    Thanks again Chris, another great video. We bought an XL a few months ago on the strength of your earlier review and it's been absolutely fantastic for us and the kids. It feels bombproof and has allowed us to have plenty of adventures already - thanks mate, your reviews are really useful and much appreciated.

    Good to see you enjoying your XL. We have the Lite 2.0 and, at 50kg, find it okay to get on and off the car roof with just two of us. The XL however, is over 70kg and quite hard for two people to handle. We looked at XL and liked the extra space it offered but have chosen the Lite 2.0 due to ease of handling. The trade off is therefore space vs handling

      @@trick700 That’s fair enough. When my wife and I lifted on our original cargo on the truck back in 2020, we snapped off my aerial and spent the whole day arguing. When the XL went on last year, thank god our neighbour saw us about to start and offered to help, otherwise that would have ended up much the same i’d imagine. So yes, I completely understand the value in a tent that’s easy to handle 😂

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  28 дней назад +1

      Thank you 🙏🏻 Yes, there will always be a loss of MPG. More so on the motorway I've found. I can't measure it accurately though as the truck isn't our main vehicle so I don't use it day to day.
      What I will say is that I did get decent mileage on the trip to New Forest where I made this video. I was keeping an eye on it and it wasn't a huge amount less than it initially estimated

      @@holsteincowboy it’s possible to mitigate some mpg loss by sticking to 50-60 mph or just by keeping off motorways altogether. Surprisingly it really doesn’t make that much difference to overall journey time, over UK distances. We’re quite enjoying B roads and finding some beautiful places we’ve never seen before! No need to rush. 💯% chill 😎

    I just sold mine Xl I realised it’s all hype. I brought a trakker gazebo takes 2 mins to set up and 2min 40 to have back in it bag. It’s 10000 hydrostatic head double the tentbox. It’s bigger 275cmx275cm. No ladder I can stand up in it. Also now I don’t have the tentbox on the roof I have a roof box to store all the camping stuff in. It’s a much better set up then a tb and at half the cost.

      @@ChocChipTravels yeah exactly I Swerved the ground tenting idea as I didn’t want a long set up and pack down time hence the Xl. But these trakker carp bivies are another level they do a tempest rs 150 RUclips it it sets up even faster. Plus even with a 4x4 3 kids 2 small dogs the boot was always rammed. Now it all goes into the roof box boot is empty for the dogs. Another plus is no one can nick it of the roof. They do have their uses but it it’s incomparable too the new setup

    Another informative video Chris. One question, do you leave the original mattress in as well as the mattress topper and how do you stop the topper from sliding down when you fold the tent? Thanks

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  25 дней назад

      @@paulclare7477 Thank you 🙏🏻 Yeah mattress and topper both stay in. Generally for the most part, the topper folds away no problem. Every now and again it’ll stay folded when you open it, but you just sort it when you first go up in the tent. Since the topper is (almost) the same size as the mattress, it doesn’t slide about
