If you think Bill's jacket-less costume is unusual, there's a reason for it - it is so that Character can use an old toy body from Primeval.
Steadfast (beard) was Ralf Little, well known for domestic comedy The Royle Family - He will go on to co-lead detective show Death in Paradise.

I thought it was an okay episode, but agree with you about Bill. What I particularly like about her is that she doesn't simply ask questions that are needed to progress the plot. Overall: 3 out of 5
