I live flick my small rod around the shore of the mid east coast of Australia chasing a variety of sports fish.
I mostly use lures and might live bait if I ever figure out how to do it.
the goal of the channel is to be amusing and educational, my goal fishing is to amuse myself
I give locations, tips and offer my strategies to get onto fish which can be used anywhere, and you'll see in the comments
i mix it up between the yak and land based and will likely run some kayak fishing basics soon.

Kayak Big Bream || Brooklyn Kayak Comp - AFT R6
This is a bream fishing comp in Brooklyn NSW.
I pre frished an area quite far from the launch and thought it looked pretty good! however 6k's with sore legs wasnt looking like a good idea on the day.
I slowly worked my way to America bay but when I eventually got down there it didn't seem as promising as a week earlier.
There was a waterfall running fresh water into the little bay and bait was quite scarce on the flats.
I had all but given up and had planned crank edges the whole way home even if it took all day...
Then BOOM, onto a big bream on ultralight gear!
it was quite an exciting fight with the fish running into a rock, and pulling drag on structure.
I think I can 35th on the day.. but th...

Periodically I go on Raptor charters with friends which is always an awesome day. This short Video I snagged the first cast on the FAD which can normally be considered poor form. specs on the lure are 100mm slow sinking twitch bait, thrown on a PE 1 offshore set up.

they are lulu lemon trackies my partner got for me on a fire sale for abour $40. They are really nice sythetic but are not great for winter. Now I use decathlon leggings, OR if its really cold wetsuit pants

Do you think there are any squids at tom ugly's bridge? I've never seen anyone squiding there and I've been having no luck for multiple days :(
You need to move to find a patch of them, they move a lot and you normally find a bunch in one spot. I would generally not think an area with strong current rushing past is a would hold them so maybe a bridge like that is a bit too much for them.

That is when I was there. I think it is tidying up. I had heard from someone that they saw a spar bath floating down the river shortly after the extreme rain. When I was there it was just a few sticks

Nice channel mate! Just bought hobie sport recently to try offshore as well. Long reef sounds as a good start for me. Just need to wait for a little bit warmer days. What phone app do you use to see depths and reef map? Thanks.
If you are sub 90kg the sport will surely do in most conditions. I'm using navionics but cmaps is the other competitor.. I am not sure which is better but they can only be so wrong I guess!
@@cballzoutdoors Thanks mate! I have Lowrance HOOK2 with GPS plotter on board, so phone map would be a good reference to find a right direction. Yeah, I'm comfortable with Hobie Sport. Already tested it near the Bobbin Head Marina with a couple of 50cm flatheads. Maybe I will buy inflatable outriggers later to be more stable offshore, as this kayak is around 10 feet only, but it's wide enough. Thanks again! I let you know when I go, in case if you want to see first launch. :)

Do you ever take your Lynx offshore? How do you find it compares to your other kayak on the rivers?
I don't and Don't think I will. I calm water it is amazing, I can stand, move around and whatever. But when there is sharp waves like a wake from a boat, it tips a lot and can become unstable. The other kayak would be near impossible to tip but you can't stand or move around as much is all

It's just the weather. The combination of swell, wind and rain make it hard to line up good conditions with the weekend. I do want to get back out there to try snapper fishing but a weather window doesn't seem likely

That's it! They sit in or around kelp and rocks and the slow sinking lure means it floats in their face a bit longer.

My .stl modelled from scratch that I haven't released just yet.. quite a bit of extra work and tooling required to make it work so not sure if I could sell it and have people happy with the results
Hi Mr Ballz, Have you had any issues with the assist hooks on the 15g micro jigs? I saw a video where you could pull off the hooks by hand. I dont know if they were the same ones in your link.
I've never had an issue, but I imagine quality control could be an issue with cheaper jigs. I've heard bad things but never seen them myself. The other thing with heavier jigs, they can come with hooks more for demersal fishing and are way thinner than what would get used for trophy kings
@@cballzoutdoors thanks. I forgot to ask, is the telescopic net still going, ok. I like the idea of setting it to various lengths. If one was handy, you could make a gaff hook for it. Would you still recommend one?
@DexterPalagiano yes the net is still going strong. There is a bit of a method too it to lift big fish, and you can upgrade the net with something bigger or a gaff if you are so inclined. My only issue is I always forget it!

Not the making, just the fishing at the moment. I am making one at the moment to cover the 3d modelling, prototype failures and how to finish and wire them etc. But waiting on repair parts for my printer

It's a great strategy, but it's very much a cast and move technique 👌 that was maybe cast two out that way before the hit

Got some of these 7g jigs from a link on one of your older videos, no luck on them yet but I also haven’t really played around with them enough either. Great for the price.
I think they are honestly the best bang for buck lure. The other thing with them being so cheap, you'll throw them places that have lots of structure without fear, and that's where the fish hide!

another great content bro! I've been micro jigging around upper parra for the exact same reason recently. Caught lots lots of flathead, some tailor and the rare whiting and bream. Lost a big lizard and had a jew smoked me. It's very effective even in really shallow water.
Seems like a great technique year round if you don't have a boat! I also always resort to the jig if the bite is tough
