When I think of old school ratchets.....New Britain, Blackhawk, SK are my favorites. I really like the thumb ring or whatever it is called. It looks really good now.
@@westhighlandsshop , what I need to do is talk you into getting the upgraded 80 tooth rebuild kit that would give your ratchet a whole new outlook on life. Because I would not want your friends or family laughing at you just because you have that original center the ratchet was sold with. Thanks Magdad. I was really surprised I found the second spring and pin/cap. So tiny and blended in well with the colors of the concrete floor. Jeez, gotta be more careful! Thanks for the comment
Nice Mr. Dave! I'm not sure I'd hunted for 21 minutes..😮 but I know that feeling when that happens... glad you found the springs and man that thing cleaned up nice!!
David, I am still looking for little springs and things that have gone flying, Good job on finding them. The ratchet looks great and I now have an idea how you take apart that type of ratchet. Thanks for the interesting video and have a great week.
Appreciate the kind comments Dale, glad you got something out of this one! It's some older footage, prior to my camera being repaired for focus issues etc. I search the floor with very bright flashlights and magnets!
Great clean up! That thing is a beauty. I started using super lube back in the eighties, in ratchets. Hasn't gone rancid or harden up like other greases. But if it's a wall hanger 3 in 1 is a great idea. I was taking apart a Craftsman ratchet and the c ring went flying. Never did find it. Now it sits in a drawer waiting for a replacement ring. Glad you found the parts. Great work and video!🛠
Thanks for the great comment Mike. Most of my tools are now wall hangers and for the collection. My daily users are mostly the set I bought back in 1989, those get maintained a little differently. The 3in1 should be fine to keep them from corroding. Good luck finding the part for the Craftsman.

Thank you! I have a bunch of SK that maybe I'll get to one day.

Very nice David. Glad you were able to find those little parts. I have lost parts forever like that to be eaten by the garage floor monster. 😀
Thanks Bill, yes it can be a challenge!
Surprised there are so many little parts in a ratchet!!
Very interesting!!
I know! And when you are doing one for the first time you just never know what the inside is like! Thanks Web
