Own a Refractor? Why you NEED to buy a field flattener right now!
I appreciate you explaining the product, helps some simple person like me understand :P
you'll soon be an expert watching my videos :)
How could I use this camera with other brand mounts(celestron, skywatcher)? And can I use zwo eaf with this camera? Should I buy this camera as owner of C11 And EQ6 R mount?
yes it supports the same mounts as a normal ASIAIR can - yes the EAF plugs into the USB port on the camera same as if plugging into an ASIAIR
A very helpful video.
Glad it helped!
Can this unit be used on Astrophysics mounts, ie. AP1100 mount?
there's mount entries for AP mounts using GTO CP2/CP3 and CP4 mounts plus a model legacy connecting via USB to the 2600 AIR
Delphine Estates
Fantastic. Got so much out of this. Yes, more please😊
More to come!
Are you talking dslr or ccd
Well done tutorial. Thank you.
no probs - glad it helped!
Probably already said how helpful this is but worth repeating. Thanks!!
Glad to help!
Did you say, you are testing a new AM3N ??
not yet ... I am hoping :)
Thank you so much for the video. Got me up and running. I can polar align and slew to targets with ease. The only problem i am having is that i can't get it to calibrate on a star and track. If you have any insite into this, i would be much appreciative. Thank you.
hi Greg - you can reach out on the support line or DM on Facebook - setting up guiding takes alittle effort and could be a number of things going on
Ya es compatible con la Sony A6600?
not yet I think the 6600 is still a challenge
I got started in astrophotography about 6 months ago. I purchased the ASIAIR Mini a couple of weeks ago. This little device has increased my enjoyment level in this hobby 100%. The user interface is so intuitive and easy to learn. I now am spending more time imaging and less time setting up hardware and fiddling with software.
Should one leg of the tripod be pointing north before polar alignment? I'm wondering if the AM5 /ASI Air Plus assumes the legs are in a certain rotation to avoid the telescope hitting them during median flips.
Doesn't really matter - the ASIAIR needs roughly pointing at your pole and you move the AM5 body but the tripod legs are not assumed to be in any position

Is it possible to use a separate ASI Air Plus to control the imaging and/or guide camera in the 2600MC Air 'bypassing' the built in Air if you wanted to? Not sure why you would do this, but can you?
I replied via the ZWO desk but no ... only via ALPACA and ASCOM
Can I use a separate guide camera if I wanted, due to imaging circle limitations, in a similar way to the 2600mc duo, and have the 2600mc Air control the separate guide camera instead of the built-in one?
yup absolutely you can change the device in the guide cam to another camera - I've done the same
How’s there customer service? I’ve heard nightmare stories.
given the 1000's of cameras they sell each year I don't feel they are any worse than anyone else, people like to throw rocks at dealers, but astro imaging isnt easy and theres lots of moving parts which trips some up but they do listen to what customers desires for products are and try to meet as much as they can and usually at a pretty decent price - do they get it right all of the time? no - but most of the time they do pretty well I think
@@TeamAstroworkz thanks for your reply.
Will there be mono version? 🤞🤞
not sure at this point .. as I said in the video .. depends on demand I guess
Can you plug a USB thumb drive into one of the USB ports of the 2600MC Air to have it save image data on it instead of it's internal memory? (you can do this with the ASI Air Plus and mini, correct?)
yes you can
Great vidio. Would have loved it if they do it in a 2600 colour then you can still use very short narrow band filters
I dont see a mono version yet sorry
great observation/tip about accessing the eMMc memory via wifi cheers! BTW I recommend that users setup a static IP (in their router's DHCP server) for the ASIAir (and the mount - hand controller) making it automatic to connect the AIR and the mount to wifi n/w allowing both wifi mount control and access to the ASIAir directly from anywhere on your home n/w. I personally use a powerline+wifi access point (outside) to enable the AM5+ASIAir to connect to each other and to control the ASIAir from an iPad.
Great tip!
Must have it! 🤪Thanks Simon for another great review 😍
veyr welcome
Don’t understand, why they put it in the cam instead of into the AM5N….
no a lot of space in the AM series bodies thats for sure ... its not a bad idea though .. has been thought about I can tell you
So if I were to add a USB Bluetooth dongle to my ASI ASiair Plus 256G, would that now enable me to control an AM3 or AM5N via Bluetooth?
i'll have some thing to share on that later in the week so stay tuned
Well done. New setups and travelers will love this.
yup I really think so too Bob!
I would kill for a 2600 Duo that has a rotating pair of sensors. No flexure rotation! Just rotate the sensor and the Duo chip!
nice thought :)
Am3 n confirmed.
3N would be a bit of a rebuild ... theres a lot more going on than just sticking a saddle on it .. the AM5N is totally redesigned
@@TeamAstroworkz so "no" then?
@@TeamAstroworkz I think you mistakenly mentioned "AM5 and AM3N" at the very end of your video... got our hopes up!
@@larrycable984 ohh ..sorry yeah . . One can hope :)
When is the camera rotator going to be released?
being worked on .... before end of the year it will be in your hands
@@TeamAstroworkz Any ballpark idea on Rotator Cost???
not yet sorry but knowing ZWO .. competitive :)
Thanks, Simon. Have you ever used a long focal length telescope on the AM5 and the ASI Air would not poplar align? I tried to polar align while using the Sky-Watcher Skymax 127, 1500mm, and the ASI Air returned the error message that there were not enough stars available to properly polar align. I never get that error using much shorter focal lengths such as 250mm and 430mm. Next time I am going try PA and plate solve with the 250mm, then switch to the Skymax. Thanks!
you might find that the field of view is smaller than 0.3 degrees in that case it would fail ... have a look at astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/ and you can calculate the field of view for your scope and camera
@@TeamAstroworkz Thank you for the reply, Simon! Under field of view calculator in Imaging Mode, I input the scope and camera combination, selected a target and the calculator returned 0.19° x 0.14° for the field of view. So, based on what you are telling me, that is the reason for the failure. Do you see any flaws in my plan to PA with a smaller scope and camera (such as my guide scope/camera), then switch to the 1500mm scope and ASI 224 to plate solve, and then slew to my intended target?
Thank you, very clear!
You're welcome!
My asi cap have only raw format ....it' ok ?
Doesn't # of guide stars depend on the part of the sky ? Away from the galactic plane, fewer stars are available for guiding, aren't they? Am I mistaken?
haven't found a situation yet where it wont find stars and we have lots of unpopulated skies in the southern hemisphere
Hi, I have an asiair plus with a recent patch. However, I would like to sell it since I don’t use it anymore. Do you know how to clean it to avoid personal info or reset to factory but leave the OS version as it is now? Thanks for your reply
Could this be power with Cellphone power banks with USB ports? I cannot see DC to USB cable are supplied in the current versions? many thanks from Auckland
yes you can port the mini using the USB C port too
Beginner question... So, the autofocuser only works if used with the ASI wi fi unit. Many thanks
no it works with ASCOM too :) so any ascom astronomy software
Ok. I bite. Just got this ASI585MC Pro for my Askar71F with focal length 490mm. Its starting to look like a ZWO warehouse in my garage with a RedCat51 (f/l 250mm) sporting the ASI183MC Pro, and the Astro Tech 115EDT (f/l 805mm or 644 with 0.8x reducer/flattener) equipped with the ASI294MC Pro (all are set up with guide scopes/ASI120MM minis and ASIAirs (Pro, Mini, and Plus, respectively). Configured this way, I can swap scopes fast on my AM5 equipped Primaluce pier. Which camera to put on which scope is a real head scratcher. Any recommendations?
Hi Simon, Great video I have an Omegon 104 ED 650mm focal length with a .8 x focal reducer/field Flattener with my ASI585mc pro I entered the focal length to be 520mm in the Asiair software my back focus is set at 55mm (which I would like you to confirm is correct) my problem is I cannot bring any stars into focus manually or af using the EAF and so polar alignment and plate solving naturally are also not working.. I am at my wits end here please help :)
Nice review, Simon! Thanks. I don't see any of these (perhaps the camera is too new) connected to an EFW. Is this bolted to the EFW, or is it screwed in (or either)? Thanks again! Looks like a great camera.
Great video and advice, thanks for your hard work
Any chance a "how to setup, use and process images" on Windows laptop?? I'm very new to astrophotography, just got a 8" Newtonian/ lx85 and the 595MC Pro. Thanks.
Can the EAF move between Hyperstar and 6.3 positions automatically? I have to twiddle like crazy today.
This was very useful information for me. At 70 years old I am a total newbie to astrophotography. There are so many choices when it comes to dedicated astro cameras. The 585 is definitely on my short list.
I am sure you have been travelling with NEAF and everything, but keep checking for new content. Any update on a bigger mount coming from ZWO? I think they would sell like hotcakes!
Should I ignore "Ensure DST (it is) is disabled on Mount Hand Controller. It is normal that the time on the mount is 1 hour earlier than local time.
Thanks for this but you move too quickly through some stuff that is confusing. You show the configuration page but don't explain what we are seeing. for example "WLAN Info" what is this? is this your home network or is this the mount's network? Either way, you say the mount has to be connected to the internet, so how do I connect the mount to my home network? You just skipped right over that. I greatly fear starting any firmware update process without being certain that I can complete it, so please don't say "Just follow the steps and you will understand as you go."
Which electronic assisted polar alignment is most accurate? Not sure if anyone has done a thorough comparison but anecdotally? Thanks for the video. I like the tip about extending the exposure time in ASIAIR PA. I was doing it wrong with the NB filter in place. Doh!
I’m new to this hobby. I just bought my first telescope the svbony sv503 70ed, and the asi533mc pro. Should I get a field flattener and if so, can you recommend something?
hello...I can't thank you enough for this review. I've been using a older Canon DSLR and wanting to venture into the CMOS ones but totally lost on all the versions and options. On a Forum everyone said go Cooled but most I saw were not cheap. then someone mentioned the 585MC and said it could do a bit of everything. Now I've seen this and it seems to fit everything; Budget, Planetary and DSO...very informative and covered everything....well done and thanks again...
This is absolutely wonderful And I’m happy I found this channel!!
Glad you enjoy it!
