The revolution in 1989 december change our country for the first time in a democratic country , after monarhy & comunism. Send you hugs from Bucharest. It is a myth that the Romanian Revolution started in Timisoara, thanks to the Hungarian reverend Laszlo Tokes, a pastor of the Reformed (Calvinist) Church and part of the Hungarian ethnic minority"
The revolution started in Iasi, ON DECEMBER 14, and Tokes's courage is an invention, his attitude - it was related to Hungarian espionage.
When the solidarity rally with Pastor Tokes took place in Timișoara, the first arrests were already being made in Iași.
Laszlo Tokes was NOT the "pawn" of the revolution - a credit attributed to him by some of the undocumented "historians" in Romania.
One essential thing must be understood, namely that: the parishioners who supported him on
The intervention order, for the reverend's evacuation, was given by the Timişoara court following the request made by the Oradea Reformed Diocese, represented by Bishop Laszlo Papp, on September 16, 1989 - I mention that Tokes was notified on September 1, 1989 about the fact that his operating license was revoked and that he must leave the apartment-service residence occupied only by the priest who performs the religious service of the community-until September 15, 1989.
From the study of the documents it can be seen that the refusal to leave the parish was not new for Tokes. He, at the beginning of his activity in Braşov and Dej, following repeated disciplinary violations, was removed from the ranks of priests due to his refusal to be moved to another parish and for 25 months he lived without occupation.
The reason for his move from Timişoara to Sălaj is as trivial as possible: opposition to financial control - opposition that brought him a disciplinary move to another parish.
Host Arpad's testimony is essential to understand what Tokes was doing-trying to save his skin, by no means fighting against the communist regime in Romania-at the end of each week: "After refusing to move to Mineu, Tokes he no longer received a salary, but he still kept his job" - a normal thing since he had refused to move to another parish, a move he considered illegal. Practically, he showed insubordination to the higher structures of the Reformed Church.
Nicolae Mavru talks about the Tokes case in an interview given to Alex Mihai Stoenescu. Mavru, in December 1989, was a major and held the position of head of the Intelligence and Investigation Service of the Timiş County Security. This, on December 16, captures very well the moment when, at the pastor's house, a group of protesters "identified by a corded beret" formed who were responsible for forming the mass of support for the pastor: "they appeared and disappeared, not there were more than 10-15 people, but their disappearance was related to the attempt to mobilize the people of the city". From my point of view and from the documents and interviews studied, I came to the conclusion that this task, "to mobilize the population", was a total failure. In the first instance, those from the group with the "string beret" managed to gather an insignificant number of people (about 50), which shows the disinterest of the crowd towards Laszlo Tokes: "some citizens cursed him" those who urged them to be in solidarity with the pastor.
Making Laszlo Tokes a hero of the Romanian revolution is beyond the intellectual possibilities of the most talented fiction author.

Tökes might not have been a revolutionary, and his behavior in the years following the events of December '89 was shitty at best. Still, his refusal to leave and the protests it triggered, initially by just a few devoted parishioners, who were then joined first by hundreds and then by thousands of citizen who simply had enough, was indeed the trigger of the revolt in Timișoara. I know first hand. I was there, even if I'm a Romanian of Orthodox faith. Within a week, until December 22, tens of thousands of workers had joined the protests, and despite thousands of army and state security troops being sent to Timișoara, there was no going back. The army tried to move into the city center with tanks. You could hear shooting for hours, during the night. Nothing could stop the change. And it was all triggered by a seemingly insignificant protest started by a few protestant parishioners. Anybody saying something else is lying.
