Congratulations! I concede. The delivery of my Catalyst is scheduled for tomorrow morning so your first mow video did come first! My McLane is floating a lot now that the Zoysia is so thick at the end of the summer and the resulting cut is more un-even and rough than your yard. A couple of verticuts with the new Catalyst combined with the turf rake and heavier mower weight should help (I hope). The drive engagement must be pretty abrupt and catches most content creators by surprise - even the British creators featuring the Cobra Fortis. I hope we will get used to it and learn how to engage it softly. I wonder if there is an adjustment - perhaps spring tension - at the drive cable termination? Another great video! Many thanks for all of them. I am going to back-lap the McLane before I sell it, so I am watching your video on that which is very helpful - especially the hint about waiting for the sound change during the back-lap. I will also make sure to have it on cardboard before I start. Two good hints that I picked up watching your videos!
I appreciate the great support and kind words. Yes the new mower will take a little getting use to. I would say that you may like the way the Mclane maneuvers more then the catalyst but the catalyst has so many other great things that the Mclane could never do. I’m glad you have enjoy these videos and more to come 👍🏻
Something I see very often in American turf videos is leggy turf that is very tall. To make it look great it really needs to be groomed regularly, usually every second or third cut. Grooming is not verticutting, scarifying or dethatching either.
Hi Dwayne, beautiful mower. How does it compare to the Revolution outside of the cartridge system? Which has the better build quality and is changing the belt a headache for the Catalyst? It’s narrowed to those 2. Thanks!
Both mowers will most likely have the same quality of cut. As far as durability, i cannot say as i do not own a revolution and have only had my catalyst for a few weeks now. With that said both company are great and will stand behind there product if you have any issues. Reel rollers did do a great job on delivering on an all chain driven system for the Revolution. It also allows for backlapping without the removal of the chain. The chains also standard vs metric making replacement easy to obtain. The cal trimmer belts are simple to replace. The main belt that comes off the motor is a gator belt and is very durable and really should not need to be replaced very often if at all. The belts are a better option then chain on a cartridge system as quick belt removal is needed as a chain removal will take more time. It’s a really hard comparison as it’s unfair to either mower because of the cartridge system. With that said if you want a cartridge system cal trimmer is the one to go with. Hope this helps and appreciate the comment question 👍🏻
I believe that i will work. The reason i prefer to feather is so the reel is spinning at a higher RPM but you have the ability to go slow without compromising the reel speed. With that said the reel spinning at Lower rpm still does a great job cutting the grass. 👍🏻
I think you maybe to find them fairly soon but have a feeling will ask top dollar almost making it a better deal to go with new. That will prob be the case for a little while. 👍🏻
For the final question on your video: You only received two cartridges that you captured on your original unboxing and assembly video: the 10 blade cartridge and an extra cartridge that you referred to as a "scarifier" cartridge. I thought you must have mis-spoke and called the Verticutter a Scarifier. I now think you got both and you snuck the turf rake in the cartridge box that you haven't shown yet! Very sneaky...
@@dwaynesworldlawn Newsflash from the News Central Desk! My mower arrived and it looked just like yours except sitting next to the Verticutter cartridge box stacked on top of the mower box was a separate smaller box which I assume is the turf rake box. You have a turf rake and it wasn't sitting on top of the mower stack you received so I'm thinking you probably got a separate shipment and probably have both optional cartridges... If you do have both, I can't wait to see how the scarafier works. I've seen it used on the cool season grasses they have in England but I haven't seen it used on the warm season Bermuda. My Zorro Zoysia cut at 1.25 inches has the leaf length and structure of a cool season grass although it is definitely a warm season grass. I'll wait and see how the verticutter thins it out and solves the float problem but I might need to investigate the scarifier or even the dethatcher.
Love the news update!!!! Congratulations on the new mower !!! I hope it checks all the boxes you were wanting in a mower and then some. Feel free to reach out with questions comments or concerns. Congratulations again Mark!!!
Dwayne, wonder why they did not put the Grass Shield Extender with the fins on it? Does this mower have the same issue with throwing of the grass that the original trimmers have without the extender?
Hey Jimmy, at first i was worried about that. Hopefully it came out in video but mostly all the clipping went into the catcher and not on top of it. When thinking about it, the fins are more so to throw the clippings in a more central area in the basket vs clipping just going in. The classic cal trimmer issue was that the grass shield was too short and did not come forward enough which is where the extender accessory made such a difference. It’s something i can mention in future video and advise if i do see and major issues or complaints.
Never been this excited to see someone mow grass. All jokes aside thanks for the in depth breakdown on the morning.
Thank you Sir!!! I was excited and nervous all at the same time. lol . I appreciate all the great support 👍🏻
Sure am enjoying these Catalyst videos. Keep it up 🤙
Thank you !!! I appreciate your support and more to come 👍🏻

I can see your point. In cases where Bermuda is cut to high it does look leggy. I do appreciate the feedback and appreciate the support!!!

Can you adjust the throttle to full pull but only half rate? Reason is it'd be easier to hold the bar all the way vs feathering it.

I wonder how long it will take to find one of these on Facebook Marketplace 😂 Great explanation on everything Catalyst!

Already sold mine on marketplace lol
Well there you go. Lol. 1st used catalyst sold. 👍🏻
It’s going to take time to fine tune the mower , and to get it into sync with the mower
Great point. Always a learning curve with new equipment 👍🏻

All good guesses. I guess we will have to wait and see if your theory is correct 🤔

Dwayne is the Mower loud like Tru Cut ?
Trucut is louder for sure.
