- I am so happy that you are here with me!
This Husqvarna 562 Autotune Chainsaw was dropped off at the shop for repair.
The customer said that it makes a bad noise when it's running and that he needs to fixed ASAP!
I am not very familiar with this model of saw, but I will give it a shot!
Come with me and let's see if we can find out what the noise is and If we can fix it for him!
I don't see a lot of Husky saws in for repair - and that is because I am not a dealer for them and there is a Husky dealer just down the road from me. You will mainly see Stihl's here because I am a dealer for them. BUT, when I have the chance to work on a Husky for you - I will!
I hope you enjoy this video!
If you like watching me work on chainsaws here is a playlist packed full of hours of repair content: • Stihl Chainsaw Repair ...
See you again very soon!
Erica
Good Friday Morning! I am SO glad that you are here! Here is a little story about a Husqvarna 562XP that made "bad sounds" and had a starting problem! I don't work on a lot of Husky's, but I did my best! I really hope you enjoy the video! We have had a busy week in the shop - a snow storm, a little bit of construction work in the shop and lots of chainsaw repairs! Right now on the bench - a Stihl MS361 that doesn't run well! I hope you all gave a wonderful day, see you all again soon! :) *Please, Like the video and leave me comment! Do you want to see more Husqvarna content?
I want to watch more and more and hopefully you'll teach people to avoid Stihl oils...
Yes , more Husqvarna content please !🙂
I've seen some comments about you getting out of your comfort zone but its pretty clear you're comfortable around any 2 stroke equipment. This video is a great example of how people shouldn't fear working on autotune or mtronic saws. Yes sometimes you won't be able to repair those specific components but other than that they all operate on the same principles, no matter what manufacturer label is on it. (it was already broke so a hammer would have been fine 🙂)
Thank you, Scott! 😊
Well done Erica!! That recoil was baaad. 😂That is why using the decomp is important on the new stuff. Its not for starting its for less wear and tear on plastic parts.
Could it not also be the way you use the pull cord, sort off like the proper way off kicking a motocross bike over, you gently engage the starter apparatus then you pull, not just yank it!
@@tobiaskarlsson9094 My thinking exactly!
Hello Erica! Hej from Sweden! Just hammer the clutch next time, you’ll safe so much time! Just normal to do so… They have great handling some features are better then Stihls, they usually can’t take the working load the competing Stihl does but ehm very nice saws to work with if for exemple precision is needed.
Have an absolutely fantastic weekend! Thank you for the job of yours, I wish you were here in the middle of Sweden! Cheers 🎉❤
I'm a Husky guy, looking forward to seeing more of them on here!
It's cool to see the little differences in the way Stihls and Huskies are engineered.
My opinion on that saw, someone got in there and tried to replace those pins on the rewind. What was in there looked homemade to me. Was it done as a result of the clutch breaking? Probably. Good work Erica.
Hi Erica. For the Stihl bolt on a Husqvarna i would put anti rejection medication in the fuel mix just in case. More seriously the broken recoil pulley is probably caused by the broken clutch part that jammed in the cover while cranking.
Great video.
Tyler! Such a gentleman to clear the snow for your video!
He is such a gentleman! :) He didn't want to see me trudging through snow with a saw in hand.
@@marriedwithsmallenginesHe didn’t want to incur the wrath of
Since I am a native of New England and lived there for quite some years....I love seeing the snow....and I so miss it now that I live in Maryland. Thank you, Tyler, for clearing the snow! I wish I could do some of that. 🙂. My friends in Maryland probably feel I'm crazy.
Glad to see you’re going to try to expand your horizons.
I’m the proud owner of one of these I love it
U fix a variety of brands and older saws more than most do...amazing work loads
Thanks 👍
When the starter pawls are on the flywheel it’s a good idea pulling slack on the starter rope as you’re shutting down on a larger saw. It doesn’t happen all the time but when it does you can feel it pull from your hand when the pawls grab the recoil. The slack takes up the force that the recoil would otherwise see. Those Husky clutch drum bearings are greased through the center hole in the end of the crankshaft with a needle tipped grease gun. I am not brand loyal and bought a 550xp g a number of years ago to try ‘em out. So far, so good. A great display of resourcefulness I must say! Great job!👍
I'm not sure why everyone thinks pulling out the rope before you shut it off helps, buckin said that one time and maybe it might be true for a super old saw but when the motor is spinning the dogs stay out of the way at all times the only time the dogs activate it when you pull the rope so when you shut the machine off its literally just coming to a stop and the pull start does nothing with the dogs, when you pull out the rope your making your engine come to a smacking hault by making the pull start grab the dogs. Its actually bad for a saw to do that. All you meed to do it shut it off and the engine will wind down to a stop and not even have anything to do with the pull start I dont get why people think this
@@quadvloggs6876 Your logic doesn't make any sense. When the engine is running the pawls are out doesn't matter if the rope is all the way in or even all the way out. What does happen on shut-down is the engine may rotate in the opposite of running rotation and pulling out the rope a little bit prevents damage to the recoil mechanism.
@@joehead1294 Hmm....I don't know what to believe, and I've worked on small engines all my life. I think I'll pay close attention to this and see whether there's any truth to this theory. I wonder who's right?
@@quadvloggs6876 That is because the pawls are on the flywheel. When the engine stops, it will make a kick backwards. With the pawls on the flywheel, the pawls will grab the pulley and give it and the rope a hard yank. But only with the pawls on the flywheel!
@@KevinMaxwell-o3t Don't do it on saws with pawls in the pulley, it will damage them. Not doing it on largish saws with pawls in the flywheel will damage them over time. Try it on a larger Swedish saw, it'll give a yank on the rope - not a hard yank, because there is some give, when you hold the handle out.
I've been repairing saws since the early 1980s, and the problem was worse then!
Love to see huskies being worked on, glad you plan on taking more on. Maybe that recoil damage is related to the clutch damage. If the broken piece locked it up and he still yanked on the cord...
Good Saturday 😀
I'm surprised you didn't check the gas this time. Good job !
Tell the customer to clean and maintain the saw
Erica I think you are a master of whatever you do !!
Very methodical with a clean workbench. Great channel
I try to keep things tidy! 😊 Thank you SO MUCH! Coffee time for me!
@ indeed!
The pull handle knot was a “figure eight” and the recoil knot you made is called an “overhand” knot. FYI
Yay husky!! Nothing wrong with getting some dirty Swedish two-stroke on the bench.
Those starter pulls go like that because people don't use the de comp valve enough. I use Husqvarna saws in the UK since I was 18 and im 51 now. There's a channel called Goodfellers that has a lot of excellent videos on these newer Husqvarna saws.
Thank you for the video.
Let me give you a small piece of advice with husky clutch drums that are inverted, make sure the clutch is properly torqued on if you plan on running the motor without the bar and chain and clutch cover. You could end up chasing your clutch, clutch drum and sprocket down the road. If the clutch is not tight, when you let of the throttle the clutch will unscrew it's self and take off down the road at over a thousand rpm.😂 Ask me how I know?😮
You tied a granny knot that time. Every time I work on my saw, I'm out of my comfort zone, lol. Your content has helped me fix my fathers 044, which I am grateful for. Not only does it cut well, it has a lot of sentimental value. Happy holidays to you and your family.
You as well , thank you so much!
Thanks Erica for another excellent video! Between you and Scott at ( The greasy shop rag), I get my weekly dose of chain saw repairs I need for my inner NERD satisfaction.
You have gotta love Stihl for using T27 wherever they can, it makes life so much easier to work on their gear, rather than Allen keys, hex screws and posidriv of other makes. Good instruction video. Thank you.
I use both Husky and Stihl saws so I'm glad you were willing to make this video for us!
She even had the Husky clutch in stock! : )
I prefer Husqvarna, parts are so much more available. I try to purchase all engine components OEM so waiting for my Stihl dealer to price me a pull cord assembly for my TS400 is really annoying. Husqvarna I can easily go online and order it from them directly and have it shipped in 2 days.
I like Stihl, but your information on the availability of Husqvarna parts is good to know. Thanks!
A lot of steels in shop! Love my Husqvarna
Brilliant Erica your manner and attitude is excellent, always enjoy your videos, thank you 😎🤙🏻🏴🌲
Must be nice to work on something different from time to time! You did very well. Nice alternative use for the toe-nail scissors LOL.
Hi Erica, In a previous video you mentioned you had OCD,. I have CDO, that way the letters are in order, the way they should be! 😝Thanks for the video!
Thank you Erica for the fine videos.
I know the hornet isn't a rush, but I'm so excited to see that one!
Me too
That'll be fun to see how it was put together, and love to hear it run... turn the chain.
When you scrap old machines keep all nuts and bolts great video keep the coffee rolling tel him when it doesn't make any noise you want to worry
Wow ,., a husky finally broke down lol,.,. Tkzz for sharing,.,.peace
Great video!!! Having a small metal lathe and milling machine, enables one to come up with all kinds of tools, you would otherwise spend a lot of money on..
I'm so glad to be here watching you fix chainsaws.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Great video once again. These videos are giving me the confidence to work on my family’s saws myself so thank you for that. Also I seen the giveaway ECHO behind you, 21K getting closer to that goal, keep it up!
I’m hoping you are warm and safe up there, Thank You’ll for all the great videos 😊😊😊
It's cold and snowy! Brr!
Good day. I assume the saw was hard to start because that piece that broke off the clutch jammed the hole crank shaft. Than someone pulled on the recoil with a lot of force to overcome that and broke the recoil. The saw started one last time and was shut off because of the noise from the clutch cover and the broken recoil went unnoted.
Very good observation!
My dad has a Husky 51 and the last time i borrowed it from him, i thought it was very loud. One nut from the muffler was missing, and the other was easy to remove. Funny to see that there was a missing muffler bolt in this video on another Husky.
Hello
You did a great job, no question. You dont have to explain that you are not familiar with Huskys.Others cant do it better.
I like the 562xp, very Powerfull and lokks really nice to me.Autotune makes the saws rev fast.
Thanks for the good Start in my Weekend.
Greetings from Germany.
Love the toenail clippers to cut the pull cord. My local dealer does Stihl Husqvarna and Echo saws. I run mainly Husky and a couple of Stihls when you get used to them, they are easy enough. I would love to see more Husky stuff on the channel.
Liked the Revlon-Snap On comparison, too bad Revlon doesn’t make mechanics tools. Another informative video thanks.
Hi Erica. Thanks for another good vid. The idea to work on the odd husky is a great idea, they are a very common saw……lots of them out there.
Good Evening Erica 😀 Husqvarna Time 😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I am jealous when I see you have the proper tool to complete a task 😆 Thanks so much for the video, Erica!!!
I didn't realize you get that much saw repairs
It's like a neverending line of chainsaws
Thank you for making the videos they are entertaining and I enjoy watching you do that voodoo you do so well on your workbench.
“Overhand Knot” pretzel - enjoying your work!! The other “Stihl Knot” is a “figure of eight knot”.
Another great repair job Erica, glad you didn’t take the hammer to that clutch! As a Kombi KM131R owner, I’m looking forward to you servicing that Kombi unit. Take care!
Surprising on the clutch removal that Husky approves of screwdriver, hammer removal method. I can't do it either, bought the tool! 😊
Erica I have a Husqvarna 435E living on my bench as we speak . I'm tryibg to source some parts like the worm gear and oiler . 😮
Good job as usual. When you say properly gapped plug before you put it in I myself believe you checked the gap funny someone would ask.
I asked it to confirm if she always does check the gap of a brand new spark plug. I do it, but I understand not many people do it when they unbox a plug from factory package 😊
Morning from northwest Washington Erica. Those studs on the recoil were most likely bent when the clutch bound up from the broke clutch part and he tried to start it. Lucky it did not cause more damage. I love watching your videos. Nice job.
You’ll manage fine working on Husqvarnas.
I absolutely love n look forward to your sarcasm..ah..videos, a laugh is good medicine and you certainly give me an educational giggle, thankyou ❤🇦🇺
Erica, one he** of a fix up job. Excellent and entertaining as usual. Very nice job 👏
I just started watching this, I have a husky 562 that won’t run, hope this helps! If not I have a long drive to get it to you.
Awesome job.
And you get a cool box😊
Good job on this one, shows your versatility. Us tool nerds love to buy special tools we might use once. Saves damage to the durrounding parts.
Been watching the radar tracks of the lake effect snow storms. You all in eastern Ontario are getting hammered. Southern New England, not so much.
BTW the chain bite on your knuckle seems to be healing nicely.
Looking forward to your next video.
Snow season is here! And yes, my little injury is healing up nicely! :)
I thought that wound was a bite from a rabid beaver. Thankfully it is healing and no signs of rabies.
I got my wife nail clippers like that and she had a huge fit 😢😢😢So I bought my own ones now and they are costly 😊
Hey ! Well done ! I use both Husky and Stihl . I love to se your repair videos 👍
Husky makes a good saw but the gen1 562 saws had alot of problems.
thx for the partnr.
Its a husky day, good morning from Washington state looking like a well used saw,at least the clutch isn't like the old S shaped clutch that Homelite put on the smaller saws that always broke, and that starter is really hammered, thumbs up,great video
Great video,Erica.Thank u for showing any saw.Luv them all. Thanks for demonstrating gapping a sparkplug.lolLuv the part numbers on tools and supplies.Excellent extra info.
Great video. You didn’t mention any threads locker in the Pawl bolts. I started using blue. You’re doing great with different brands.
Excellent job! Thank you ma'am!!
Thank you!!
What a difference there is between the Husqvarna and the Sthil, the Husqvarna seem much more refined and modern in a way, but sure I might not have seen all the Stihls though.
I’m more familiar with Stihl chainsaws, but that was an interesting video to see how different a Husqvarna is!
My Guess Is The Customer Had a Slipping Chain Due to a Worn Out Rim Sprocket and Developed Tinkeritis and Figured There Was a Clutch Slipping Issue and Tried Too “Hsmmer Off” The Clutch But Went In The Wrong Direction Against the Recoil And Thus Damaged The Paws and Recoil Pulley and Pins He Then Gave Up And Brought Too You Too Mend It Back Up 😀😇❤️🤕 Erica Good Repair in Unfamiliar Territory It’s Nice Being Cross Trained 😀
Thank you for posting this excellent video. I'm pondering how to electric start a chain saw. Yes, I know there is "that other" way of starting it with a drill, but that is a great way to get a broken wrist and other unpleasant, serious injuries. And it doesn't offer the one-click convenience and eye-to-your-safety that I think you need. Hmmm. I am also very interested to see that you did not check the fuel or the bar oil on this saw. I did like it when you checked the air filter.
Glad to see Erica on again stay warm take care of Mr Chainsaw !!! Make him get you some Husky tools HA HA
I will tell him you said so! Guess what I will be getting for Christmas this year!!
well done as always. The level of commitment is insane. hats off, amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
I work on any brand, especially older saws. Husky's are my favorite, then Dolmar/Makita. Stihls are too pricey lol, like JD Green! Never touch the M-Tronic or AutoTune since I can't buy the hardware or software not being a dealer.
Agreed,on M-Tronic,Auto Tune that you need the computer program for, it makes it hard to work on, I used to do a lot of old Homelite saws myself, that kinda dried up last year or 2,great video on this saw
The reason Stihl uses computerized anything is to stop any except stihl to be able to repair the fuel system failure. Dodge still is that way, John Deere lost the lawsuit against them called RIGHT TO REPAIR. Even though owner have the right to touch the electronics there isn’t much aftermarket anything to fill the gap just like Stihl
Make my own clutch removal tools from 1/2” drive 1-1/4 socket. Cutting the tabs for lining up with the clutch arms
@magicone9327 exactly
@@magicone9327 you can just buy the software and plugs from Stihl (at least in the Netherlands you can ...)
Good on you to work your way through the husky. No fear!😅
Revlon rope shears 😂. Saw them laying there and recognized immediately 😮. I prefer three dollar Chinese flush cutters that I picked up specifically for zip ties😅. Seems like the Husky doesn’t walk off the mat. Must be the anti vibes are working better at that rpm? 😊
Perfect! Congrats!❤
Another successful chainsaw repair is in the books
Hi, love your channel, great videos. I updated my recoil assy with the "new and improved " 4 pin pulley, your original pulley assy was a 2 pin setup. Thanks for shareing your time with us.
Fix one saw, have one coffee. Great philosophy i think 😊
That's the way I work :)
Neat channel, glad to have found it.
Another awesome video, thank you, Erica
Great work Erica! 👍👍👍
I believe it was stihl and I clean my filters every 2 to 3 gas fills
Yeah you are right the recoil not supposed to look like that…😂 yhink it’s an engineering faux pas that they’ve recently corrected by going to 4 post starter mechanism instead of 2. But they are very good saws, just that one looks like “rode hard & put away wet”. Broken clutch on such a young saw, crazy
Hi ya, did you get your 4 post starter pulley from a Husky dealer? Cheers
Good to see you move outside your comfort zone.
Another great video! Thank you Erica.
Might the recoil starter parts be damaged by hammering the clutch off without using a piston stop?
I think the recoil posts were bent the first time he tried to start it with the clutch in pieces and binding up?
Well now this was an interesting video and a great job on that Husqvarna chainsaw. Looks like you have a lot of snow there. I hope it stays there and doesn't come down to me in Kansas.
Thanks for your great review!
One of your better videos. Thanks again.
Good Evening, Just sitting down now to see this 562 Xp. 😅.
Enjoy!
Good Video, 😊.
That 2 man hornet in for its 70 year routine service isn’t getting any closer to the front of the queue Erica…….
It's too heavy to move up the line so it sits there Lol
Thanks for another great video, Erica.
Right on,enjoyed your video on this husky.enjoy your coffee Erica.cheers
Cheers to you!
@@marriedwithsmallengines thank you
Bedankt
Thank you!! :)
I wonder if the recoil was busted from drop starting it. I read somewhere drop starting is bad for some Huskys.
