Thank you for taking the time to do this movie Miriam and glad you enjoyed the hike. Donegal is a really special place and a privilege to call home. We climb the Derryveaghs regularly but your movie really highlights just how amazing they are. Thanks again.
Thanks so much Alan - how lucky you are to have Donegal as your home! I’m a few hours away in Dublin but I feel lucky too to have Donegal not too far away 😊 That’s great to hear that you felt the video showed the mountains off well - a real compliment when someone knows the area!! 😎 Thanks so much for letting me know that - I appreciate it! Now if only this rain would leave us for a few days…
Thanks Peter!! Life is littered with bog holes it seems 😂 Thanks so much for watching it - so lovely to hear from you 🤩 I hope all is well with you - we’re long due a catch up!!
Wonderful, Mirriam, up with the Gods, thanks for taking us all along with your brilliant video footage. I'm left in awe of the majestic mountains and full of admiration of you. Thank you.
Thanks so much Paul! A great place to spend these few days and having such glorious weather made it extra special! 🤗 They really are fantastic looking mountains - Muckish and Errigal were a lot of fun to take a camera out to play! 🥳 Delighted you enjoyed it!! 🤩
Brilliant as usual Miriam, even without a Brompton! Great portrayal of what looked like a fabulous walk in stunning scenery. Looking forward to the next one, especially if it has a Brompton in it ☺. All the best 👍
Thanks Rich! The Brompton crew are a tough audience 🤩 I swing between I’m never doing a video again to planning a trip with the camera 🫣 Today - I’m friends with RUclips and the camera again, a Brompton trip is being cooked 😍
Awesome video Miriam. That's a seriously tough walk, and its amazing to have the mental energy left over to make such a stunning film on the way! I was made aware of it at the Mountainviews do last night - congratulations on the video of the year award! Brilliant achievement.
Thanks very much Adrian! 😊 A lovely acknowledgment last night for sure…delighted! It certainly is a long walk but the wonderful conditions helped motivate me to keep capturing the great views along the way. It felt great to finally do the route and to capture it! 😉 Thanks so much for your lovely message, I really appreciate it. I hope you enjoyed last night too!
Great views, when I got up high couldn't phantom that I was really up here. Sinking in now alright. It was yesterday I ventured out, only thing was couldn't find a place to camp, all bog.
Bravo Miriam, you are very brave. I've climbed Errigal several times and Muckish via the miners path but never up the north route of Errigal. You've inspired me to do this next time.
Thanks very much Gary! I rewatched this video just now following your message - such fab memories and a great sense of achievement. The North Face of Errigal is fantastic - I felt outside my comfort zone at times as I couldn’t see a path when my high backpack was restricting my view to see upwards occasionally. It’s so good though and gave me lots of confidence. Cheers for your message and I hope you go for the North Face route 😊
Miriam! Wow. You managed to capture the personal and the poetic in this video. Your honesty, enthusiasm and wonder shines through, thank you for taking us with you. The land you walked is breathtaking and the film you got was phenomenal. Loved this so much
Thanks so much Alyn!! The weather was stunning and makes it so much easier with the footage as you know. Blue skies are a favourite with the GoPro!! 😂 Thanks for your lovely comment - the unfolding story was all by accident but I’m very glad you took what you did from it!! I’m missing the place already…hope you’re out enjoying the sunshine these days!
Thanks very much Sören! A really nice place to spend a few days 😊 The drone captured some lovely shots, it did a great job. Wishing you a lovely Sunday also ☀️
Watched this several times now and Oh My God! This is just superb! I loved the camera work near the tops, and the unhurried drone footage... when it looks like there's nothing below you and the land stretching way away into the distance ... it's like you're soaring!
Thanks so much Clive! Very glad you appreciated those views from high in the air - it was a pleasure to walk these mountains and see those views…the little drone really helps show the terrain off! A lovely reminder to have of my time away, thanks so much for watching it (several times!) to see it all 😊🎉
Hi! I wanted to save this for a time when I could enjoy it, today I’ll say it was worth the wait. This could be one of my favourites, absolutely stunning. I envy your ability to be able to wild camp and find such isolation, in such a beautiful location. The drone shots were spectacular and your edit was fantastic!!! Well done my friend, I loved it.
Ah thanks so much Rick 😊 I’m very glad you enjoyed it, that’s great to hear! I enjoyed the process of the entire thing…not sure where I’ll try show off next now 🤔 I know how lucky I am to camp at these fab isolated spots, especially now knowing that it’s not the same for people everywhere. Cheers for your support, always nice to think that a little piece of Ireland is being seen in Canada 🇨🇦
Wow, what a great hike, that final climb looked steep and loose, good job.The views from the tops are well worth the effort getting there.Good for the soul more than your feet ha ha,loved the video.😁💪⛰🏕
Thanks Lincon! A great little adventure - plenty of steep climbs and the last one up Errigal on its North Face had a few spots where I was outside my comfort zone for sure 🙃 Nice to hear you enjoyed it - thanks!!
This is unreal Miriam last year jus as you climbed in galway u gave me advice for them mountains as i was going the following week. Now next week im climbing errigal and this video is just the help i needed thanks again. Love your videos captures true beautiful landscapes of Ireland.
That's pretty strange isn't it Jonny! The same thing has happened to me with a particular guy who has posted a video of an area that I was planning to visit the following week - it has happened definitely twice with his videos if not three times! 🤔 Hope you have a great time on Errigal and that you get some clear views on top...such a great mountain, you'll love it (even if it's not Derryclare)!! 😊
Thanks very much Colum!! Fair play to you for watching this long video...delighted you enjoyed it! It was great to do - especially as I had been thinking about doing for a very long time 😊 Delighted I got to finish it and capture some of the fab views along the way! Thanks again 😎
Twice I've watched this and I still don't know what impresses me more - your route planning (including hitching in), the route itself or the actual filming. You totally nailed this one, from beginning to end. And great that your work colleagues facilitated in helping you take the time off to do it when the weather was more favourable. I know what you mean when you said you weren't a natural at this - my pal Annie is, she can hike for days and take anything and everything in her stride, but I'm not a distance hiker or a mountaineer, I just like being out and enjoying the moment, and it takes some effort at times. If I'm recording a trip solo, the playing with the camera part is what I love to do best. Your drone footage is the best I've seen on RUclips, not just the shots, but the way you edit it into the video, but don't let it control the video at the same time. Those aerial shots of the cross on Muckish were superb. Brilliant Miriam, and one I'll no doubt watch again. Super chuffed you got that glorious weather for your trip, and nice to see a shot of the orange trowel just hanging out in the sun on a nice piece of soft meadow like grass 😉😂 atb Donna :)
Donna you were the only person that mentioned the trowel 👏 A significant morning shot...marking the wonderful experience of a lighter load being carried up Errigal! A very happy moment 😎 Thanks so much for your lovely encouragement, you make it sound like I know what I'm doing...I'm just a chancer with the drone that gets lucky every now and again 😉 So glad I held off for the weather, it was great to take in those views along the way (and see where I was going!) I was knackered at the end of Day 2...so nice to chill out a the lake for the evening and reflect on it all and think about Day 3!! Delighted I took the time off work too - sometimes its more important to just go and this was one of those times! Everything went so smoothly too - the lift, the weather...apart from my thigh high dip into the bog, thankfully that lake was close by to get rid of some of the weight of the muck and that my boot came out of it still on my foot 🤗 I thoroughly enjoyed my adventure and I'm very glad you got to see some of the lovely mountains in this area too!! Cheers Donna 🌻
Thank you Eric! Sorry to hear Muckish was under cloud when you were visiting the area 🤦♀️ A very rare thing to have had 3 fine weather days in the area and that I was able to travel at the same time, I was very lucky! Very nice to hear from you - thanks 😎
Hi Miriam Wowsers, your video's are just getting better and better. I had just said to my wife during the week that you must have one soon, it seems ages since we saw you on an adventure, and it was worth the wait. Ironically i got a notification while in my tent up here in the wilds of Mayo! Having my own weekend of super walking and camping, and thanks to you for helping to get me into the camping part, you really are inspiring! Did that walk years ago, its a tough one but really rewarding so i can see why you had it on your wish list. Take care and we wait againfor another great adventure, thanks and be safe. ATB, George
Hi George - lucky you out in the tent! What a weekend for it 🤗 I was going to go out tomorrow night myself but I’ve now decided to give it a miss - I need a few good nights sleep to try get it together for work next week. Have a ball out there in the wilds 😎 Delighted you’re loving camping so much, it was inevitable, the wilds were going to convince you eventually!! Thanks so much for your lovely encouragement 😊 I like the long breaks in between videos and just going out doing my own thing like you are tonight - it’s very different when the camera is with me so I choose to do plenty of trips without the camera. No idea when the next one will be with the camera but it’s always lovely to hear from you if I do 😉 Thanks a million! 👍
Just back for climbing Errigal, and I watched this Amazing Video, with this Amazing Superhero, and it has made me want to follow in her foot steps. You're a legend
A bit of a random experience to have had such nice weather as you know 🙃 Great to have those kind of conditions, it really helped show the place off so well and it was fab to be able to see my route and progress throughout. Tupla carried me through!! 😊 I’ll bring some more on my next trip with the camera 🤩 Cheers Kevin!! Hope all well on the boat!
WOW! Miriam! Oh that was fantastic!! What a BEAUTIFUL film! gosh those views going on for ever and the sunrises and sunsets! those tiny paths, you in the middle of it all, everything. Wow. That incredible sunrise and the crucifix and the shining sea.... The lapping water of the lonely loughs... the old machinery abandoned up there... that old tower... Wow. Beautiful, beautiful. What fantastic camp spots. When I saw your 4.30am sunrise sequence, I grinned like mad and I wondered if that was the exact same morning I also got up at 4.30am and unzipped my tent high up on Axe Edge... But I was just tootling round easy stuff in the Peak District haha! You were doing these epic climbs! Brilliant! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and inspiring film!
Aww thank you Susanna for noticing all that you did!! I too thought the same thing when I saw your early morning tent opening sequence 😂 So nice to see those morning sights…you’ve reminded me of the scariest thing that ever happened to me on one of my trips. It was in the very early days of me heading out on these trips - it was about 4:30am and I needed to go to the loo and I got up and stuck my head out the tent door and saw a flash light shining in my direction. I got the fright of my life and thought who the hell is out here at this time. I ducked back into the tent and after about 30 seconds I plucked up the courage to look out again….it was actually the sun coming up, I’d never seen it before!!! Since that day I just love catching those sights if I can…very special! So glad I got to do this trip Susanna as I’d wanted to try do it and film it for a very long time. It was very enjoyable to plan for it and work out how I might logistically deal with the car etc and it all worked out so well…thankfully!! 😉 Thanks again for watching it and I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! 😍
@@MiriamKennedy Yeh planning for that adventure must have been a big thing, reckoning distances, and food, enough custard creams haha! And where to get water actually... And yeh how to get the car in the right place! hitching! I wondered what you were doing, writing something in big letters on a piece of paper haha! You are brave. Haha that is funny re the flash light! About sunrises, I went to see the David Hockney video installation thing at Kings Cross in London and it includes a sunrise and it was great, just like sunrises can be, when there is the glow and then just a little sliver of light and it grows, and then as the sun really gets going suddenly wham a whole lot of light floods everywhere. Your Muckish sunrise looked like that - and with the reflected light off the sea too, wow that was so beautiful, must have been amazing to witness it. I loved seeing Muckish again actually cos I saw it in the rain, when I rode across Donegal a couple of years ago. It was beautiful then too. And I loved seeing it again in your film. Anyway! Best wishes!
@@susannathornton it's rare to be able to see anything from Muckish...quite often hidden under cloud! I forgot you would have see that from your cycle through Donegal...brilliant!! 🤩
@@MiriamKennedy excellent memory Miriam! I didn't ☹️ The very annoying problem I have is that all good quality, lightweight tents are made for people of up to about 5'10" and size 8 feet! I'm over 6'2" with size 13 feet so by the time my sleeping bag is fluffed up and on my air mat I am touching each end of the tent, and the ones I narrowed it down to were a bit tight on length. I'll have to thoroughly research further into it as I want to spend decent money. Cheers and keep those quality videos coming!🙂👍
Thanks so much! Your message prompted me to watch this video again, what a trip! So glad that I got to do it 😉 Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it!
Awww thank you Olive, I loved this adventure - especially having such fab weather to accompany me! So glad it worked out as it did…😊 I’m not sure how brave I am but nothing like a desire to achieve something to spur me on to find a way!! 🫣 Thanks again!
Absolutely fantastic video thank you for sharing your beautiful hiking holiday and beautiful scenery really enjoyed it. It's a great way to spend a few days well done for completing your beautiful hike👍
Thanks very much John for watching it 😊 I thoroughly enjoyed it - I’m missing those mountains ever since (or is it the weather I’m missing!) Lovely to have a record of it to help remember the experience now 😉
@@johncarnahan4067 Hi John - I haven’t ventured into the world of Instagram…RUclips is about as much social media as I’ve opened myself to to date 😉 I don’t think I could cope with watching anything else 😳 Cheers though!!
Very well put together Miriam, well done.! Just love that area. Did the Aghla circuit 3 months ago and nearly got the head blown clean off me on the cul between Aghla Beg & Aghla Beg south. You certainly got the weather for it :-) May it continue!
Cheers Pat! So glad I didn't have the conditions you had to contend with...always nice when the forecast matches what they're saying will unfold 😊 I love those mountains too...they treated me well this week!! Thanks for your message, I appreciate it!
What an amazing experience. Wonderful insight into your expedition. I am traveling to Donegal next month as part of a family holiday and am planning a 2 day expedition of Seven Sisters but in opposite direction. Family joining me up Errigal (North face route too) and was researching and found your video. Thank you so much for sharing.
That’s great that you got to see the route in full (plus Beaghy)! The North face up Errigal is quite the thrill - there are a few sections where it’s very steep and with my high backpack it was hard for me to lean back to work out a route, loved it though but a little outside my comfort zone at times. Great that you’ll have company at the start and then off to take on the rest - you’ll love it! I hope you get great visibility to be able to see things in full but no doubt it’ll still be great without it. Have a great trip and thanks very much for your message 😊
Thanks David - a great hike for sure! Such fab mountains and varied landscape to admire, the wonderful weather was such a treat to be in too 😊 Well done on completing the route yourselves!! Lovely to hear you enjoyed the video, thanks for that 🤩
I said to joe the other day that the most fullfilling part of having a camera is the ability to relive thise favourite moments . Bravo on completing your misiion
@@MiriamKennedy when the legs stop working , the hands start writing . Most enjoyable film , thank you for putting it together and the inspiration it ignites .
😂😂😂 that must be tough for you!! A wonderful description of your sons room 🤗 Hard work at times but a comfortable pace made all the difference! Delighted I got to to it at last..
Fantastic video Miriam, I’ve visited that range quite a few times but my goodness that drone footage really makes it bit special, what a hike! Well done 👏
Thanks a million - the little drone is so powerful and great fun to play with! A very special little trip and to be able to capture the views in great weather was such a bonus. Thanks so much for watching it and your message! Fab that you’re familiar with the mountains too 😊
Thanks very much Jens! 😊 Such a great little adventure and always a relief when things work out so smoothly...I loved it!! Thanks again and I hope you're keeping well!
Oh thanks Mirela!! Great to hear from someone that knows the route 😉 I’d say January was lovely to do it too - so many fantastic sights. Hope you get a chance to do it in warmer weather too 🤞 Thanks so much!!
Brilliant! Well done! Great footage and story. Not often you get a spell of weather like that, you made the most of it. I bet the legs were sore for a day or two after.
Not often is right Colin 🤭 It was well worth hanging on the extra few days to get that opportunity! No rain for your fishing though 😎 The legs were sore having got out of the car after a few hours driving for sure! A few good nights sleep still needed to get back to normal…loved it though!! Cheers Colin 😊
Struggling to find words to describe how stunning you made this look. Climbing Muckish by the Miner's Path and Errigal from the North are by far and away the best approaches for both mountains. I can't believe you managed to get such a perfect sunset and sunrise both on Muckish, so many times I've passed it with it's semi permanent cap of cloud - perfect timing. The drone shot at 13:30 is outstanding and the ridge across the valley above the Poisoned Glen looked so inviting too 😂 You've inspired me to get this trail off my bucket list - it's been there far too long 👏👏👏
Thanks very much Niall!! My plan was to only do this route with the camera in good conditions, to really show it off I wanted some blue skies - I never imagined I’d get three days of it though!! 😂 The wonderful sunset and sunrise on top of Muckish was glorious…the climb was so enjoyable and then to get sights like those just capped off a wonderful trip 😊 Hope you get to scratch that item off your bucket list in good time 🤞 Thanks again!!
Excellent trip Miriam , impressive looking climbs and summits. The weather really dictates how good a trip can be, so it was good to see it played ball for you. Loved the drone footage of those mountains it really gives off a sense of scale. We all like a good waffle when we feel tired lol . Atb Dave ⛺️👍
Cheers Dave!! The tired waffle 😂😂 It seems bizarre to have all this nice weather - gratefully accepted though of course!! It’s a lovely spot and I’m glad I allowed myself 2 nights instead of cramming it all in on one overnight - that wouldn’t have been enjoyable!! 🫣 Hope all is well with you!!
Awww cheers!! Loved that little adventure - it went so smoothly in fairness!! A nice one to capture with the camera and to be able to remember it now into the future. Some lovely mountains and especially lovely with the gorgeous weather!! 😎
Thanks very much Joe! The aul backpack added to the challenge on the climb of the North Face of Errigal alright 🫣 Not a great thing to have on my back when I was on all fours and trying to look up to try see the route! A lovely thing to be able to do…and good to get the monkey off my back until I find the next thing to obsess about 😊 Thanks again Joe!
I just stumbled on this yesterday so behind the eight ball with a comment. Stunning video. It makes you want to get out and do it tomorrow. Brilliant filming. The choice and method of drone filming is just stunning with a brilliant eye for what works superbly. Wishing you the very best as your recovery continues. Thanks for such a wonderful film.
Thanks very much Seán! Very glad you stumbled across it, that’s a lovely compliment you made that it makes you want to get out and do it. The aul blue sky definitely helped, it was so good to do - I’d like to do some more trips like that (I forget the pain!!) 😇 Thanks for your good wishes too, I really appreciate it 😊
Wow. What a quick reply. Being from Dungloe......originally.... your film pulled at the heartstrings. I've done a lot of cycling around there but with knees now well past their 'best before' date I don't think I'd manage the hike. @@MiriamKennedy
@DeTomaso2001 awww - you can enjoy the memories and rest those knees now! You come from a lovely part of the country 😊 Watching the darts here (my new obsession) with the phone in my hand so it was easy to respond quickly!! 😉
What a lovely video! I remember in our early days Darina bringing me up Mt.Errigal. It was wet and cloudy and I insisted the whole day that this is Muckish mountain. Seeing your video makes me want to revisit with blue skies ;) Thanks Kurt
Thanks Kurt! Darina has developed quite the reputation of bringing you to fab Irish sights in terrible weather 🤭 Definitely worth a visit with some blue skies - you'll no doubt have to hang around for quite a few days/weeks to get lucky with the weather though!! Thanks for your lovely message, I hope your adventures are going well for you both!
I'll be in Ireland again, and in all fairness, I saw already a lot of places in fabulous weather😊 Our Africa tour is going well, we just finished the Rwanda video. Will cross over to Kenya in the next days. Another 7 weeks left.
Hi Miriam. That was Epic!!! from the opening drone shots to the sunrises and sunsets till the final walkout. Waiting for the perfect weather to arrive paid off big time. You told the story very well and included the tired lows that come with long days hiking in challenging conditions. Really enjoyed it. and great music to suit. Take care 👍
Thanks very much Andrew! I’m not the most patient person so I’m glad I somehow resisted any temptation when the weather was let’s face it dull 🙃 We’re having such amazing weather now - it gives such a lift!! Still catching up on the sleep now 🤩 Hope all is well with you!
Amazing video. Thanks for coming to donegal and showing it in all its glory, your a brave lady , the camera shots are fantastic. Iv just liked and subscribed ❤ must watch more of your great videos
Thanks very much Gareth - so glad you enjoyed the video 😊 It was fab to have such great weather to be able to show the mountains off! I hope you enjoy any other videos that you watch now 🤞 Thanks again!!
Well that was worth waiting almost a year for, Miriam - lovely journey across some spectacular terrain which would be a workout for anyone, just as well you'd packed those Custard Creams ! Thanks for taking us with you.
Ha! The custard creams hit the spot for sure - a firm favourite for a very long time!! 🤩 Nice to have finally completed the route…on to the next obsession now! 🤔
Fantastic hike and what amazing views Your video content is amazing also I was able to follow and enjoy a coffee with no sore calf’s or breathlessness at all !! Keep up the great content a pleasure to watch 👏👏
Great to hear you avoided those sore calves - they will get you again though, no one escapes 🤭 Thanks so much for the positive encouragement, it's really nice to read 👍
Hello Miriam, A very enjoyable video, thank you...That was some walk for sure and some challenging terrain, well done. See you next time. Take care. Paul,,
Hi Mark - thanks for that!! Prosaic mud…😂 Very glad I remembered to get the camera out to capture that experience and I was so glad my boot came out of the bog with me - I nearly wore trail runners for this trip and I’m pretty sure it would have come off me when that happened 😳 Yes it’s the X-Mid 1 - it’s performing well and it’s great to have such a quality lightweight tent in my arsenal! It looks so good too 😊
Ah thanks Peter 😊 You’re right - I was just tired and looking forward to stopping for the night!! I had originally thought of going further than Altan that night incase I’d be swarmed by midges - as I got closer I was happy to sacrifice myself to the midges rather than keep waking. Thankfully there were only a small few midges and they weren’t out when I was cooking or eating my dinner. Not bothersome at all 😊 Thanks for your lovely message!!
Wonderful Miriam, you really did have the most perfect weather so that you could enjoy that stunningly beautiful scenery, the choice of music really added to the atmosphere of the place and what a joy to have nearly all of it to yourself !
Hi Ian! Thank you 🤗 I only met one person until I came to the final summit - quite a few people were on the ridge of Errigal having climbed it from the opposite side. I always enjoy that solitude that the mountains offer 😊 The weather was incredible and it still is glorious here - so nice ☀️ Thanks again Ian!
Go away outta that!! 🤩 Nothing like a bit of blue sky to show a place off 😇 I admire your style of videos too, so original and creative!! Delighted you enjoyed it anyway!!
Oh lovely! Will look forward to watching this, this evening 😊. I love your vlogs! Inspired me to have some adventures of my own. Two summit camps so far this Spring! Which I loved , as I thought I would!! ( it's only taken about a year to pluck up the courage to go! ! 🙄😅).
Wahoooooo!! That’s brilliant Sam and great that you’ve enjoyed your camps!! I’m going to head out again now tomorrow with the tent (and without the camera)…such a gorgeous thing to be able to do!! 🤗 Delighted you went for it…we’re having beautiful weather here so it’s such a pleasure to get out with the tent!!
Great video, nice landscapes and....interesting angles..🙂 You have succeeded...once again👍 The food looks...interesting, but it was definitely good...I think😊
It was very edible, I promise 😊 Nice to have finished the route, a lovely sense of achievement afterwards!! Great to have had such nice weather for it…I hope all is well with you!!
Wow! What a wonderful once in a lifetime adventure! Glad I never had the names of those mountains come up in a spelling bee as a child. You could not have asked for a better window in the weather for this challenge. Everything was just spectacular! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks Denis!! I think most people in Ireland would struggle with most of that pronunciation and spelling 😊 Thanks so much for coming along with me - it’s always amazing for me to know that someone outside Ireland is seeing one of these videos 🤗 The weather was a joy - we’re having a really nice spell with blue skies and lots of sunshine which always seems like a rarity when we have it!! I hope all is well with you 😎
😂 filthy was right!! Thank god my leg went into the bog about 50m from that lake so at least I could clean myself quick enough!! Very glad you enjoyed it - I enjoyed making it 😊
Yes this sort of route of multiple achievable summits that you can connect is my ideal for two or three days: you get such variety of terrain, surface and vegetation it fully loads one spirtes up with richness and power. That is a just magisterial experience - congratulations. Something else. I fully enjoyed the Irish names and that really added to the grandeur for me. The naming of mountains so often an eclectic shambles of local languages, historic names, the entertaining and the inexplicable. I really struggle with the Irish, Gaelic and the like, but felt here the naming you gave was an important part of the tale. Entertainment that uplifts. JMO.
Thanks very much JMO! Ardloughnabrackbaddy is certainly a mouthful 😇 I really enjoy these kind of crossings too - it’s only my second time to do something like that but it has given me the urge to look for some more opportunities where I could try do it! Delighted you enjoyed it 😊 Thanks!!
Hi Miriam, I really enjoyed this video so thank you for taking the time to filmy and edit so well. Your videos are about the only ones on RUclips that I dont fast forward any bits as I really want to hear everything that you say and see the locations where you are filming... Thank you once again... All the very best wishes Tom
Thanks very much Tom! I know you’re familiar with the area - such great conditions to be able to take it all in! Some lovely camping spots and plenty of walking during the day to keep me entertained 😊 Very glad to hear you enjoyed it - a nice compliment!!
Seeing you hiking alone through the Derryveagh Mountains, the main mountain range in County Donegal, Ireland, makes me want to join you too! And hiking from Muckish to Errigal, camping alone in a tent for three days and two nights, and eating meals is also very cool. In particular, the view of the morning sun rising with the sunset there was very spectacular, and the drone footage was also very cool.
Hi - thank you! It was a wonderful trip, they are great mountains to hike and and camp. I was very lucky with the weather as it can often be very wet, cloudy and windy when visiting this area. I’m very glad to hear you enjoyed the video, thanks!! 😊
It's not every day you get a quote from Werner Herzog to open a youtube video! What a gorgeous adventure, you'd never get me out of those mountain lakes. I was up in Dunfanaghy last weekend, though doing nothing as adventurous as this, mostly just eating and drinking.. Great to see you out and about. Take care.
Ha!! I came across it in a book I was reading and decided to make use of it 😉 You’d love those lakes - quite a few of them along the way and I was very grateful to be able to clean myself at one of them after my bog incident!! No doubt the eating and drinking went well for you over that side of the country - it was great to get over there again! Cheers Chris and I hope all is well on your side and that the midges aren’t impacting your paddling too much 🤞
Wow great hike. Fair play for taking the extra time to film it. I live 1 hr drive from the Mournes, so spend most of my hiking time up there, but I'm looking further afield for some adventures during the summer, so will add this one to my list.
Oh great!! Well worth a visit, hard to get nice weather opportunities as you know so I hope you get some decent weather to see the views when you go for it 🤞 The mist and rain and wind are great too of course…just a bit bothersome 🤭 I’m about 1hr 45 from the Mournes - such a great place to hike and camp, love them!!
Hi Alan - thanks for that! Really nice mountains to walk in and so nice to be able to see the mountains unfolding ahead of me as I was walking towards them. Quite an experience! The weather helped so much too of course 😊
Oh my! How I admire you Miriam. My vertigo set in watching you on those narrow bits of path close to the edge😱 Beautiful scenes and you were truly blessed with great weather.
Aww thank you Yvonne!! Those ledges weren’t scary I promise - the camera made it look more scary than it was, hope the vertigo wasn’t too bad watching it 🫣 The lovely weather helped those fab scenes immensely..so glad I waited to do it with such nice weather. Thanks again Yvonne and hope you’re having a good weekend 🤞
Hi Miriam, looks like I'll be heading for a trail around laragh, trying to keep focused but a bit scared. I hoping my days scouting come back to me and I get over this fear. If I can just do it I reckon ill have a ball. Thank for the inspiring video, that really is an achievement for yourself.💖💖💖🙏🌈😍
Hi Giles! So lovely to meet the three of you too - my first conversation for a few days 😀 Very impressed that you found the video and delighted you enjoyed it! A fab few days - hope you get to run up Errigal soon and that you catch a sunrise up there soon too. Thanks very much for your message!!
A brilliant solo mission Miriam . Nothing more thrilling than knowing you have the top of a mountain to yourself . You have lit so many fires in so many hearts with this one . ❤ When i was younger i loved to study the OS maps of galway and wicklow planning missions id never do . How life changes back to being a kid again .. i find a constant fascination . The force is strong in this one .
Ah thanks for your words! So lovely to have the space to myself throughout. I came across one other woman hiking on Day 2 when I was having lunch and then met a few on the summit of Errigal at the end - even that is more than I usually come across though 😉 A lover of maps too - such a great thing to be able to understand and interpret a map - it’s opened up the country to me having that basic knowledge!! 🤗 Great that you’re playing with that kid again 😎 Cheers for watching the video and your message 🤩
Wow. Wonderful video with fantastic footage of the scenery. I admired your stamina hiking and climbing those peaks. A huge credit to you. I'd be cramping after the first😅.
Hi Colin! I took it nice and handy and that definitely helps, the cameras and batteries add to the load but worth it to have this memory! I upped my jogging in advance to try get a little fitter and no doubt that helped me too 🤗 Cheers for watching it!!
Absolutely Stunning Miriam.. brilliantly edited and just stunning shots. You look so happy and calm.. the ridge looked tough near the window rock. Brilliant Miriam. Well done. Loved it. 💪💪🙌👏👏👏🙂
Thanks Martin!! 😊 There were some tough sections on the north face of Errigal for sure, some parts required me to use both of my hands and feet and while in that position it’s very hard to look up to assess the route properly with a big backpack on your back 🫣 It worked out and I know if I was to do it again I’d feel more confident. The ridge itself on top of Errigal isn’t scary or tough, just sections of the north face climb to get the ridge are - some parts are very steep. I’d like to have got more shots at the window and other steep sections but it was too much bother to try climb back down again with my bag etc. with the steepness and scariness of it 🫣 Cheers for your message!! I loved it and I miss Donegal already 😎
I am sure the endurance something like this takes must be extreme but still more impressive is figuring out all the names 😅 In terms of videography, you always amaze me with what you can capture out of a backpack. Wonderful stuff.
Thanks Robin!! Definitely is quite exposing to pronounce names that I’ve never heard spoken before - even more than walking on exposed ledges 😂 The little GoPro and drone are wonder machines for their size in what they can capture! A lovely trip to do with the camera - nice to have the memory banked with a video and to show off the area a little. Off now to try find somewhere to walk and camp tonight - wind and rain ahoy but a night in the elements is called for 😉 Hope all is well with you!
@@MiriamKennedy yes all well, couple more videos in the can but beginning to think this time of year is just too good for editing 😊 November might be busy at this rate 😆
Yeah! No camera being brought with me - I continue to oscillate between my love and hate for capturing stuff by camera! 🫣 Just received a new titanium windbreak though for my pot this morning - about 15g (basically like a sturdy/fragile bit of tin foil to wrap around the stove and pot). I’ll see what it’s like tonight! Just fancied something a little lighter than the other one we use when I’m out with the backpack…consumerism (and finding little pleasures in life) 😊
Class video Miriam and fair play to you for hitching a lift. That is something that I wouldn't be keen on myself but it was a massive help to you. I love heading off on my own. These multi day trips you go on are brilliant and you get so lucky with the weather, it was perfect. The footage was amazing as always, love the drone shots 🍀
Thanks very much Jason! It was a trip I wanted to capture with the camera for a long time, so the time eventually arrived 🙂 Very glad I held off until there was a chance of good weather - however I never thought I'd have it so good!! Very glad the hitching worked, always a little nerve wracking but it certainly helps make a few more things possible when travelling alone. Cheers for watching it and your message!!
Cheers Colin 😄 The heat didn’t feel like too much of a problem - maybe I’ve forgotten already though!! 🤭 The drone performed a treat with the low wind and lovely skies - a pleasure to do!! Cheers for watching it 🤩
Thank you for taking the time to do this movie Miriam and glad you enjoyed the hike.
That's an Epic video, Miriam. "It's not all sunrises and sunsets." What a wonderful quote. So true. Talk soon hopefully. ❤️
Wonderful ! Very beautiful scenery and very rewarding solo endeavor. Another personal triumph!
Thvaks very much Doug! Delighted I got to do this route and take in all those views. Thanks very much for watching it!!
Finally got out in the mountains, derrybawn Co Wicklow, first time in 30 years. It was amazing. Loved it.❤❤
Wahooooooo!! A lovely spot to explore, hope you got some decent views from up there too!! 🤞
Simply stunning hike my friend, intro is beyond spectacular and so professionally executed! Bravo 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks Ervin - a very lovely hike! Very enjoyable (except for the feeling tired bits!!) 😊
Miriam!
Such an amazing place to visit and hike. So many really wonderful shots also from the Drone. Thanks a lot for the great watch.Have a happy Sunday.
A lovely reminder to have of my time away, thanks so much for watching it (several times!) to see it all 😊🎉
Really nice, thanks Miriam, stunning scenery, thoroughly enjoyed it , your videos are always a pleasure to watch 🤙💚🤙
Thanks very much David! Really nice to hear you enjoyed it, I appreciate you saying that 😊
What a lovely sunset.. absolutely stunning and breathtaking view
Thanks very much! There are indeed some lovely views throughout this range - when the weather allows 😉 Such a nice sunset and sunrise - loved them!!
Absolutely fabulous, well worth taking time off work.
Thanks very much Con! A much more productive and satisfying time to head for the hills like that 😊 Delighted I went for it!
Beautifully crafted as ever. Thanks
Thanks very much Dick, very kind of you!! 🙂
Hi Miriam Fantastic views of a very tough climb . Great challenge to have completed . Brilliant video 😊👍 . Weather worked out perfect.
Just, simply, thank you Miriam.
Thanks so much John! You’re very welcome, delighted you enjoyed it!! 😊
Tremendous. Thank you very much.
Thanks Stewart - that’s an impressive thumbnail picture you have 😊 Thanks so much for your message, I appreciate it!
Great spot ,amazing movie
During my hollidays to Falcaragh , the muckish is lost in the cloud
Bravo for your trails
Thank you Eric! Sorry to hear Muckish was under cloud when you were visiting the area 🤦♀️ A very rare thing to have had 3 fine weather days in the area and that I was able to travel at the same time, I was very lucky! Very nice to hear from you - thanks 😎
Lovely video Miriam stunning area, well done 👏👏
Thanks very much John, I appreciate it! 😊 A stunning area for sure - it was great to do, delighted I took the chance to do it!
Hi Miriam
Wowsers, your video's are just getting better and better.
Great to see you back. Wonderful film from a great athlete !
Thanks very much George!! Such a great trip to do - I miss those mountains and sunsets and sunrises!! 😊
Wow Miriam well done!! Epic adventure spectacular scenery great video thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks Pat!! Thanks so much for watching it 😎 A great adventure!!
A lovely film; so peaceful!
Thank you Derek!! 😊
Just back for climbing Errigal, and I watched this Amazing Video, with this Amazing Superhero, and it has made me want to follow in her foot steps. You're a legend
Thanks very much James Bond 🤩 I hope the views were good from up at Errigal you lucky thing, very jealous!!
Holy moly that was brilliant! With the lighting and the fab weather, it reminded me more of the south of France than Donegal. Beautifully filmed!
Its a beautiful and amazing scenery of nature thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching! It’s a beautiful mountain range to walk in - a very enjoyable trip! 😊
Amazing film! Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Hi Paul! Thanks for watching all the way over in Sweden 🤩 Hi back from Dublin 🇮🇪
Another great video Miriam, thanks very much for that 👍
Thanks very much Tony! Did you ever take the plunge and go for a lightweight tent that you were thinking about buying??
@@MiriamKennedy excellent memory Miriam!
I didn't ☹️
The very annoying problem I have is that all good quality, lightweight tents are made for people of up to about 5'10" and size 8 feet!
@@tonypaddler ahhhh you’re not the first person I’ve heard having that complaint 🤦♀️ If I ever hear of anything I’ll let you know too!
Another superb video! Thanks for sharing your adventures, Miriam.
Thanks very much Chris! It was a lovely one to do and great ti have a video as a memory record now!
Brilliant video Miriam - really enjoyed that
Thanks so much! Your message prompted me to watch this video again, what a trip! So glad that I got to do it 😉 Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it!
Amazing video and what an adventure. I am so jealous of your bravery.
Awww thank you Olive, I loved this adventure - especially having such fab weather to accompany me! So glad it worked out as it did…😊 I’m not sure how brave I am but nothing like a desire to achieve something to spur me on to find a way!! 🫣 Thanks again!
You are crushing it ! Great video Thank you
Thanks very much Seamus! Very glad you enjoyed it 😊
Absolutely fantastic video thank you for sharing your beautiful hiking holiday and beautiful scenery really enjoyed it. It's a great way to spend a few days well done for completing your beautiful hike👍
Thanks very much John for watching it 😊 I thoroughly enjoyed it - I’m missing those mountains ever since (or is it the weather I’m missing!) Lovely to have a record of it to help remember the experience now 😉
It sure is Miriam and you got fantastic weather if you are on Instagram would it be OK to follow you
@@johncarnahan4067 Hi John - I haven’t ventured into the world of Instagram…RUclips is about as much social media as I’ve opened myself to to date 😉 I don’t think I could cope with watching anything else 😳 Cheers though!!
Absolutely love Donegal! Derryveagh mountains are beautiful.
Thanks Gerry!! It’s not often we get to see them with continued sunshine like that as you know ☀️😎
What an amazing experience.
That was fab we done it a couple of weekends ago..... definitely the most challenging hike I have done but was so worth it....
Yeah it’s lovely to have a record of trips like this 😊 Imagine the days when we can’t do as we once did 🤦♀️

Great video. Looked like it was hard work hiking. Love the name "Muckish". Very descriptive. Puts me in mind of my son's bedroom! Until next time...
😂😂😂 that must be tough for you!! A wonderful description of your sons room 🤗 Hard work at times but a comfortable pace made all the difference! Delighted I got to to it at last..
Awesome beautiful
Thank you 😊
Fantastic video Miriam, I’ve visited that range quite a few times but my goodness that drone footage really makes it bit special, what a hike! Well done 👏
Thanks a million - the little drone is so powerful and great fun to play with! A very special little trip and to be able to capture the views in great weather was such a bonus. Thanks so much for watching it and your message! Fab that you’re familiar with the mountains too 😊
Stunning footage Miriam some wee hike well done all together 😊🧡 Beautiful memories you created
Thanks very much Jens! 😊 Such a great little adventure and always a relief when things work out so smoothly...I loved it!! Thanks again and I hope you're keeping well!
This is an amazing route❤ you got the day... done it in January. However, I'd love to go back in the summer.. Fair play to you for solo camping 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh thanks Mirela!! Great to hear from someone that knows the route 😉 I’d say January was lovely to do it too - so many fantastic sights. Hope you get a chance to do it in warmer weather too 🤞 Thanks so much!!
Thankyou for taking us with you.
Thanks very much for joining me!
Brilliant!
Brilliant video, appreciate the time and effort that went into it. Stunning scenery.
Awww cheers!! Loved that little adventure - it went so smoothly in fairness!! A nice one to capture with the camera and to be able to remember it now into the future. Some lovely mountains and especially lovely with the gorgeous weather!! 😎
Pure magic, Miriam! Seemed like a really challenging one! Bravo and thanks for sharing the views!

Fantastic route and video. Inspired me to get over the water. Thank you.
That’s so good to hear Alistair!! Delighted to hear that it inspired you in that way 🤗 Thanks very much!!
Fantastic hike and what amazing views
Your video content is amazing also I was able to follow and enjoy a coffee with no sore calf’s or breathlessness at all !!
Keep up the great content a pleasure to watch 👏👏
Great to hear you avoided those sore calves - they will get you again though, no one escapes 🤭 Thanks so much for the positive encouragement, it's really nice to read 👍
That was fantastic thank you for sharing.
Thanks very much Joe 🙂
Fantastic and awesome. Superb performance👍👍 🌸
Thank you very much 😊
@@MiriamKennedy 😊🌸
Hello Miriam,
A very enjoyable video, thank you...That was some walk for sure and some challenging terrain, well done. See you next time.
Take care.
Paul,,
Thanks Paul! A few hairy moments along the way but I managed to get through it well enough 😉 I hope your recovery is going well for you 🤞
Absolutely stunning. I've moved to Sligo now, so this will have to be done. Great views 👍
Practically on your doorstep now 🤗 A great route to do, you’ll love it!! Cheers for your message 😎
@@MiriamKennedy my pleasure. Keep up the good work 💪
Wonderful video. Drama and poetry and prosaic mud. Congrats on walk and video. Durston X Mid (i think) looks nice
It looks so good too 😊
Delightful video from you, as always. Thank you.
Thanks John - that’s lovely to hear!! Very nice of you to say that 😊
Lovely filming as always, thank you for taking us along.
Thanks very much Colin for joining me 😊
Mighty video again miriam your an amazing lady & you weren't moaning you were just tired keep safe & look after yourself
You're a Beast Miriam !! Loved it
😂😂 I just get some silly notions every now and again…it was fab!! Cheers for the giggle 🤭
Great achievement.well done.
Thanks a million 😊 It was great to be able to do it, I'd love to be back there now again!! Cheers for your message!
Loved it! This looks like it was shot for the National Geographic! So professional, you're putting the rest of us amateurs to shame! 😅😊
@@MiriamKennedy hope you have a great camp Miriam!! It is indeed perfect weather for a night under canvas!
Great video, nice landscapes and....interesting angles..🙂 You have succeeded...once again👍
The food looks...interesting, but it was definitely good...I think😊
I hope all is well with you 😎
Great to see you happy Miriam! Epic video and beautifully filthy shoes! Loved it!
Cheers Chris and I hope all is well on your side and that the midges aren’t impacting your paddling too much 🤞
Stunningly beautiful drone shots. Whole video was epic! Loved it!
Awww thanks!! 😊 That’s fab to hear 🤩
Wonderful video!!! It really showcases the landscape. Thank you for sharing your journey...
Hi Alan - thanks for that! Really nice mountains to walk in and so nice to be able to see the mountains unfolding ahead of me as I was walking towards them. Quite an experience! The weather helped so much too of course 😊
Oh my! How I admire you Miriam. My vertigo set in watching you on those narrow bits of path close to the edge😱
Beautiful scenes and you were truly blessed with great weather.
Hi Miriam, looks fantastic, thought of my maiden voyage this weekend but to hot for me with my fair complexion. ❤❤❤
Ah that’s a shame - hopefully you’ll get the opportunity to go for it soon enough, you’ll love it! 🤞
The best of luck with it Alan! You deserve some peace out there ⛺️
Hi Miriam, it was great to meet and chat with you on top of Errigal that day, fantastic video.
Giles.😊
Hi Giles! So lovely to meet the three of you too - my first conversation for a few days 😀 Very impressed that you found the video and delighted you enjoyed it! A fab few days - hope you get to run up Errigal soon and that you catch a sunrise up there soon too. Thanks very much for your message!!
@@MiriamKennedy if you ever decide to come up again, give me a shout 😊👍
Cheers 😊
A brilliant solo mission Miriam . Nothing more thrilling than knowing you have the top of a mountain to yourself .
You have lit so many fires in so many hearts with this one . ❤
When i was younger i loved to study the OS maps of galway and wicklow planning missions id never do .
Hello from Belfast! Thank you for the great video Miriam 😊 i have just subscribed best of luck to you on growing your channel God bless ✌
Thanks very much! Delighted you enjoyed it and thanks for subscribing 🙂
I am sure the endurance something like this takes must be extreme but still more impressive is figuring out all the names 😅
In terms of videography, you always amaze me with what you can capture out of a backpack.
Just fancied something a little lighter than the other one we use when I’m out with the backpack…consumerism (and finding little pleasures in life) 😊
@@MiriamKennedy you’re well ahead of me, we seem to struggle to keep things below three and a half tonnes 🤣
@@VISTATREKKER you have the luxury of a beast to carry it all 🤩
Class video Miriam and fair play to you for hitching a lift.
Another epic adventure, that was tortuous to watch in that heat , hopefully not too hot ion top . Drone footage always a great addition !!
Cheers Colin 😄 The heat didn’t feel like too much of a problem - maybe I’ve forgotten already though!! 🤭 The drone performed a treat with the low wind and lovely skies - a pleasure to do!! Cheers for watching it 🤩
