Great test! Fantastic bullet performance for the 7.62X39mm.
You have the best methodology I have seen for testing bullets, and set a new standard for sharing the results... well done.
Seriously
Thanks for watching!
I'd like to thank you from New Zealand. It's awesome to see expansion tests at realistic ranges and your breakdown of each projectile is in depth and gives the watcher an accurate idea of what projectiles should do at extended ranges. One of the best channels around.
Cheers, Steve.
Up next: Winchester Deer Season XP test!
This is the best bullet testing for rifles ive seen in RUclips! Love the ruger american x39.
Awesome test! Thanks!!
Another thoughtfully produced video gentlemen.
Thinking TAC-TX in 308 Win may also be good for youth hunter. H4895 has some good reduced load data. This data provides another reduced load option to add along with CX 110.
Thanks for doing this work and sharing your data!
Just thinking the same thing. I wonder how many people load these in 308 Winchester? It seems like a very good option for short barreled 308s.
This channel is criminally being hidden by algorithms but when it goes crazy which will be around 8-10k it will get jiggy numbers wise
I have used barnes for years now and love all the results. Your channel shows me things I assumed but never really knew about their expansion. Thanks guys great job as always !!!
What an excellent video, thank you!
I love your channel guys! Was wondering how this would do the other day! Wonder no more haha. All of your tests/content is great
those are some big wind-meters at 1:50. damn.
great vid, y'all. I plan to hunt with this round come Fall this year (2023)
Great vid. Thanks for this!
This is a great video, 👍
Yes!... Impressive shooting!! Definitely looking forward to the 115 in 6.5. I'll be looking to purchase these 115's now if I can find them and start testing them myself. With the flat base on the 110's in 300 blk I keep my hunting range to 150 yards.... I push the 120's out to 300. Love these pillz
I have a Ruger American in 762 x 39 and have yet to fire a .310 or .311 bullet through the barrel,I use .308 Hornaday 110gn V max and Speer 125gn TNTs, the V max seems to shoot flatter and is just as accurate as the TNT. My load is off the charts so I wont let it out but its safe in my gun, even my starting load was compressed. My Win. cases use large rifle primers but my Remington cases use small rifle but both work just fine even when I intermingle them. The Rem cases hold more powder but I get a little higher failure rate but I also push them harder. The rifle is great and that 16in. barrel is no handicap it shoots far beyond what it should or what I ever expected. On a scale of 1-10 the Ruger American in 7'62 x 39 is a solid 11!
I have a Mini Thirty and done the same thing with it. It’s easier for me to to get .308 125 grain Hornady SST’s than it was anything in .310 or .311
Great video
I love the expansion videos with these unconventional combinations. I run a .308 bore 7.62x39 AR for a deer and hog setup. My experience with the 125 TGK is similar to your tests. Shot a doe inside of 100 yards with great frag and expansion, but no pass through. I’ve since started tests with the 110cx and a sweet shooting load with some 150gr Speer hot core flat point 30-30 projectiles. You guys should try the 135 gr FTX in this platform. That’s my next venture.
Pretty solid shooting right there
I would love to see yall test the hornady cx out of the 7.62x39 or 300blk. I've heard it will expand at 1600 but also heard 2000 soooo. I would be a great comparison to barnes tac-tx.
I'm curious to see how this stacks up against hornady cx 110gr in 7.62x39 bc I'm thinking it will do better at lower velocities. Thanks for another great video!
Barnes is still the best
i load .308 size projectiles into a Ruger Mini 30 with great results. at least at 100 yards that i have shot. some tsx and also sst type bullets shoot well for me.
Subbed
Would love to see the Barnes 130, 150 and 168 grain bullets all from the 30-06!
168 grains
@@dt3852 Yeah? I said 168.
Great results. What was your COAL?
If I can find a Ruger American ranch in 7.62x39 I would get one
I wonder what they would do in the 06 or win mag
Looks like it works as advertised and makes a 300 blk a legitimate 250 yard cartridge. Not a great hunting cartridge but it does look pretty good next to 5.56
There are 5.56 loads that are ethical out to 400-500 yards, so not really.
@@asdfghjk2933 ethical for what?
@@K-bob_45 Deer. I'm guessing you don't believe me? Also I mistyped, 400-500 is a bit of a stretch. I meant 300 - 400.
@@asdfghjk2933 I’ve got 70 gr TSX in my closet. I know there are good rounds out there for it. I still don’t think there is a ton of difference between the two considering there is ~5 gr difference in powder cap and the have the same operating pressure. I go 5.56 for ~12.5 and longer and 300 blk 10.5-7.5”
decent expansion at 1300fps? that's nuts
Do you notice a reduction in accuracy using a .308 diameter bullet in a .311 chambering? Curious as I'm having trouble finding .311 projectiles for my cz 527.
Hello I like these expansion testing videos.
Did you do any in 30 cal 165grs TTSX and in 375 cal 250 grs TTSX and 300 grs TSX and 350grs TSX.
Would interesting to compare the two last ones in Penetration and expansion at distances below 100 yards.
Thank you.
We haven't done the 30 cal 165gr TTSX (Yet) - and we don't have any 375 cal firearms (Yet) - but it'll happen in the future.
@@frontlinerejects8029 hello thanks for your answer.
I am using the 165grs TTSX en 300WIN with 3050 fps and in 308 with 2750 fps.,so this expansion test will be very conclusive for me.
Doing hunting one does not gather the amount of data one would like to.
Looking forward to your testing
With kind regard..Hubert
I'd like to try this in a 16.5" barreled 308 Win.
I think this bullet would be awesome in a short/handy .308 - provided it can handle higher velocity. (Something we will have to test)
This as we understand was designed for 300 blackout and when we ran Hornady's 110 CX in a .308 (Also designed for 300 blackout) it disintegrated.
Barnes bullets tend to be stronger so fingers crossed this could be a winner.
What brand cheek pad is that?
I've been trying to load the 110 tac tx in the 7.62x39 but am having problems with the bullet pushing into the brass😡 did you crimp? Or do you have any helpful hints, I love this combination so would like to find out more on what I'm doing wrong. Please and Thank you
look for a different seating stem, or mod yours for the tipped bullets.
Do you mean push-back when cycling? or a problem when seating it?
I killed many deer with this bullet in my .300Blk with LilGun powder loaded on hot side of recipe. It was GA woods, all shots less than 100yds.

care to share any load data? I'll sign a waiver.
Post a warning and load data please….. Otherwise AWESOME videos.
Awesome video. I recently loaded up some 140gr monoflexs in my 7.62x39 for my ruger American rancher. Getting good accuracy at 100 but have not been able to test on a deer yet. Designed for the 30-30 and to open down to 1500 fps. I figured it could be a decent bullet for the 7.62x39 on deer. It would be sweet if you did a test on this combo.
Accuracy??
Inside 400 - fantastic!
Put that guy in 30-06 and just vaporize deer lungs
