Living with stage four Prostate Cancer
Великобритания
Добавлен 23 дек 2021
Hi, my name is Woody, on Sept 15th 2021 I was given the news that I have Advanced Metastatic Prostate Cancer, words that no man wishes to hear,
At first I was completely lost and frightened without really knowing who to turn to.
These videos are my experience of living with Prostate Cancer. Of undergoing radiotherapy , hormone therapy and all the the strange side effects that go with it and the never ending hope that the incurable becomes curable.
The aim of this channel is hopefully to help people who are coming to terms with their own experiences of cancer.
If you like the videos feel free to subscribe to my channel and come and join me on this journey , where it goes is not written. I promise you it will be honest and as positive as I can make it.
Woody ❤️

Fighting stage four Advanced Metastatic Prostate Cancer - A visit to my oncologist
Hang in there sir! I've just started my journey with a PSA 30 and a Gleason score of 4+3. It has matastized out to my ribs. Started the hormone therapy and just finished the radiation theropy for that and starting the next round on my prostrate for the next 6 weeks. Keep fighting sir and know that fly fishing is a GREAT escape. On days I feel bad I tie flys and on good days I'm on the river (when not working) :) Yes, cancer SUCKS!
Woody, hang in there! You are an inspiration for me. Just now recovering from spinal surgery to remove prostate cancer tumors. I start IV chemo in two weeks which goes on for ten three week sessions. My goal is survival of course, but I have scheduled a cruise with my loving wife and caretaker to the British Isles in April. I think having a goal to look forward to and work hard for will help me survive. Stay strong and positive!
I have similar cancer and my wife is dead 22 years ago. I'm having a very hard time with it
I'm sorry to hear that William , do you have people to talk too, I'm always willing to have a chat to see if I can help in some way. ❤️🙏
You have a good positive outlook enjoy your life none of us are guaranteed tomorrow and you have life and are positive a great example to me.
I appreciate that thank you 🙏❤️
Hi Woody, I came across this video by Dr. John Campbell. You've probably heard of him in England. In this video he talks about some compelling evidence using Ivermectin. I'll post a link here. Let me know what you think. ruclips.net/video/DX0hqmgO7pQ/видео.html
Stay strong woody we are all with you Keith
Fenbendazole …..ivermectin……
Nope. Don’t work.
Thank you Woody, have you considered Tulsa Pro procedure ( minimal side effects ) just approved by the FDA Do you know if the UK 🇬🇧 has this procedure 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Ray 🫡🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸I am considering it………your in my prayers 🙏
Never heard of it but will do a bit of research and see what I can find. ❤️🙏
I'M ASKING GOD TO STAND BY YOUR SIDE .
Thank you 🙏❤️
Facing up and sharing our journey is inspirational and motivating, keep going brother 🙏
Thank you I will keep going 🙏❤️
Hi Woody you just popped up on my feed. I am now subscribed to your channel. I will keep you in my prayers. ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸
Thank you that's very kind 🙏❤️
Just had a birthday, another decade done and dusted, very weird huh!!! Yet in my mind I'm in my 20s somewhere. Both my Grandads died of prostate cancer wayyyyy back, so I'm thinking my odds of that getting me are kinda high, so far it hasn't as far as I'm aware. I do have HBP and some cardiac issues, so yeah, what with my age n all my mortality does weigh heavy on me quite often. Regarding getting out in nature, yeah I agree it's very therapeutic for me also, I think what it does is make me realise that I'm just a very small cog in a huge machine and that whether I'm alive or not, the other cogs will continue to turn, the leaves will still turn color in autumn, new buds will still break out from the branches in spring, the rain will still fall and the sun shine. Somehow my realization of my insignificance is comforting, one would think it would be the opposite, belittling my importance perhaps, but no. I've just subscribed so I'll be back to listen again Woody, all the best until the next installment mate.
We all connected somehow in this great big beautiful universe. Please ensure you keep getting regular PSA tests for prostate cancer as it's hereditary. Thank you for your beautiful comments take care 🙏❤️
Woody it seems that nature works for you and it’s proven that connection with it lifts the spirit. You are doing exactly the right action by getting off that settee and getting out there. You are showing all the same stoicism which Chris Hoy has displayed.
Wow did expect to be mentioned in the same breath as Chris Hoy 😊 Getting in from ork tonight the couch has beaten me but I'll be out for extra walks over the weekend 🙏❤️
Agree, keep active mentally and physically, the keeping active is the one and only thing the Doctors and Oncologists i have seen agree on, all have said the same from day one, Keep moving
Keep moving, even when you don't want to🙏❤️
Another great book is “Mind Power” by John Kehoe.
I love all things connected with the mind I believe I have around 70 books on my kindle about the mind it's all fascinating and important stuff to know. The mind is one of our worst enemies and most powerful allies, it just depends on how you use it. 🙏❤️
New biologics are promising. I have a friend who was cured of lung cancer via a biologics trial.
Sounds amazing , there are new discoveries in medicine all the time. 🙏❤️
I usually feel like crap when I start walking, but after many miles and heading back I’m always surprised how much better I feel and easier it becomes.
Yep, it's getting over that initial barrier. I often find that too 🙏❤️
Walk as well mate. Nature takes you out of your head. When i'm in nature, cancer does not exist, i feel normal. Cheers Woody. Keep on keeping on.
I agree, when I'm focusing on a cloud or a tree or a beautiful bird singing it's heart out cancer disappears for a while.🙏❤️
Thanks! Me: Stage 4, 3 years in. Can't walk. Find my joy where, when and how I can. Yes, I can find it.
I'm sorry you can't walk, but you can go anywhere in the world you want when you close your eyes and have a little bit of imagination, good luck on your travels in the mind 🙏❤️
Thanks for your videos mate They certainly help me ..
Thanks Gary 🙏❤️
Woody,I have little to say in response today…feel grateful for the opportunity to listen to you…thanks bud😊
Thank you for your kind support 🙏❤️
I can confirm exercise works wonders and can change your state of mind. In some extreme cases I'll go out and ride a bike 15 miles, then walk 5 miles and come back. After 20 miles you'll come back with a feeling of near euphoria. One day I did 28 miles in 5 hours. Really remarkable.
Wow that's inspirational 🙏❤️
I look forward to your videos, Woody. I know what you mean by the weekend letdown. Work routines are a good distraction. Anyway, you’re a good guy with a good message. I really hope the radiotherapy knocks it out. Meantime you’re living life and spreading goodwill, and you deserve a lot of credit for that. See you next Saturday.
Thank you 🙏❤️
Sir why your psa level raise too 3 too 6 after radio therepy did you ever seen any kind of situation in other patients and what's your next treatment because your cancer is active it will keep spreading all around the body what's your oncologist opinion about that?????hope everything will be fine
The PSA can fluctuate during the radiotherapy and after according to my oncologist.🙏❤️
@@Livingwith-prostatecancer sir today my grandmother died I love her the most and my father is facing prostate cancer life is not at all easy for me I wish that I can died first before my father
For quite some time, I've been practicing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and its helped through those bad days and dark thoughts. I'm not even sure I can blame the Prostate Cancer for these feelings and thoughts but I'm trying to deal with the reality of who and where I am. I admire the older members of Church who've been through so many challenges and they give me courage and hope. As always, thanks for posting. Keep moving and best wishes.
It sounds strange but the feeling and thoughts you have are not caused by the prostate cancer it's how we chose to deal with it that makes the experience. If it was the prostate cancer causing those thoughts and feelings it would mean it would be the same for all of us. It's hard to get your head around this but when you see it then it can change so much, I hope that makes some sense.🙏❤️
@@Livingwith-prostatecancer Thanks Woody
Thanks woody
Don’t feel bad. I am missing the general gene that suppresses general tumors and I am still here in late middle age. It’s amazing what’s possible. Genes are only a tendency, not fate. And everyone should know that.
I keep a little quote from Sting in mind every now and then: "Life is an adventure an my response is to say "yes" to it.
I agree 🙏❤️
Cyber knife is supposed to be cutting edge and really good.
Yes let's hope it does the business 🙏❤️
Promising new biologics appear to be able to cure many cancers on the cellular level.
Yes there are some exciting new treatments on the horizon for cancer patients ❤️🙏
Your vids are full of wisdom. Love 'em.
Thank you Im glad you like them🙏❤️
There is also a book called Love Your Disease.
I think I have it on my kindle, not got around to reading it yet.🙏❤️
Keep on trucking. I can recommend the mind book “The Magic of Believing” by Claude Bristol. There is also a book called The Wisdom of The Body.
Walking 5-6 miles a day really improves the mind. If you can tolerate the pain take up light cycling too and work up to longer distances. It really increases health. Walking 5 miles a day has also shown to bring down A1C in 3 months, which helps since blood sugar has been linked to cancer. Too much sitting is also a negative risk factor. Keep active daily always.
I aim to start walking a bit more once the fatigue of the radiotherapy wears off, I'm working full time so most evenings I come home exhausted ❤️🙏
Read the book Cancer as a Metabolic Disease.
I have a feeling that twenty years from now you’ll be giving us words of wisdom. Hang in there, Woody.
Now that would be good news 🙏❤️
Thanks for sharing this. I start my Radiotherapy in 10 days and some of your thoughts and ideas have helped my preparation for any side effects that come along. Very best of luck in the future and stay strong.💪
You too, and best wishes with your treatment hope it goes well❤️🙏
As always Woody, thanks for sharing your ongoing journey with a kind and positive spirit. Its a big help to me. Mind yourself, keep laughing , god bless Phil.
You are very welcome Phil 🙏❤️
You’re correct…survival is what it is all about brother…proud of you.
Absolutely, the alternative doesn't bear thinking about ❤️🙏
I've been having a problem with bleeding and just found out its not just proctitis but diverticulitis also. I've cut down on meat and increased veggies and bran cereal and it seems to be working for me. I'm hopeful its all going well but will know more at the next blood test. I know a little of what you're talking about and hope my resilience won't be tested any more than it has. Best wishes to you.
Yeh I've got issues with bleeding and some rectum tears😭 which are extremely painful but getting slightly better , I think 🙏❤️
12 years ago, after 32 sessions of radiation to the prostate bed after a radical prostetectomy, i had severe pain in the bowel and bladder. I think it might have lasted a week after the final session. Hang in Woody, it will get better. Thanks giving weekend here in Canada, and just saw my docs, and they both said things are looking good after my second time around of treatments for a lymph node metastisis. Feeling grateful. Hang in my friend. Regards Carl.
Hope you had a nice thanks giving ❤️🙏
@@Livingwith-prostatecancerCheers mate. Great time with family.
Hi Woody I found the slight discomfort and urgency lasted about 3 weeks after 20 Radiotherapy treatments, nearly 3 years on and testosterone recovered back to normal level of 20 and Psa now 0.58 I am 6 months blood test with my Doctors. Good luck hope all pans out for you Woody and all the other people that follow your journey.
Thank you 🙏❤️
If your side effect is Proctitis, for me it subsided after 3-4 weeks, albeit my insides never functioned quite the same again. Felt compelled to write as find your positive outlook helps me so much. I'd offer back to you, advice you've kindly given out - whether things are good are bad, this current time shall pass. Good luck !
It's called an anal fissure, not very pleasant but only painful when I'm emptying my bowels. It's like shitting broken glass 😭 not to to be too blunt about it. I sincerely hope it goes away 🙏❤️
Looking good Woody, stay positive and look for the humour Phil
Believe me I'm trying to see the funny side of visiting the toilet 😀
I been reading Christopher Hitchens book Mortality this afternoon he talks about bad side effects and how much more can I take then you mention the same, weird , book only 2 hours on Audible , well worth it, Audible and ear pods been superb investment for me
Hi woody me and my husband watch your videos it help us my husband as stage 4 pc keep up the good work ❤️
Thank you , best wishes to your husband❤️🙏
It's good to see you have a positive attitude Woody, I can understand why you didn't ring the bell after RT, I didn't either. I told my wife that I'd go back in 5 years if I'm still cancer free, I felt like I was tempting fate. I just got the results of my first PSA test 6 months after the RT ended, it was 0.030, nothing for me to celebrate, if my PSA is good in 5 years then I'll celebrate. That's the problem with PC, you're always waiting on a result which makes the whole thing a drag. I had a Gleason 7 (4+3) T3A and am almost one year into two years of hormone treatment. Had a scare Friday, knowing that ADT can cause strokes, woke up and found my face to be sagging on one side, couldn't close one eye and was dribbling when trying to drink, spent 6 hours in A&E, after tests it was found that I'm suffering from Bells Palsy thank God, they've given me steroids to take for 10 days.I have three older brothers that also have PC. One brother with Gleason 9 (spread to lymph nodes) is having problems with his waterworks, he's really struggling to pee. The hospital say's they cannot hold up the RT any longer and are fitting him with the dreaded catheter next week and he has no idea how long he'll be stuck with one. He's had problems for a few years down there, ideally he shoul'nt be having RT but he has been told that they can't remove his prostate. Another brother is just out of diappers after prostate removal and the eldest is having his prep scan for RT in a couple of weeks. Anyway, keep soldiering on Woody, you're an inspiration for many of us, I have a good feeling for you.
I agree, I rang the bell once but the cancer returned two years later. I will complete radiation again in four weeks, but will decline to ring the bell as its not over till its over. Ringing the bell is for the naive.
I'm sorry to hear that you have three brothers all with PC that must be tough for you all. You are in my thoughts 🙏❤️
@@Livingwith-prostatecancer look me up and drop me a line 2:19
Hang in there brother, I'm in the planning process for Radiation for my aggressive prostate cancer. I had Gleason score 9 and prostate surgery one year ago, and now a relapse. Your videos are very helpful to me, thanks a lot.
Thanks Dan, I hope it all goes well for you mate 🙏❤️
This is my fear too, I've read about so many instances where the PC has come back after a short time. At least you have RT as an option, good luck to you. PC can just drag you down, it really can.
Hi Woody. Hope the last session went well. You are so right about the power of the mind in helping all of us get through our cancer challenges. When I had my 29 radiation therapy sessions the machine was newly-installed and my cancer centre had also installed above it a beautiful illuminated ceiling montage of Canada geese in flight. I was only in the machine about 10 minutes at a time but it was always stressful to lie alone on a table while the machine did its work and think about how I landed myself in that predicament. I felt it very calming to focus on the photo and think about flocks of geese taking off from the lakes near where I live. Heart rate declined. Breathing was easier. The mind is as powerful as many drugs.
Hi Reid, the last session was the best for some reason, I think it may well be due to my mind and my thoughts making it easier. The mind is a very powerful tool for us.
Hang in there, Woody. I'm. Stage 2, 3+4. I was diagnosed in April and had my surgery in July. I pray that God brings you through. I also pray all treatments are effective. Take care, and thanks for sharing!!
Thank you very much ❤️🙏
Hi Woody, thank you for the videos, fellow traveller here. ADT will bring the numbers down in preparation for the radio therapy, but it's not considered curative as mono therapy. Radiation is though
