  • In this interview with Mike Harris, done in his home, we cover Operations Essex and Auburn, where Mike would witness significant fighting as 1967 rolled into 1968, killing at point blank range, how Mike blew up the 'shitter' at Phubai with (he literally did), the impact of plotting the wrong coordinate for H&I fire missions, how Mike found himself getting short on his tour and wound up in Hue City, Mike's last patrol in country with One Day and a Wake Up in country turned into a hellish firefight, and finally coming home on the freedom bird and how he was received at El Torro by anti-war protesters.

    My friend was an Air Force forward observer at Khe Sahn. Great man… very humble.
