Hello,
My name is David and I launched this RUclips Channel in 2023. I took an early retirement at the end of 2020 and begin getting serious about my woodworking and restorations. In the beginning, most of my work had been for personal use, family and friends. I started taking commissions in late 2021 and started as an actual business in 2023. This is my passion and I'm very lucky that I have the support to spend the time I do in the shop. Hopefully this channel and my videos will keep you entertained and I would be grateful if you subscribe and join me on this journey.

Antique Coat/Bookbag Rack Restoration
Просмотров 37221 час назад
I bought this at auction this summer for $6. Really cool old coat/book satchel or book bag rack from a primary grade school. Not sure the age, but I'm guessing 1950's or earlier. Just cleaned it up gave it some paint and finish and now it's a hat rack for my son's hat collection. Thanks for coming along! #antiquerestoration #oldschool #restoringschoolitems #coatrack #bookbagrackrestoration
Mail Call with Some Awesome Items!

Here's a great mail haul video from my brother George at @Uwannawatch George is an awesome guy and very generous with the entire tool collector/restoration community. Check his channel out! He sent me two incredible finds. A Blackhawk ratchet/socket set box stuffed full of Blackhawk sockets and I was able to add the majority of them to my tool board. Also was a stunning Fleet Tools ratchet/sock...

Proto Adjustable Wrench Restoration

I little bit of goofiness in this one! Also an update on the drill press restoration. This is an awesome wrench I found buried in a booth at an antique store, made an offer and they took it. Will proudly hang on my tool wall for sure. Hope you enjoy! #toolrestoration #prototools #wrench #wrenchrestoration #protorestoration #oldtools #oldtoolrestoration
Part 2 1960's Craftsman Drill Press Restoration
Просмотров 7642 месяца назад
I got this at an estate sale was just going to set it up and use it. Then I decided to take it all apart because the quill had no tension and would not auto return. I still haven't figured that out completely, but I will. This is part 2, the rest of the restoration or cleanup, reassembly and testing. Thanks for watching! #craftsmantools #drillpress #toolrestoration #machinerestoration #restorat...

How do you like my AI thumbnail? Just playing around and trying to learn some new stuff! This is part one of my drill press restoration. I didn't mean to go as deep into this as I did. I still haven't figured that out completely, but ...
Watch what I do to my shop!

I've had this idea for a few years and have been terrible about putting things on the wall for display in my shop. Just had these old blank walls forever and got tired of it. I also have some ideas for storage for the tools I use on a regular basis, down the road. I used 3/8" barn wood and nailed it to the wall with 1-1/4" 16ga braid nails. I hit the studs on 90% of the boards so these stuff is...
A Classic Blackhawk Tool Chest Resto
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.3 месяца назад
Welcome back for another tool chest cleanup/restoration. I picked this Blackhawk box up at auction for only $14. I was prepared to pay a lot more, luckily the other buyers just didn't show up! I have an ever growing collection of Blackhawk Tools and I thought this would be a great place to keep some. Enjoy the video, thank you for coming. #toolbox #toolboxrestoration #blackhawktool #craftsmanto...
Garden Bench Refresh. Gave me more trouble than expected!
Просмотров 7393 месяца назад
This week's project is an old garden bench. A neighbor asked if I would refresh this bench for her. It's old and needed a lot! All of the wood was rotten and needed replacing. The end brackets are cast iron and not cast aluminum like the newer versions. It was her mothers and she has made a memory garden in her yard and it was fitting to freshen up the bench and place it in the garden. She pick...
Craftsman Tool Chest Full Restoration
Просмотров 48 тыс.3 месяца назад
This is another project that I had to stop in the middle and put off for a few months due to some hand surgery. I found this box at an online estate sale auction, it came packed full of the 60’s and 70’s vintage Craftsman Tools. I really wanted to save the paint, but drawers were pretty rough and I knew if I had to repaint them, the box needed it as well. It is a well made, really nice box now ...
Snap-On Tool Kit 9/32" Show and Tell
Просмотров 6394 месяца назад
I found this in a lot with other tools last year at an estate sale auction. I'm not a collector of Snap-On tools, so I just put it off to the side for a long time. Cleaning some stuff up the other day I ran across it and did some digging. This is a really cool 9/32" drive kit from the 1930's and I believe the M70 flat ratchet makes it more rare, but don't really know. Not restoring or do anythi...
Workbench Refresh - How to maintain

A short video on cleaning up and maintaining my wood worker’s bench. In the past I’ve used BRIWAX as a finish, but it just doesn’t last long. So I thought I would try a new finish, a hard oil wax. Hope you enjoy the video. Disclaimer: By clicking on this video, you acknowledge you have read and understand the following statements. This video is intended for entertainment purposes only. Herbrand Ratchet Restoration. Saved from a Rust Bucket!
Просмотров 7324 месяца назад
I found these two Herbrand ratchets a few weeks back at an estate sale. Both are from the same era, but not exactly alike. I’m guessing 40’s to mid-50’s? One looked pretty good, the other not so much. I did the best I could to clean them up and give them a shine. Both are in perfect working order now. Had a little fun with the paint. I really enjoy bringing these vintage tools back to life. Not...
Revival of an Eagle Gas Can
Просмотров 4494 месяца назад
Thanks for watching! I bought 4 gas cans at an estate sale as a lot for $4.50. The two Eagles in the video and 2 more a little newer, but still vintage, that are 2-gallon cans. I just wiped them down and put them on FB Marketplace. I don’t know the age of these, but guessing at least 50 years old. Had some fun cleaning them up. I have more Petroliana items to clean up for display and will event...

You mention you answer all comments. This got me thinking. What is the meaning of life? Merry 4th day of Christmas! Happy New Year as well!
I have heavy pitting in bottom would you Bondo it or just primer it and it should fill it
What kind of paint and primer did you use. I love the red
Great video, David. You had a fun and interesting year.
You had a busy year! Here's to a great 2025!
Subscribed late in the year and watched quite a few of your earlier projects when I had time. I enjoyed this video, getting to see what other stuff you were up to. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and hope 2025 is great!
Thanks Kevin, appreciate the support! Glad you enjoyed the video and Happy New Year to you!
You had so many great projects this past year. I can't wait to see what 2025 brings.
Thanks for the support Ryan, I’m really excited about 2025!
Merry Christmas and happy new year like the video and the bloopers thank you for you're advice and talking with you
Merry Christmas to you as well Jeffery, I appreciate the support and hope you have a Happy New Year.
David I love your channel! Thanks for sharing with us. And thank goodness for audio and video editors! 😁 If you need lessons in how to talk country, don't let Vic teach you - come over this way and you can learn to 'tawk lak a Okie'. 😆
LOL, thanks so much Bill. I only saved bloopers from a few videos, I think I will try and get more for next year, trust me, there are so many!! Appreciate the support this past year and I hope you have a Happy New Year.
What a year Fred G! Where are you from? 🤣🤣 Here's to 2025!!!🍻
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support you've given me this year, cheers to you my brother!
Great year! Great video! Bloopers were great as well. I just wished you talked more country. You may need to come here and I'll teach ya 😂

I'm new to your channel this year. You are very talented and I look forward to seeing your videos. Looking forward to see what you do in 2025! 🎉📽👏🇺🇲
Thank you Roger, really appreciate the comments and the sub!
Great year end review video, you got a lot accomplished. Nice peek into your private life. Glad you got to spread your Dad's ashes at the Golf course. My friend's Pug has the same problem as Oscar. Gotta do the shots and he is almost completely blind. Glad to see he is doing well though. The bloopers are a great idea to show people that making a video is difficult. Great Video, Happy New Year and thanks for the great videos.
Thank you Mike, appreciate your support this past year. We were thinking about getting surgery on his eyes, but having to put drops in up to 9 times per day, just won't work, he is way to resistant! Happy New Year.
Awesome recap of the year!!
Thanks Web, appreciate your support this past year, you are one of my most loyal followers!
Love your videos. This one is one of my favorites.
Well thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it. Happy New Year!
Thanks for all your effort in making your videos. I don’t miss a single one. Always informative and I always learn something new. Thank you. Richard SA
Thanks Richard, I'm really glad you enjoy the videos. Somedays it tough to turn that camera on, but knowing guys like you are waiting on another is all the motivation I need!
Very well said. I'm away from wifi at time and will miss on occasion but I'm a fan
Hi David! It's been a pleasure making your 'acquaintance' this year! Really enjoy your content. All the best for you and your family in 2025.
Thanks Matt, I have enjoyed getting to know you through your channel as well. Keep the vids coming brother. Happy New Year!
Awesome restoration my Man.. Btw, how many man hours would you estimate that restore took?
Thank you very much! I really didn't keep up with the hours on this one, I worked on it for awhile and had to put it away for 3-4 months so I lost track of time.
Really enjoying your videos! I've just bought an old Gedore Adjutant to refresh... It'll definitely need a repaint. Little did I know, we appear to be in the midst of a global shortage of hammer finish paint?! Very little available in North America, so I have some hammer finish paint coming from Australia (Dulux MetalShield brand). Do any of your vids cover painting with hammer finish paints? Any tips or tricks? Thanks!
Hi Duncan and thanks for the view and great comment. I had no idea there was a shortage of hammered paint! I don't use it that often. In this video I did use hammered paint and had a pretty good outcome, check it out ruclips.net/video/R8pOOW5SsCg/видео.html I don't remember doing anything special for prep, just followed my usual procedure.
Nice restoration David. I liked your repair of the rails. Good to see the old Craftsman drill press in use. I'm working on restoring my 1941-42 Craftsman mohawk style drill press now.
Thank you as always for the kind comments. I like this one so much, I'm on the hunt for another one! Those mohawk style are so cool, never seen one for sale anywhere near me. Please send me some pics when you get it done! Take care Dave.
@@westhighlandsshop Will do, though it will not be up to the standard you have set.
Outstanding restoration
Thanks John, appreciate you watching the video.
I see George helping Santa out this year! 🎄🎄 Wow! Downright fabulous shop wall displays. 👍
Thanks Matt, yep George acts and looks like Santa! Such a generous guy. Merry Christmas.
nice job! I've got an old craftsman I've gotta clean up as well. Subscribed.
Thanks JD, appreciate the view, comment and sub! I have one more of these to do, but I just keep putting it off! LOL
I love everything about it! cleaned and preserved natural wood look with antique hooks...awesome! THAT was A LOT of work.
Thanks Matt, when I saw it, I had a vision and when I won it for 6 bucks I was over the top!
Great Project David!
Thanks Magdad!
Nice, very nice.
Thank you Nate, glad you enjoyed the video
I like how you patched the slots!
Thanks Web, it’s always fun making those type of repairs
Hey Fred G! That is a fantastic hat rack. I like how the hats are layered and you can see them instead of just being stacked on top of each other. . I'm gonna have to pinch this idea for my house.
Thank ya brother. I liked the way it came out and keeps all those hats in one place!
Love the fact that I guys trade shipments. So cool. But the wall mounted display boards are my fave. Just gorgeous.
Hey Dave Great videos. I have a vintage SK 2 drawer & top lid. I am missing the SK logo. Do you have any idea where I might find one? Happy Holidays 🍷
Thanks for watching. There are a couple guys on eBay, Sticker_Z or Jimenginedecal they might be able to help, both have quality products. Hope that helps and happy Holidays to you as well.
That's an awesome rack! Nice job!
Thanks Kurt!
A great restoration and repurposing, thanks for sharing with us.
Thank you Stephen, glad you enjoyed the video!
That turned out super cool. Great job David
Thank you Tammy, always glad you stopped by!
Very nice, cane out great. Would hold shop aprons and things .
Thank you! I thought about keeping for the shop, but my son claimed it first! Thanks for watching.
Another fine job you have done. very good vision to see what it could become. I may have walked by it in the wild, and I would have missed out. Great find and Restoration.
Thanks Dale, and I got it for a steal too! Appreciate you being here.
Beautiful job restoring the old coat rack, it really turned out nicely. I could use one of them for my hat collection too, what a great idea! Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!
Thanks for watching Jeffrey and Merry Christmas to you too.
im glad you didnt replace the wood. its a cool piece I'd put it up in my house. Merry Christmas to you and yours . Thanks Dave
I thought the wood rods were what really gave this the "look"! Always appreciate you being here!
Very nice. I said to myself that make a great hat rack... and I was right.. fantastic Mr. Dave!!
LOL. Thanks Vic, it worked out nicely.
Looks beautiful now. My school had a coat room, a long room adjacent to the classroom where you would walk in one door hang your coat and walk out another door. 😂👍
Thanks John! I just remember them lining the hallways at my school.
That is really cool. ( I came across something like that which I believe came out of an old bus or train car......Gave it to a friend and she sold it ) Your project looks really cool. Classy
Thanks! I was pretty happy that I was able to salvage it. Appreciate you watching.
Turned out great. Like that you didn’t replace the wood. Rich SA
Thanks Richard, always appreciate the SA guy here!
Nicely done Dave.
Thank you Ivan, appreciate your support.
Very cool piece David - well done. I love the fact that it is used for a hat collection!
Good job, came out nice! That rack reminders me of grade school.
Thanks Rodney, yep me too. The younger generation just doesn't understand!
Guess some folks would call that an oddity. I prefer to call it a treasure. I imagine that old oak soaked up its share of the three r’s over many decades. Lovely restoration. And Merry Christmas!
Thanks Guy, appreciate the comments. I thought it was super cool how the rods were bowed from so much use!
Very interesting project. I love the way it turned out. I'm curious what large rasp or file you were using, and I need to see up close of the coolest can opener on youtube.
Thanks Ryan. Technically not sure the name of the rasp, I've had it for years, probably picked it up at an estate sale. It might be a farrier's rasp, I use it all the time.
@westhighlandsshop thought it looked like a farrier's rasp.
Very nice😊
Thank you Rob!
Good job, David!
Awesome glad you enjoyed it.
