Hey man, I liked the video and just went out and bought the awning today! I have the Tentbox Lite model, so excited to see what my campsite will look like once travel restrictions are lifted, keep up the good content!
Thanks pal, yeah i’m really looking forward to more trips away this year. The awning does add a little something to the set up. We hang festoons up around the edge and it looks awesome all lit up. Enjoy it dude and thanks for the kind words
Buddy just found your vids as have just got me a Delica and am looking at either a pop top or roof tent. Your vids are excellent super informative. Much appreciated.
The awning you have is a slightly modified design. The idea is that the spikes help the post hold better in soft ground which means the awning is less likely to move about in the wind 👍🏻
@@ow8661 Hmm… I guess so?? If it was then moving around too much with the spikes on hard ground i’d maybe look at making something to sit the spikes on when on hard ground. Not sure what exactly. I’d have to give it some thought but you get what I mean
@@ChocChipTravels Hi Chris, just spent the last 6 months converting a ex British Gas caddy van, just taken delivery of out Tentbox cargo and the awning so this weekend is our first trip out. We are having a night in Blackpool then 2 days in north wales. ARB room being ordered after watching your review. Now we know it definitely fits lol. Mark
Hi, I have got the awning out of the box no instructions. It came with a bag of bolts and 2 big brackets any idea I thought the awning slid along the groves on the side of the roof tent or am I wrong? Kinda wondering how the brackets go on
@@markm7888 So is it the cargo awning brackets you have? If so, they bolt to the cargo tent on one side of the bracket, then the other side of the bracket bolts to the back of the awning (so the brackets sit between the tent and the awning)
Yeah it’s all very secure. The straps inside that hold the folded fabric in place don’t move and the outer cover keeps it all held together when zipped up
No, not as such. The way the awning sits on the cargo when attached with the cargo awning brackets means that there is a bit of space between the back of the awning and the tent (maybe 2 inches). The locking brackets still have plenty of room to open, the awning just stops them from dropping all the way down like they would at the moment. The locking latch just rests on the alu frame at the back of the awning
I bought a tent box lite and my friend owns a Ventura and you're correct by the build quality, the tentbox although more expensive looks and feels a lot better quality product. I've been debating whether to buy the awning and thanks for the review.
That’s great to hear. I’ve never seen a Ventura in the flesh so i can’t compare from personal experience but it’s generally true that you get what you pay for with most things so i’m not surprised. Have you been anywhere with your Lite yet?
@@ChocChipTravels dont know why its jumped accounts lol I've done morecambe and 3 of my mates farms a couple of times, I'm a single dad so saving then buying bits, I'm just buying a decent bike rack si we can take our bikes away with us then my next thing is the awning.

Hi .. great video Like the awning but like you, really want the sides for more privacy... when you say the ARB awning room fits what do you mean exactly ? .... still buy the tent box awning +the ARB awning room and the sides fit the tent box awning or do you mean forget the tent box awning and buy the ARB awning room .... I have the tent box cargo roof tent so not sure if the ARB awning room would fit the side panel 👍
Hey Gary, yeah so buy the Tentbox awning and attach it to your cargo using the cargo brackets that Tentbox sell. Then buy the arb deluxe awning room. It’s essentially a cube, four walls, a floor and a ceiling and it just clips onto the vertical and horizontal poles of the tentbox awning, as well as sliding into the upper channels. If you youtube search for the ARB deluxe awning room, you’ll see how it attaches to other awnings. It’s exactly the same with the tentbox awning. You’ll need the 2m x 2.5m room and remember to order the deluxe room if you decide to go for it 👍🏻
Lucinda Wheeler-Mallows Thank you. We’ve never had an issue yet. We’ve just raised one side higher and dropped the other side down to let the water run off and that seems to do the trick 👍🏻
Hi we have just purchased the awning along with a tentbox classic. We got the brackets but are struggling to see how this fits to the cross bars on our landrover. How did you attach it to your truck?
Hey, ours attached directly to the cargo tent. For the classic, they’ll need to attach to your cross bars using the L brackets. Do you cross bars have a runner along the top that allow you to attach things to them?
Hi mate. Great review. Just bought a Cargo and awning. Do you have a link to the ARB room you bought? The ones I've found are 2100mm x 2500mm. Wanted to make sure it was the right one!
Have You seen also some Australian awnings like Supa-peg or Darche? How would you compare the material and build Quality? Is it possible to buy tent or walls to the tentbox awning?
Kaur Treimann i’ve heard of Darche but never seen a darche or supa-peg in person so i couldn’t comment on the comparison. Tentbox don’t sell walls for their awning just yet, but we purchased the 2m x 2.5m ARB Deluxe Awning Room which attaches directly to the Tentbox awning. You can also buy individual wall panels that connect directly if you didn’t want the full room 👍🏻
@@ChocChipTravels thanks for the answer. Do you know any other uk manufacturers who can sell me full set (awning, tent and wind walls)? Would like to buy from one place to get cheaper transport cost (live in Estonia)...
Kaur Treimann I’ve not looked too much, but if you take a look at Trekoverland.com, they seem to have a good selection of different brands of tents, awnings and walls etc so you should be able to get everything from them
Awesome video i am waiting for my Tentbox awning to arrive I have the classic tent i am hoping to mount the awning brackets under the tent box on the cross bars as there is no room to move Tentbox over a little on my V dub. Unless of course you any tips. Great videos i don't hold the shirt against you 😃

Great review, just away to purchase one now, there’s two options for the cargo brackets - angled base and curved base, not sure what the difference, both are marked cargo so 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for watching and for the comment 👍🏻 They only offered one bracket when I bought ours. Just looked at the website but can’t see any info or images for what the difference is between curved and angled?
andrewbell1968 It could, but it wouldn’t attach directly to the Lite tent. It would need to attach to your roof bars or rack if you’re using one of those? That’s the most common way. The awning comes with L brackets to attach to cross rails that allow you to attach things (like Thule or the Cruz Aero R rails we have), but i’ve also seen some people manufacture brackets depending on the roof bar/rack they’re using. It’s possible though for sure 👍🏻
andrewbell1968 Yeah it’s a great tent. We’re literally lying in it now with the rain pouring outside and it’s warm and dry in here. How do you find the Lite? I liked the idea of a window to look up at the stars
Haha okay. The review is of the awning itself, not the awning brackets. Since the brackets are optional extras, they were not intended to be part of the review. Remember, if there’s something you don’t know in life you can always ask questions instead of being disappointed that you’ve not been spoon fed a specific detail that most people wouldn’t care about knowing. Your comment disappoints me 😊
