Hello! Apologies for the delay. I've had a couple of weeks off. We did consider stopping in Lauterbrunnen and the original plan was to do 2 night in Interlaken and then 2 nights in Lautrbrunnen, but after we visited Lauterbrunnen on the train, we didn't see much point as we were settled in Interlaken. Plus, Interlaken connected to everything like you mentioned so it just worked well. I'd still stay in Lauterbrunnen in the future though or Grindelwald if we found somewhere there. The place we stayed in Interlaken allow less than 5 nights, but I found a 5 night minimum a thing too. I think the campsite in Interlaken was TPS Interlaken. The name is on the video. It was next to the main river that runs between the lakes. The travel pass for the trains and to go to the top of the Jungfrau isn't cheap. We've avoided it in the past, but this time we just said we needed to do it otherwise we never will. I might be mistaken as it was 2022, but I think it cost us around 500 euros in total for all the passes, so not cheap, but you only really need to do it once in your life so in that sense, worth the money. Hope that helps 🙂
@ thank you so much for your reply helps a lot. Love your videos and inspírate us to buy a tentbox for our defender . Planning todo Two weeks trip from Newcastle where we are base to the dolomites and other countries .
@ that will be an amazing trip. We’ve done the dolomites on our motorbikes but never in the tent. Closes we got was the visit to Interlaken. Another time though 😊
@ thanks man will keep you post it of the outcome . We going to do similar to your trip .but after interlaken we will head to dolomites then lake Garda , Venice then return through berona then all the Ticino area to return to England through Amsterdam . Will make a video in our family utube channel and will share it with you 🫶. Will buy the tentbox XL lite in the comming weeks .
If the roof load is 50kg and the tent is 50kg then how can you sleep in it? Wouldn't the weight of your body be added to the tent weight?

Choc Chip any recommendations for keeping warm. As a family we’ve struggled even in warmer seasons.
@@G4vwh If we’re talking about inside of tent, i’d recommend the thermal liner as that does help. I’ve just purchased an electric blanket that i’ll be trying next time i’m out. Apparently they’re good for keeping you warm from below while sleeping. Beyond that i’d recommend a good quality sleeping bag or duvet, whichever you prefer… and lots of blankets if you’re still cold. I usually take my hot water bottle with me too and there’s nothing better than cuddling into that when it’s cold. When outside of the tent, we’ve got warm daddy’s (you can find a review video on my channel). It’s like an oodie but with a heater inside that runs off a power bank. I’ve also worn that while sleeping too when it’s been super cold 😊

@@alanimals Thank you 🙏🏻 Possibly. I’m too defiant for that though so i’m determined to crack this haha 😀
I bought mine on August 2023 with your code and i had many km driven since, about 15000. No condensation, resistant in wind, quite noisy but with some tarp clamps can be sorted. Made mysef a wind deflector of 5mm aluminium (too much, probably 3mm should be enough) to help with the fuel economy. Fuel consumption on last trip, about 8.8/100 km in a BMW X3 35d Msport. So, not much extra. Normally without tent would be about 8.5. Highway (120km/h) and alpine roads up to 2500m altitude . It might not be as fast to open and close but it compensate through space. I am 1.83 and still need a stl to help with the poles . Happy camping
@@mapsnavigation Amazing. Glad you’re enjoying it. 100% agree, the space is worth the longer set up and pack down time 👍🏻
I like the look of these,be good on my fishing trips, only problem for me is if you need to get out the tent and its raining, could let in rain when you open the door,do like it tho
Hi , very informative video just wondering when you open the roof window is it just bug mesh and not waterproof , cheers 👍👍
@@pointitnorth252 Yeah so you’ve got the two panels on each door/window. You’ve got the outer panel which is your waterproof protection and then the bug mesh underneath for your second door. So if i was raining and you just had your bug mesh zipped up, you’d get wet. This is where the Lite models have the advantage as they have the outer rainfly cover, so you can have just the bug mesh open but you’d be protected from the weather as you’ve got the outer cover with a clear plastic panel to let the light in 👍🏻
Thank you
Enjoy yourselves 🏴
Nice video but there’s a few bits you didn’t mention. In Europe you need to display a UK sticker, a GB one doesn’t count & nor does it count if it’s on your number plate already, you can be fined without one. You also need to have the high-viz vest as a must not in case, along with a triangle for breakdowns. With regards to Park4Night it assumes you are in a camper van or van conversion not a RTT. RTT camping laws are vastly different to the others, you can’t legally park in lay-bys or car parks without the land owners permission if using a RTT. The law states camp sites only or private land with permission. You can stay in a van but it has to be contained inside the vehicle so no cooking outside, no ladders (so no RTT), you can’t even sit outside in these places technically. I’ve popped a post in the community group today about this (12/09/24) in answer to someone’s question about “wild camping” (also illigal in England & Wales). However, RoofBunk have a fantastic page about this & all the laws on their website for anyone interested.
@@stevefindlater302 Yeah I knew i’d missed something. The UK sticker especially is an important one. Appreciate you mentioning it 🙏🏻

Thank you vor the video, I think i Fond the purfekt tent for me❤
Hello again,. Had my first trip in the next for a few day.... Awesome!!! So quick. On roof loads, totally get what your saying about the weight and static weight. But what about cross bars? I bought mine from tentbox (recommended for my model of jeep) summit 930, I did notice quite a bit of bend when my partner was in the tent box with our dog and then read that the max weight was 75kg (I have the lite xl) so the 62kg of that and with myself, my partner and doggo all in the tent, that is way more that the "max weight" should I buy more cross bars and have 4 on there? Just don't want them braking while I'm sleeping.... Still new to all of this so all advice welcome. 😂
Also just got mine its "pitched" in my living room right now. Relatively straight forward assembling but it took me 3 hours, well over the 90 minutes 😂 All being well will be going on the car tomorrow. Its aimed at people who just want to sleep, and want a quick put up and down, at a mich cheaper price, and lightweight too.
Yeah that's what I took from it. Like I said in my video, i'm making no judgements on people who like a home away from home, but for me, I like to keep it as simple as possible when I can. This definitely ticks that box. Thanks for the insight on the set up time. I'll let you know how I get on in October 🙂
It's not really cheap though it's a grand and it's over priced for what it is. The lite is only £250 more.
@@andrewreid380 Obviously not ysing stm but yes its not cheap, but Im still happy with it overall. Its like a cargo at a mich cheaper price. If you want the bigger size then sure get the lite. For me, the quick put up and down is important as its a key benefit over a regular tent, thats more important fore than the increased space.
Just got my go and am loving it. Was the only rtt i could mount with my remaining load limit after my awning and roof rack. Definitely a great tent in my opinion, will have to see how it holds up in the long term. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts after trying it out properly.
