Thanks for your videos. I bought a used saw that won't run and had me pulling my hair out. The gasket was on the wrong side of the diaphragm. Your a great teacher thanks for your information!

You spliced the video where you started to punch in the new check valve. Were there issues getting it in?

I bored and sleeved engines for 17 years portable for lots of car repair shops. Mostly inline 4 cylinders. If I walked up to a engine that has been previously sleeved I would deny the job. I have been bit too many times trying to square away other machinists crappy work. I had 3,4,or 5 engines to do that day and just one big hassle job could affect my whole day. You putting on a new carburetor was the perfect right thing to do.

That screw inside the carburetor around 50:00 isn't a Phillips. That's a JIS drive screw. If you use the correct screwdriver (not a Phillips) you'll be less likely to bugger it up.

I regret buying this saw new a few months ago. I don't need much, just the ability to cut some firewood and downed branches, figured that would be perfect. Wrong. Impossible to start, even new. Used it once to clear branches that fell on our fence and haven't been able to start it since. Thought I was buying a good name brand and now I'll never buy one again.

I have a ms271 you cannot choke at all if floods,open throttle, set in run and it starts.

It must be illegal up there to use a pipe or mod the muffler cause all the saws I see on here have stock SUFFOCATING MUFFLERS!

MS250 chainsaw has a high compression motor that's all and what makes them hard to start but also stihi's costing on their production by using the similar platform as the MS170 up to MS250 using the same interchangeable parts making the. Ratio of the pull start not as compatible for the 45CC High compression motor. Having said that, the MS250 is the best homeowner 45 cc ever made.

This is a typical saw in my area. Plugger Air Filter, water, dirt in their ethanol fuel, use oil for bar oil and chain so dull you couldn’t cut your leg with it if you tried.

Local Stihl dealer. Would have cost me more to get the engine running again than top but a new chainsaw. Shop labor rate was $130/hr.

Great video and your customer doesn't deserve that saw.. maintenance is important and obviously he doesn't do any 😂

After rebuilding my ms250 with an after market cylinder assembly I got on Amazon, I also had a kickback problem that kept the engine from starting. I found that the key slot in the crank shaft was advanced by about 10 degrees ahead of that in the original one. I took the piston off of the new cylinder assembly and put it on the original crankshaft and reassembled the saw. The saw started right up and the kickback was gone. I hope that my experience may be of help to others.

I have been using Stihl 066, 090G and MS880. The Stihl 090G is a beast. The MS880 comes second as the exhaust has more restriction. The old 066 (renamed to MS660) was a nice allround chainsaw. Would be great to see a repair of MS880 if you get it for maintenence

Poor fella. I’m sure he was fighting like the dickens to get the darn thing running too. I’d bet he was alittle miffed at himself when you told him the deal. With that said those easy start saws have a whole different starting process and folks that aren’t familiar with it ruin a lot of equipment.

I have a ms170 and from brand new it has been hard to start and lacks power after refueling what would the problem be

Yea i bought a carb on amazon and someone messed with high low and likely sent back to amazon and they pushed it off on me.

You mix too much 2 stroke oil in gas you will get carbon build up. Below rigs and piston aluminum pinching rigs so pisten movement is not smooth all the time. Tear it apart

I dont think I would say its on you. I work on a lot of stuff, cars, trucks, heavy equipment and so on, and people dont always give you all the information you need to know when they bring you stuff. I have learned to ask a lot of questions.

I can’t imagine your SKILL level to accomplish this task. I only change the spark plug when mine is hard to start. Very good video on tracking down the problem and fixing it. Thanks for sharing 😊.

Excellent work! Thorougly inspected, tested and defects repaired. Good call changing carb fuel pump and metering gaskets. I am a retired aircraft mechanic and I always preach about a good thorough inspection of equipment, parts before tearing things down, this can give you great information to assist in the repair. Keep up the great repairs, enjoy catching a video when time permits. Love the Ontario sunset--beautiful 💯💥👍💪
