    One thing I do love and praise about Dead Space 1's remake it's that it adds up to series,is not only a graphical update, it have details and Isaac ways of speaking makes him an even more likeable/human character.
    And I think that's one of the thing people enjoys the most about Isaac: He,especially in the remake, acts as how a normal person would act when some alien zombie tries to,ya know,chop you off. I especially love that Isaac would talk back to everyone in the remake,being done with everyone's BS by the end

    Few people are old enough and into this enough to understand how important the initial intent to make a new System Shock game contributed to Dead Space.
    A crew changed from an alien pathogen, a ship in disarray needing repairs, a variety of weapons and equipment that can be upgraded extremely, voice and video logs of the crew, the list goes on.
    Looking Glass Studios lived through Visceral Games which now lives through Motive Studio. I'm a big fan of Sci-fi horror and I hope we get the sequel remade too

    I definitely NEED to get around to playing this and the original games. I really hope they remake the second game (let’s hope they remake that Dead Space Mobile title. It would also be cool if they remade that Wii rail shooter as a vr game). I’m assuming if they were to also remake 3 they’d probably give us Viseral’s original vision with Shadow Issac, or try to use what worked with 1/2 and cram it into 3. I saw someone talking about adding in some survival elements where you have to deal with the cold, and that would be interesting. The guy suggested remove human enemies, but I personally think that would be a mistake because they were instrumental to the original game’s plot. What they should do is refine those sections by making the guns LETHAL requiring you to sneak around and flank the enemy. Also, take out the love triangle because it didn’t add anything to the plot.
    I really like how they used the Thing as inspiration for the body horror. It definitely makes the Necromorphs far more horrific. When watching that movie it didn’t really scare me because I was mostly just mesmerized by the practical effects. It’s a shame that now everything is just made with computers. It’s really interesting learning how people pulled that stuff off back in the day. They had to get VERY creative for how they’d do sounds and other things. Apparently, for the scene where the guy gets his arms bitten off they used an amputee with fake limbs and a mask to make him look like the actor.
    When playing Doom 3 it never really scared me. I was more mesmerized by the horrible oppressive atmosphere (it also helped that I was using the BFG Edition with the shoulder mounted flashlight). I liked how the people in it gave realistic reactions to having demons enter into real space. I also enjoyed how the beginning was basically ripped from the original Half-Life, and the game is basically Half-Life with demons. I’m also in the weirdo camp who prefers it over the original Dooms (I think it’s mainly because I prefer mouse look, being able to jump, and reloading) and the new ones because of its slower pacing and atmosphere.
    That’s cool how they used Alien as an inspiration. The Alien series has had a polling impact on me growing up. Which, is pretty ironic because I only saw one complete film since I wasn’t allowed to watch R rated films as a kid and as an adult I just haven’t gotten around to watching them. The way I’d get my Alien fix was by reading the comics, playing the games, and my cousins had several action figures of the Alien and Predator. There was also this cool AVP Minecraft mod that I’d binge watch videos on. Something that’s really interesting about Alien is the thing is essentially one big rap e allegory with violatuon playing a big role in it. The Alien’s biomechanical design is sexual, the Facehugger’s face looks like a v and the tube looks like a p (I hate RUclips’s censorship bot), there was the “crab walk” deleted scene where the Alien is crawling towards Lambert and its tail looks erect and when the character dies you hear her horrible screams and the tail snaking up her legs. There’s some other things I can’t name off the top of my head. It’s really interesting and very disturbing to think about.
    Great video! Good luck on whatever you make next👍

      Absolutely you do. You're missing out on some peak horror. As for Doom 3, so many people feel similar to you. Most never found it overly scary, but everything about it gets under my skin. Nothing feels natural, and the atmosphere is so oppressive. Alien is really my bread and butter, I probably know almost everything about those movies, but I never read any of the comics. The original Alien really helped define this genre and inspired so many games/movies.

    • @shreksnow1918
      @shreksnow1918 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah. Thankfully, they’re on GamePass so once I get the time I can play through the series. Hopefully, EA has already greenlit a Dead Space 2 electric boogaloo remake.
      Yeah, I can understand that. They did a good job of making it feel like reality was breaking down as Doom 3 progressed. I like how its version of Hell was surreal and bathed in darkness. It was definitely an interesting depiction. I also liked how the Doom 3 demons had a more realistic body horror design than what we see in the other games. I’m a sucker for dark oppressive atmospheres. Because of that and some gameplay issues I’m one of the weirdos who thinks Half-Lofe 2 was a really good game, but a bad sequel and that a refined version of the Beta would’ve been better. It does a much better job of carrying over the darker themes and atmosphere of the original. It also includes more weapon and enemy variety, with a fair amount being returning ones (sure, the guns were pretty redundant, but you’d lost your arsenal a few times and a good chunk were just for testing. Some of the enemies also didn’t really work and would need to be HEAVILY reworked). The Combine felt so much more oppressive and in control as opposed to retail where they were just kind of there. The air was literally unbreathable for a good chunk of the game, the Xen infestation was rampant with the different settlements having walls and Cremators to keep the populace safe, and the oceans were drained. Even if you won humanity would still be screwed because the ecological damage was so great. Admittedly, the story and chapters didn’t flow very well, and it was garbled at times. A fair amount of the mechanics needed to be completely overhauled, if not outright scrapped. And some areas were pretty aimless. By no means do I think the Beta was flawless. I’m just of the opinion that Valve trimmed away too much, leaving the retail game feeling kind of bare and repetitive in comparison. The additional guns and enemies would’ve made it a lot more replayable. Thankfully, we have various Beta mods that are combining the best elements of retail and Beta.
      I’m assuming that in the future you’ll probably talk about different Alien related things since you said you’re so passionate about it. I’m sure those videos would be interesting. The comics were pretty entertaining. Not sure how well they hold up since it’s been a while since I read them. I should get around to watching the other films. It’s a shame that they went downhill after the second movie. I watched several videos about the canned scripts for 3 with stuff like that wooden space station that had all the monks and it was interesting. I think the one with Riply being in a coma while the others deal with a mutation that can turn people into Xenomorphs (it’s crazy how the Prometheus Black Goo idea came from that) being in a Cold War situation with space USSR would’ve been more interesting. Although, I’m not too sure if either of those would’ve been particularly good movies or not. It’s also a shame we didn’t that Alien 5 movie. From the bits and pieces I’ve seen, as well as knowing who would’ve been involved I’m sure we would’ve gotten a masterpiece on part with 1/2. Those prequels have some interesting ideas like the nature of creations and other things, but they mess up the lore for what the Space Jockey was and the origin of the Xenomorphs. Themes like being a stand in for Sumerian gods who created humanity is an interesting idea, but it completely goes against Alien’s theme about the cosmic insignificance of man and how uncaring and ancient our universe is. If Ridley Scott were to have made his own thing completely divorced from Alien those kinds of themes/ideas would’ve been perfectly fine (I remember I saw someone melting down about how that change doesn’t make any scientific sense, but that’s kind of a bad argument since there were already things like the Alien being able to grow without consuming biomass and doesn’t seem to eat, they have artificial gravity and ftl on the ships, the Xenomorph eggs were in suspended animation hundreds of thousands if not millions of years, and that’s not even mentioning the expanded universe). The prequels gave us some really cool designs (a lot of which really enhanced that previously mentioned MineCraft mod), but they don’t really fit with the established canon and gets rid of the mystery behind the pilot and Xenomorphs. I’m really torn on them.

    The thing about Cross is there's still a Plot hole. In Hydroponics she sees that she's talking to Isaac Clarke. So either the Marker turned off the Hallucinations or MOTIVE didn't know how to make this work while also keeping the twist in tact.
    The twist is also weaker as you and Isaac don't have a moment of taking in Nicole's death as you're focused on Kendra and Cross.
    (By the way, "TREMORS" is such an underrated franchise! Too bad 5,6, and 7 didn't turn out to be the revival we wanted.)

    • @Centrifewgi
      @Centrifewgi  7 месяцев назад +2

      Dang bruh, that's actually a really good catch. Cause when you first find Nicole, I believe there is an audio log you can find on the other side of the tram that is Cross saying she's confused about why Isaac is talking to her like that (I could be wrong about that). If that's the case, at what point does Cross start seeing Jacob in Isaac's body?

    • @frankkennedy6388
      @frankkennedy6388 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@Centrifewgi You're right. In NG+ you find the audio and she's confused. It's unclear how she's seeing Jacob.
      It's also odd how she's not in contact with Jacob when he wasn't dead until the middle of the story. Yes, comms were out, but you get the point.

    As much as I appreciate all they did for the remake, a few things still left me feeling disappointed.
    The Necromorphs
    In the og, most of the base enemies you ran into still had human characteristics, to the point, you could tell who was male and female. Added more creepiness to the experience.
    The A.I wasn't just aggressive in the og, it would ambush you, if you tried to run away. Now they just wait in the room they spawned in. Rest assured, if something pops out of the vents, that's the A.I. Director, not the individual A.I.
    Finally, they sound more goofy to me, than intimidating, in the remake. That one is more debatable, plus nitpicky, though.

    • @Centrifewgi
      @Centrifewgi  7 месяцев назад +3

      I can see where you are coming from with looks. They definitely had more remnants of their humanity physically shown on the models. As for the AI, I did have enemies ambush when I tried to run away from them quite a few times, I knew this because they would have the same damage mapped on the model so they aren't just bound to one room, but they are certainly less aggressive.

    I agree, I think the devs are now days trying to make everything seem more realistic, but what makes the jumpscare at the end so horrifying is how UNREALISTIC it is, she’s not a living breathing human, Nicole is a demon/hallucination, she doesn’t have to obey the laws of physics and human anatomy, make it a jumpscare….. they did the same in Callisto protocol, the jumpscared with the protags friend is wayyyyy too slow, drawn out and realistic

    The main point that makes the Remake feel different and kinda worse for me than the Original is it´s missing hit stun.
    You simply lack crowd control in the Remake (until you reach a certain point in Plasma Cutters Upgrade Tree), hence they made the enemies more passive like you mentioned. I simply liked the idea from the Original more, where you could hit a vital point - they stopped their animation - and you could pick them apart OR stun another one.

    • @Centrifewgi
      @Centrifewgi  7 месяцев назад

      I agree to an extent. The stun is gone, but I also feel like stasis is a good replacement for it. I know the original had both, but having to rely on stasis more to keep them at bay worked for me personally.

    While I think the Dead Space remake is a bit better than the original overall, I do think the added/changed plot elements in the remake are a step backward when compared to the original. I didn't like the inclusion of Cross. I also didn't like the addition of Isaac having a mother who was a Unitologist cult member, a murdered father, etc. I preferred the original, where he's just some random guy who's aware of Unitology, but isn't very familiar with it.
    Also, turning Nicole from just a regular, random medical doctor into a psychiatrist that focuses on rescuing Unitologists was a bit much for me personally. In fact, this introduces a plot hole. The mission of the Ishimura is to recover the Marker. And most of the Ishimura upper staff are fanatical Unitologists. So, why would they recruit a person that actively seeks to work against them? It's a Unitologist mission with Unitologist goals on a ship staffed by fanatical Unitologists. Nicole is extremely ANTI-Unitology. And she doesn't keep it a secret. So it makes no sense that the Ishimura leadership would assign her to the ship. So, I feel like Motive should have just stuck to the original version of Nicole in regards to the story. These changes to the lore with Isaac and Nicole feel contrived to me personally.
    Sorry for the wall of text.

    • @Centrifewgi
      @Centrifewgi  7 месяцев назад

      Haha don't apologize for the comment, I like that you feel passionate enough to go this in depth! You make a good point about Nicole getting recruited for duty onboard the ship when a large portion of the crew are Unitologists. The only way of responding really is maybe they figured one woman couldn't do that much harm and because of her extensive medical knowledge it could have easily been that management made the decision based off of factors outside the scope of the religion.
