a very special place! ❤️
Yes. I was doing a photographic project, following the footsteps of Tim Robinson in his two volumes book " Stones of Aran". He met me twice in the Island.
@jofretorello9199 wonderful!! It sounds like you immersed yourself in the islands natural beauty…it remains a captivating place! 😉
Happy New Year to you Miriam. Hope you are well. Best Wishes.
Hi Chris! Thank you and wishing you a wonderful 2025 also 🤗 All good this side thanks - keep that Brompton safe from the ice 😎
Happy New Year Miriam, are you still on your sofa watching darts 😂 Hope you are well and busy planning adventures either on or off camera.
Hi Robin - lovely to hear from you! I've been given a reprieve from the darts for about 2 weeks after a very long year flying the flag...I loved it all!! 😊 I stupidly (possibly) came up with the idea of camping on every county's highpoint over the next year so that has kept me busy. I got the idea in October which wasn't ideal! With 32 counties we've 26 highpoints as some are shared...6 down, 20 to go! I'm capturing a few shots as I go and I might put a video together to tell the story at the end of the years challenge. We'll see! I haven't been watching RUclips in recent months as I realised that I was getting so annoyed with many people playing the game (which they are entitled to do) of dramatizing thumbnail titles etc to attract viewers. It was annoying me too much and I realised I'm better off not tuning in. It has also meant that I've missed seeing your creative outputs though....its better that way for me for now though. Maybe I'll be able to tune in again at some stage and not get so triggered by others 😵 I hope you and the family are all keeping well!!
@@MiriamKennedy I totally understand. Playing the algorithm has a very odd effect on both the creator and their creations. It gradually turns you into a one dimensional machine feeding only 1 interest set and then feeding ourselves back into the same loop for more of the same carefully filtered field of interest at the cost of the wider version of ourselves. Little room in peoples interest for darts on a hike for example. Real people are diverse. RUclips videos are targeted. The trouble is that once you know the rules of the game you can’t unsee them and you see them in everything. “Don’t buy X tent until you’ve seen this” …. I’ve turned my own algorithm on its head by turning to telling pretty random and different stories. I’m going into my past a bit more, and it’s taken a lot of time converting old VHS tapes but the end result will gain me a confused bunch of subscribers I suppose. At the end of the day I’m not here for money. I’m here to tell a story now snd then and to learn the skills to do it well. We have friends who enjoy our whole lives, subscribers who only enjoy a single chapter should not control how we live the whole or else it’s become a job. To this end I keep self terminating my algorithm but although it can feel deflating I don’t think it matters all that much. Unless I ever lose my medical this ain’t no job to me. Your plan is excellent. Love it. What a great idea and I am delighted to hear of it. I will follow along with interest whenever and however much of it may appear. Maybe you could throw darts at a map from your couch to decide which county comes next 😂 Have fun on this adventure.
Respect for not playing the game Robin and for always doing what you truly want to do!! 😎
@@MiriamKennedy standby for penguins 🐧 😁
What is your vlogging setup? Audio is so good.
Thank you! I use the DJI Action 4 - no external mic, just what's available in the camera and I use a cheap foam wind shield which possibly helps too. I use the DJI Mini 4 Pro for my drone shots. Thanks again!!
Hello Miriam🤗..Sorry, I’m a bit late. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and wish you a Happy New Year!
Hi Raimo! Wishing you a very Happy New Year too! Hope you’re enjoying some white weather where you are 😎
@MiriamKennedy There hasn’t been proper white weather here yet. At the latitude of Helsinki, snow has come and gone, now there’s 10 cm of very wet snow, and the temperature is +3°C. This evening, I’ll try to capture Helsinki’s LUX light art around the city. Maybe you’ll get a glimpse of the slush we’re trudging through.😄 I'll put that video on my channel today or tomorrow...
@@RaimoLehtinen very good Raimo! I hope it works out for you 🤞 I haven't been looking at RUclips in recent months so I haven't been following what people are up to. Just fancied a break from it 🙂
@MiriamKennedy Got it, maybe it's good to take a little break. I hope it will be good for you… take it easy. The next time you see a seagull, it will be bringing my hugs to you.🤗
Another phenomenal video, Miriam. The weather looked perfect. Loved the red hoodie you had on in the evening footage. Where did you get it?
Thank you Eoin! It was fantastic weather for sure 🤭 Couldn’t resist this trip with that weather forecasted…delighted that I did it then! It seems so rare we get days like that. That hoodie was a gift from a friend in New Zealand. It’s a brand called Macpac - I’ve another one in a blue colour too. Really lightweight and soft and perfect for the warm weather! The brand isn’t available here unfortunately but I really like their stuff 🙃
Hello ( hola ) Miriam! Beautiful ( hermoso) video. From ( desde ) Cucuta city ( Ciudad de Cúcuta ) Colombia 🇨🇴 South America ( Sur América )
Thank you Jorge! Delighted to hear you enjoyed this video all the way over in Colombia 🤗
@MiriamKennedy ok 👍 beautiful Miriam
great video Miriam have a fantastic new year.can i ask what app do you use for getting around and is there a RAB store in ireland they make great adventure cloths thanks.
Hi Anthony - thank you!! Wishing you a wonderful 2025 also. I’ve been using the Outdooractive App for a few years. I’ve just purchased a Garmin watch so I hope to start using my watch for navigation now rather than my phone on the hills…on the bike I’ll likely stick with Outdooractive on my phone for now. I buy all my Rab gear from the SportPursuit website - they have much better prices than general outdoor stores and we don’t get stung for customs charges on delivery to Ireland. It can take 2 weeks or more to get your item delivered so if you’re not in a rush, I find it the most economical way to purchase Rab gear 😉
Hello beautiful Miriam! Fantastic video. Very Happy new year 2025 for you 🎉🍾🥳 💐 From Cucuta city Colombia 🇨🇴 South America
Thank you Jorge! Wishing you the best for 2025 also…may you have many good outdoor adventures!! 😊
any more videos coming????
None planned…I’ve lost interest in watching and making videos for now. I’m still going out quite often but not posting any videos about it. I’ve taken on a challenge of camping on every county high point in Ireland over the next year. I started in mid October and I might make a video at the end of that experience to tell the story of what that was like to do (assuming I stick with it and finish it). That being said - I could feel the pull to make a video before then and if I do I’ll go for it but for now I don’t feel the pull to do it…it’s great to have the memories that I have with these videos but there was always a subtle feeling of finding it a little ‘off’ for me to post videos. I’ve never felt quite at home with it unfortunately! 🫣
Hi Miriam, it's looking like radiotherapy now, bit of a roller-coaster the last year, hoping next year brings goodness. Happy new year 🎉 ✨️ ❤
Hopefully you experience plenty of goodness whilst going through your treatment Alan 😉 Fingers crossed you’ll have plenty of nice times amongst any tough times. I’ll be thinking of you!

Hi - I currently use a DJI Action 4 and DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. When this video was recorded I was using a GoPro 8 and DJI Mini 2 drone 😉
Hello Miriam! I love you ❤ From Cucuta city Colombia 🇨🇴 South America
Hi Jorge from Dublin to Cucuta - thanks so much for your message! Have a great 2025 ❤️🤗
@MiriamKennedy Happy 2025 for you too. Amen 🙏
Hey miriam very curious wat cameras and drone you use as your footage is always outstanding?
Hi Jonny - I use a DJI Action 4 and my drone is a DJI Mini 4 Pro. I’m using that gear for the last year or so - prior to that I was using a GoPro 8 and a DJI Mini 2 drone. Bright days are best for these cameras so I’ve usually only brought cameras with me when the weather is looking good as I want to be able to show the areas off 😉 For small and lightweight cameras, they are very effective!
Merry Christmas Miriam.Hope you are still enjoying the darts.have a happy and healthy 2025
Cheers Joe! Hope you’ve had a good day so far today 🎄 My darts obsession continues - still enjoying it immensely 🤭 Wishing you well for 2025 also 🤗

I've do e errigal many times especially, but only fro the tourist route. I'm just wondering how difficult the north face of errigal is? Is there a definite route to follow?
Hi Michael - there is a definite route but you’d be wise to go with a gpx route or read up on the route so you know some of the markers to watch out for. I was carrying quite a high backpack so that made it more difficult for me to see the route ahead…the high pack was blocking my view when I’d lean back. It was great to do - thrilled that I did it. I hope you go for it!! Let me know how you get on 😉
@MiriamKennedy thanks for your reply Mirriam. I'll definitely be doing it in the new-year. I've been on Errigal dozens of times, but never from the north. Your videos are excellent, and thanks again for putting them up. Keep up the good work
