    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn 2 дня назад

      It will not. You need to use an ego with a multi head. The reason for this is due to the straight shaft trimmers they have a drive by wire vs the steal internal shaft that is needed for the rotary scissors. Hope this help. I did address the video linked below. ruclips.net/video/wt43M2gV0pk/видео.htmlsi=30lb5Qlo1G1ToRm9

    • @dwaynesworldlawn

      They were not available at the time i purchased the idech. At that time, the ego rotary scissors were only available in other countries. I did get a deal at the time but yes agree it would have been a better value to go with the ego. Thanks for the comment!!!! 👍🏻

    Something I see very often in American turf videos is leggy turf that is very tall. To make it look great it really needs to be groomed regularly, usually every second or third cut. Grooming is not verticutting, scarifying or dethatching either.

    Put out my Perrenial Rye on Columbus day and mowed today with the Ryobi. Definitely better stripes with the Mclane! I had some spots that were thin and I figured it was my error. I used certainty and celsius a couple weeks before seeding. I used my pro plugger and just flipped my plugs and put a bit of seed down. Figure in the spring the bermuda will fill in just fine.

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn 23 дня назад

      Just be sure to spray out the rye. Celcius is a great option. 👍🏻

  • @geomark8851
    @geomark8851 23 дня назад

    Love that stripe action! Bet you also enjoyed whipping that McLane around so easily! My McLane is a 25 inch GR series and, just like you said, it is so easy to maneuver compared to the Catalyst. I can't even imagine how easy a 20 inch would be! I cut a diamond pattern and use the McLane for the initial pass and then follow it up with the Catalyst for the long, alternate passes which minimizes the turns with the Catalyst. I think the Catalyst does leave a slightly more refined look so that is another reason I finish with it. I'm waiting to see how you use the other cartridge(s) on the Bermuda before I try the verticutter on the Zoysia which still hasn't totally recovered from the height of cut reset that I had to do with the Catalyst due to its maximum 1.25 inch cut. I may have to wait for Spring.

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn 23 дня назад

      Hopefully i can put out some new videos on the cartridges for the Catalyst. Stay tuned… As far as ease of turning the Mclane maybe one of the best in the game. Believe or not the 25 and 20 are about the same as it relates to ease of flipping around. Appreciate the comment Mark!!!!

    You sneaky guy! I never guessed that you picked up a 7 blade WITH the 10. Nice stripe action showing on your lawn now. Mine hasn't been mowed in over a week (I've been out of town) and it is recovering nicely from my height-of-cut reset. Time to get out and fire the Catalyst up. I like to change that first oil fill after about 5 hours and this should finish it up. Fortunately, they sent me 2 quarts of oil with the Catalyst so I've got plenty.

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn 24 дня назад

      Sorry for the delayed response Mark. I didn’t intend on buying a 7 blade or at least not right now but figured “what the hell” and decided to go for it. As always i really appreciate and enjoy reading your comments and hope you are able to close out the growing season with a bang. Party on 🎉

    Is there a relief grind on your reel? I have heard that backlapping only works good if you a relief grind.

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn Месяц назад

      When you compare a spin grind vs relief grind, you want a relief grind if you plan to backlap. Backlapping a spun grind reel is not recommend. People have mentioned that a spin grind is stronger and will hold and edge longer but the down side is not being able to backlap. Hope this helps 👍🏻

    ProPEAT has a 10-0-10 that you can get from Home Depot online. They have a few options. A couple of them are greens grade; I don't think that one is, but I haven't tried it. I usually get the 13-5-8, which is greens grade. Looking forward to seeing how the overseed turns out and future Catalyst content as a fellow Catalyst owner.

    Hi Dwayne, beautiful mower. How does it compare to the Revolution outside of the cartridge system? Which has the better build quality and is changing the belt a headache for the Catalyst? It’s narrowed to those 2. Thanks!

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn Месяц назад

      Both mowers will most likely have the same quality of cut. As far as durability, i cannot say as i do not own a revolution and have only had my catalyst for a few weeks now. With that said both company are great and will stand behind there product if you have any issues. Reel rollers did do a great job on delivering on an all chain driven system for the Revolution. It also allows for backlapping without the removal of the chain. The chains also standard vs metric making replacement easy to obtain. The cal trimmer belts are simple to replace. The main belt that comes off the motor is a gator belt and is very durable and really should not need to be replaced very often if at all. The belts are a better option then chain on a cartridge system as quick belt removal is needed as a chain removal will take more time. It’s a really hard comparison as it’s unfair to either mower because of the cartridge system. With that said if you want a cartridge system cal trimmer is the one to go with. Hope this helps and appreciate the comment question 👍🏻

    And what height are you gonna be mowing the rye and with what (reel/rotary). Can we expect winter weeds doing this. Thanks I’m thinking of doing this

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn Месяц назад

      Probably about 3/4 to 1 inch. Rye can tolerate shorter but i think it looks best the 3/4 inch range. Winter weeds can come up but i don’t really worry too much as i am to kill it off in spring either way and would need to use a herbicide them. If i had a lot of weeds the best option is a herbicide that is safe for both Bermuda and cool season grass such as a 3 way. In regards to rotary or reel, reel will give you a cleaner look but a rotary worlds well and i would probably use if mowing at 1.5 inches or taller. The big thing is you want to spray it out when the Bermuda starts to come out of dormancy and you will have a slower green up then if you didn’t overseed.

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn Месяц назад

      The best thing to use to kill rye is either celcius or certainty. Both are rated to kill rye grass. If you have poa or sedges in your lawn along with other weed i would combine the two. If i could just choose one i would choose celcius. Need to use full rate.

      Why not use the liquid vs of the product? Prodiamine is sold in both small and large quantities and is easy to mix.

    If you don't have some rebar to use - a Gearwrench 13mm 3/8 drive deep socket on 2 long extensions works really well. The 13mm nut fitting end passes through the sleeve but the shoulder of the socket drive end rests on the edge of the sleeve, making it easy to drive the sleeve out. My new sleeves also had one that was a hand press fit so I saved that for the outside roller that is the last to fit onto the axle. Your instructions were spot on and a big help!

    Welcome back to the crispy walk-behind edger world. That Tru Cut is a beauty! Did you say how old it is and I missed it? I will never part with my 40 year old Trail Mate edger! It has two sealed bearings supporting the blade shaft and they are still rolling smoothly even after 40 years without being re-greased. It is powered by a 2.5 B&S flat head with a pulsajet carburetor. I keep expecting the diaphragm to fail but it just keeps on ticking! It has 2 front wheels like your old McLane so it is a little harder to edge the curved sidewalks than your new Tru Cut. I just lift the back wheels off of the ground a little and pivot around the curves balanced on the front wheels. My driveway is long and the radius is much lower so I leave the back wheels down when I edge it. I used a HIPA carburetor to repair my 5 HP B&S OHV engine on my Chipper/Shredder. It needed partial choke to remain running, so I cleaned and rebuilt the OEM carburetor but it still ran lean. I couldn't figure out what I did wrong so I bought the HIPA carburetor. It worked smoothly without any adjustment so I can heartily second your recommendation!

    Looking forward to seeing how this product works out for you Dwayne. I purchased 2 bags of this product from The Andersons during their Black Friday Sale in 2023. I had previously picked up 9 bags of The Anderson's 18-0-4 + 0.38% Barricade from a local distributor who had gone out of business. At $20/bag I purchased all the product he had on hand. I am still kicking my butt for not picking up The Andersons 16-4-8 while I was there. Due to mower problems I was not able to get the fertilizer + Barricade product out until this week so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I have got the product out on time. Been one of those years

      It’s always better late then never. Poa is the tough one that tends to break through. You can always check your soil temperatures but we are for sure toward the end of that window for most parts of the country. In regards to the great deal what a difference a couple of years makes. I remember buying humic max 45lbs which is a 16-0-8 and a great fertilizer like pgf complete for about $45.00 per bag. I should have order a pallets worth then. lol

      @@dwaynesworldlawn Tell me about it. I love the PGF Complete but not at $99 a bag! I threw out Princep at 3 Oz/gallon using my Orthro Hose End Sprayer two weeks prior. It had separated but a little hot water added to the jug took care of that along with advice from Rodney Dangerfield it was all shook up!

    The Suniland Pre-emergent + fertilizer prills are probably an expanded clay/shale particle. The clay or shale is ground to the right size particle and then treated in a steam and pressure vessel (somewhat like how they turn rice into rice crispies). This stabilizes the particle so it doesn't break down in shipment and can be spread easily. The pre-emergent is sprayed onto the particle before bagging and after you spread it on your lawn, you water the chemical off of the particle and down into the soil. Because the carrier particle has been stabilized, it will be very slow to break down but that doesn't mean that it hasn't released its treatment into the lawn. Even though the particle has been stabilized, it will eventually break down so you don't have to worry about a buildup of particles in your lawn. The luggage weight scale is a good idea. I should use it instead of my lazy way: I use Google earth to measure the square footage of each of my lawn sections and buy bags of product in different sizes to roughly equal the lawn sections. A 50 pound bag will usually treat my side and back yard while a 20 pound bag will treat my front. I'm probably over and under a little bit which is fine for fertilizer but not so good for pre-emergent, fungicide, and insecticide. Your measuring and weighing technique is definitely the way to go!

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn Месяц назад

      I appreciate all the good information. The point you make about not weighing out fertilizer and using the product weight and apply to that amount of sq footage is a good practice. I always say if i downsize or adjust the size of my lawn it will be based on the size of fertilizer bags. lol. I appreciate the support as always 👍🏻

    Those "rocks" are just carrier prills. They're coated with the chemical. That coating rinses off upon irrigation. But it is important to not bag clipping for a couple of mows after application to ensure all product gets rinsed off and into the soil over a couple of irrigation cycles

    What are the different flow rates you get with the Teejet 110? The tip is rated at .4 gpm - are you able to get that rate? Thanks

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn Месяц назад

      The sprayer has 2 setting. Basically a low and a high. The low is a 36psi and high or 65 psi. Although I’ve use a teejet nozzle i have not done a flow test to see what the gpm is with that specific tip. For how i use the back sprayer, i do a calibration test to get how long it should take me to spray 1000 sq feet to understand my walking speed. Once you have how fast you should be walking, it will ensure your putting down the correct amount of product over that 1000 or how ever many sq ft. Sorry i couldn’t provide the exact f answer you are seeking.

    For the final question on your video: You only received two cartridges that you captured on your original unboxing and assembly video: the 10 blade cartridge and an extra cartridge that you referred to as a "scarifier" cartridge. I thought you must have mis-spoke and called the Verticutter a Scarifier. I now think you got both and you snuck the turf rake in the cartridge box that you haven't shown yet! Very sneaky...

      @@dwaynesworldlawn Newsflash from the News Central Desk! My mower arrived and it looked just like yours except sitting next to the Verticutter cartridge box stacked on top of the mower box was a separate smaller box which I assume is the turf rake box. You have a turf rake and it wasn't sitting on top of the mower stack you received so I'm thinking you probably got a separate shipment and probably have both optional cartridges... If you do have both, I can't wait to see how the scarafier works. I've seen it used on the cool season grasses they have in England but I haven't seen it used on the warm season Bermuda. My Zorro Zoysia cut at 1.25 inches has the leaf length and structure of a cool season grass although it is definitely a warm season grass. I'll wait and see how the verticutter thins it out and solves the float problem but I might need to investigate the scarifier or even the dethatcher.
