What a unique, beautiful place. In the 90's the company I worked for set up a new factory just outside Cork and I was required to spend one week in two in Ireland. My Irish colleagues entertained me in the evenings and at the weekend. I was truly staggered how beautiful southern Ireland is. Places like Kinsale are obviously well known but I was shown so many sleepy picturesque seaside villages quite close to Cork. I've always promised myself to return for a holiday. Thanks so much for sharing this lovely part of Ireland.
It certainly is a beautiful place Colin! I hope you get back to Ireland again for a visit to take it all in again. Great that your colleagues showed you around the place - I had a similar experience when I spent time in Australia over 20 years ago. A number of work colleagues gave their time to me to show off their beautiful country, such a nice thing to experience when locals can show you places that you would likely never see. Memories I'll always cherish! I was actually down in West Cork again about 2 weeks ago hiking for 3 days and I brought the drone - amazing wild landscape! Thanks for watching and your message 😎
Cheers Robin! You prompted me to watch this one again - I had never even heard of Dursey island until about a week before visiting it..loved it! The novelty of the cablecar adding to the adventure 😎 That was an accident that I was flying so close and was probably trying desperately to pull it away from the wires at the time.....me nerves!! 😅
😂 Oh poor you - the RUclips algorithm has been sending you some not so good content then!! Glad you came across my little videos now - great to hear you liked this little trip! What a place - what an adventure and it’s great to have a video to remember it with! Thanks for watching and getting in touch 🤗
Hee hee!! Such a wonderful place to visit - what a feeling to have! Thankfully the weather opened up aswell to allow some views as it was under cloud for most of my visit. Loved it 😉
Was struck with your music choice - seemed so 'playful'. yet called 'Still Dead" - funny. Loving your videos so much. Hope to get to Ireland in near future.

@@MiriamKennedy You're more than welcome. Loved the wee cable car to get across to the island as well. Great stuff - defo the type of place I'd head to as well.
Thanks Wendy! I was lucky the sun came out to play at all - I was under the cover of mist for most of the day with really limited visibility and then all of a sudden at about 6:30pm the mist blew off and the views revealed themselves. I scampered through the island like a mad woman (vague similarity) with the camera and drone trying to capture what I could in a short period of time. The same happened in the morning - all covered by mist and then it blew off to reveal some more magic for a short period before going undercover again. A great little adventure! Glad you liked it 🤗

How beautiful! Your photography and filming is outstanding. I was thinking of purchasing a drone for my travels as I love filming/video editing. I was thinking of the DJI Mini 3 Pro, and wondered what you have? Did you ever do a post about your experience with it anywhere? ❤
Hi Angie! Thanks so much 😊 I’ve the DJI Mini 2 so when I lose this one I’d like to get the Mini 3…the better features appeal! I haven’t done a video on my experience with the drone, I haven’t felt drawn to do videos on products or gear at all. I leave that to others that enjoy doing that stuff. I’ve lost 2 drones already over the last few years, still worth it though, I love what they can capture and it’s really exhilarating playing with it. I hope you go for it!! Thanks again for your message, really nice to receive 🤗
They certainly are!! This one was a real treasure - didn’t know of Dursey’s existence until a few weeks before visiting. Such a great place to visit, especially when the cloud clears and the views open up!
Beautifully put together Miriam, I most likely would have hit the cable car wires trying to get that clip lol.Was here for a wildcamp in the winter of 2019 but decided to abandon due to the storm that was hitting Ireland at the time, that tram was swinging a lot before they closed it !! Ive taken the last week off in July so hoping to follow in your footsteps to Tory or wherever the flow takes me . Lovely little compilation. ATVB Colin
Thanks very much Colin! You’re a far more skilled drone pilot (is that a thing) than me - so I don’t believe a word of it!! How that cable car is still running astounds me - it looks in bits but I never heard of any accidents so there must be a decent maintenance programme in place 🤞Enjoy your next adventure - I had last week off work so I got to Valentia (I know you mentioned it recently!) and then Dursey. Headed to the Sheeffrys then in Mayo. Only took a tiny bit of footage as I was hoping to be above the clouds in the morning and to capture that…didn’t pan out, some day I hope to witness that!!
@@MiriamKennedy it’s always good when the planets align and the Gods smile down for those special planned shots , but hey sometimes the Gods are busy 😁 Yea I’ve a couple of projects planned , but we’ll see how it goes . Thanks very much Martin! Dursey is well worth a visit - magical when under cloud cover and even more magic revealed when the mist moved on 😉 Great to have been able to make a visit - you’ll love it!
Fantastic scenes! And what an interesting way to get there! I like the idea of having an island to myself. I'm contemplating the idea of getting dropped off by boat on a remote island for a few days. Great video, greetings from Canada!
Hi! I hope those contemplations move towards some solid plans - sounds like a wonderful thing to do! I feel the same about spending time on isolated islands - there is something so special and right about it! I was sent an article this week so show that they are constructing a more modern cable car to Dursey island in the coming years, I’m glad I got to visit on the current cable car, such an adventure 🤗 I live about 4.5 hours drive from this spot and I actually never even heard of the place until about 6 weeks before I went. Shocking to realise all the places I’ve never explored or heard of within my own small country. I hope you go for your adventure. Thanks for watching this video, really nice to hear from you!

Miriam, what a fantastic trip and a cool camp spot👍👍 Beautiful shots of the island, the towering cliffs and the signal tower. Looks like a stunning place to explore. I am hoping to visit Inisturk this week on the back of your film😊
Thanks Gerry! The Signal Tower worked out well as a camp spot - my original plan was to camp at the westerly tip of the island but the fog was so dense in the afternoon that I could see very little so it seemed pointless to keep walking. There was also a strong breeze in the late afternoon and the Signal Tower offered some shelter so I decided to pitch up and imagined a quiet and peaceful evening ahead. The fog then started to lift at about 6:30 and I got a chance to capture a bit of the landscape which had been hidden from sight for the entire afternoon. I had another 3 hours or so to wander to the far end of the island which really was spectacular but unfortunately I had no battery power left to send the drone out again. I had also left my head torch back at the tent so I needed to get back to the Signal Tower before it got too dark. A lovely little adventure - I was in Valentia on the previous night but Dursey stole the show! Oh enjoy Inishturk - you’ll love it!! 😊
Thanks very much James! Glad you liked it. I just had a small window when the mist cleared to try capture some views. Wasn’t sure whether I’d have enough decent footage, delighted I could put something together to remind me of the special trip. It was a great little adventure! 😊
The only thing the island lacks is some trees, then I could imagine living there ! I thought only the northern islands were treeless, shows my knowledge ! I love islands like these and Shetland etc but I have to have trees.
Shame about the trees!! I just saw an article this week that they are upgrading the cable car and adding a visitor centre - glad I got there before it became more modernised and safe!! Such a great spot 🤗
Hi Miriam. Out of interest is there somewhere to park safely on the mainland…hoping to travel the WAW by motorcycle in August and would love to spend a night on the island.
Hi there - yes there is a car park near where you get the cable car. I left my car there overnight and there were plenty of spaces. It caters for the day trippers that visit the island, so there are definitely a good few spaces. As far as it’s safety - I suppose like anywhere it is a risk, but I wouldn’t let that put you off 😉 I believe they are currently doing works on the towers for the cable car and it’s out of action, but it’ll be back up in the coming days/weeks I believe. It’s a lovely little island to visit - I hope you get decent weather, the skies literally just opened up for me for about 90mins but I’d definitely like to go back and take it in properly. Happy planning for your trip - it sounds great!!
