Thanks for the tip about condensation under the mattress. We had our Cargo out for the first time a couple of weekends ago and loved it. Keep up the good work!
Waiting on my 2022 Cargo arriving having ordered way back end of August, should hopefully be here by end of January. I chose the Cargo for the rugged construction and for as you mentioned the extra headroom, .5m is pretty significant extra over the Classic. Apparently the 22 model has been updated with vents on the underside to cut down on condensation and Tentbox told me that there is room for the ladders too. I invested in good down sleeping and quilted throw so well worth getting a really good one. Having worked in Argyll for 10 years I would advise staying away from trees, standing fresh water and try and pitch up in a breezier location. As for lighting I have numerous magnetic Olight Obulbs that also come in varying colours of light and also a good set of usb powered string lights.
Thanks for the review. I'm toying with the idea of getting a cargo and I think you may have just pushed me over the edge to push that purchase button.....😃

Excellent review thank you. I am researching Bundutec vs Overland MK2 vs Tentbox and this review is really helpful. I was leaning toward a box text but now the clam shell seems to be the way to go for that extra height. This tent seems like it will be pretty slim when closed, the benefit of Bundutec and Overland seems you can store bedding inside but that comes at the cost of a taller box when closed - this is also the only one of the three where standard roof bars can be used - so choices choices 🤓
Hi there great video . I’ve just got a tent box cargo and was wondering if yours has a small square hole in the front just under the mattress in the middle ?
Hello! So you can get lockable roof bars by thule (and likely other companies) but a lock is only as good as the commitment someone has to steal it. We have the lockable roof bars as well as security nuts to lock the tent to the roof bars. As well as that, get your tent insured. A lot of people use club care, whereas some people add them onto their home insurance or even their car insurance. Worth checking with both. Also, if you’re just starting out, you might want to check the roof load limit of your car for dynamic weight. Every car is different and if your tent weighs more than your roof load limit, your insurance (i believe) might be invalid. Just worth checking all these things before you invest. Good luck and message if you have any questions 👍🏻
@@ChocChipTravels thanks so much for this. I'm selecting roof bars for the car right now and wondering if you use basic square bars or the wing profile ones from Thule?
@@windinmysails Ours are the wing bars on the front cab with one square bar on the back. While cheaper, the square bars are more prone to whistling from what i’ve experienced so i’d say if you can afford them get the wing bars
Are you referring to tent or roof bars? If you mean tent, you’d first have to check what the roof load limit of the car is to see which tent it could hold. If it’s 75 or over, you can put any tent on top. I’m not familiar with the vehicle but had a look online and with the roof being shortish, you might get a bit of overhang with the classic/cargo models, so possible a lite model would fit nicely?
I’m 6’3 and while I could lie flat on my back, my toes did touch the roof. Still fine and slept on my back no problem, but if you’re a side sleeper you’ll have no bother 👍🏻

good thing i find to close mine is get a long enough loop of para cord that you can put your foot in , loop it around one of the handles and just add your weight to it ,problem solved
Great review very informative thanks. I hope to keep my tent box on my vehicle full time you briefly mentioned security could you expand on that I am trying to figure out how to secure it so as to minimise the risk, Thanks.
We used security nuts and lockable roof bars. Not sure what more you can do beyond insuring it. If you have the clearance under your tent you could look at Kinmar lockable nuts M8 size. They look good 👍🏻
Awesome I've been looking at this model, do you think it would be suitable on a Peugeot 3008? It's a good size car but the roof bar fixings are around 72cm apart (tentbox recommends minimum 75cm). I would shift it back also to not overhang the front like you said Cheers man
Hello Arne, thanks for the watch and the comment. So the only other thing i have is a video i made of a trip i did in Druridge Bay. You can find this on our channel. I’m planning on doing another video very soon showing more of the tent inside and out 😊
I’ve record a full review of the ARB awning room setup with the tentbox awning but i’ve been so busy i haven’t had chance to cut it together. Hopefully soon, along with some trips away 👍🏻😊
Great video! Thanks for sharing.. im sold on the Tentbox! You mentioned a privacy tent? Is that what's on the left of your ladder? Where is the from? Thank you
Yes that’s correct. It’s from direct 4x4 and called a privacy/shower tent if i remember. It was about £200 ish. If you’re happy to use the link in the description when ordering your tentbox that would be much appreciated. You can also message us on our @chocchiptravels insta and i’ll help you claim a free gift. Happy adventuring!! 😊

Hi i love the vids, not many about considering how popular the Tentboxes are, Do you still use yours much and will you do any more vids about it and your trips?
Hi and thanks for the comment. I do have another one already filmed but just need to cut it together. Thanks for watching. Yes they are great. It’s hard to really describe the feeling of travelling with it other than the feeling of freedom and for me, it reminds me of when I used to go caravanning as a kid. Whilst this is a good review, it might be a good idea to disclose tat you're on a kickback from them (otherwise you wouldn't have a specific tracking url with user Christopher)
Hey Matthew, yeah we get a little kickback using our tracking link but if we were trying to hide that fact, we would have changed the link so it wasn't so obvious. It certainly doesn't change our feelings on the tent which are genuine. It's also worth mentioning that based on feedback, people don't seem to actually care either way as long as they feel informed from the video, which we know they do
