I didnt enjoy this series as much, but that was nothing to do with politics or anything like that, it was just the writing, but i do love Jodie as the doctor.

K9 and Sarah never met in the show, he came later but they met up in this pilot and were together for some of her Sarah Jane Adventures show.

They made one episode as a seasonal special: subtitled 'A girl's best friend' this was December 1981. It's not made explicit which Doctor sent K-9. We guess scarf boy.😂

The Doctor being a female has been in consideration since the '70s! People as far back as the 2nd Doctor (Patrick Troughton) were in favour of The Doctor changing race/sex. Doctor Who has also been 'woke' since it started in the '60s, so the people that complain about the gender change and 'PC' state are only using it as an excuse to spread their hatred and vitriol. Please pay them no mind in your comment section, they go to every reactor and comment the same stuff. I don't know how they can be so obsessed with it, there must be nothing going on in their lives.

Politics: I think it's dangerous to talk about politics, simply because there can be thousands of opinions, so I try to avoid this topic as much as possible in entertainment games/videos. However, I partially agree that some politics were introduced into the show, but I don't think it's their fault if they force them to promote such content, it's not their fault, but still, as a scriptwriter, I think that, like the Olympics, there is no place for real politics in sports or creative activities, but I'll tell you the details another time. Moreover, it has been proven that the less you listen to politics, the happier you live, so I try to avoid this topic. ___ Monsters: Regarding spiders, I also think they're cute, although I've already said before, and the monster under the bed and so on, that I'm a monstrosity lover. I even caught a poor cockroach with one leg a year ago, spared the poor thing, I felt sorry for him, he would die with one paw, I named him Vasily and fed him, to my surprise I found out that there is no information on Google about caring for them, only articles on how to poison them, I had to experiment, I learned a lot of new interesting things about him while watching him, he lived for 3 weeks, then I apparently accidentally fried him, I cried for 3 days, but then I smiled, he lived with me at least not 1-2 days, but 3 weeks. ___ Regarding this series: I don't like this series, a pregnant man, I barely got through it... I felt very uncomfortable, probably because I thought it was unbearable to watch such stupidity. P.S.: I rarely give negative reviews, I usually write positively, but at the moment I really don't like this episode. ___ Positive: BUT! Many people criticize this showrunner, I understand why, but there is also a positive side, it's too early, the time will come and I will tell you :) For now I try to avoid trying to write comments and just wait for the moment. And until that happens, I'd better keep quiet.

Your abit too forward 😂, it was 1981 this came out this was a pilot episode but was never picked up as a series it was also the very first spin-off of "Dr. Who". This was just 5 years after Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) had left the main show as a regular companion.

You definetely should watch The Sarah Jane Adventures! Although it is aimed a little more toward children, it's still an absolutely incredible show! The basic premise is Sarah Jane working with a group of teens alongside K9 and her alien supercomputer Mr Smith, to defend the world from aliens in a much less violent way than Torchwood or UNIT would. It has some incredible stories, and tackles some pretty mature themes at some points! It's pretty much a slightly watered down Doctor Who in terms of tone and I'd very much reccomend it!.

K9 and Company was a one-off 50 minute episode broadcast 28th December 1981. OK critically it's not the best thing ever, but Sarah Jane and K9, what's not to love. Perhaps you should watch the whole episode.

They never made the series, but they did make the pilot, which you can watch, it's around an hour long. This was the titles, not a trailer. Oh, and it's 80s, not 90s.

It has, I believe, become something of a trope, that any heavily pregnant person in a film or TV show, will go into labour at the most inconvenient moment.

This is one of my favourite episodes of this season. It's a riff on an old Twilight Zone episode. Ignore the negative "fan" comments. You understand Doctor Who. Haters will always hate 😔

I agree that it's not one of the best episodes of the Jodie Whittaker era but for a different reason it's not so much the side characters it's mostly due to the alien monster the P-Ting as it felt it was monster created for 5 year olds and the fact I found it a lazy creation we've had monsters like this before like the adipose from the series 4 episode 1 "Partners in Crime" for example abit of a rip-off the only difference is that episode was set on earth while this one is set on a spaceship in space.

Nicole, I want to say thank you for your speech at the beginning of the video. Never be afraid to speak your mind like this. I've been watching your reactions since Rose and I know that recently going through series 11 you've been a bit baffled at how some of the episodes have weirdly low IMDB ratings. I want to let you know this is exactly why. AT the time this season aired in 2018 people were review bombing it on there and piling on it not because of the quality of the episodes but for a political agenda because they were upset about the Doctor being a woman and seeing it as "woke". So if you are looking at these recent episodes and thinking why is the rating so low and wondering shouldn't it be higher - they should. The damage is still there though from far right people who told their followers to give it so many bad reviews.

"Woke" should mean aware and alert to injustice, bigotry etc. but some people have hijacked it to mean a shorthand for "I don’t like it" without explaining why, because their reasons are usually disciminatory or worse. Those idiots are just divisive. So, well said Nicole!

yep, most of jodies dialogue often feels "too light" . cant wait to see what you think of the finale..i think this is the first episode of doctor who where i actually felt bored! spot on with the lack of character development...

As far as I’m aware, the reason this episode was so weak is because this series had a new production team and they weren’t very good at communicating with each other. Leading to the different aspects of the episode not fitting together well. The tone of the episode is so confused. It’s about a spaceship under attack from an unstoppable alien. It should be scary and make viewers dread what’s going to go wrong next. But it feels more like a relaxing day at the spa. The writer intended the episode to be a love letter to 1979’s ALIEN with the Pting being based on the Xenomorph and the spaceship based on the Mostromo. But you wouldn’t know that from the episode. The set design, although pretty, doesn’t evoke any fear or dread. The clinical set design also meant that emotional scenes were harder to convey. You can tell the director didn’t like the set design because of the amount of close up shots on people through the episode that pull your attention away from the ship. The music also doesn’t fit the episode because scenes like the Doctor finding out the ship could self destruct, when the man at the beginning dies or when the pilot woman dies there is calming music that sounds like walking through an aquarium. For an episode about a spaceship under attack to work it needs to be suspenseful throughout, but this episode fails to do that. I feel sad when watching it because I can tell the production team were so confused when they made the episode.

I think it's the episode I like it less of the season. BUT I love the Pting. It's SO ADORABLE I love him. it's a disservice to the doctor - having so many companions. She doesn't have as much screen time as men had before her and that's a shame. As if they made it intentionally to show her in bad light and not give her deep speeches like they gave to men

On your politics rant - well said. I find it particularly weird when people say Doctor Who went woke. As a show it was always on the progressive side right from the start - workers rights, gender neutral aliens, environmental movement, indigenous rights, anti-corporate greed, and more. Anyway lots of hope that you get a halfway decent government in Germany. An EU without a strong broadly liberal French and German government seems almost unthinkable - all the good feelings when Poland moved back into the light with Tusk in their last elections seems so far away. I will comment about the Doctor Who episode once I have seen it.

Holy crap, a 6.7? That is criminally low. This is probably my favorite christmas special to this point in the story. I actually really liked how this story wasnt afraid to just kill its characters off, it made it feel a lot more realistic. Like when the husband falls and the woman screams at the doctor "you promised!" And the doctor just has to say "im sorry". Sometimes the doctor just lies.

You brought up some really good points, like the doctors lack of trust in martha is what really created this entire problem. Who knows what could have happened if the doctor had looked at that watch first and maybe realized it was the masters? Also another good point, why did the tardis open for the master or fly for him? Maybe its just later in the show but we do see the tardis locking and unlocking itself, as well as choosing where to go, so why wouldnt it be able to lock itself from the master or just refuse to fly and shut down? Very good observations. This is a great episode, but personally on my first watch i was really upset when the master stole the tardis, as well as the entire idea of another time lord for some reason. I hated seeing the doctor- someone weve come to know and love as a genius, instantly in the shadow of another time lord that we have never met before! (If you havent watched classic who, like me) but eventually this became one of my favorite finales period. Normally 3 episodes would be way too long but in this case its perfect, all very very good episodes

i love those first two episodes, but they could have left the "fam" stranded without the tardis for one or two more episodes, that could have been a nice little story arc.
