    Koh Samui has its vibe but no need to make it look like some sort of unimaginable paradise. Some areas are pretty basic. Bear in mind that the island is not as picturesque as those drone videos and photoshopped photos show. It's ok to go there and stay for a while. It depends on what the one appreciates. And make sure your wallet is packed with those banknotes. You'll need way more than you think. Watch out for those bike rentals. Last time I went there during the virus craze and I got a deluxe bungalow in a 5-star place for a mere thousand baht per night. Koh Phangan is way more picturesque.

    • @KristyandSteve
      @KristyandSteve 2 дня назад

      Its definitely got some beautiful areas thats for sure. Like most places all over the world, there are less appealing spots (obviously). We don't photoshop ANY of our footage. Lighting, angles and a bright sunny day play a huge part but zero photoshop - we dont even have the software 😂 Koh Phangan is STUNNING!!! We loved it there

      @@KristyandSteve Sure. I didn't mean you photoshopped anything but I meant the photos the one might find on the net. Your videos are genuine. I actually like the vibe there. May pay a visit. It's only a few hour drive from me.

    If you prioritized a budget-friendly transportation option or preferred air-conditioned travel, you could have simply headed straight to Ekkamai bus station. There, you'd find hourly departures of air-conditioned minivans to Hua Hin for just $6 each. Instead, opting for Grab taxis has likely cost you more than 500 baht and caused unnecessary frustration shuttling back and forth aimlessly. What a missed opportunity...

    Irn Bru (for accurate pronunciation try: "Eye-run Broo") has a distinct flavour which people assume is going to be like Cream Soda, or Orange, but is neither. (the colour confuses people when they can't identify the taste!) Try Indian Tonic Water mixed with a little Elderflower Cordial, (and IGNORE the colour or lack of it,) and you'll have the exact flavour of Irn Bru.

    If you want to get a smaller jar of Marmite, all you have to do is have a baby in a UK maternity hospital. When mother and baby leave the maternity hospital, they take away with them what's called a 'bounty box' which contains various useful samples for a new mother and child. I'm not sure why a miniature jar of Marmite is included, but it always is, (I presume it's a suggested foodstuff as an iron supplement!)

    Scones with jam and cream are delectable, though as far as I know clotted cream is a little difficult to come by outside of the UK. Despair not: if you develop a liking (or even an urge) for a cream tea, and clotted cream isn't available, a decent approximation in an emergency is mascarpone cheese - you'll be amazed at how much like clotted cream it tastes, when combined with scones and jam.

    The umbrellas are not free!! And the first row closest to the water costs more. We were told that the seats were 100 baht each and they lead us to the front row. When the bill came, in addition to the food and drink we were charged 200 baht per seat. When we said we were told 100 per seat, they said that’s for the seats behind the front row. The lesson to be learned is negotiate EVERYTHING in advance to avoid surprises when the bill comes.

    Full English always needs to be smothered in HP sauce. Keep the toast and / or fried bread until the end to mop up any left over sauce from the beans, runny egg yoke and HP sauce

    Totally agree that the north area (Mae Nam, Bo Phut) area is vastly superior to the Chaweng/Lamai area - unless you want party central chaos. There’s some fantastic on the beach restaurants around Mae Nam. We’re into our fifth day here, now moved to Choengmon, but should have stayed up around Mae Nam. Anyway we have hired a car for our stay - a total must to get the most out of a Samui holiday. Visited Lipa Noi yesterday, you can park at the end of that road right at the beach! Enjoyed your video, btw sounds like you both have Kiwi accents!?

      Agree, a car is an absolute must to get out and explore the rest of the island as it differs quite a lot from area to area. We have been told we sound British or American , never had kiwi though (which is bizarre as its the closest to our actual aussie accents 🤣) . Thank you for watching & taking the time to comment, we appreciate it 🥰

    Really good video. Thank you!!! Just wondering, what time were you allowed to board? Our accomodation check-out is 11am and the ferry departure is 6pm so we will have a few hours slumming it.

      Hello! I think it was about 90mins prior to departure time we could board - we also took the 6pm ferry. Its a nice, quiet terminal with lounges and chairs everywhere so you could just hang out there after checking out of your hotel. Enjoy & thanks for watching! ☺️

    Nobody in Britain calls it "Blood Pudding". Nor "Blood Sausage". It is BLACK Pudding.
