  • Innsbruck, Austria! Today we head to the Nordkette mountain range, only a few minutes from Innsbruck centre by bus. We took a cable car to the incredibly scenic Seegrube restaurant for lunch and continued on to the highest point by cable car, Hafelekar. By foot, we managed to reach the summit within about 15minutes. This was one of our favourite travel experiences from 2023 and was the introduction to our new-found love for snow and winter activities. Afterwards, we paid a visit to the Tirol Panorama Museum to check out the impressive 19th-century 360 degree painting, depicting the Battle of the Tyrolean liberation from 1809. We finish off the day for dinner at the popular Austrian restaurant, Stiftskeller, where we sampled some of Austrias delicious traditional dishes - Tiroler Gröstl, Wiener Schnitzel & Viennese Apfelstrudel.
We hope you enjoy the video! ~Kristy & Steve

Love to see that you found the Nordkette so scenic. It's even better in the spring and summer watching planes land at Innsbruck airport below you and snow still on the peaks. A little tip for future trips - always check to see i the city you are visiting offers a tourist card, they offer fantastic savings. In Innsbruck, you can get 24hr, 48hr, or 72hr card. The 48hr card costs €89 and for that you get unlimited public transport on buses and trams, free entry to some churches and museums (discounts at others), and a return trip on the whole of the Nordkettebahn (which combines the Hungarburgbahn, the Seegrubenbahn, and the Harfelekarbahn) from Congress to the summit. I normally purchase a 48hr card and rarely fail cover the cost on the first day.

Next time buy the Innsbruck card” for 24, 48 or 72 hours it is much cheaper and covers most admissions, bus, cable cars etc
