I’m looking for underwear, pattern, ideas, or alteration ideas for those with dexterity problems such as arthritis

I am currently making underwear. I have tried several patterns, but my current favourite is the Tilly and the Buttons Iris. I made 5 airs yesterday, all with an elastic picot lace, FOE, or stretch lace trim and they took me all day. I will try your hip huggers, for sure.

I’ve made my own undies a few times, drafted from a pair that I own and watching underwear making vids. I bring the side seam forward to avoid side chaffing, I like fabric leg bands instead of elastic. I repurpose elastic or remove bands from underwear that wasn’t fitting well. I used old t shirts but it doesn’t stay well fitting, I try to find a little two way stretch, in upcycled t shirts or dresses. Also I saw a method for customizing the gusset which can be skimpy in ready made underwear. I also have an insulin pump so I’m thinking of making a little pocket to use while sleeping. I think this looks awesome but I hate ironing (can’t stand the heat) so no, I’d never would want this in my actual wear-it closet if I have to press those seems open every time. I even skip ironing shirts and blouses altogether if I can but don’t think that would look nice with this one. Also loved the flower broche and the black and white shirt you made

Your videos are so incredibly helpful, they have helped me learn how to make my first pairs already. I also just made my first pair of magic pamts and i can't stop telling people how brilliantly engineered the pattern is. I normally struggle A LOT with patterns, but your written instructions, along with the videos have been a genuine pleasure to sew along to. I have learned to much from you, and i cant thank you enough!

Thank you! I've had good luck at thrift stores when looking for 100% cotton knits. Such as tee-shirts. Affordable too.

Hi, any tips to alter ostamy undies please, I have a large hernia behind my ostamy, so the left side is about 5" bigger than the right side and the back is so high it cuts into my waist. Any ideas would be great. Thanks ❤

I just finished making my first pair of magic pants, which also happens to be my first pair of pants I've sewn... I've watched this video 37 times (probably more) while making the pants. 😂😅 I have put on a bunch of weight recently and have struggled finding pants that make me feel comfortable and HUMAN. I just discovered you through a From Carly B video! I purchased this pattern today and I can't want to make these. I have been saving some special fabric for the perfect pants and I think I have found it! I will be making my first pair with a less precious material before I cut into that special fabric! Sizing guidance is so incredibly helpful! I am very curvy; bust 42” waist 35” Hip 46” so I have been afraid to sew anything but dresses and skirts. This will be my first pair of pants! Hoping to make something office appropriate. 🤞

Hi Ann! I am considering buying this pattern, but what's holding me back is that I have never bought any pattern before, digital or otherwise. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding what I'm gonna receive if I buy the digital pattern, and if I'm gonna be able to make sense of it. I live far away from the US, so the digital pattern makes sense to buy! I've seen the physical pattern in use in this and other videos, but would you be able to do a short video about what the digital pattern contains and how to use it?

I have been making umdereear out of upcycled tshirts and that works well too. These patterns looks great!

Your machine should not be skipping stitches! I have had the Janome Cover Stitch Machine, 1000CP, for several years. It was skipping stitches, and I took it back to the place where it was purchased. The timing was not right, so after it was adjusted, no more skipping. I really like mine!

Just received my pattern in the mail today, yay! Going to practice making the first one out of muslin to figure out tweaks and practice those pleats! Going to go watch that video, and the two for Magic Pants as well. Thanks, Ann Tilley!

Can you make a video for beginners about sewing simple stuff please? I like your videos❤. However, just somehow there are something too advanced too me.

I just gave up on my janome and got an industrial with top cover and a selection of binders for less than janome want to charge for just a single binder. After using my temperamental coverpro for years I’ll never touch janome again. Industrial machines are as smooth as can be, jump the seams with ease and never skip stitches 🤷‍♂️
