Great video! I can't think of anything I do while the game is paused that you didn't mention. With proper abuse of the pause key (mine is q) you can build dozens of rides before March 2nd, year 1.
Thanks Marcel! Always happy to get your seal of approval! Yeah the pause shortcut key can really be used to the extreme - enjoyed seeing you push it to the limit in that challenge video!
It's nice to see my hometown get some detailed attention. I absolutely LIVE on the pause button haha! I basically do all these things while paused and spend the most time unpaused just building paths and queue lines. Ofc I play RCT Classic on mobile, so building paths is kinda a pain in the ass. Another excellent use of the pause button is to pause when a rainstorm is about to start up, place a bunch of extra information kiosks with different umbrella colors all set to the maximum $20 and then let the sales come in! Just as an aside, staff zones need to be reducible to single tile blue footprints instead of always the 4x4 preset grids because handymen will waste a ton of time getting off track in queue lines where guests really never puke or litter and are just generally a pain to section off effectively. Land purchasing could definitely use a multi-tile function like digging and staff sectioning tho! Great video--good work!
Thanks very much! You mentioned your hometown - was that near one of the park recreations in the video? Good call on the umbrella trick! On your note re the single tile footprints, OpenRCT2 just introduced a feature which allows exactly this, as with the land purchasing with more than 1 tile!
1:35 bwahahaha "I'm not talking about any dingy slide in particular..." I feel your pain being haunted by that White Water Park slide! I did find increasing the chain lift speed to the max made it fast enough, plus it boosted the stats so I could charge more :D I used to hate that park, but I really grew on me as the given rides are really cool, and it's an overall gorgeous park with all those cypress trees. It also has a ton of ride selection once all the research comes in--16 roller coasters if I'm not mistaken!
Hahahah! Glad you noticed my passive aggressive comment there! Yeah I've had mixed feelings on that park too - but like you mentioned the cypress trees really make it feel different than the other base game scenarios! I also didn't realise it had so many coaster options!
Weirdly I've never used the pause shortcut key while playing RCT. Maybe I should get more used to that! Although I don't do much scenario play these days, I enjoyed seeing this rundown-- great info especially for people looking to up their scenario game while still fitting into time limits.
Yes indeed! I got it a few months ago and I think it's much nicer, glad you like the sound of it! My headset mic really wasn't the greatest, although it was serviceable. Thanks so much!
Another good video! I always get excited to see new RCT content pop up in my sub feed. It's good to consider this since people might have a tendency to steamroll through the game, but this way you literally stop to smell the roses! (if you're decorating, that is...)
Thanks very much! Haha yeah I'd agree - and also unknowingly spend a lot of 'scenario time' on things that don't actually help achieve the objective (eg. picking colour schemes, naming rides)
I have only been playing OpenRCT lately, and I use the ride name trick frequently. However I noticed that if you stay paused (too long I guess?) that the game doesn't save the name, so you have to unpause right after you gave the ride a name for it to register. Also, I might be dead wrong here but I remember something like this (might be in another game, correct me if I am wrong). Isn't is possible to delete rides when you're paused? Only for the rides to actually disappear when you unpause? So you can delete everything in your park in one swift motion of unpausing? Again, I vaguely remember something like this but it might be a different game.
You're 100% right re the pausing too long and the new name not registering, it's definitely noticeable on RCT Deluxe aswell. I don't think that's possible as far as I can tell, I usually get the message that 'Rides can't be deleted while the game is paused'. You might indeed be thinking of another game there
It was a shock to me when I noticed it! Basically what happened was I removed the mechanics from the park during an experiment, it had a station brakes failure, and so the trains kept looping the circuit until one of the full trains eventually caught up with an empty train, and it just so happened that this section was where they stacked up!
I've never tried to set that up myself, but that would be great as it is quite a common 'pause' shortcut. Perhaps it would cause issues when trying to use spacebar when naming rides/stalls/staff? But then again wouldn't every letter/number? Not sure. Who knows, maybe that's something that will be changed in OpenRCT2 later down the track
Most important thing you can do when the game is paused: Click the ducks.
Yes! I can't believe I forgot to mention this!
Hmmm now i am gonna try to pop a balloon in pause

Thanks Brian! It can certainly save some building time - I hardly ever used it until recently. Glad you think it might come in useful for some!
wow, new mic, sounds really good! Keep the awesome work, love your videos

1:24 I didn't know this could happen with Arachnophobia

*me pausing every single second*
*beating the objective year one* "oh"
I never ever paused the game. There is moooore than enough time😂 most of the scenarios are already "completed" after 50% of the time
Totally understandable, especially for some of the RCT/RCT2 base game scenarios!
👍
:)
Kinda annoyed it wont let me bind the spacebar as the pause button for some reason
I've never tried to set that up myself, but that would be great as it is quite a common 'pause' shortcut. Perhaps it would cause issues when trying to use spacebar when naming rides/stalls/staff? @@MickanMansRCTStation maybe its because there is no symbol for space
If its p then its "p" right....but if its space bar then its just " " ya know
ah yes, possibly!
