That edger is in excellent shape for being is old as it is (based on the engine model) I love my Trail Mate walk behind edger. It is 38 years old and trims like I used scissors on the edge. I see blade experimentation. in your future. I know I have experimented with all kinds of blades but have returned to the simple rectangular shape with 4 sharpened edges so that the blade is reversable. The curves take a little finesse. I usually lift the rear wheels off of the ground so I can turn the edger easier. I also end up hitting the blade a little on the concrete creating a few sparks. I am going to check the belt however, after watching this video -Thanks!
I appreciate the comment and the advise. It definitely is in great shape for how old it is. No rust and and unit Looks more like 2 years old vs 10-20 years old. 👍🏻
Great video I have a Mclane edger that is about 30 years old. When it come to turns you should tip the edger up into the front left wheel and it will turn much smoother. It takes a little practice.
@@dwaynesworldlawn sure, I bought your exact edger not running, cleaned it up, tuned it up, it ran but still surged, smoothed out if I added a bit of choke, took carb off, replaced diaphragm, cleaned all ports, reassembled, and now it doesn’t start….will run starter fluid then die, thoughts or suggestions?
I am assuming you are using a new air cleaner? If not try that. I know you can clean the carb but this is why i prefer a replacement with a good aftermarket unit. Every time i tried to clean it would still surge.
@@dwaynesworldlawn I did put a new air cleaner when I did tune up, I ordered a replacement carb, but pick up tube is 8 inches too long, I had no idea when I got this edger, parts were unavailable, so I’ve replaced all gaskets, got pick up tube to stay in place long enough to reassemble, runs, but I think I’ve got choke linkage in the wrong hole, bought new throttle cable, also much too long, about ready to throw my hands up and find small engine repair shop, then sell edger

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate the support 👍🏻
If you put front wheels together towards blade it takes curves much easier
Great tip!!! Appreciate it

Would Star Edger Blade work better?
Never tried it. I prefer oem as the one installed worked out great. I appreciate the comment and question 👍🏻
