Per Nosler's site, the 165 Gr ABLR "Requires a Minimum 1-9" Twist". I'm in Canada, so supply is hard to find, but I found a place that might sell me some... I don't yet reload, but I am strongly considering it, especially because of the cost of ammunition up here, but I also like tweaking things, and making things from scratch. Anyway, my Tikka T3 270 WSM has a 24 1/3" barrel, with a 1-9.5 twist, and considering what you and Hopeful Ballistics and Reloading Weatherby have done, this looks really promising.
I’m loving this stuff, I’m damn near 60 and just bought my first reloader like the rest of my hobbies buy high. But I intend to have enough components so my son or Grandson should be able to enjoy
Another excellent presentation! As for your feelings on the 140 AB vs. the 165 ABLR at 400yd., the 165 at that range still has ~2,100fpe! Still cruising at 2,392, causing hydrostatic shock.. If you believe in such a thing. I'm pretty sure most animals in North America wouldn't be able to tell the difference, DRT. Either way, nice shooting. I look forward to future tests, especially at lower velocities.
I’ve seen a guy here on RUclips test these bullets out of 1:10 twist regular .270 Win with good success. Have you done any testing with a similar setup? Thanks!
Really enjoy your videos. Do you ever test target bullets such as the ELD-M or BTHP? Some say they perform just as well as the expanding ones but I'd really like to see you guys confirm that or bust that myth.
With Beretta offering a rebate, I purchased a Tikka 270 wsm. Ammo and brass for this caliber is almost nonexistent and now Winchester XP Deer Season is everywhere, seeing this I purchased seven boxes of this ammo. However, the review on this ammo is not the best. Do you have any suggestions, will this ammo hold together?
We’re there a lot of fragmentations? I normally use mon bullets for my game but I have quite a few bonded bullets but still end up going to my mono….don’t mean to start a war in between mono and bonded bullets just looking for field experience, thank you
New to your channel, still looking around, nice work. Very exciting to see this work! I reload 6.8 SPC, 270 Win and now 6.8 Western (browning hells canyon). I recently pulled some factory 6.8 Western cartridges apart- 162 grain copper impacts and 170 grain PowerPoints in order to develop some 175 grain Sierra gameking loads. Anybody out there you could point me to with 1:10 twist 270 Win who had success using these 162s, 170s, or 175s ? Another question anybody out there find success in subsonic 6.8SPC (1:11 twist) using heavier rounds 130-175 grains?
I guess I still don’t understand why the easier to expand bullet doesn’t also expand better at short range. Shouldn’t higher velocity still do the job? Trying to still make sense of why the easier to expand only expands easier at the longer ranges vs the less deep hollow point
The softer projectiles expand TOO well at higher ( ie shorter range) velocity, shed too much weight so will not penetrate as well. See the graph in this case at 100yds it lost 57.1 %. so it ended up weighing only 70.8 grains.
The fact that you usually use 20-25 shots to produce the 5 samples you present in the video... isn't it a clue that the so-called long range hunting or extended range hunting is highly unethical?
That's what I heard as well. We decided to test these after reading on a few forums that some guys were getting good results with 165gr bullets in their stock WSM's. We have a 1 in 10 twist rate and they seem to work very well
Thank you for expansion tests on 270 WSM

I appreciate you didn't have any crap hanging from the front of the barrel. The way a rifle should be.
I was referring to a silencer/suppressor.
If you don’t use a suppressor you are missing out ! Period !………

Awesome video I was really curious about the bullet I got 10 boxes of it for my new 6.8 western
This is fantastic, better every video as you gather data to compare it to. Looking forward to more gentlemen!
Much appreciated!
Thanks for relaying the accuracy information.
Thinking of trying this round out on my rifle. It was my first rifle ever and after all these years. Still might go to rifle for Hunting.
Thanks for the video! I would like to see you do this with the Hornady 150gr interbond in 270 WSM.

Where are you shooting at? Looks beautiful South Dakota?
Thats awesome
What is the twist rate in your 270 WSM? Thanks for doing this! This ABLR kind of reminds me of the Nosler Partition
1 in 10!
Nice to see you here weatherby man
Awesome test! Please do the low velocity test in 30 caliber. Thank you for your hard work!

Nice!barrel length?
Ceep going, tray something Like cup and core on 300 win mag. Great video 👍
Will do, Thank you!
Hmmm i though 150 was close to the top of bullet weight for the 270wsm ?
Same...
nice rifle
what powder did you use
Next, the regular accubond. Right?
We do have several videos on the regular Accubond, including the 140gr in the 270 WSM - you can find them in our expansion playlist!
I was wondering if you would test the Speer hot core 150 grain in the 270 wsm
We will add it to our list!
I have a winchester model 70 in 270 wsm and the twist is 10 what is yours?
Same - 1 in 10
@@frontlinerejects8029 no problem with stability eh...that's great to hear 👍 😀
@@frontlinerejects8029 thanks for the reply...subing

What's the twist rate of your 270?
1 in 10!
@@frontlinerejects8029 Do you have problem stabilizing these bullets?
Didn't seem to, found them to be very accurate.
My only concern would be terminal ballistics
Gel test for these would be great
Ablr is a great bullet . Hard to beat nosler
Rate of twist?....please lol
1 in 10!
How do you figure what you’re twist rate is
Should be stamped on the barrel somewhere, what calibre have you got mate
@@brettstewart8765 I'm talking about his not mine
@@realmetis8002 sorry mate a fella asked how you find out the twist rate so i was replying to him, have a great weekend mate cheers Yogi 👍

Asking to like and sub before the video even starts is a big no to both no matter how good the content turns out to be and a thumbs down as well .
Then tap thumbs down
@@josephrogers8213 already did.
I was always told standard 270 wsm barrel twist wouldn’t stabilize heavy bullets
