    This is the type of testing and display that every single ammo manufacturer should present for each type of ammo. This will allow the customer to make the most educated decision and force developers and manufacturers to produce the most optimal rounds possible at each desired price point and hold them accountable to claims made.

      I'm not associated with Hornady. I find them extremely transparent. Their educational Podcasts are second to none. Phone line to boot! Outstanding in its field.

    The expansion was much better at 400 and 500 yards than I was expecting. These ammunition manufacturers are improving on their copper ammo all the time. Great video keep them coming.

      I don’t think the performance of the TTSX (or TSX for that matter) is that different from this result, at least out to 300 yards. I don’t have experience on animals or recovered bullets at 4 and 500 yards unfortunately.

      @@phild9813 I have worked my Hunting & fishing guided services since 1976 as an only income from the Pacific NW to Alaska.
      Since the days of the Barns X bullets to today's Barns TTSX & TSX bullets, I have used all of them and require clients to bring ammo loaded with the Barns bullets to hunt Alaska because these bullets never fail and bring down animals faster than lead core bullets.
      I have ammo I loaded with the GMX and E-tips but never shot any animals yet with them, but I can say all of my guns shoot very well with these bullets.
      So that is my take as a hunting guide in these bullets.
      As a tip to owners of the 35 Remington I load the Barns TTSX 200 grain bullet in 35 Remington so for the Marlin 336 I load the reloaded 35 Rem with the Barns TTSX 200 grain bullet in the chamber then load the round noise 200 grain in the tube magazine.
      So far, the 35 Cal 200 grain barns TTSX has been a 1 shot kills all !

    Thanks guys for a real test at real distances… seams everyone else test at short range like 20-50’
    Anyway thanks for all the info!! I’m considering picking up some 180’s for my 30-06 and pushing them at around 2750-2800fps… up here a heavy bullet is good for our large Yukon moose, Grizzly and big bison!!

    Excellent test and results from the old warhorse 06. Being a big fan of the 270WSM, I'm very much looking forward to the 130gr CX test . I'm also thinking of trying the 165gr CX in my 300WSM, as my favorite 165gr Interbond is really hard to find due to limited production runs. Thanks guys for another great video👍🙏✌

    Please test the Hornady "Superformance" 165 grain CX chambered in 300 win mag. Hornady states that load will have a muzzle velocity of 3260 out of a 24" barrel. It would be interesting to see how the same bullet would perform at roughly 300 fps faster at all distances.

    The question I have is 20% gel softer or easier on bullets? If so, will the 500 yard expansion be the same in gel?
    So, if a real animal (no bone struck) is softer target then water, at the 400 & 500 ranges, would it be best to take a shoulder shot. This may enhance bullet performance by impacting bone.

    • @mrdark9916
      @mrdark9916 2 месяца назад +1

      No..... Especially at those ranges the last thing you want is to be intentionally hitting bone.
      If at ALL possible you want that bullet to exit.

    Just bought some of these for my 300 rum, it seems to like lighter bullets so I went for something tougher than cup and core. You think 3600fps mv is too much for these?

  • @Snailz5
    @Snailz5 3 месяца назад

    Hornady’s design leaves a lot to be desired. They could’ve made a much sleeker bullet. They made a much better design with the 150gr 30 cal, only losing .22 g1 bc with 15gr less bullet.
    Please test the 168gr TTSX. Barnes claims it opens at 1500 fps, so it should be closer to LRX than typical TTSX performance. I think it’s the best bullet in 30 cal for the non-magnums if that claim holds.

    Fellows, I really appreciate your videos, they are very informative. Now, I need to ask a favor. If you can get your hands on a 338 Win Mag, could you conduct the same testing on a 225 grain CX bullet. Hornady loads this bullet in there Outfitter line of ammo. I am high on a trip to South Africa 🌍 right now. This CX 225 grain pill 💊 in the 338 Win Mag just might be the ammo I take with. Can you hook a brother up on a 338 WM CX video to verify bullet performance as you normally do. 🤠 Would be greatly appreciated.

    just for the record the CX's are not all copper, they're copper alloy, unlike the Barnes copper bullets and nosler E-tip, and federal Trophy copper bullets, all great options just keep in mind that copper alloy's create less fouling which in-turn ads in accuracy, well at least in theory. lasty, Hornady says the CX's need at least 2000 feet per second to expand properly, the CX were found to not suffer from as much drag as other mono's. word to the wise, dont use these on deer, or any medium sized game, the bullet will just pass through and so its its not a perfect shot the poor animal will possibly run off and suffer longer if not found quickly, monos are horrible idea on anything smaller than elk, but they're great for commies & liberals
