Should give the Fort Scott Munitions TUI (Tumble Upon Impact) rounds a try.
Your reviews are the best I've seen. Good job brother!!
I’ve shot 14 deer with the 95 grain 6mm SST. With it I’ve taken frontal shots, spine shots, quartering in and away, and broadside. Out of a 6mm Remington with 3,000fps muzzle velocity I’ve only recovered one bullet and it was from a broadside shot that shattered both shoulders and was recovered under the hide on the offside with 57grains retained weight. Water may not have painted this bullet in the most flattering light but deer sure do. I’ve used the 150 SST out of a 30-06 and a 130 out of a .270 and all of them have been pass throughs with phenomenal terminal performance inside the chest cavity. I really appreciate yalls testing and it’s excellent for some reason the SST just didn’t show today maybe try it some more before you write it off for good. Keep up the testing guys!
My Ruger American really likes the ELD-X, coming in at 1/4" at 100 yards. Fine tuning loads for a muley and bighorn hunt this fall.
Looked good. Didn’t see lots of recoil.. but I sure do feel it. 👍🏻
I wonder how fast you'll shoot your barrel out with proof research barrel hopefully she'll hold up for a while the 28 nosler is a burning out barrel machine but extremely accurate
Maybe? acceptable at 100 yards? Definitely a bullet made for the 22 creedmoor, 22 ARC, or 224 Valkyrie! I’ve used the 70 grain TSX in 5.56 on pronghorn out to about 150 yards. I would be more leery about energy at longer ranges in the 223 than perhaps expansion. I’m currently using the 62 grain TTSX in 223, but haven’t shot any game with it yet.
Great Job! My Browning Speed 26 barrel 7 RM performs similarly.
I’ve been using Berger 185 VLDH in a Cooper ‘06 for 300-500y shots with range finder and dial up. I’m going to try Nosler 180 partitions for shorter ranges on stag. I know they will hold together and likely print 1moa or less.
Threading of the barrel for 30$ (beer money) if you know the gunsmith 😉 about 100$ when i payed the full rate in a different store. two long days i waited. Nice rifle and scope. Cheers from Sweden 🍻
I run those in my 260 Rem. They just work
Excellent video sir, thank you.
The recoil mitigation from that brake on a 28 Nosler is very impressive. What a nice rig! I see many harvested critters in your future. Thanks for the vid.
I have had eight or nine of them. At the moment I have three. And I love them. Best bang for your buck. No doubt in my mind.
Please try 160 grs Speer grand slam in 28 nos
Great video you guys should do more on the 458 Socom like the Barnes ttsx 300 grain and the Hornady 325 grain FTX
I thought I got a steal when I bought a barreled receiver Model 670 for 80 dollars and geez has its been a headache lol.
I Would NEVER hunt with these.. But to each their own !
Hey Nicely done again !!!. I may have missed it , but is this a handload ?? I can't figure out why its so slow.. My 308win handloads will push these into 2700...
Hey Guys,,, great tesing these are indeed an amazing hunting bullet.. one thing I'd like to point out is that bullet manufacturers are FAMOUS for exaggerating bullet BC's especially on hunting bullets where the hunting type are far less likely to call them out on it.. Saying that , these bullet WILL not match an SMK for drops ect.. So re-check that data if your handloading
Great to see you back! Love your videos. Would love to see you guys do a video on Barnes TTSX .284 150 grain (I shoot that in my 7mm rem mag).
You mentioned not recommending eldx for Elk. Is there a 6.5 creed round that you would recommend for this application? Thanks very much, video was great and informative!
I came here looking for how this bullet would handle in a 300 Wby and I’m not thinking I would use it.
Hornady’s design leaves a lot to be desired. They could’ve made a much sleeker bullet. They made a much better design with the 150gr 30 cal, only losing .22 g1 bc with 15gr less bullet. Please test the 168gr TTSX. Barnes claims it opens at 1500 fps, so it should be closer to LRX than typical TTSX performance. I think it’s the best bullet in 30 cal for the non-magnums if that claim holds.
May I ask your opinion on how your build would go in the 7 PRC?
I probably will never buy a new rifle thats not a Tikka again you just cant beat them out the box for the price and besides the rem700 probably the most customizable rifle out there.....but ill still buy used rifles i love some old model 70s n rem 700s n abolts
Another great video , thanks.
Picking up a box of these to load in a buddy's AR10 (.308 16" barrel) for a fast and lightweight varmit option. Thanks for the data, im hoping to get at least 300 yard expansion from them.
I don't know my velocity but I worked up a load for a 21" Odin Works Upper with 30.1 grains of CFE 223, Fed SR AR match, virgin starline brass, getting ragged holes at 100 yds and tight groups beyond. Have not used it past 380 yards but sure seems promising. I did a load test up to 31.3 and primers, brass stated to get very slight flattening and marking but 30.1 grains were the best group with primers and brass looking great and see no reason to load hotter for my use anyway.
Water jugs make every bullet look good.
Truth
I bought 2 different calibers in the ELD bullets. For my 300 wby. X 178 gr and 200 gr M 195 gr For my 280AI rifle. X 162 gr and 175 gr M 162 gr and 180 gr. It has a 1@8 twist 26-inch barrel . A Browning Xbolt Hells Canyon Speed Long Range 280AI. Putting it together to go next spring, bear hunting. Haven't bought a scope yet. Ones I been looking at. Leupold VX5 HD 3x15x44mm wind plex 4x24x52mm TMOA VX6 3x18x44mm TMOA 3x18x50mmTMOA 4x24x52mm TMOA 3x18x50 TMOA Leica amplus 6 3x18x44mm Trijicon Tenmile 4x24x50mm Nightforce SHV 5x20x56mm Zeiss v4 4x16x44mm 6x24x50 mm. I'm am setting my limits. To shoot out to 500 or 600 yds. Any suggestions on a scope?
I'm not a fan of copper bullets. But I would like to try some of the 200 gr out of my 300 wby. I looked the only weight for my 280AI is 155 gr.
I think the 150 gr CX would be the go to in 308w
Using water jugs for ballistics tests is ghetto.
I own a T3x lite long in .308Win. Got it cut down to 16"/40cm with a M15x1 thread. I run a Eratac SOB3D Supressor on it. Greetings from Germany and Waidmannsheils
Wise choices from another from the house of David
Another great video and I really enjoy your videos and the way you do the layout, I have used this bullet in .270 and.308 👊🏻👊🏻🇺🇸
Man, very little seen recoil! Gotta have great ear protection. That rifle shoots. Velocity would have be good, but we all know its fast
That price is so worth it! Goes to show how much $ proof is making
2930 fps is still good speed even though it isn't a very fast load particularly from a 26 inch. barrel. The expansion is disappointing to say the least. Oftentimes accuracy isn't necessarily achieved with the fastest loads and one is better off sticking to moderate load at moderate speeds for caliber and case. A difference of 100 feet per second wouldn't really be enough to change much. Thank you, great test.
Excellent bullet at 30.06/308 velocities
I picked up some 190gr Impacts (great price) for my 300WM. Cant wait to load them. Love Speer bullets..the GS and HC are the toughest Cup and cores and a great price.
Great video... The 28 Nos speed is a great test for the ABLR. I really appreciate your videos on various bullets. especially when using the 300wm and 270wsm.
What a detailed video! It shows how much you love your Tikka. Im looking at the T3x in 7mm08 / .308 & stainless. 7mm08 ammo is a little bit in short supply. Plenty of .308 available. Question: did you do an after market 20 MOA picatanny rail to mount your Leupold? I like the idea of the additional space for scope mounting. Your choice of the 3-15x44 duplex Firedot is right on.
Was this velocity chronod with the 22 inch barrel?
I have one in 28 also I put pt&g Bottom metal on it with 300 rum AICs mags you can get more length without being a single feed I also went with the stockys stock Cheers
You'd have a hard time talking me out of the LRX for 28 nosler. You come up on something close range, no problem.
If your rifle shoots good without bedding , that is fine, but another reason for bedding is the repeatability of reassembly if you separate the stock from the receiver for any reason. Torquing your action screws will give you a good indication on whether you need to bed also, if they tighten up with a spongy feel as opposed to "hard stop", that would tell me to bed the action.
I almost bought the Savage Ultralight 280AI. I would have if the barrel would have been 24 inches long. 110 was a 1@9 twist. I ended up going with a Browning Xbolt long range 280AI. It's a 1@8 twist 26-inch barrel.
How many lbs does it weight in with the scope and tri? Great review!
