Fictional characters have no value besides visual gratification. Fictional *women* as in cartoons or CGI women are not women, they are not people. Hey, great video! Bought it right after release myself and agree with the points you brought up, the only thing i really disliked about the game was just how handholdy it was, especially during the crime scene parts.

2:46 you say this but I'm certain that you trimmed, combed, washed, maybe make-up (some do for cameras), designed your camera lens, lightning, and color corrected your scene to help make yourself look better. People aren't arguing because the character isn't "hot enough to bang", like so many people try to spin it. The character simply isn't good looking. It's an ugly design. The character in Outlaws isn't even ugly she just isn't a super model she's just a normal level of attractive ...it's like those guys are too desensitized to actual good looks by filters and *corn to accept any female that does not look like a super model or A list actress.

Look, here's why this is a stupid take. on the argument of female protagonists I was in the military for 14 years, 8 years as infantry, 4 years in special forces, 2 years as a recruit instructor at my nation's school of infantry. I can tell you one undeniable fact Women are not strong, and they are not "bad assess." During my time as a recruit instructor, we started accepting women into combat roles who had to perform at the same standard as men. We had roughly 8000 women attempt the school of infantry, and 1 passed; the rest failed. In one case, we had an entire platoon of 40 women fail within the first 3 days because in the 30 days between basic training and arriving at the school of infantry, their fitness level had deteriorated that badly. More so, once in Afghanistan, we had to escort a female engineer to a village who needed a woman to talk to local women since culturally they won't talk to men. We altered our 9-day patrol route and took her with us since it was only 10 km away. She went clean skin, so only armour and rifle, while we had all our gear and 60 kg packs. She was fucking bawling over the squad radio 300 metres in for us to slow down and that we were moving too fast for her. Shit like this is combined with the fact that no one these days seems to be able to write women well or realistically (they just write them as men), means people are just sick of seeing it. We're all sick of having everything in gaming today be women-focused or LGBT-focused. I say this as a bi-man myself. The world is sick to the fucking death of it. The least they could do is actually use the models faces in these games, not alter them to look ugly. These are real women doing these characters. In regards to Ubisoft, yes, it does need to be taken down. It is not only too corporatized, but it is also run by politically driven women. Look up "Ubisoft Developer Team" and you will see they are all white women, particularly Ubisoft Canada. These are all diversity hires they are incompetent at their jobs they are bad developers mad modelers bad texture artists and especially bad writers One of the developers for Volition not long ago did an interview on a podcast. Another factor to take into consideration is the internet. Nowadays, the internet is an easy place to engage in negative discourse. When it comes to discourse like Outlaws and even AC Shadows, one of the primary reasons why people are so eager to jump into this is because of staving off boredom. That's the internet culture to ya. People can try to justify it however they want, but at the end of the day, they're just bored and looking for something to stave that off.

Thank you for this. I've been a huge gamer since the late 1970s (I'm old). I have seen more whining and manufactured hate in games in the last year than I have in my entire decades of gaming combined. I'm really glad you recognized the behavior from your previous video that is so prevalant now. That's some admirable honesty. I see it all the time now just looking at my social media feeds. Content creators with big headlines that are just ripping games before they even come out. It seems there is a feedback loop just looking at social media between content creators creating false outrage for clicks, gaming outlets praising evey aspect of a game, and then the comments section of those articles repeating all of the false outrage from the content creators. The game is not even out yet and people are nitpicking every possible pixel presented in an unfinished build of a demo. People forgot why we game in the first place, because it's FUN. Not every game has to be a graphical powerhouse. It needs an engaging story, world, and fun gameplay. Creators put their hearts and souls into games, and to have it ripped before it comes out is something I can't even imagine would feel like to them. Now corporate politics are becoming a huge problem, but we are an outrage society where ill will sells more than happiness. I just don't get it.

I was surprised when Skillup's commenters turned on him for that Outlaws preview. It seemed like what I'd expect from modern Ubisoft, bland and somewhat entertaining content aimed for the masses (like many AAA experiences today). I expected better from the people following that channel since Skillup himself is pretty balanced. I've recently blocked a lot of hate train channels, especially if they have "woke" in the title while accusing a company of being awful because they dared have a minority or LGBT character in their game. Glad you're contributing to the discussion in a more balanced way.

When I saw the title of this video I expected the worst, but I'm happy you are one of those reviewers who have a good head on their shoulders. Back in my teens I was really drawn into the gamer-gate garbage and these attitudes around women in video games reminds me of the vitriolic rhetoric used back then. It's a shame discussion around games have fallen to the wayside in favor of a faux discussion that's really about hate and exclusion; something gaming shouldn't really be about. Finally somebody speaks sense! Im so tired of all the negative discourse surrounding outlaws and especially shadows! Most of the creators i follow were generally positive or at the very least cautiously optomistic about outlaws, but the comments are absolute hives of scum and villainy. I for one choose to actually check out the product before passing judgment and am looking forward to checking outlaws out.

Now you understand why I play Gotham knights, sure whatever the game was “bad” but i know someone out there heart in the game and I’m playing it because I’m a true gamer and I love Batman, I play what I want to play even if the game was received negatively.

I think the reason for all of this is that, as you said the beginning, games aren't as fun as they used to be. Because of that, the smaller things that wouldn't normally be a problem are a lot easier to spot, and only add to the hate these games already deserve.

I am going to do a playthrough of this game on my channel. Personal, I liked this game for what it was. I think part of that was NOT expecting a Dead Space 4. I liked the atmosphere, I liked the main character. The melee centric combat is what stood out. Having the enemy right in your face added to the tension.
