    Ok. I bite. Just got this ASI585MC Pro for my Askar71F with focal length 490mm. Its starting to look like a ZWO warehouse in my garage with a RedCat51 (f/l 250mm) sporting the ASI183MC Pro, and the Astro Tech 115EDT (f/l 805mm or 644 with 0.8x reducer/flattener) equipped with the ASI294MC Pro (all are set up with guide scopes/ASI120MM minis and ASIAirs (Pro, Mini, and Plus, respectively). Configured this way, I can swap scopes fast on my AM5 equipped Primaluce pier. Which camera to put on which scope is a real head scratcher. Any recommendations?

    Thanks for this but you move too quickly through some stuff that is confusing. You show the configuration page but don't explain what we are seeing. for example "WLAN Info" what is this? is this your home network or is this the mount's network? Either way, you say the mount has to be connected to the internet, so how do I connect the mount to my home network? You just skipped right over that. I greatly fear starting any firmware update process without being certain that I can complete it, so please don't say "Just follow the steps and you will understand as you go."

    • @TeamAstroworkz
      @TeamAstroworkz 3 месяца назад

      Having tested Duo MC and MM - I can say that it performs fine with any LRGB filters - thats not the issue - the issue is narrow band filters with tight bandwidths combined with slower scopes - RASA for example would not be an issue - the limit for me was f/5 or slower and 3nm filters - 4.5nm was fine and wider - a faster scope would be fine but I don't own a RASA - but the the other admins do and tested fine

    I find the price increase for the Peltier cooler that ZWO and others charge for these cameras is excessive. Peltier coolers, fans and heat sinks are not that expensive. And they don't even include an AC power adapter.

    • @TeamAstroworkz
      @TeamAstroworkz 3 месяца назад

      AC adapters are not included as many people don't power cameras from them - they have a choice how they power the camera either from devices such as mount saddle power or ASIAIR power outlets - so they don't provide something that many won't need - prices demanded for cooled cameras across vendors .... theres a lot more to a cooled camera than a fan and cooler - if all vendors are asking similar increases it probably means theres more to their cost base than just adding a fan

    • @MikeHammer1
      @MikeHammer1 3 месяца назад

      @@TeamAstroworkz I get the issue with the AC adapter, but they are very inexpensive and allow someone who just spent hundreds to get started quickly. Regarding the price increase of the Pro 585 over the non-cooled 585, sorry, but I am not buying a $200 premium as a fair price increase for what amounts to about $10-15 in parts (I build a lot of electronic devices and even in single quantities it would not be much more). And they are just adapting existing technology to work on a new sensor, hardly an expensive endeavor, even the metal housings look identical. I would say that a fair price increase would be $75-100. BTW, SVBony is selling an equivalent to the ZWO ASI533 Pro monochrome and color cameras for the same/a little more than the ASI585MC Pro. The monochrome is the SVBONY SV605MC Cooled Camera (the equivalent 533MM is almost $1000), the color one is the SV605CC. The same Sony IMX533 chip is employed for both with the monochrome debayered, of course. $599 and $735 (but goes on sale for $599 periodically), respectively on Amazon, free deliveries and free returns.

    I have A6000 and ASIAir Mini. There is apparently no way to save to the cameras internal SD Card. I cannot get intervals less than 5 seconds no matter the setting. When using a USB stick I get a Hint popping up asking if I want to use the USB Stick, even though I already am using it. This results in an autorun error that stops imaging. Otherwise it works. I will try using the ASIAir for alignment, composition and GoTo, then unplug the camera and use an intervalometer for imaging. Sony RAW files on the SD Card are half the size of the ASIAir FIT files and I can get short intervals. It would be nice if ZWO would implement an "Intervalometer Mode" but people have been asking for that for years, so I don't think it will happen.

  • @Rubik3x

    Would ASI Studio work better for me for DSO than my ASIair Pro? I have a Celestron NexStar 6" Evolution mount that does a good job of maintaining alignment. I also have ASIair Pro and ASI 462 camera. They work great shooting moon and planets in video mode. But, without a guide camera, it appears impossible (?) to take hundreds of 15 second exposures automatically and save them to the USB drive for off-line stacking. Would one of the apps in Studio make this possible? I can connect the camera to a laptop next to the scope vs. remotely with WiFi. Will Studio work with the ASIair pro?

    • @TeamAstroworkz
      @TeamAstroworkz 4 месяца назад

      Studio is a stand alone suite of software - it doesnt actually interface with ASIAIR at all - Pro will do what Studio does for capture and stacking to be honest - Alt Az mounts will be limited in exposure times - the issue with the evo and 462 is that it will be limited in field of view and also plate solve will be a prob given the tiny field of view - studio relies on PHD2 as an extra to guide for example ... not sure why capturing 15s frames would be an issue but likely the issue is star drift (?) no easy answer for alt az on a fork mount or arm like the evo

    • @Rubik3x
      @Rubik3x 4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes, plate solving with ASIair hasn't work for me with this setup. I've stacked video files of nebula using ASIair Pro and Autostakkert! with limited results. The short exposure time of video frames makes for noisy images. All I really want is a way to automate the process of taking hundreds of 15s (+/-) exposures so that I can stack them in AutoStakkert! Possible?

    I just got the Svbony version of the 294, the SV405CC, and I spent the last few hours trying to get the calibration sorted. I was thrown off by Siril, and their article _"Enough with dark flats"_ and the fact that the Siril program seems to insist on you using bias files instead. So I went through a lot of trial and error trying to use bias files, and the results kept ending up worse than using no calibration files at all. But after using your method here, and dumping the bias files, I finally got a good result without any of those weird shadows at the sides, and my master-flat finally removed the few dust spots that are somewhere in my rig. It was also a kind of a eureka moment when I realised that I had to calibrate the flats using the "dark" checkbox instead of the "bias" checkbox when calibrating in Siril.. which became blatantly obvious as soon as I thought about it! I think I'm on the right track now, thanks!

    Now my question is : how can we guide a harmonic mount such as the AM5/3 that requires a 1 s exposure with this guidecam with a 5nm filter ( you also mentioned the Antlia 4.5 edge wich I also have)? I haven’t test the mono version of the duo but I own the color version for few months now and I can say that it doesn’t work well with my AM5 + f4 scope + Antlia ALP 5nm. It works at exp 3s but not at 1s that’s for sure. So if you want to guide sub-second as recommended with this kind of mount and with a narrower filter you will probably put the guide scope back on the tube, at least this what I did.

    • @TeamAstroworkz
      @TeamAstroworkz 4 месяца назад

      I have not encountered any issue guiding 1s using the duo and NB filters - at 1s the edge 4.5 show enough stars with the gain of the guide camera set correct - sub second you will start to need wider filters or faster scopes like RASA's for sure ... its a bit of a balancing act

    Would something like this work to auto run a sequence for a ZWO OSC camera for the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse? If so any thought on what a good sequence would be? Thx

    Player One have had this sensor out in a cooled camera for a while with the Uranus-C. Good to see a like for like competitive product. Anyone that wants to see how this sensor performs, take a look at shots taken with the Uranus-C. The Player One cameras can run uncooled off of the usb and the 12v only cools the camera, which is handy for setup etc as it will run uncooled. Not sure why ZWO haven't done the same.

    Watched, thanks. Does answer my question. Think an Optolong L-Pro light pollution filter would also work?

      This is cheap for a good quality astro camera. Don't start looking at crop sensor or full framed cameras or you may pass out, or even worse the equivalent Sony mirrorless full framed camera bodies as their almost $10k au price tag may give you a stroke 🤣

    Very informal video, thank you. I have a Celestron c6 and was wondering what your thoughts about the camera with the c6 over the 533. I do have the .63 reducer

      thanks for the feedback - should be ok ... for planetary or deep sky - sampling rate is 0.63 arcsec/px - not too bad :)
