"Operation Buffalo, the Marines fight for the DMZ" written by Keith William Nolan is a minute by minute recap, by survivors of the 2 July 1967 ambush I can recommend as insightful reading of this horrific day in our Marine Corps history. I knew David Hendry and have talked to other Marines of Bravo 1/9. Was in amtracs and we supported the grunts. So pleased to meet Derl Horn through this interview. Semper Fidelis to you Derl as we hold the memory of all of those in Operation Buffalo initiated by the contact of Bravo 1/9.

My unit was Delta1/5, 1st Marine Division and the Union operations would be my last as I was wounded twice with the second wound sending me home. While I was in the hospital I was presented the Silver Star for my actions in the Unions. If interested, I have written a book-memoir that covers these operations from start to. finished. It is called, "The Best of the Best The Fighting 5th Marines. Vietnam." Amazon has it.

As to visiting THE WALL...I circled it four times before I garnered the fortitude to enter so I could honor them. It was magnificent. I dared not look directly at those enshrined names, as tears and snot were flowing............... And I was trying to be collected. I knew those men there etched in the WALL...died in futility. And I was mere REMF perimeter security and inner security FAC (OV-1 and OV-10s) at Da Nang 1971. Got to experience a 6.72 whiz within a foot or so of my pretty face once and survived rocket attacks. Nothing like this man experienced. GOD bless you John Wentworth NO MORE WAR. Stay dry.
