RollerCoaster Tycoon || Park Showcase: Starland by Marc Racordon (TBC)
After a lengthy search online, I've finally managed to find one of my favourite ever parks; Starland. I used to spend hours looking at this park in my childhood, and was so happy I managed to find it again! Believe the original creator goes by the username Marc Racordon, but if anyone can confirm this or otherwise, please let
me know!
Hope you enjoy this brief trip down nostalgia lane with me!
As a temporary measure I have uploaded the .sv4 file to Google Drive:

    Sometimes I wish OpenRCT would let you switch to the old style of supports. It's easy to remove unwanted supports these days to create gaps where you want them; and sometimes the checkerboard pattern of which pieces get a support can mess with the symmetry a bit.

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation 16 дней назад

      @@SendyTheEndless I would absolutely love that too actually. I'm not sure if it's in the works of how difficult it might be to implement. I think for some taller coasters like hyper every second tile makes sense, but smaller looping coasters for example I think look a bit 'light' support wise

    • @SendyTheEndless
      @SendyTheEndless 16 дней назад

      @@MickanMansRCTStation I once asked if the tile inspector could be used to enforce supports or lack of supports on a per-tile basis and the answer was no, not possible, but I don't see why an option in the park format couldn't let you switch between RCT1 and RCT2 styles globally. Then, I'm not a programmer.

    What annoys me about this coaster type is that a lot of the really old coasters can take steep hills, they just have a person in the back of the train manually breaking during the ride to control the speed while in rct this coaster type doesn't allow for that or for steep hills.

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation 24 дня назад

      Yeah I get where you're coming from. As long as you don't mind using a combination of cheats and the ride vehicle editor in OpenRCT2, there should be a way of getting past the steep hill issue. The person braking is probably quite tricky to implement too - having said that the addition of the alpine coaster recently does this, so maybe in the future something similar could on the cards? Thanks for stopping by!

    Great video! Timelapse speed is totally fine. A few highlights for me this time: - The little plazas and alcoves you're making for the food stands are top notch. Isolating them, highlighting the stand, and providing seating are all really nice moves to give those areas some significance rather than just sitting along a path. I could learn something there. - Love that you go back and adjust rides after. Like extending the Arrow to what feels like a much more complete layout or opening the monorail as a shuttle. It's a smart way to realize the benefits of the ride while still planning for the future. - Great choice on the location of the skyride. Makes good use of those two peaks. Very much looking forward to the next one!

    Thought maybe I should comment: I commented on one of Brian's videos saying that the 6x speed made me feel a little sick. I think it's different in your case. Since Brian's recordings are from streams, he moves the view around a lot while he talks to chat, probably talking about what he wants to put where. Slowing down to 4x speed in his case made it a lot easier to watch. I don't have that issue with your videos though, and I was surprised you said it was 6x. I think it's just because you keep the camera a lot steadier overall.

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation 26 дней назад

      That makes sense. Yeah anywhere from 6x-8x. Usually for coaster builds where I move the screen a bit more I slow it down, but for landscaping/scenery where I'm not panning around as much it's 8x. I appreciate your thoughts on this and I will keep this in mind!

    I think you've got a good speed for the timelapse. It's fast enough I don't get bored, but not so fast the video ends too fast. Also, the commentary mostly manages to keep pace with the footage, which I think matters more than the exact speed. Also, the park is looking great. @MickanMansRCTStation 27 дней назад

      Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I sometimes do struggle to 'catch up' the commentary to the actual build, possibly because I spend too long giving a 'recap' of the previous episodes events. I could consider removing this or just doing a quick 'real time recap' - not sure what your thoughts are on this. As for the live streaming, I'm not totally sure about it as I'm probably not too good at explaining my thought process/describing a build whilst actually doing it, so it's not something I've ever seen myself doing to be honest. Having said that I am always open to trying something new so I will have a think about it!

    The vertical and classic mini aren’t the only ones with the small steep pieces, all the wild mouse coaster types have them as well.

      This is true - what I meant to state in the video is that I believe it's only the vertical and classic mini's have the flat to steep and steep to flat pieces available as diagonal elements, not just along the grid (like the wild mouse coaster types). Good catch!

    Great looking park so far. Big fan of both mini coasters at the front and the Schwarzkopf turned out fantastic. You're really nailing the garden vibe in a more dense form and making the rides feel super integrated into the space. Looking forward to the next episode.

    I cant seem to get this scenario won. My biggest problem is i think too much about the coasters and they always end up too fast. I think you did a tips video on coasters but maybe you could do a tips video about the speed variations?

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation 2 месяца назад

      It can be so tricky with speed management! A tips video on speed variation is an interesting thought - do you mean how to manage speed across a coaster? I'm not sure I completely follow. I would say in general, reducing the size of your lift hill will ensure that your coaster doesn't gain too much speed. With Barony Bridge it's not a bad idea to utilise a couple of the small pre-built coasters for the wild mouse and/or Virginia reel either, that can help as they are relatively cheap, but also add to the pier/beachside feel of the park!

    So happy to see the return of this series. And on something as frequently attempted as a Schwarzkopf Wildcat. I was completely unaware of the classic mini being able to do flat to steep on the diagonals, that is so useful for making diagonal sections more interesting! Also, it's seems as though you are using an old version of the Ride Vehicle Editor plugin. You'd normally be able to synchronize your changes between all vehicles without having to do so manually for each.

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation 2 месяца назад

      It's such a useful track piece! I also feel they look a bit less 'harsh' on diagonals as the elements are stretched over a bit more space, so I'm a big fan of them in general on diagonals! I most likely do have an older version of the plugin, I recorded this build near the end of 2022 and I don't think I've updated the plugin since then, but thanks for making me aware, I'll definitely get myself the updated version!

    My favorite scenario! As a kid, this place was magic, it was just so incredibly large with so many different things to see and find. Remember back in the day I played RCT on the 600x400 format on an old Windows, that made it feel even bigger and vaster. Nowadays it feels way smaller, but its still very nostalgic. You're doing a great job with this one, as you always do. Looking forward to the rest!
